Protect your brain without emptying your bank account with the downhill-ready 7 Protection M1 Helmet. Constructed with a lightweight polycarbonate shell, the M1 houses EPP soft impact foam to help absorb harsh blows on crash landings, while the foam-padded internal furthers your protection by saving your face when you go over the handlebars. Bell Annex MIPS Helmet Bell Annex MIPS Helmet
Rather than continue to sit, miserable and tightly wound, in rush hour traffic five days a week, years of "I should", "I could", and "I'd really like to" have finally given way to a solid resolution to commute by bike. Commuting involves a decent amount of gear, and one piece you won't want to skimp on is the lid protecting your brain. Light and efficient, the commuting-specific Bell Annex MIPS Helmet comes with features that promote safety and comfort while you enjoy fresh air and pleasantly active rush hours. One of the biggest advantages the Annex delivers comes in the form of its MIPS liner, which rotates slightly during oblique impact to absorb brain-damaging rotational energy generated in certain crashes. Together with the Annex's durable shell, you'll be well-equipped if navigating crowded city streets and busy bike lanes results in an unfortunate spill. Anticipating the multitude of weather changes you're likely to experience while commuting, Bell added an Active Air Slider over the helmet's 15 vents to allow you to control the amount of airflow in the helmet. You'll stay warmer on cool days and drier on wet ones with this thoughtful addition. Bell's Float Fit dial makes on-the-go fit adjustments easy, and a soft-brim visor shields against surprise evening showers, helping you maintain visibility and get home safely.

Bell Catalyst MIPS Helmet Bell Catalyst MIPS Helmet
While your friends go slacker, longer, and sloppier on their enduro beasts, you just watch and shake your head. You don't have a problem with enduro and its loud following, but for you, the smooth laps of an XC course have always been where you feel most at home. Wear your Lycra, your carbon-soled shoes, and your Bell Catalyst MIPS Helmet with pride whether you're at a start line or on an after-work training ride; you may get passed on the descent, but you know it's the climbs that count, anyway. While you're dodging past struggling enduro riders on your favorite local climbs, the Catalyst's ultralight design and 18 vents will leave you cool and dry as you push through hard tempo efforts. Plus, a solid In-Mold shell pairs with MIPS to provide you with protection that you'll forget about when you don't need it. MIPS, or Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, refers to the now-ubiquitous Swedish technology applied to the Catalyst in the form of a thin inner basket. This basket lets the helmet's shell rotate independently of your head upon impact in an effort to absorb brain-damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes. Bell's FloatFit and No-Twist Tri-Glide straps give you ample opportunity to get the fit you need, so you can focus on holding your lead on the pack.

Bell Endeavor Helmet - Women's Bell Endeavor Helmet - Women's
Whether you're just getting into riding or your current helmet is sweat-caked and ready to be retired, Bell's Endeavor Helmet offers lightweight, dependable protection with plenty of understated style. Bell starts with an In-Mold polycarbonate shell that's bonded to an impact-absorbing EPS body, followed by its Lightweight Kit to secure the helmet. Lightweight kit is made with a webbed material to add comfort in places where the straps sit next to your skin, and it's designed to not absorb as much sweat as traditional materials -- hopefully extending the time you have until inevitable white patches show up on your straps. The Endeavor features Bell's proprietary TAG Fit System as well, which allows you to adjust the helmet laterally and vertically so that it's truly secure in the event of a crash. Bell perforates the sleek, compact shell with 19 vents to keep you cool on your hottest, slowest climbs, and the helmet's shape was developed with Bell's Overbrow Ventilation design, which aims to direct airflow over your head and into the vents as efficiently as possible.

