100% AirMatic Gloves 100% AirMatic Gloves
The 100% AirMatic Gloves may sound like they feature some pneumatic technologies developed in the 1950s, but we promise, they're no more and no less than great all-around mountain bike gloves. While the company's iTrack and Celium gloves are minimal in design, the AirMatics are a bit more substantial in feel and in materials. The palm is double-layered perforated Clarino artificial leather, to protect the hand and minimize blisters without compromising bar feel. Some TPR details on the knuckles and back of the hand are integrated into the lightweight polyester mesh and provide further protection from abuse. The hook-and-loop cuff is integrated with Poron padding, as is the thumb, which firms up in the event of impact. The Tech Thread detail in the thumb and index finger tips mean the gloves are touchscreen friendly, and the Creora finger gussets provide comfortable digit movement and aid in wicking away moisture.

100% Brisker Gloves 100% Brisker Gloves
OK, so the Ride 100% Brisker Gloves aren't weightless, but you'll be pleasantly surprised by how light they are for how much warmth they afford. An insulated backing is the primary differentiator between the Briskers and 100%'s more traditional AirMatic gloves. There's also a moisture-wicking microfiber interior lining that feels soft and warm. The dual-layer Clarino palm is perforated for breathability without being so porous as to leak precious warmth on chilly days, and the logo on the backing is reflective, since riding during the colder months often means getting less daylight, too.

The 100% Celium Gloves are designed for riders who really don't want to be wearing them, but who recognize the benefits of them. With no cuffs, no closures, a super lightweight mesh backing, and a single-layer, highly tactile, perforated Clarino artificial leather, the gloves are so minimal you won't be blamed if you forget you're wearing them.

100% iTrack Gloves 100% iTrack Gloves
The Ride 100% iTrack Gloves aren't quite as light and minimal as the barely-there Celiums the company makes, and for some riders, that's perfect. The mesh backing is slightly heavier and more protective than that of the Celiums, and the single-layer Clarino palm isn't quite as heavily perforated. You still get touchscreen compatibility, though, thanks to Ride 100%'s Tech Thread in the thumb and index finger tips. The iTracks also step up the materials with a pull-type cuff and tab, along with a 3mm-thick thumb overlay pad to protect this oft-overlooked area of your hand.

Alpinestars Nimbus Gloves - Men's Alpinestars Nimbus Gloves - Men's
As makers of some of the smartest and toughest motocross gear out there, Alpinestars knows a thing or two about designing gloves for two-wheeled vehicles. In the case of the Alpinestars Nimbus Gloves, you get a light, weatherproof pair of paw protectors that can hold up to the harsh conditions you'll encounter this fall and winter. The Nimbus gloves are made of an extra-strong woven polyester fabric that's windproof and stretchable for comfortable movement. What makes the gloves waterproof, however, is the addition of a material called DRYSTAR, a proprietary membrane of fabric that utterly seals out the wet stuff without compromising the glove's breathability. Light poly-foam insulation and a soft fleece interior both promise exceptional warmth, albeit not quite as much as heavy-duty insulated gloves you may find in a higher price range. Strategically-placed synthetic suede on the palm and silicone grip elements on the fingers enhance grip, comfort, and the glove's durability, while the neoprene hook-and-loop cuff makes getting them on and off easy. The Alpinestars Nimbus Gloves are available in five sizes, from Small to XX-Large, and in three color schemes: Black/white, Red/white, and Dark Blue/white.

The Alpinestars Stratus Gloves are the company's offering if you're seeking some well-made and stylish full-finger gloves this fall and winter, but don't want or need the extra padding and features that usually accompany more gravity-ready gloves. By eschewing palm padding and heavy structural reinforcements, the gloves are especially friendly to climbers (hence the name) but don't give up the durability and quality for which Alpinestars is known. The gloves' shell material is waterproof and windproof to make for all-weather usefulness, and reflective details boost your visibility if you're out riding at night. The moisture-wicking thermal lining keeps your hands dry and comfortable, while a hook-and-loop cuff closure makes it easy to get the gloves on and off. Silicone "treads" on the palm and fingertips enhance grip, and the close-fitting synthetic leather palm promises excellent bar feel and control. Capo MSR SF Glove Capo MSR SF Glove
Sleek and durable, the Capo MSR SF Cycling Gloves embody the duality of the cyclist; an allure towards memorable aesthetics and the need for performance. Further exploration shows the combination of leather and lycra (not a cycling cover band) as the amalgamation of new and old under the banner of what you've come to expect of modern performance cycling gloves. Durable, imported Pittards leather coats the palm and thumb webbing of the MSR Short Fingered gloves. The leather palm has been reinforced with dual-layer foam for extra comfort. For strength, Capo incorporated leather on the end seam for all of the fingers, and added a sturdy low-profile Velcro wrist strap. Capo Pursuit SF Glove Capo Pursuit SF Glove
There's a reason that many pros refuse to wear gloves, they're tired of compromising comfort for flexibility and feel. We understand this complaint, but then again, we don't make gloves. Luckily, though, Capo does. And with its new Pursuit SF Gloves, comfort no longer comes at the expense of flexibility. Starting with the palm of the gloves, Capo used Clarino microfiber for the construction. This material was incorporated for its resistance to abrasion and moisture, while also remaining highly malleable. So, your grip and feel on the bars isn't sacrificed for that of protection. The padding remains sparing in its volume in order to provide the perfect balance of feel and vibration absorption. At the back of the hand, we find that Capo included two materials, HG Lycra and V-Mesh 360. Starting at the former, HG Lycra is a 40-gauge, certified Power Lycra. Why a Power Lycra' Well, this fabric's muscle-holding support minimizes the fatigue-inducing effects of the muscle oscillation that results from road vibration. Additionally, this material effectively manages moisture, leaving your hands dry and comfortable over the long haul. Aiding in this ideology is Capo's V-Mesh 360 fabric. This material was placed over the knuckles and fingers for extra ventilation. But, more importantly, V-Mesh's 360-degrees of stretch allow a complete freedom of movement for the fingers. As a result, your reach to the shift levers, whether on the hoods or in the drops, remains uninhibited. The Capo Pursuit SF Gloves are available in five sizes from Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black and White.

Capo Thermo Roubaix LF Glove Capo Thermo Roubaix LF Glove
Your hands are the first things to turn into ice cubes when you're riding in frigid temperatures. The Capo Thermo Roubaix Long-Fingered Cycling Gloves act as your first line of defense against cold, achy hands that can turn a passion into a chore. While pedaling raises your core temperature as you ride, your hands don't benefit from this rise; they take the brunt of the icy air, and don't move enough to keep the blood flowing. Do something to protect them by making the right choice in gloves. The Capo Thermo Roubaix LF cycling gloves offer a versatile solution to the cold. The advanced Thermo Roubaix fabric features hollow core microfiber that traps air for effective insulation without stacking up the grams. A silicone palm grip and wrist pull tab help them function as transitional season gloves; for the deep winter months, they can easily be used as lightweight liners for double protection from the elements. The Capo Thermo Roubaix LF Cycling Gloves are great standalone gloves for the fall and spring, and a superior liner for winter. And you can't beat the cost benefit of anything that's designed for dual use, especially in cycling. The Thermo Roubaix LF Cycling Gloves are available in Black and sizes Small through X-Large.

Castelli 4.3.1 Gloves Castelli 4.3.1 Gloves
We could spend hours here at the office debating the pros and cons of various winter glove options available to best meet cold-weather needs. Traditional gloves provide ample range of motion and ease of shift lever function but open up more surface area to chill, while lobster gloves and mittens provide superior warmth and toasty hand feelings but leave limited finger mobility. Castelli silences the debate with the 4. 3. 1 Gloves. Castelli takes the best of both the glove and mitten worlds, mashes them together, and spits out a ridiculously versatile piece that should have a home in every cyclist's winter accessory collection. Fashioned from windproof, waterproof materials with a kitten-soft fleece lining, these gloves are meant to keep hands cozy. With a convertible mitten design, riders can choose their warmth level for the day. Opt for a full mitten when it's extra cold, a three-finger mitten to leave an index finger free for easy gear shifts, or pull back the mitten cover and rock the 4. 3. 1s traditional glove-style when things warm up a bit. Silicone grippers on the fingertips and thumbs ensure they won't slip off the bars or brake levers even through rainy, icy days. Long wrist cuffs tuck neatly under or over your jacket cuffs and cinch down securely with hook-and-loop strap closures to seal out chilly wind gusts and errant flurries, ensuring toasty wrists and digits throughout the ride. The 4. 3. 1 Gloves feature minimal padding on the palms to enhance road feel, while microsuede panels on the thumbs let you quickly mop away sweat and snowflakes on the fly. As a final touch, Castelli adds reflective print to increase visibility to motorists, fellow riders, and wandering neighborhood pets in low-light or dreary conditions.

