MiraZyme
By Scott Clayton
Getting new gear is great! The
look, feel, and smell are exciting. But let's be honest, after some heavy use the look, feel, and
especially the smell are, let's say, not what they were when brand new. If you're like me, I barely have enough
time to get out and use the gear, let alone give it the proper periodic cleaning I should. But eventually,
trust me, you'll be backed into a corner, especially with waders, boots, and gear that is constantly soaked
and then left to dry.
When you reach this point, instead of using chlorine bleach, which is very hard on fabrics, MiraZyme, from
McNett Outdoor (makers of AquaSeal), can help you get rid of the odor that's accumulated. MiraZyme contains
a unique blend of 10 highly specialized, light activated microbial elements that will eliminate odor. It is
fast, effective and safe for the environment -- leaving only CO2 and water as by-products. Because MiraZyme
comes from nature, its residue is safe enough to pour directly into rivers and streams.
To use, simply add 1/2 oz. to 20 gallons of water. Mix water. Dip the item into the solution, saturating
inside and out. Do NOT rinse. Remove the item and air dry. The last step is the most important because that's
where MiraZyme does its work, through the drying process.
MiraZyme has been tested and found to work safely with most fabrics used in outdoor gear. When in doubt,
contact McNett Outdoor. MiraZyme works great for eliminating odor from neoprene gloves & booties, BCDs, dive
masks, kayak spray skirts, PFDs, waders, marine galleys and heads, rubber boots, hockey pads, camping gear,
protective helmets, sandals, rock climbing shoes and more.