Bell Endeavor MIPS Helmet - Women's Bell Endeavor MIPS Helmet - Women's
Whether you're just getting into riding or your current helmet is sweat-caked and ready to be retired, Bell's Endeavor MIPS Helmet for women is a lightweight, dependable presence with plenty of understated style. Bell starts with an In-Mold shell that bonds polycarbonate to an impact-absorbing EPS body and finishes with its Lightweight Kit fastening straps, which use a webbed material that sits more comfortably next to your skin and isn't as prone to absorbing sweat as traditional materials--hopefully making your dog less apt to use your helmet as a salt lick when not in use. The Endeavor features Bell's proprietary TAG Fit System as well, which allows you to adjust the helmet laterally and vertically so that it's truly secure in the event of a crash. In addition to a secure fit, you'll also benefit from MIPS technology. MIPS, or Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, appears in the Endeavor in the form of a thin liner that's designed to rotate slightly upon impact to absorb rotational energy generated by certain crashes. Bell Event XC MIPS Helmet Bell Event XC MIPS Helmet
While we'd like to save every possible gram during XC events, proper head protection is a must. Bell's Event XC MIPS Helmet navigates the apparently contradictory demands of low weight and high protection by reinforcing a lightweight, road helmet design with Multi-Directional Impact System (MIPS) and an In-Mold Polycarbonate shell. The two protective elements move independently of each other, so while the shell is absorbing direct force, the MIPS layer is dissipating the rotational forces of oblique impacts that cause your brain to dangerously deform. Like the non-MIPS model, the Event with MIPS uses Bell's TAG (Twin Axis Gear) fit system so you can dial in the right fit along two different adjustment points: the diameter of the retention system and its position in the helmet. The Overbrow ventilation system helps pull cool air into the front of the helmet and push warm air out the back, keeping heads comfortable, even on hot days.

Bell Full-9 Helmet Bell Full-9 Helmet
Bell's Full-9 helmet packages all its engineers' expertise from motosports into a bike-specific helmet. They also gathered a year's worth of feedback from professional downhill riders to make this their flagship bike helmet. Ready to take on anything you'll find on your mountain or BMX bike, the Full-9 is one of the best full-face helmets money can buy. Bell's engineers built the shell of the Full-9 with unidirectional carbon, Kevlar, and a fiberglass blend. This makes for a highly durable and incredibly lightweight helmet that doesn't weigh you down like other full-face helmets. The Overbrow Ventilation system uses 10 vents to actively channel air over your head from the front to back to keep you cool as you ride. Bell packed the Full-9 with features to keep you safe and to enhance your overall riding experience. The helmet's removable camera mount seamlessly connects your favorite GoPro or Contour camera to the best spot on the helmet. It's a removable, 360-degree breakaway mount that allows your camera to pop off when you fall in any direction--protecting your neck, camera, and the helmet itself. If you are injured, you can use Bell's Eject System, which allows safe removal of the helmet due to a recess in the EPS that allows the cheek pads to quickly slide out. To make your ride more enjoyable, Bell added Soundtrax--built-in speaker pockets and cable routing out the back of the helmet so you can pump tunes without getting tangled up.The helmet weighs around 1050 grams and is certified to CPSC; ASTM BMX, Downhill, and CE standards. Finishing touches include a padded chin strap with a D-ring closure, a fully-adjustable Flying Bridge visor, and integrated roost guard.

Bell Gage MIPS Helmet Bell Gage MIPS Helmet
Bell's Gage MIPS Helmet takes the same professional-grade formula of the original Gage and makes one key addition: the revolutionary Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS). Though you're likely familiar with it by now, we think it's worth briefly running through MIPS' function and benefits. MIPS consists of a strategically anchored liner that moves independently of the helmet's shell. When the shell suffers an oblique impact, MIPS allows it to slide across your head, diffusing the impact force applied to your brain by redirecting it. Besides the addition of MIPS, the Gage remains largely unchanged. It's still based on the CPSC-certified Fusion In-Mold Microshell, which involves bonding an EPS foam body to the helmet's shell for increased structural integrity, and it uses the same two-way adjustable Twin Axis Gear fit system to ensure that the helmet's protective measures are in place when you need them. The Gage is finished with a complement of X-Static padding, a quick-dry material with an antimicrobial coating that helps eliminate odor.