Castelli Aero Speed Gloves Castelli Aero Speed Gloves
It may not seem obvious, but your fingers are the first things to slice through the air when you're tucked in the aero position during a time trial or triathlon. Considering this, the Castelli Aero Speed Glove helps you shave precious time when every millisecond counts, thanks to its streamlined profile. Upon first glance, you'll immediately notice its odd-looking design, which contributes to the gloves' aerodynamic properties. The index finger and thumb receive individual sheaths, while the other three fingers reside within a separate sleeve. This slippery shape reduces wind-resistance when your fingers clutch the aero bars, especially considering the removal of all seams along the glove's backside for obsessive levels of aero-functional performance. And because they're intended for gripping securely, the palms use an Ultrasuede pad and silicone strips for high levels of tactile sensation and a sure-handed feel on your aero bars.

Castelli BOA Glove - Men's Castelli BOA Glove - Men's
When you're on the bike, cold separates itself into several stages. Sunny fall days leave you only slightly chilled, with hands that are a little stiffer than normal but still functional. Other days, an afternoon spent pedaling through wind and rain leave your appendages completely numb, incapable of performing the simplest tasks--like taking your gloves off in the driveway when you get home. Castelli, as it's wont to do, saw a gap in the market and filled that gap with the BOA Men's Glove. Rather than trying to create an ultra-insulated, impractical glove, it set about designing a glove that would embrace the limited mobility that's unavoidable during long, frigid rides. The resulting Men's BOA Glove relies on the same BOA dial that's served you so loyally on your road shoes. It allows you to quickly widen the glove to pull it off mid-ride, then slip it back on without fumbling in the shoulder of the road for an extra five minutes. Aside from its easy on/off system, the BOA Glove comes with a capable OutDry shell that's impervious to rain and wind. The shell protects a plush fleece lining that works to hold heat next to your skin while allowing your hands to breathe. Silicone grip on the palm preserves bar feel and control of the cockpit, and the cuffs extend past the wrists to help eliminate gaps between the glove and your jersey.

Castelli Corridore Glove Castelli Corridore Glove
The Corridore Glove is Castelli's love letter to cycling. It's based on the classic, indispensable knit glove model but features a few innovations that set it apart in well-populated field. This balance is typical of Castelli, a manufacturer that juggles the demands of innovation with the pleasure of timeless forms to produce traditionally minded gear that still tickles our tech-geek fancy. The gloves' synthetic construction insulates like wool but doesn't risk losing its shape after stretching out. The classic design is further updated with generously applied silicone palm grip and touchscreen-compatible fingertips, and the extended cuff helps eliminate glove/sleeve gaps--even for those of us with limbs that tend to outstretch most Italian race gear. We find that Castelli's recommended temperature range of 54-65 degrees Fahrenheit runs a bit on the warm side, but the Corridore is the first cool-weather accessory we reach for every fall when temperatures dip below 60.

Castelli Cromo Gloves - Women's Castelli Cromo Gloves - Women's
A quick survey of cycling gear designed for inclement weather makes one thing undeniably apparent: most cold-weather kit is specifically designed for male cyclists, forsaking the ladies of the peloton and trail. Gradually, this is changing, and Castelli's Cromo Gloves, part of the brand's Cromo line of women's cycling apparel, is yet another indication that the cycling industry as a whole is recognizing this historically under-served cycling population. The Cromo Gloves feature Windstopper X-Fast material on the backs of the hand and cuff, which affords top-end wind protection without the suffocating feel of other anti-wind materials while still keeping the elements at bay thanks to a DWR (durable water repellent) treatment. The soft, brushed fleece of the SmartHeat lining does its part to contribute to dry hands by pulling moisture off of your skin and both it and the Windstopper X-Fast keep you comfortable in temperatures ranging from 41 to 57 degrees Fahrenheit. The palms also resist wind and water, but not at the cost of losing touch with your shift levers. The Cromo Gloves are rounded out with a long cuff that eliminates the gap between glove and jacket and a microsuede thumb panel to wipe sweat, moisture, and any other matter from your face. They're branded with a tastefully proportioned Castelli logo on the back and a Rorschach-esque splash of complementary color (we find that it's suggestive of either a star burst or floral pattern, depending on who's describing them) on the palm. The Castelli Cromo Gloves - Women's are available in five sizes ranging from X-Small to X-Large in the colors Black/old rose, Black/violet, White/coral, and White/magenta.

Castelli CW 6.0 Cross Glove Castelli CW 6.0 Cross Glove
When it comes to the question of what to wear, cyclocross poses many challenges. You need clothes that are durable, flexible, breathable, and warm. In short, you need apparel items that do it all. The Castelli CW 6. 0 Cross Gloves are designed specifically for water, mud, and the chilly weather associated with one of the craziest, least-predictable, and therefore most fun disciplines in cycling. The CW 6. 0 Cross Gloves are intended to keep your hands warm even in the wettest conditions since--in 'cross--the longest races last little more than an hour and there's no time for wardrobe adjustments once you're underway. A neoprene back, vented finger inserts, and a micro-perforated Clarino palm get the job done by shielding against the elements and shedding water and sweat to keep your hands insulated and warm. The gloves also feature a silicone print on the palm for grip, which is a small but important detail in a sport that requires constant shifting and braking without sacrificing dexterity. The embossed neoprene on the back is as warm when wet as it is when dry, and the cuffs are made with a hook-and-loop enclosure that creates a secure seal around your wrists. Lastly, a microsuede thumb panel is included to provide a safe landing pad for the inevitable, exertion-caused nasal effusion.

Nothing to fear, though, as windproof, insulated gloves like Castelli's CW. 3. 1 Gloves will keep your fingers moving through the depths of winter. But warmth, weather protection, and perspiration management aren't the only things we expect from a sub-freezing cycling glove. The connection to your hoods is just as important, and the Estremo delivers with a gripy and durable fabric for the palm and fingers. Castelli Rosso Corsa Pave Glove - Women's Castelli Rosso Corsa Pave Glove - Women's
The cycling world houses widely varied opinions about the necessity of gloves, and while some people can afford to go glove-free, we're firmly in the camp that a couple of little tan lines are a small price to pay for having intact palms should things jump sideways. In addition to their palm-protecting peace of mind, the Castelli Women's Rosso Corsa Pave Gloves add gel padding to minimize pressure points for a boost of long-mile comfort even if the road takes you from Paris to Roubaix.

Castelli S. Uno Gloves Castelli S. Uno Gloves
One trip to the ER to have gravel scrubbed out of your palms will convince you to never go gloveless. The Castelli S. Uno Glove fits like a second skin so you'll have protection without the bulk. Beginning with the palms, the S. Uno use ultra-suede, a durable fabric that is also pliable and soft. The palms are lightly padded, which provides some vibration protection for your hands while also allowing a secure grip around the bars. The backs of the hands are constructed from micro-mesh, which helps keep your hands cool so you're able to wear them even in the heat of summer. The thumbs feature a debossed micro-suede panel, and they are secured with hook-and-loop tabs at the wrists. Reflective logos have been added for a little extra visibility.

Castelli Scalda Glove Castelli Scalda Glove
Castelli has proven itself well capable of going wildly off-script when it comes to redesigning, reimagining, and revolutionizing inclement-weather cycling kit. The Scalda Glove is an example of the brand playing it relatively conservatively, with even the name being a simple expression of utility. (Scalda is Italian for the verb "heats.") Of course, "utility" means something completely different for Castelli than for almost any other brand, and the Scalda's utilitarian ability to shield against the elements while maintaining a slim, low-bulk fit means it is to most cycling gloves as a carbon race bike is to a tricycle. The Scalda's body is constructed from a tightly woven material called Ultra Fleece that's both water- and windproof. Ultra Fleece presents a nigh impermeable shell to the external elements, but the internal face is a soft, brushed, low-loft fleece that creates a barrier of trapped body heat between your skin and the shoulder-season chill. The body is trimmed with the usual Castelli fixings: silicone grip on the palm, conductive fingertips for touchscreen use, and low-profile stretch cuff that helps seal the elements out of both glove and sleeve. Castelli recommends a temperature range of 42-60 degrees Fahrenheit, which matches perfectly with the typical workload of late fall and early spring. Chances are good you've used a pair of wool or faux-wool knit gloves that occupied a similar temperature range, but the addition of element resistance with the Scalda means your rides won't be limited to days without the chance of precipitation.

