Marmot Takes on the World With Secrets of the Universe

March 1999

Marmot Mountain Ltd. announces a worldwide marketing program that takes people to the SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE.  The SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE program kicks off in the April issues of Backpacker and Rock & Ice.  The first secret includes a unique image captured by renowned outdoor photographer Galen Rowell called the "Specter of the Brocken".

"This is a breakthrough, all encompassing campaign that will permeate everything Marmot does" states Ton Fritz, Vice President of Marketing for Marmot.  Fritz goes on to say "The SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE will be a part of Marmot's in-store merchandising, hang-tags, posters, advertising, promotions and web site."

Kathleen Foutz of Publicis Hal Riney states; "Our  project with Marmot was to define a distinct look and personality for the brand that differentiates Marmot from the rest of the industry while remaining simple and true to Marmot's heritage.  The SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE is a campaign that will sharpen the voice of Marmot while recognizing the culture of the company."

Readers who are curious for more information about the "Specter of the Brocken" are invited to check out Marmot's web site at www.marmot.com.  Marmot's web site is currently being updated to include more SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE

In Fall 1999, Marmot will begin a worldwide search for more SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE.  Marmot will host a contest through both catalog and web site that will engage consumers in the search for the elusive SECRETS OF THE UNIVERSE.