Bell Overdrive MIPS Helmet Bell Overdrive MIPS Helmet
Wearing a helmet worthy of a recreational roadie doesn't have to mean dropping pro-level prices. Bell's Overdrive MIPS Helmet weighs just grams more than its pricier siblings and costs a fraction of the price. If getting outside for long Sunday rides and commuting to work are more important to you than heart rate zones and training plans, grab the Overdrive MIPS when your helmet needs replacing. Bell trusts an In-Mold polycarbonate/EPS shell and MIPS liner to provide reliable impact resistance, and we trust that particular combination, too, especially when combined with MIPS. MIPS, or Multi-Directional Impact Protection System, refers to the Swedish technology added to the helmet in the form of a thin, inner basket. This basket moves independently of the In-Mold shell, so it rotates slightly upon impact to absorb and diffuse rotational energy generated by certain impacts. During the majority of your rides, when you hopefully have no need for the helmet's safety features, you'll enjoy an airy array of 19 vents plus easy fit adjustment with Bell's FloatFit technology. Bell treats the straps to make them less likely to absorb sweat--so you can ride for longer before resembling a salt lick or feeling compelled to keep your helmet on for the post-ride shower--and uses a compact, aerodynamic shape inspired by its higher-end models to reduce drag in the wind.

Bell Ramble Helmet - Kids' Bell Ramble Helmet - Kids'
You may wish you could surround your energetic little one with bubble wrap every time they head to the skate park or onto the trails, but that may hurt more than help. Instead, consider protecting your little ripper as they take on faster descents and new challenges with Bell's Ramble Helmet. Bell uses its FormFit method to construct the helmet, which involves attaching multiple impact-absorbing segments to an internal skeleton to give the helmet a contoured, secure fit around your young's rider's head. Additional padding around the neck and cheeks gives the helmet fewer gaps and better cushioning for first attempts at mini-jumps and trails through the woods, and a chin bar buys added reassurance during inevitable spills. They're never too young to start developing their own style, so Bell includes a sticker sheet of designs so your little one can customize their new helmet.

Bell Rush MIPS Helmet - Women's Bell Rush MIPS Helmet - Women's
The Bell Women's Rush MIPS Helmet provides industry-leading impact resistance with edgy style for fun, safe days out on the trail. Bell takes the massive ventilation and comfort of the original Rush and ups its game with the addition of Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) for added confidence on whatever ride the day brings. The big draw with MIPS is its ability to reduce impact force in the event of a crash. MIPS consists of a strategically anchored liner on the inside of the helmet that looks exceptionally simple but serves a rather complex purpose. That little liner is designed to move independently of the helmet shell to essentially redirect impacts and reduce forces from crashes compared to standard, non-MIPS helmets. For external comfort, Bell incorporates its Overbrow Ventilation system in the Rush MIPS, which consists of strategically placed intake ports and channeling that guide cooling breezes across your dome as you ride to prevent overheating. The SpeedDialFit System makes for an easily customizable fit on the fly, and an Airflow brow band sits comfortably against your forehead to keep sweat from dripping into your eyes. Bell Segment Jr. Helmet - Kids' Bell Segment Jr. Helmet - Kids'
Everything from the classic silhouette to the myriad graphical options recommends Bell's skate-style Segment Jr. Helmet for groms whose exploits tend to test the ragged edge of safety. In fact, our only complaint would be that the ABS shell that gives skate-style hats their protective qualities also makes for an occasionally ill-fitting design. To address this, Bell's FormFit design connects discrete interior EPS foam segments with a reinforcing skeleton that allows the carapace to flex while still protecting its contents. Not only does this mean greater comfort, but it offers better protection by eliminating the gaps between your helmet and your head in an ill-fitting helmet. The ABS shell's eight vents represent another nod to comfort, and they help contribute to the low claimed weight of just 413g.