Castelli Scudo Glove - Men's Castelli Scudo Glove - Men's
When the days begin to shorten and the calendar rolls over into fall, the first area that we give extra protection to is always our hands. This means that many of us keep two, three, or even four pairs of cycling gloves in the drawer, and Castelli's Scudo Gloves fill the fall/spring slot, playing the perfect middleman between summer and winter gloves. The Scudo has a windproof back, so it's utility is similar to the classic knit glove with a few extra degrees tacked on to the bottom end of a knit glove's temperature range. The wind-blocking properties live up to the glove's namesake when it comes to stopping wind (scudo is "shield" in Italian), but the material isn't water-resistant water, so be wary of sudden spring showers. A low-profile synthetic palm keeps bar-feel impediment to a minimum, and silicone grip helps maintain a hold on the hoods.

Castelli Scudo Glove - Women's Castelli Scudo Glove - Women's
We love fall riding, but cold hands can sneak up on you at this time of year, and once your hands get cold, they'll be that way till you stop to warm them up. Castelli's Scudo Women's Gloves solve this conundrum. They're so lightweight that you can pack them in a pocket and forget about them until the ride ends or they're needed, and they're so surprisingly effective at keeping hands warm that they're often all you'll need for fall and spring riding. The Scudo has a windproof back, so it's utility is similar to the classic knit glove with a few extra degrees tacked on to the bottom end of a knit glove's temperature range. Castelli Spettacolo Glove - Men's Castelli Spettacolo Glove - Men's
Winter cycling tends to involve a lot of compromises in kit choice, but the Rosso Corsa label on Castelli's Spettacolo Gloves is an assurance that those compromises don't have to affect one of the most vulnerable parts of your body: your hands. The Spettacolo balances bulk with bar-feel, striking a Rosso Corsa-approved balance of insulated warmth while still maintaining the ability feel your hoods and shift levers. This balance is important because operating shift and brake levers requires a certain amount of digit dexterity, but once your hands get cold on a ride, the only way to warm them is to stop riding altogether. The Spettacolo owes its relatively slim construction to Castelli's material choices. The outer material is GORE's Windstopper X-Fast, which comes from the same family of anti-weather fabrics used in the revolutionary Gabba/Perfetto series. The Windstopper shell is paired with a Polartec fleece lining. This design doubles-up on low-bulk insulation rather than plumping-out with a single layer of fluff. The wind- and waterproof GORE outer layer means that the lack of high-loft fill doesn't result in cold hands 10 minutes into a two hour ride, because it preserves your microclimate so the insulation isn't constantly playing catch-up. Castelli recommends the Spettacolo in temperatures ranging from 35-55 degrees Fahrenheit. Many of us typically find that Castelli's recommended temperatures err on the side of caution by tending toward the warm side, so we often use items like the Gabba or Perfetto in weather several degrees lower than Castelli's recommendations. However, when it comes to winter cycling gloves, we don't like tempting fate by ignoring those prescribed limitations; as mentioned above, once you cross into cold-hands territory, it's a pain in the ass to get back to comfort. The synthetic leather palm is finished with a silicone grip pattern, which helps maintain grip in the kind of damp conditions where the waterproof Windstopper shells re...

Castelli Tempesta Gloves Castelli Tempesta Gloves
The clouds are grey in every direction, and a snowy, rainy sleet has been pelting your shoulders and rolling off your helmet for your entire ride. Home is miles away, and your soaking wet gloves aren't doing much to stop your hands from stinging with cold in your drops. Sound familiar' Inspired by the hand-numbing March conditions during the past few years at San Remo, Castelli's Tempesta Gloves were made to keep your hands warm and dry on the days when no one in their right mind -- or the wrong gloves -- would actually head out on a ride. Castelli's OutDry technology is the cornerstone of the gloves' construction, and it's been updated from last year's version to function as a single barrier against rain, snow, sleet, and whatever else is falling from the sky. The DWR membrane is bonded directly to the main nylon/elastane fabric to give you a single windproof, waterproof layer, which keeps the gloves stretchy and breathable. Castelli also includes a Dry Zone lining on the inside of the gloves to enhance their breathability and keep moisture moving away from your skin when you sweat. When you're getting ready to head out on your ride, slip the gloves on using the neoprene cuffs -- they'll slide easily under your jacket sleeves and will help water stay away from your wrists when you're stretched out in the saddle. Whether you're pedaling along blustering seaside roads in Italy or your familiar local routes, the Tempesta Gloves are made to make sure no degree of bad weather keeps you out of the saddle.

DeFeet Electronic Touch Gloves Reflective DeFeet Electronic Touch Gloves Reflective
DeFeet's Reflective Electronic Touch Gloves add a hit of reflective detailing to the company's knit Duraglove platform. We're rarely comfortable making broad generalizations for the tastes and preferences of all cyclists, but it's pretty safe to say that these mid-weight knit gloves have a special place in the hearts of cyclists whose seasons extend into the fall and start up as soon as early spring brings temperatures back up into the low- or mid-40s. The gloves have received some updates throughout the years, but the blend of insulation, breathability, virtually unimpeded manual dexterity, and silicone palm print have remained unchanged. The updates included things like a shift from wool to synthetics, touch screen-compatibility in the thumbs, middle, and forefingers, and -- in the latest development -- a bit of reflective detailing across the knuckles to help keep you visible to motorists and other road users during the early dusks and brisk mornings of fall and spring.

This is partially due to their classic, minimalist styling but mostly because they do a fantastic job of keeping our paws warm through chilly rides. DeFeet builds on this tried and true favorite with the Wool Electronic Touch Gloves, which feature all the touchscreen-friendly warmth of the standard Duragloves but swaps the original's CoolMax fabric for American wool. Perfect for cycling or running, these gloves cut a streamlined profile to keep hands warm without any unnecessary bulk that could limit range of motion or manual dexterity. The incorporation of Cordura yarns helps the gloves fend off abrasions and block just enough air to keep your digits warm. Despite the added protection, the gloves still allow moisture to escape, helping to avoid clammy hand situations. Tough enough for free riding without feeling like a boxing glove on smoother singletrack, Fox Racing's Dirtpaw Race Gloves use years of experience to keep you connected to the bike and comfortable on the trail. Fox starts with lightweight, breathable uppers, then uses a lightly padded Clarino synthetic leather palm to help lessen hand and wrist fatigue on never-ending stretches of rock-encrusted dirt. It also reinforces the backs and cuffs of the gloves with direct-inject rubber to add some reassuring protection to vulnerable spots during crashes. Neoprene knuckles and silicone fingertip printing ensure you'll still have ample dexterity on the bars while maneuvering through tight sections of trail, while a hook-and-loop closure lets you adjust the gloves so they stay secure without any distracting fit issues on race day.

On the outside, the Fox Racing Legion Glove looks like a standard full-finger hand holster. But inside, it plays host to a plurality of functional features. The Cordura shell is a standard fixture in trail gear, but not when it's haunted internally by a fleece inner face. That combination protects against the abuse of the trail and the frigidity of late autumn air. Even the Lycra gussets, inserted to allow a full range of digit reach, are backed with TPU for weather protection. The knuckles and fingers are padded for when the trail party turns punchy (as in literally punching trees), and touchscreen compatibility lets you capture all the incriminating evidence on your phone.

Giordana AV 100 Winter Glove Giordana AV 100 Winter Glove
If you happen to live in the kind of climate that rarely sees temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, then, well, we're jealous. Giordana builds its AV 100 Winter Gloves for fortunate cyclists like you. We suggest you think of those of us riding in single digits through snow while you enjoy the AV 100 during your temperate winter, and you can rest assured that, despite their light insulation, the gloves are every bit as breathable, windproof, and water-resistant as their heavier AV 200 and 300 counterparts. The AV 100 gloves are finished with an extended wrist with a hook-and-loop strap, which helps reduce the gap between gloves and sleeves or warmers, and a hit of foam gel palm padding ensures comfort during long base miles spend on the flats. Touchscreen-compatible fingertips and silicone grip define the outer face of the palms, so damp, chilly weather won't have a negative impact on bar feel and smart device operation.

