Backcountry Access DTS Rescue Package Backcountry Access DTS Rescue Package
Peanut, butter, and jelly. Bacon, lettuce, and tomato. Beacon, shovel, and probe--good things seem to come in threes, and Backcountry Access is hopping on the trifecta train with the DTS Rescue Package, which combines the legendary Tracker DTS avalanche beacon, Stealth 240 probe, and B-1 EXT shovel to make sure you're fully equipped when you head into the backcountry. The Tracker DTS beacon is a legend, due to its simplicity, durability, and reliability. Clear and intuitive direction and distance indicators take most of the guesswork out of searching, and the easy-to-use multiple-burial mode is a key--if hopefully never necessary--feature. The DTS automatically switches to transmit mode after 10 minutes of inactivity, just in case the searcher has been caught in a secondary slide, and the large buttons make it easy to operate with gloves on, giving you one less thing to worry about in an emergency. The shovel and probe are far simpler but no less important; after all, you need all three to successfully locate an avalanche victim. The B-1 EXT shovel is compact and lightweight, with an telescoping aluminum blade and ergonomic T-grip handle. BCA upgraded the Stealth 240 probe this season, making the depth markings easier to read and giving it a stronger tip that penetrates dense snow more easily. And with its Quick-Lock hardware, the Stealth stows better and deploys faster than any other probe out there. While having a full kit is infinitely better than relying on dumb luck, please remember that beacons, shovels, and probes are NOT a guarantee that you will survive an avalanche; get educated, learn how to use your tools, travel with trustworthy partners, and be smart out there.

Mammut Pro Protection Airbag 3.0 Backpack- 2135-2746cu in Mammut Pro Protection Airbag 3.0 Backpack- 2135-2746cu in
Made for those who spend most of their ski days in the backcountry, the Mammut Pro Protection Airbag 3. 0 Backpack has a lighter airbag design, more convenient carry system, and all the features you'd expect in a pack constructed for professional mountain guides. The newly developed Protection Airbag System 3. 0 has a unique design intended to keep your head above the snow, and to protect your head, neck, chest, and torso from the trauma that can result from being strained through rocks and trees when caught in a slide. Unlike traditional top and side airbag designs, the Protection opens in a horseshoe-like, over-the-shoulder shape that concentrates flotation above and behind your head to help keep you facing uphill and above the snow, minimizing the likelihood of obstructed breathing. Since it surrounds your head and neck and covers large parts of your torso, it also reduces the likelihood of serious trauma to those areas. In order for the Protection Airbag to work correctly, the pack MUST be riding properly on your back, if it's too high or low, the airbag will not settle correctly around your neck, reducing the potential benefit. Mammut designed the Pro with a three-step adjustable back panel length adjustment, allowing you to customize the fit for maximum effectiveness no matter your height. With an adjustable aluminum U-frame suspension and thermo-molded back panel, the Pro rides like butter, so you won't even notice all the gear you can stuff in and on it. There's a front-access safety equipment compartment that holds your shovel, probe, and snow tools. Even if you have skis or a snowboard strapped on the Pro, it's easy to access the main compartment using the full back panel opening, and you can go hands-free by stashing your poles or ice tools in the side compression straps. The Pro has an easy-access pocket on the removable hip belt to keep a compass, inclinometer, or other small gadget close at hand. Please note that this system does not include the ...

Ortovox Tour 32+7L ABS Backpack Ortovox Tour 32+7L ABS Backpack
If you've spent large portions of your life in the mountains, you've probably had some close calls, whether you know it or not. Part of the allure of remote, unskied alpine peaks is their untamed wildness, but that wildness comes with increased risk--avalanches are an ever-present danger, difficult to predict and even harder to escape. The Ortovox Tour 32+7 ABS Backpack and ABS Airbag Kit isn't a substitute for education, experience, and careful decision making, but it does offer proven life-saving technology that can make the difference between being buried and staying on top. The Tour 32+7 Kit comes with a Modular Airbag Safety System (M. A. S. S.) that has removable twin airbags, one on either side of the pack, with a combined volume of 170L to help you rise to the top of the debris when caught in an avalanche. An included adjustable activation handle comes with a small, internal pressurized release capsule and can be set up on the left or right shoulder strap for easy access, and an aluminum safety bracket zips into a compartment on either strap to prevent accidental releases. (The activation handle can also be released from the zippered position, but requires a strong, very deliberate action.) When pressed, the activation handle punctures the small internal trigger capsule, which in turn activates the piercing unit, puncturing the main canister to fill the airbags within seconds, helping to keep the wearer on the surface on the slide. The shoulder straps, waist belt, and secure leg strap work together to ensure that the pack stays securely attached and correctly oriented. If you're wearing the pack in-bounds or otherwise out of danger, the M. A. S. S Unit, activation handle, and airbag-inflating canister are removable, reducing the weight by about 4 pounds. Once you've deployed the airbags, you must replace the Activation Unit, which consists of the trigger, the small internal trigger canister, and the larger airbag-inflating canister (replacement must be don..