Bell Star Pro Helmet Bell Star Pro Helmet
When it comes to the final sprint, every advantage matters. The Bell Star Pro Helmet, while appearing to be just another well-vented helmet, is actually a stealth aero helmet designed to slice through the wind when every second counts. The Bell Star Pro was essentially designed as a wind tunnel. The front vents, which use Bell's Active Aero, pull air through to keep your head cool, but when needed, are switched closed to move air around the helmet. The Overbrow ventilation features a gap between the brow and the helmet, which forces air into the airflow channels that have been designed on the underside of the shell. This effectively cools your head, even when the Active Aero is engaged. To further the aerodynamics of the Star Pro, the straps feature Bell's new lay-flat Cinch system that engages the FloatFit adjustment. The helmet is constructed using Progressive Layering, which uses softer EPS foam at the inner sections and harder EPS at the outer sections. This progression allows the helmet to absorb impact from the outside while protecting your head from the inside.

Bell Star Pro Helmet with Shield Bell Star Pro Helmet with Shield
If you're looking for a ridiculously aerodynamic helmet that also keeps your head cool, your search stops with the Bell Star Pro Helmet with Shield. This helmet blew away the competition in wind tunnel testing, earning the nod as one of the most aerodynamic helmets out there that isn't a pointy-hat time trial helmet. The Star Pro comes with 15 vents designed to channel cooling air around your head while you ride. Its Active Aero ventilation system also lets you block and unblock the vents at the front of the helmet to adjust how much air gets through. Opt for closed vents when you want to eke out every second in a race, and open them up for better temperature regulation on training rides. A tinted Zeiss Shield visor magnetically attaches to the helmet to round out its sleek, wind-cutting profile and protect your eyes from any bugs or debris. Bell even makes sure this helmet is comfy while it slices through the air. A new Cinch system keeps all the straps neatly in place, and the FloatFit adjustment options ensure the Star Pro Helmet with Shield stays securely and comfortably in place as you fly down the road.

The videos of an angry peloton delaying race starts in protest of helmet rules seem a little ridiculous now, but we're sure the reaction would have been different had Bell's Stratus MIPS Helmet been around back then. Bell Stratus MIPS Helmet - Women's Bell Stratus MIPS Helmet - Women's
It's no coincidence that Bell named the all-new Women's Stratus MIPS Helmet after the cloud that rests above all others in the sky because it's designed for women who want to stay protected while adding as few grams as possible to their overall setup. It does so while inheriting many features from the top-tier men's Zephyr, so the Stratus occupies a similarly elevated echelon as its cloud namesake. An aerodynamic shell shape suits the Stratus well to weekend races, but if you're a recreational cyclist who'd prefer to enjoy the scenery rather than ride for time, you'll still benefit from this helmet's low weight and high functionality. While you're out on the roads, a durable Fusion In-Mold polycarbonate shell protects against stray pieces of gravel and direct impacts, while inside, MIPS technology in the form of a thin inner liner addresses oblique impacts. This inner basket rotates slightly upon impact to absorb brain-damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes. With Bell's Float Fit dial, you'll also be able to adjust the helmet laterally and vertically for a safe, secure fit around your head, and the adjustable No-Twist Tri-Glide straps on either side of the Stratus stay in place so you don't spend your ride tugging them back in place when you should be concentrating on the roads. As you pedal along exposed roads in mid-summer heat, you'll appreciate the Stratus' 18 vents, which are positioned to give you a welcoming cool breeze as you ride without impacting the helmet's aerodynamic efficiency or protective properties.

Bell Super 2 MIPS Helmet Bell Super 2 MIPS Helmet
We're stoked on MIPS. Apparently so is Bell, whose Super 2 MIPS Helmet combines everything that we love in the vanilla Super 2 with the noodle-saving properties of MIPS. The helmet's Super 2 DNA includes the same polycarbonate shell and EPS foam. These elements are melded with In-Mold technology to create a helmet that diffuses impacts while maintaining a low weight. The protection extends down the back of the head, and the optional Bell 2R chin bar attaches easily to convert the helmet to a full-face DH model. But you're here for the MIPS. Since its free-floating inner cage effectively takes some of the oomph out of brain-shaking, oblique impacts, we don't blame you. After all, brains are forever -- or at least, they can be, as long as you take care of them. The helmet is finished with an adjustable visor and a breakaway camera mount. Fire up the GoPro.