Giordana AV 200 Winter Glove Giordana AV 200 Winter Glove
Giordana's AV glove line covers every part of the spectrum of winter cycling, and the breathable, windproof, and water-resistant AV 200 Winter Glove is arguably the most versatile member of the line. The 100 is lightweight enough for late autumn but will wilt if it's your only option come January, and the 300's "in case of ice age break glass" insulation is far too extreme for all but the winter-iest of winters. The AV 200 holds the middle ground, warming cyclists' paws during all but the warmest fall/spring days and the coldest depths of winter, making it the ideal bridge between knit-glove temperatures and those days that are bordering on too-cold-to-ride. Where the AV 300 and Extreme gloves feature a hook-and-loop enclosure, the AV 200 gloves feature a pull-on cuff made of Blizzard fabric that's been given an Acqua Zero Eco treatment. This pairing results in a high-stretch, water-resistant seal that helps eliminate pernicious gaps between gloves and sleeves. At the other end, the middle and index fingers terminate in TouchTech panels for touchscreen compatibility, and the space between cuff and fingertips is embossed with strategically arrayed silicone grip to help maintain a grip on wintery hoods. The palms are finished with foam gel padding, and the thumb features a soft wiping panel for, you know, stuff.

Giordana AV 300 Winter Glove Giordana AV 300 Winter Glove
Two options define the top-end of Giordana's winter glove line: the AV Extreme and the AV 300 Winter Glove. The former is waterproof, which is desirable in some situations; the latter is water-resistant enough to fend off all but the most monsoon-like of deluges, but it also features warmer insulation. In conditions that allow for cycling, we find the AV 300 to be sufficiently water-resistant to keep us dry, and the additional insulation speaks for itself because, on those deep winter days where warmth becomes a necessity instead of a pleasure, it's virtually always enough. The AV 300 is built around a windproof, breathable membrane that keeps the chill out while exorcising internal moisture that, if allowed to haunt your gloves, will inevitably become clammy and then stingingly frigid. External moisture is just as dangerous in winter, and the AV 300 is water-resistant to encourage road spray and light to moderate precipitation alike to bead up and be on its way. The elemental protection shields an insulating interior that traps body heat to protect your hands, which are one of the most exposed parts of the body and prime suspects for lost heat on winter rides. In typical Giordana fashion, the gloves are finished with all the touchpoints covered: silicone grip across the palms and up the shift and brake fingers, TechTouch tips on those same digits, and the all-important wiping surface on the back of the thumb so you're not scraping winter boogers off your face with an abrasive softshell made more so by the cold. The extended cuff seals with a hook and loop strap, helping ensure there is no point of ingress between glove and sleeve.

The rest of the palms are made from supple but durable microfiber, and the back of hand from stretchy Lycra and soft, breathable terry cloth to keep your hands cool and dry. Giordana Corsa Lycra Glove - Women's Giordana Corsa Lycra Glove - Women's
When you like a firm grip on the bars, feeling the bumps with a consistent level of damping, Giordana's Women's Corsa Gloves provide the grip you need. The palm is the main story of the Corsa. Giordana applies foam padding to the three critical areas of the hand: the thumb, the heel, and the ball. By moving the padding outward, it covers pressure points while still allowing the glove to move with your hand. Foam padding compresses while riding, giving a little bit of insulation while still allowing a super firm grasp. The back is a traditional and successful mix of Lycra and synthetic terry cloth. The Lycra provides a snug fit and helps hold the palm of the glove against the hand while the terry is there for wiping brows and noses. The Giordana Women's Corsa Lycra Glove has reflective elements on the back. It is secured to the hand with a hook-and-loop closure. Women's gloves are different than Men's in terms of the size range. A Women's Small would equal a Men's XX-Small, if such a size existed. Sizes run from Small to X-Large.

Gloves may not be at the top of your list on a summertime ride, but on a long ride, the lack of padding can start to hurt, or worse, cause nerve damage. The Giordana EXO Gloves are designed for the sweltering summer tarmac, making use of big mesh inserts. Since comfort is really the only reason to wear gloves in the summer months, Giordana opted for individual pads that'll confirm to the bars and your palms, as opposed to big chunks of foam that just get in the way. The pull-on style is great for summer, as well, with just a thin layer of fabric at your wrists.

Giordana Strada Gel Glove - Men's Giordana Strada Gel Glove - Men's
The road is smooth, choppy, rough, and not really a road at all. This is the typical experience of most cyclists and the reason Giordana made their Men's Strada Gel Glove. The back is designed to be soft and form-fitting, the kind of thing you're happy to pull on and keep on all day. It's made of Lycra and moves with you. The thumb is covered in a soft, synthetic terry material, because all of us, even those who claim otherwise, have a nose that needs wiping in the cold and a brow that needs wiping in the heat. The palm starts with a durable microfiber base. Three separate regions of gel padding are then added: one under the thumb, one under the heel, and one across the ball. The thumb and heel are covered with material that breathes, while the ball is covered with microfiber that grips. And an extra grip treatment has been added to the thumb pad as well. The Giordana Men's Strada Gel Glove has reflective elements on the back. It is secured to the hand with a hook-and-loop closure. Sizes run from Small to X-Large.

Giordana Strada Gel Glove - Women's Giordana Strada Gel Glove - Women's
When a glove is too big, cut for man-hands, slides and shifts while we ride. After two hours, it has settled and started to cut uncomfortably into the webs between our fingers. The Giordana Strada Gel Women's Gloves have been cut to the slimmer shape of a lady's hands, while still offering all the heft that we need to stay protected during hours in the saddle. The Amara suede palm has been augmented by gel inserts. Choosing intelligent padding over excessive padding, Giordana makes it possible for you to be able to wear these gloves in comfort whether you are taking a cool-down ride with your kids or are out training for your next century. You'll notice a significant reduction in road vibration, which will reduce your level of fatigue, particularly over longer distances. The soft grippers on the palm increase control and grip in all situations. The backs of the gloves are made from a supple, four-way stretch nylon and spandex. You won't feel any unwanted pressure around your knuckles from an ill-fitting glove, nor will you have to worry about the glove being too large and unformed to your hands. The wrist has a lot of flex to it, aided by the neoprene wrist band and the hook-and-loop closure. The soft terry cloth thumb section makes wiping a comfortable affair.. The third and final clue is the mesh and Lycra back that stretches comfortably and allows cooling air to pass through. Despite its minimal design, the Targa possesses a few comforts to make your ride more pleasant. The thumb is wrapped with terry cloth, so you can wipe your nose or brow. You've seen fellow cyclists out riding your favorite routes dressed in full kit, with matching gloves even though it's warm enough that you're sweating as you ride. If you've found yourself wondering what the point of wearing half-finger gloves on a warm summer or fall ride is, we understand. But we also know that, as one of only three contact points with a bike, your hands take on their fair share of abuse, so we think gloves are among the most under-appreciated pieces of kit. Giro's Jag Gloves provide palm protection with light padding and improve rather than impede your grip on the handlebars with a microfiber palm and moisture-wicking Lycra to keep you comfortable during hot climbs. A microfiber wiping surface on the upper helps keep your sunglasses clear without scratching the lenses, and hook-and-loop straps makes the gloves easy to pull on and off.

Cyclocross races don't stop when the temperature falls and you can't tell if it's raining or snowing (or both) on the course. Whether you're racing or heading out on your daily commute, you're probably already aware of how important it is to invest in the right gloves for cold-weather riding. Giro's Pivot gloves will protect your hands from wintry conditions while still providing the dexterity you need on the bike so you aren't left feeling like you're riding in ski mittens. Giro starts with an anti-microbial X-Static fleece liner, which will insulate your hands from the cold and wick moisture away from your skin to keep the gloves from getting soggy over the course of a ride. The gloves' outer shell is what keeps the elements out, so it's constructed with a Pertex waterproof shell and a Hipora waterproof liner to act as a barrier against rain and wind. Giro includes Clarino synthetic leather on the palms to give you grip on the handlebars and hook-and-loop straps so you can adjust the cuffs of the gloves to protect your wrists. The gloves are constructed with Giro's 3-panel palm design, ensuring they'll be contoured to your hands for the duration of your ride rather than bunched up after a few miles.

Giro Rulla Glove - Women's Giro Rulla Glove - Women's
The numer of contributing factors to the quality of a ride is enormous. From frame size and geometry to shoes and saddles, choices are plentiful -- but, the wrong one will lead to discomfort before the half way point. Giro's approach to cycling apparel, represented here by the Rulla Women's Glove, puts ergonomics, control, and comfort first. This ensures you're connected to your bike without any irritation. Key to achieving this is a merino blend on the back of the hand. It offers warmth on cool nights and early mornings, yet it is highly breathable to keep your hands cool once the sun heats things up. These panels are part of a Super Fit design -- the result of Giro's diverse team of cyclist and engineers working together to make gloves as comfortable as possible. This includes the three piece-palm constructed from AX Suede synthetic leather, which ensures the Rulla expertly follows your palms natural contour. It also prevents bunching at the grips where blood flow and feedback is essential. A side zip and pull-tab make it a simple, struggle-free process of putting the gloves on or taking them off. Giro Strada Massa Supergel Glove - Women's Giro Strada Massa Supergel Glove - Women's
Dr. Giro has the cure for cyclists who want to feel their handlebars without suffering the fatigue-inducing vibrations from a rough road or a washboard trail. The prescription is the Strada Massa Supergel Gloves, which apply medical technology to cure the symptoms of excessive bike chatter. The unforgiving surfaces that cause that chatter may persist, but you'll be able to roll over them without caring. The Strada Massa Gloves feature Giro's Supergel inserts in the palms. Supergel was actually designed for medical applications, so it's definitely up to the task of nursing your hands through sections of rough road or trail. It's able to deform on three axes instead of the usual single axis, so it doesn't create pressure points. In fact, Giro claims that Supergel distributes pressure 300% better than standard gel padding. It also offers a 30% gain in impact resistance and no hardening over time. All of this, and it doesn't recreate the unwieldy bulk of typical padded gloves. The AX Suede palms mimic leather's suppleness but with added durability, so they won't grind to pieces over the course of your next century or on a rough enduro course. They're mated to four-way stretch, breathable mesh uppers, for a firm fit that doesn't restrict shifting and braking or stifle your hands on hot summer days. The gloves are finished with a hook-and-loop strap at the cuff and a soft, microfiber panel for wiping your brow during hot ascents.

Giro Westerly Wool Gloves Giro Westerly Wool Gloves
On early fall days, sometimes you can get away with just simple liners to keep your hands warm while you ride, maybe just throwing a pair on to stay warm on a long descent. As the season goes on though, you may encounter days when your hands are still getting chilly inside your waterproof shell gloves. Giro's versatile merino Westerly Wool Gloves will keep you warm on their own or as a system with another pair of gloves without making you sacrifice dexterity during your race or ride. The Merino wool blend that constitutes the Westerly is not only warm, but it's also highly effective at wicking moisture away from your skin. By keeping you dry, the gloves manage body temperature without making you feel overheated. Additionally, since Merino is antimicrobial, you can skip washing these gloves after every ride without the risk of offensive odors after a day or two. Gore Bike Wear Road Gore-Tex Gloves Gore Bike Wear Road Gore-Tex Gloves
The new Gore Bike Wear Road GTX Gloves, as the name clearly states, rely on a Gore-Tex insert construction that's waterproof, windproof, highly breathable, and certainly warming. We understand that this is a tall order, but Gore alone has proven itself capable of commanding such absolutes. Enough so that we can't really tell you exactly how Gore-Tex works, because it's easily the closest guarded secret in the fabric business. What we do know is that your hands will never be dryer, regardless of how bad the weather is. However, Gore didn't stop at fabrics to keep your hands comfortable. The Road GTX gloves feature a design that's specific to road cycling, and this makeup is most predominantly displayed in the grip of the gloves. Knowing that you're applying consistent force at the webbing between your thumb and pointer finger (think of how you grip the hoods), Gore reinforced the area to resist abrasion and to strengthen the grip. Further along these lines, Gore also added both gel and foam padding to the palm of the gloves in order to absorb road vibration. To improve your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions, Gore also added reflective accents throughout the gloves. And for easy entry and exit, the gloves feature hook-and-loop closures at the wrists. The Gore Bike Wear Road GTX Gloves are available in the color Black and in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large.

Gore Bike Wear Xenon SO Thermo Gloves Gore Bike Wear Xenon SO Thermo Gloves
Getting out on your bike in the dead of winter requires a lot of drive, determination, passion, and windproof, breathable gear. Nobody does windproof and breathable quite like Gore. WindStopper fabric became the benchmark softshell material years ago and it still leads the way. With light, synthetic insulation and windproof breathable Windstopper fabric, the Gore Bike Wear Xenon Thermo SO Glove is ready to give you the upper hand in the battle against Old Man Winter. However, Gore didn't stop at fabrics to keep your hands comfortable. The Xenon SO features a design that's specific to road cycling, and this forethought is most predominantly displayed in the grip of the gloves. Knowing that you're applying consistent force at the webbing between your thumb and pointer finger (think of how you grip the hoods), Gore reinforced the area to resist abrasion and to strengthen the grip. Further along these lines, Gore also coated the fingers in silicone for confident shifts and added both gel and foam padding to the palm of the gloves to absorb road vibration and reduce numbness and fatigue . To make you more visible in low-light conditions, Gore also added reflective accents throughout the the gloves. Gore also added absorbent material on the thumb to allow you to wipe away sweat before it drips into your glasses and snot before it shellacs your 'stache. Gore Bike Wear Xenon SO Gloves are available in White or Black and in from Small to 3XL.

Leatt DBX 2.0 X-Flow Glove Leatt DBX 2.0 X-Flow Glove
As the lightest, most flexible glove in Leatt's trail line-up, the DBX 2. 0 X-Flow Glove satisfies the rider seeking dexterity and tactile feedback, especially across technical terrain where precise handling is needed. Since it's lacking in any substantial padding, we'd recommend it for the dedicated trail rider, as opposed to the enduro racer or park rider thrashing their knuckles and hands on high-stakes hits. Seeing it's meant for dexterity above all else, the NanoGrip palm is comprised of fibers 7,500 times thinner than human hair. This makes it insanely flexible and stretchy, which is what you're seeking for piloting your trail bike with laser-like precision. Following suit with its next-level flexibility, X-Flow upper mesh stretches fluidly while increasing ventilation during uphill slogs and oppressively hot rides. For extra durability, the knuckles and fingers fortify themselves from light abrasion with a brush guard.

Leatt DBX 3.0 Lite Glove Leatt DBX 3.0 Lite Glove
Enduro and all-mountain riders often find themselves bumping into obstacles along the trail, especially with handlebars growing into 800-millimeter territory. Reinforcing your knuckles from the abuse of accidental bumps with abrasive terrain and trees, the Leatt DBX 3. 0 Lite Glove features 3D-molded Armourgel knuckles that deflect stinging impacts. This knuckle protection remains low-profile and flexible, yet it's CE-certified for proven reinforcement from the abusive tendencies of all-mountain riding and enduro racing. The body glove is comprised of X-Flow mesh, with Clarino synthetic leather along the palm. Breathable mesh helps to regulate your hand's temperature, preventing it from overheating when you're climbing uphill or shuttling downhill runs on sticky summer days. Louis Garneau 1 Calory Glove Louis Garneau 1 Calory Glove
If you're looking for an affordable glove that's actually up to the task, the Louis Garneau 1 Calory Gloves fit the bill. They have everything that you need to keep your hands comfortable over rough roads and during long days in the saddle. The top side of the hand is covered in spandex, which breathes well, conforms to the hand's shape, and wicks away moisture. Underneath, a comfortable and durable Amara palm provides grip. Since hot, clammy hands can lead to blisters and general discomfort, the palm is perforated to promote a positive airflow. The ventilation is most prominent in the recess of the palm -- this is Garneau's patented Ergo Air concept, which helps to evacuate moisture. Additionally, 10mm foam inserts reduce hand fatigue from road vibrations, and a soft microfiber thumb acts as a forgiving nose-wiper. As a nice final touch, the Garneau 1 Calory Gloves have a refinement that we wish came on all half-finger gloves -- a puller tab that eases entry and exit. The Louis Garneau 1 Calory Gloves are available in sizes X-Small to XX-Large and in the colors Black, Charcoal, and Ginger.