Bell Super 3 MIPS Helmet - Men's Bell Super 3 MIPS Helmet - Men's
Cruising around the driveway on your grip-shift 9-speed in your classic Bell helmet might've been a defining vignette of your childhood, but we'd hazard a guess that Bell hasn't been on your radar much since you stopped riding the school bus. We'll fill you in on what you've missed. As you've grown taller, lost the braces, cut your hair, and moved out of the mom and pop hotel, Bell's done some growing up of its own. Its newer crop of helmets is ready for a lot more than driveway cruising; return to Bell with the Super 3 MIPS Helmet when you're hunting down tacky dirt on your all-mountain hound and you'll see what we're talking about. The Super 3 MIPS shares a lot with its rowdier DH sibling, the Super 3R MIPS, with the main distinction being the Super 3's affinity for trail and all-mountain riding over DH and freeride. An In-Mold polycarbonate shell stands guard against direct impacts, while a MIPS liner sits inside the helmet, diffusing the rotational energy generated in certain crashes. Bell knows you'll be climbing as much as descending on trail rides, so it punches out 23 vents across the Super 3, plus internal channels along the brow, to help you stay cool and level-headed on never-ending switchbacks. Pop a camera into the included camera mount--it'll breakaway in the event of a crash to save it from further damage--and make quick on-trail fit adjustments with the Float Fit dial, which has been lightened and rubberized this year for added comfort.

Bell Super 3 MIPS Helmet - Women's Bell Super 3 MIPS Helmet - Women's
You've got a big weekend planned exploring trails that have been on your list for a while now. After you pack the car and hit the road, you'll have 48 hours of riding by day and campfires by night with your crew to look forward to. Whether you're heading for the mountains, the woods, or the desert, throw the Bell Super 3 MIPS Women's Helmet in your bag to accompany you while you go big. As soon as you put the Super 3 on, you'll be glad you replaced your old, clunky helmet for this sleek new lid. In addition to an In-Mold polycarbonate and EPS foam shell, Bell constructs the Super 3 with MIPS technology. MIPS appears in the helmet in the form of a thin liner that's designed to rotate upon impact to absorb the sloshing, rotational energy created in certain crashes. Comfort deserves a high place when considering a helmet, especially for trail riding. Long climbs, traversing, and rolling terrain demand a lid that won't weigh you down or trap heat. Fortunately, Bell was all over it when designing the Super 3. It carved 23 vents into the helmet's body, plus additional channels along the brow. An integrated camera mount records your POV footage while you ride but breaks away in the event of a crash to protect your pricey gadget, and the adjustable visor works with your goggles of choice in case you can't resist jumping onto a DH flow trail for fun.

Fortunately, enduro lids have come a long way in recent years, and Bell punched out ventilation wherever it could in the Super 3R without compromising the helmet's structural integrity. Brow channels, helmet vents, and chin guard vents all keep air moving and save you from overheating when the sun's overhead. While the In-Mold shell protects against direct impacts, Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) technology helps absorb and diffuse indirect or oblique forces. MIPS is a thin inner basket sits more subtly on the inside of the helmet. During certain crashes, this slim layer rotates slightly to absorb rotational forces. In addition to allover protection, Bell didn't forget about smaller features on the Super 3R as well. It gave the integrated camera and light mount a breakaway design. Bell also constructed the entire helmet with breakaway screws for quick removal in case of a more serious crash. Leaning more towards convenience, the adjustable visor integrates with a range of goggles, and X-Static padding creates a cozy fit between your noggin and the shell. The chin bar is removable too; stash it at camp when you're heading out on an easy trail ride, and bring it with you for rowdier days that involve less climbing.

Bell Super 3R MIPS Helmet - Women's Bell Super 3R MIPS Helmet - Women's
Whether you're heading out for an after work sunset ride with your closest gals or a rowdy Sunday afternoon testing new DH flow trails, shield your brain with the Bell Super 3R MIPS Helmet so you can go all in. This full-face helmet comes with serious protection for rugged DH and enduro racing, but with a removable chin bar and lightweight In-Mold construction, it won't weigh you down on mellower trail rides either. The In-Mold partners of polycarbonate and EPS foam have long worked as a strong team in helmet construction, and they give the Super 3R protective properties without bulk when a user error sends you careening into low-hanging tree branches or flying over the handlebars. Inside the helmet, MIPS technology adds subtle but important protection in the form of a thin, flexible basket, which is designed to move slightly upon impact to absorb brain-damaging rotational energy generated by certain crashes. Add to that a breakaway camera mount and breakaway screws throughout the helmet's body, and your grey matter will be well-guarded if you misjudge a line and find yourself staring up at the sky. In helmet design, comfort is almost as paramount to protection. After all, you and your bike will hopefully spend the majority of your ride time upright. To that end, Bell punched a whopping 23 vents throughout the body of the helmet, an impressive number that's further supplemented with four brow ports and six vents along the chin bar, making sure you'll have all the airflow you'll need on a hot summer day. X-Static padding adds cushion and comfort as the helmet rests against your noggin, while a Goggleguide adjustable visor accommodates your choice of eye shields without any fuss.

Bell Transfer-9 Helmet Bell Transfer-9 Helmet
Little brother to the Full-9, Bell's Transfer 9 is not small on features or protection. Using its unrivaled moto experience, Bell designed a helmet that protects your noggin at about half the price. You'd expect that for half the price, the Transfer-9 would have half the features. But, this is far from the truth. Instead this CE, CPSC, and ASTM certified helmet was designed using slightly heavier materials than the Full-9. Whereas the shell of the Full-9 is carbon, the Transfer uses a composite material -- it adds about 150 grams to the weight of the helmet. In the grand scheme, however, 1200 grams is still very light for a full coverage helmet. It won't make you feel like a bobble-head or tire out your neck muscles. The biggest plus is that it drops the price. The profile of the two helmets is nearly identical with extra padding and coverage in the back. Added to the Transfer-9 is a breakaway camera mount that doesn't compromise the integrity of the helmet. The visor also features breakaway screws. To ensure that the helmet fits your head, the 3D-formed quick-snap cheekpads and interior padding are adjustable. Additionally, the Transfer-9 includes the Eject helmet removal system which allows emergency crews to remove your helmet without riskof further injury, should your day go awry. The padding is removable and washable. The design of a full-face helmet inherently means that there are fewer vents than a standard helmet. Bell combats this using the Overbrow ventilation, which places three large vents at the forehead to move air back through the helmet. Finally, so that you can hear your favorite tunes while on the trails, the Transfer-9 uses Soundtrax speaker pockets. These integrated pockets hold your earbuds so that you don't need to modify the structure of the helmet. The Bell Transfer-9 Helmet comes in sizes X-Small through XX-Large. It is available in 3 colors: Yellow/purple hydra, Glow Green 54, and Black/white/red element.

Catlike Mixino Helmet - Men's Catlike Mixino Helmet - Men's
The first thing you notice when looking at the Catlike Mixino, or any other Catlike helmet, really, is the completely unconventional shell and vent layout. Buried inside that shell, though, is where the real magic sits. Keeping your head protected is always priority number one for a helmet, with keeping your head cool a close second. Catlike forms the Mixino around an Aramid cage it calls the Crash Energy Splitter, which does just what it says. In the event of a crash, the cage is designed to maintain the helmet's structural integrity by dispersing the energy throughout. In addition, Catlike extended the protection for the back of your head beyond what many other manufacturers offer, and it's integrated what it calls MPS eVo, a micro-adjusting fit system that ensures a proper helmet fit. And about that keeping cool priority --Catlike's got that one covered with 39 individual vents, and airflow channels with rear-facing exhaust ports to keep air moving the right direction.