Warm hands are a beautiful thing, but we also need something a bit beastlier when it comes to maintaining tacky grip on the bar and shift levers--especially with full-fingered gloves designed for chilly conditions. Amara, a synthetic leather, is that beast. Unlike most micro-fiber synthetics, Amara maintains the high-grip feel of a leather grain. Louis Garneau LG Super Shield Glove Louis Garneau LG Super Shield Glove
Riding a bike in wintry conditions with under-insulated gloves is a recipe for disaster. After all, you have to be able to feel the brakes to use them correctly. For the coldest rides, consider the Louis Garneau LG SuperShield Gloves -- they're Garneau's warmest, combining a lobster claw design with superior protection from the elements. However, they also offer plenty of breathability to ensure proper moisture management. For a manufacturer, insulating cycling gloves properly requires maximizing warmth while minimizing bulk. The LG SuperShield Gloves accomplish this feat by combining a Drytex 3M lining with varying thicknesses of Thinsulate interlining. Naturally, there's thicker insulation around the fingers and less at the palm. Because that insulation isn't worth much when saturated, the exterior of the gloves is constructed of Garneau's Breathable Twillwave with a fully waterproof and breathable Hipora membrane. Gloves can become saturated from the inside, too -- that's why Garneau incorporated their Ergo Air concept into these. Strategic ventilation at the palm ensures that sweat has an opportunity to evaporate. An Amara palm with strategically-placed foam padding gives you superior grip and relief from chatter-induced numbness. Reflective piping provides some added visibility. The Garneau LG SuperShield Gloves come in sizes Small through XX-Large and in Black.

After all, when you spend five hours out on the bike, a lot can change over the course of the ride. The Garneau Super Prestige Gloves are made with this unpredictability in mind, and can transform from full-fingered gloves to lobster-style mitts as you ride. We've loved the warmth of lobster gloves for years, so we're happy to report that LG endows the Super Prestige with a pull-out Teflon Spandex covering for extra warmth. However, it's not hard to get too warm when the sun comes out, which is when we want simple, full-fingered gloves. The top of the hand and fingers are made of thermo-laminated spandex, which traps heat and seals out water, and the palm is made from tough Amara synthetic and decked out with Garneau's X-Vent ventilation, designed to keep your hands from sweating while they're gripping the bars. Inside, 70g 3M Thinsulate insulation keeps your hands warm during cold-weather rides. At the palm, Garneau used Biogel progressive padding to reduce the pressure on sensitive nerves, and made sure the fingers were touchscreen compatible so you can answer calls and snap photos.

Louis Garneau Vorttice Glove Louis Garneau Vorttice Glove
In an age where the simple jersey has morphed into a dimpled body suit and our heads are made to suffer under ventless carapaces in the name of aerodynamics, it's easy to forget that our hands are actually the body part leading into the wind. Fortunately, the folks at Louis Garneau think about this stuff a lot more than we do, and the Vorttice Gloves, with their aerodynamic SpeedTech fabric and elongated, seamless cuffs, return for 2015 with the same recipe for a light-handed touch in aerodynamics. At the heart of the Vorttice Glove is Biogel Perforated Padding. Biogel absorbs impacts and vibration to reduce shock-induced injury and fatigue. It also virtually eliminates the numbness associated with hours on the bars, and perforations allow air to flow through the glove to keep your hand cool and dry. The Vorttice also employs Garneau's patented Ergo Air Concept, which channels air through the glove to keep your hand cool, dry, and comfortable. The Vorttice's palm is made from a multi-panel synthetic fabric that feels natural due to its built-in curved finger design. Silicone pullers at the ends of the fingers make it easier to pull the gloves off.

Mavic Ksyrium Pro Thermo Gloves Mavic Ksyrium Pro Thermo Gloves
In Mavic's clothing line, if a piece of gear comes with the venerable Ksyrium label, it means that warmth is priority number one. The Ksyrium Pro Thermo Gloves are designed for riding on seriously chilly days, and while they aren't the absolute warmest glove Mavic makes (that'd be the Ksyrium Pro Thermo+), they will keep your fingers warm on all but the most frigid winter rides. True to its function, the Ksyrium looks almost like a standard winter glove at first glance. The synthetic shell is laminated to a waterproof and breathable membrane and treated with a water-repellent DWR coating, and the gloves are loaded with lightweight Primaloft Sport insulation that stays warm even when it gets wet. While the Thermo+ has a lobster-claw design to keep your fingers together for extra warmth, the Thermo keeps your fingers separated for increased mobility. Mavic included a soft microfiber insert on the thumb for breathability and glasses wiping, and a tough Clarino palm insert that adds durability without sacrificing bar feel. Touchscreen-compatible inserts at the fingertips let you snap a quick photo of the conditions, so you can show everyone how hardcore you are. The long cuff seals up with a hook-and-loop tab to keep heat in and moisture out, and reflective highlights on the fingers help you stand out even when the weather is less than ideal.

They have a synthetic shell that's laminated to a waterproof, breathable membrane and treated with a water-repellent DWR coating. Mavic opts for the lightweight Primaloft Sport insulation because it's non-bulky and stays warm even when it gets wet. The classic lobster-claw design keeps your fingers together for extra warmth, and a soft microfiber insert on the thumb provides added breathability and a surface for wiping glasses or skin. Pearl Izumi Cyclone Gel Glove Pearl Izumi Cyclone Gel Glove
Though they're referred to as shoulder seasons, the transitional weeks of fall and spring often leave us more concerned about our hands. Protecting those extremities is one of the trickiest obstacles of shoulder-season cycling, so items like Pearl Izumi's Cyclone Gel Gloves typically enjoy pride of place on our cold-weather kit lists. Pearl's Elite Softshell fabric is the gloves' main active ingredient. It blends breathability with wind- and water-resistance to help keep you warm and dry while limiting the gradual accumulation of clammy moisture. Spring and fall are the most beautiful times to ride, and synthetic, conductive tips on the index fingers and thumbs ensure touchscreen compatibility so you can document the adventure without exposing digits to dropping temperatures. The palm is also synthetic leather, and its plumped out with gel padding arrayed in a strategic pattern. Some people prefer an unhampered bar feel, but if you're on a 100-mile gravel tour through the autumnal orchards of New England, the added cush might be the difference between enjoying each cider stop and dreading getting back in the saddle. The gloves are finished with long cuffs that secure with hook-and-loop straps, extending coverage to ensure there are no sleeve/glove gaps, even for the long-of-limb. Reflective elements help keep you visible in fall's early dusk and the slow dawns of spring, and a windproof fleece wiping patch protects frosty noses while attending to cold-induced effulgence.

Whether you're grinding out climbs in autumnal canyons or ticking off base miles with a backdrop of budding spring foliage, Pearl Izumi's Cyclone Gel Women's Gloves provide the ideal blend of comfort and restriction-free reach. They're made from Pearl's Elite Softshell fabric, which strikes notes of breathability with wind- and water-resistance to help keep you warm and dry while limiting the gradual accumulation of clammy moisture. The material panels are cut and sewn to correspond with Pearl's 1:1 fit, which targets anatomical accuracy to eliminate the pain-in-the-ass fit issues we often associate with cold-weather gloves. No winter glove will ever be as accommodating as riding barehanded, but the 1:1 fit helps limit restrictions while reaching for shift levers from the hoods. Spring and fall are the most beautiful times to ride, and synthetic, conductive tips on the index fingers and thumbs ensure touchscreen compatibility so you can document the adventure without exposing digits to dropping temperatures. Pearl Izumi ELITE Gel Full Finger Glove - Women's Pearl Izumi ELITE Gel Full Finger Glove - Women's
Learning the hard way that your hands and fingers can take a beating on the bike is something most of us only have to do once. Returning from an all-day ride with blisters and aching palms or being forced to end a ride early is a fate the Pearl Izumi women's ELITE Gel Full Finger Gloves hope to help us all avoid. Pearl's most popular gel glove design, the ELITE Gels feature a lightweight, breathable, synthetic back with a soft, grippy synthetic leather palm to keep you feeling connected to the handlebars. They've also got conductive material on the thumb and index finger, so they'll keep you in touch with touchscreen devices, too. While that's relieving, the real relief comes from cushy gel padding throughout the palm of the glove, which is tasked with dutifully shielding your hands from road noise over the miles. The low-profile wiping surface on the thumb comes in handy for on-the-go lens, screen, or face cleanings, while the hook-and-loop closure makes the gloves more adaptable for riders who might be in-between sizes.

Pearl Izumi ELITE Softshell Gel Glove Pearl Izumi ELITE Softshell Gel Glove
A winter glove's main jobs are threefold: block the elements, manage internal moisture, and impede bar feel as little as possible. Pearl Izumi's Elite Softshell Gel Gloves score strong marks in all three categories, combining the brand's Elite Softshell material with 100g insulation and a relatively modest bulk. They're not as protective as full-on ski mittens, nor are they as minimalistic as Pearl's summer-weight Elite gloves; however, they do strike the ideal balance for the days when bright winter afternoons let you detach the bike from the trainer and get outside for some base miles. Elite Softshell fabric is the gloves' main active ingredient, and Pearl engineered it to ward off wind and water from the outside while allowing breathability to keep your hands dry on the inside. The softshell is backed up with 100g of Primaloft Gold insulation, and the inner face is finished with a soft fleece liner. The palms are also lightly padded, which alleviates pressure points during long base miles spent on the hoods. Pearl's 1:1 Glove Fit and conductive synthetic tips on the thumb and index finger help ensure that your reach on the bars is less restricted and you can still scroll through touch screen menus without expose your delicate digits to the wintery air. After all, once your hands get chilled on a bike ride, the only way to warm them up is to stop.

Pearl Izumi Escape Thermal Glove Pearl Izumi Escape Thermal Glove
It's hard to overstate the importance of gloves like the Pearl Izumi Escape Thermal Gloves. Few accessories are as important for year-round cycling, and the day they come out of the drawer is usually the same day we start thinking about seasonal latte flavors and how to avoid raking leaves. The gloves' Select Thermal fabric is built to maximize the material's effective surface area in order to pull moisture from your skin and then diffuse it across the material's surface for fast evaporation. This keeps your autumn paws drier, which means they stay warm. The insulation is also ideal in the late-fall temperatures where lightweight liners are inadequate but full-blown winter gloves leave your hands a clammy, sweaty mess. Pearl finishes the gloves with a few functional details that help you adapt to the gloved life after a summer spent riding glove-free. The index finger and thumb terminate in synthetic, conductive leather, so you'll be able to document the farmer's market gourds or countryside fall foliage with your smart phone camera, and reflective elements help keep you visible to motorists as dusk begins falling earlier and earlier.

Pearl Izumi Escape Thermal Glove - Women's Pearl Izumi Escape Thermal Glove - Women's
No piece of cool-weather cycling kit is more important for fall and spring spinning than gloves. But not just any gloves. The right gloves. Pearl Izumi's Escape Thermal Women's Gloves are an excellent case in point, blending warmth, comfort, and function in an updated take on the classic knit gloves. While the Escape Thermal Gloves provide a bit more insulation than the knit gloves of yore, we do find that they fill a similar role in our cycling kit bags. The gloves' Select Thermal fabric outdoes its wool predecessors by pulling moisture from your skin and then diffusing it across the material's surface for fast evaporation. This keeps your shoulder-season fingers drier, which means they stay warmer. Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Softshell Lite Glove Pearl Izumi P.R.O. Softshell Lite Glove
The way we see it, there are three tiers of cold-weather gloves that any year-round cycling wardrobe has to meet. The classic knit glove is the first piece of cold-weather kit we put on in fall and the last we take off in spring. The heavyweight lobster glove is the kingpin of winter cycling, keeping your fingers warm through the worst conditions. In between these two extremes lies the Pearl Izumi P. R. O. Softshell Lite Glove, which thrives in temperatures ranging from the high-30s to the mid-50s, providing enough insulation and wind-resistance to keep the cold out without causing us to overheat and get all clammy with sweat. The back of the gloves are comprised of P. R. O. Softshell fabric, a wind- and water-resistant material that also insulates and wicks. It keeps your hands warm and dry, but without the extra insulation from the regular P. R. O. Softshell Glove. Pearl Izumi uses soft, durable Clarino synthetic leather on the palms, and the index fingers and thumbs are tipped with a bit of the same material, with added grip to make them touchscreen compatible. Before you worry that winter gloves signify a total loss in dexterity, we'll remind you that Pearl uses its 1:1 glove fit and palm construction on the P. R. O. Softshell Lite, so you'll enjoy freedom of movement with no restriction between the thumb and forefinger while your hands are on the hoods. The wrist cuff is exaggerated to keep nasty cold drafts out, and a soft bit of windproof fleece on the thumb lets you wipe undesirable matter off your face before you stop into the coffee shop post-ride. Finally, a wealth of reflective elements help keep you visible to motorists in the often dim conditions that characterize winter riding.

The plus is that you add to your fitness; the minus comes when you start subtracting seconds and minutes from your PRs come spring. If you're after those marginal gains, the P. R. O. AmFIB Super Gloves are Pearl Izumi's nuclear option for winter hand protection, and they mean you'll be able to eke out those gains in form while your competition is at home watching football and fattening up on holiday leftovers. The gloves are equipped with Pearl's P. R. O. Softshell membrane, whose wind-resistant properties are further reinforced with a DWR treatment. The membrane combines all three of Pearl's other fabrics (Transfer, Thermal, and Barrier) in order to fend off the elements, retain body heat, and banish internal moisture. It protects 170g Primaloft Gold insulation, which isn't quite on par with the heaviest ski gloves, but--compared to the civilian AmFIB's 130g and virtually every other cycling glove available--it's equal to all but the deepest of winter chills on the bike. The P. R. O. Barrier WxB lining houses another membrane in the form of OutDry, a technology we don't often see in cycling kit. OutDry is waterproof and breathable, both of which are common traits for membranes in this type of winter kit. OutDry outclasses the competition in terms of application, though; it's heat-bonded to the host material, producing a seam- and gap-free construction that outlasts whatever deluge you happen to find yourself cycling in. Of course, some cyclists would rather miss out on training in that kind of weather; we suspect they'll also miss out on the podiums of April and May. Pearl finishes the P. R. O. AmFIB Super with a few functional details that may lack the shiny-new-toy bling of the membranes but are non-negotiable inclusions when it comes to winter gloves. The Clarino palms help to maintain bar feel and provide grip on slippery hoods, reflective details help keep you visible in low-light condit...

Your fingers do a lot for you: grab stuff, activate buttons, throw shift levers, pull brakes, rest thoughtfully on your chin -- they're strong contenders for MVP in the category of somatic digits. Reward their can-do attitude this winter with the Pearl Izumi Softshell Gloves. The PI Softshell technology for which the Select Softshells are named insulates, blocks wind, and resists water so you can ride comfortably in all cold-weather conditions. This barrier is further buttressed with a fleecy interior to achieve a balance of bulk and warmth so you stay comfortable in temperatures from 0 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit without completely losing touch with your handlebars. The strategically reinforced palm and silicone details also help to complement your fingers' bar grabbing, shifting, and braking expertise, and the thermally conductive index fingers and thumbs don't impede the virtually unlimited power your digits enjoy through smartphone touchscreen technology. Reflective elements help keep you visible in low-light conditions. The Select Softshell Gloves may lack the extra waterproof layer, hook-and-loop closure, and Primaloft insulation of the more expensive P. R. O and Elite models, but for economical protection that wards off temperatures below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, this is a hard value to beat. The Pearl Izumi Select Softshell Gloves are available in five sizes ranging from Small to XX-Large in the colors Black and Screaming Yellow.

When it comes to wearing gloves or not in cold-weather conditions, there's really no option -- riding any distance without them is virtually impossible. But when it comes to choosing what gloves you use, well, then there are options. The Women's Pearl Izumi Softshell Gloves lack many of the little extras of the more expensive offerings in the P. R. The PI Softshell technology for which the Select Softshells are named insulates, blocks wind, and resists water so you can ride comfortably in all cold-weather conditions. This barrier is further buttressed with a fleecy interior to achieve a balance of bulk and warmth so you stay comfortable in temperatures from zero to 40 degrees Fahrenheit without completely losing touch with your handlebars. When the thermometer's digits register in the 40s, the blend of materials in Pearl Izumi's Select Softshell Lite Gloves will keep your digits from registering the cold. Select Softshell Lite fabric on the back of the hand leads into the elements, blocking wind and water, while Select Thermal Lite on the palm takes advantage of that protection to insulate your hands' microclimate. Both materials are highly breathable, so they're warm but not stifling and won't trap clammy moisture against your skin. The palms are strengthened with synthetic leather and supplemented with grip-enabling silicone details so you don't drop your bottles or slip off the hoods in the occasionally damp conditions of fall, spring, and early winter. Thermally conductive thumbs and forefingers keep your digits in touch with your digital devices, and a soft, wind-resistant wipe lets you clean your face without abrading your nose. Rapha Leather Town Glove Rapha Leather Town Glove
Rapha's Leather Town Gloves are crafted from African hair sheep leather, making them thin, lightweight, and durable. Rapha selected this type of leather due to the fact that African hair sheep have adapted to their hot and arid home of Eastern Africa with a skin that is remarkably thin and impressively durable, considering its lightweight nature--this results in a leather that is perfect for the demands of cycling. Realizing that high-quality leather alone is not enough to make a sufficient cycling glove, Rapha added a moisture-wicking and odor-resistant Cocona lining and finished the palm with military-grade padding to absorb impact and vibrations.

Santini Maglia Nera Summer Glove Santini Maglia Nera Summer Glove
The Santini Maglia Nera Summer Gloves celebrate a historic, lesser known classification jersey from Italy's Grand Tour. The black jersey, or Maglia Nera, was awarded from 1946 to 1951 to the rider who finished last in the general classification. This surprisingly sought after jersey led to tales of faked mechanicals and other antics in efforts to finish last in the peloton. With a nod to this jersey, the Maglia Nera Gloves are a perfectly ironic addition to any race situation and add some style to leisurely rides with a coffee and donut stop along the way. With a classic short finger style and just the right amount of padding, these gloves provide the support and protection needed for warm weather riding without any extra bulk. Breathable fabrics ensure your hands stay cool and dry while a sweatband-like material across the back of the thumbs provides a soft surface for wiping sweat from your face or glasses without worries of scratching.

SealSkinz Highland Gloves SealSkinz Highland Gloves
Over the years, we've developed a pretty unsurprising checklist for cycling through the holiday season, and the SealSkinz Highland Gloves check every box twice: windproof, waterproof, insulating, and breathable. This checklist was cobbled together over hours spent spinning in misery while our bodies, faces, feet, and especially hands froze in a wet, wintry hell. You've been there. The rides where you're 25 miles out when you realize that your hands have crossed the line from chilly to wet and cold, and it's only going to get worse while you retrace your route to get back as soon as possible. The Highland checks the cold by hiding a healthy layer of insulation behind a wind- and waterproof shell. They manage external moisture with an anti-slip treatment across the palms to maintain grip on slippery hoods and bars. Keeping precipitation and wind out is useless if the gloves trap moisture against your skin, though, so the Highland is also breathable, expelling water vapor and keeping your hands dry from the inside to prevent clammy, then cold, hands.

The road can throw any amount of unpredictable weather and traffic conditions at you in a day, and reacting quickly to what's going on around you is a lot easier if you have a consistent grip on the bars. Lightweight and barely noticeable once you have it on, the Sealskinz Ventoux Classic Glove was designed with a breathable, water-repellent back to protect your hands from road spray and rain, and a textured synthetic palm to provide you with consistent dexterity while you're shifting and braking, especially on hot, humid days. The glove's anatomically arrayed padding cushions and supports your palms on the days you have to ride through construction zones or rough sections of road, limiting fatigue without inhibiting your freedom of movement. Showers Pass Crosspoint Hardshell WP Gloves Showers Pass Crosspoint Hardshell WP Gloves
The team at Showers Pass lives in Oregon, the only state with more British weather than England herself. So when it says that the Crosspoint Hardshell WP Gloves are the warmest, most protective gloves that it makes, you know that it'll handle a freezing downpour like an absolute champion. As the name implies, they're built from a durable hardshell material that's been bonded to an OutDry waterproof breathable membrane. Not only is it waterproof and windproof, but it also allows sweat vapor to escape. This way, your hands won't get clammy and cold through hard exertions. At the liner, Showers Pass incorporated Merino wool. This material is non-abrasive and what's called a "hydrophilic" fiber. This means that it has the natural ability to positively interact with water. In fact, Merino is able to absorb as much as 30 percent of its weight before exuding the sensation of wetness. Additionally, it's naturally antimicrobial, so you'll experience next to no stink from the gloves. This property is furthered by Merino's natural ability to disperse electrostatic charges. So, the gloves will pick up less dirt, grime, and lint in the first place. Plus, there are reflective accents to improve your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions. Silicone grippers have also been added to the fingers in order to keep you in touch with your controls. Basically, if you haven't found riding gloves that are up to the task, and ski gloves are just too bulky, these gloves are right up your alley. The Showers Pass Crosspoint Hardshell WP Gloves are available in the color Black and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.

Showers Pass Crosspoint Liner Gloves Showers Pass Crosspoint Liner Gloves
Whether you're running them by themselves, or under your winter gloves, the Showers Pass Crosspoint Liner Gloves will quickly become an essential part of your cool weather riding kit. Showers Pass constructed the Crosspoint Liner gloves from a synthetic material that wicks moisture away from the skin, while also providing a modest degree of insulation. The touch screen compatible inserts at the fingertips mean that you won't risk losing fingers to frostbite when you have to respond to a high-priority text message. There are reflective accents to improve your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions, and silicone grippers on the fingers keep you in touch with your controls. The fit is articulated and conforming to the hand, which makes them especially useful for layering under winter gloves like the Crosspoint Hardshell. The Showers Pass Crosspoint Liner Gloves are available in the color Black and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.

Unless you're from the Pacific Northwest, and actually live outside, odds are that the crew at Showers Pass spends more time riding in the rain than you. And this should give you plenty of assurance that the Crosspoint Softshell WP Gloves will shield you from the nastiest weather that you'd ever want to ride in. As the name implies, they're built from a malleable softshell material that's been bonded to an OutDry waterproof breathable membrane. Not only is it waterproof and windproof, but it also allows sweat vapor to escape. And while they're not quite as warm as the Crosspoint Hardshell gloves, they're decidedly more versatile. Plus, there are reflective accents to improve your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions. Showers Pass Crosspoint Wind Gloves Showers Pass Crosspoint Wind Gloves
When the wind is cutting right through your everyday riding gloves, but your winter gloves are overkill, the Showers Pass Crosspoint Wind Gloves are exactly what you need. They were constructed from the rugged, three-layer Artex material. And thankfully, this fabric is both windproof and waterproof. Mind you, they're not seam-taped, so the glove itself isn't "strictly" waterproof. However, they'll certainly shrug off most storms that you'll encounter without so much as flinching. The material is highly-breathable, so your hands won't get clammy and cold during long rides. And while they're not as warm as the Crosspoint Softshell gloves, this is completely intentional. Why' Because it makes these gloves completely versatile in the three-season sense. Plus, there are reflective accents that improve your visibility to motorists in low-light conditions, and silicone grippers on the fingers keep you in touch with your controls. The Showers Pass Crosspoint Wind Gloves are available in the color Black and in five sizes from Small to XX-Large.

If the heathered finish, which matches the Giara gravel jersey, doesn't tell you that the Men's Giara Gloves are built for rough roads and gravel, then the additional padding on the palm certainly will. The gloves get thick, foam padding instead of the usual gel--a prerequisite for gravel rides even when you're on 32mm+ tires. Despite that added puff, silicone grip helps keep your hand/hood interface on point. The gloves' slip-on design also keeps the rear profile down, but strategically placed reflective details help them stand out while you're signaling turns in low-light conditions.

Every winter, all cyclists are presented with a choice: brave the elements to earn springtime podiums or stay in watching replay of the previous year's spring classics. They combine a wind- and water-resistant membrane with an internal waterproof liner and insulation throughout, protecting your otherwise exposed appendages by keeping them warm and dry. The incorporation of Sugoi's revolutionary Zap technology also helps protect you from any unplanned interactions with moving vehicles.