Catlike Whisper Helmet Catlike Whisper Helmet
Some people say they don't like wearing a helmet because they haven't found one that's comfortable. Catlike takes the wind out of that excuse's sails with the Whisper Helmet. It'll protect your noggin just as well as any other helmet out there and is so light and comfy that you'll barely know it's there. This helmet comes with a whopping 39 vents with Dual Flow design, which means that the vents are designed to constantly direct air through the helmet to keep your head nice and cool at all times. Think of it as air conditioning for your brain. To keep the weight down, Catlike uses its Airtube System of hollow elastic tubes to create an inner mesh throughout the helmet, which is a fancy way to say this reinforces the spaces between vents and reduces extra bulk. The Whisper comes with Catlike's Multi Positioning System, which lets riders adjust the fit of the helmet in multiple directions. You can control both the tightness and up-and-down position of the helmet with just one adjustment point.

Fox Racing Rampage Comp Helmet Fox Racing Rampage Comp Helmet
If you salivated at the thought of getting the Fox Head Rampage Pro Carbon Helmet, but couldn't quite see your way clear to paying the Pro Carbon price, take heart that Fox has released the Rampage Comp Helmet, making available many of the same fit innovations as the Pro Carbon, but at a much more palatable price. Though the Rampage Pro was used as inspiration, the Rampage Comp is its own helmet. Made from a race-ready fiberglass shell, the weight remains low while the durability and level of protection is high. The shell comes in two sizes, and the EPS liner comes in three dimensions, so you will be able to find the perfect fit for your noggin. Keep in mind, though, that since the shell shape for the Rampage Comp is different from the Rampage Pro, you'll want to make sure that you're getting fitted to the right size, and not just go on what works for you with the Pro Carbon version. Certainly the fact that Fox has made the Comp in six possible sizes compared to the Pro's five will give you a wider range of fit options. The result is a pro level helmet that will come with practically a custom fit. The EPS liner has a channeled airflow system that will work with the eleven vents to improve airflow through the helmet, keeping you cool. The Shell Specific poured Polyurethane chinbar provides added protection while maintaining an extremely light weight.

Giro Aerohead MIPS Helmet Giro Aerohead MIPS Helmet
Most TT's and triathlons take place anywhere from late spring through early fall, often on some of the hottest days of the year. A TT/tri-specific lid can certainly speed up your ride, but not if it isn't built with enough ventilation to keep you cool. How to make "aero" helmets that save watts without leaving cyclists trapped inside a stifling bubble is a recurring challenge for helmet manufacturers. That's why we're impressed with the Giro Aerohead MIPS Helmet's wind-cheating profile and efficient venting system, which incorporates more cooling channels than the Aerohead Ultimate and features the added protection of Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS). On the outside, the Aerohead uses a pretty standard In-Mold construction; polycarbonate fused to EPS foam acts as an initial shock absorbing layer and keeps the helmet's efficient profile intact. Inside, a MIPS liner feels barely perceptible as you ride, but significantly reduces the likelihood of brain injury in the event of a crash. It's a technology that's becoming ubiquitous in helmets across disciplines because it rotates slightly upon impact to quell the damaging sloshing energy generated by certain impacts. After addressing safety, Giro devoted significant energy to developing its Wind Tunnel ventilation, aptly named for its ability to usher air internally through the helmet without impacting aerodynamic efficiency. You can ride tucked on your aerobars on a sweltering tri course and the helmet will deliver a breeze to cool your head while helping you slice through the wind faster than your competitors wearing regular road helmets. Other touches like a wrap-around ZEISS visor serve to make T1 faster and limit on-the-bike distractions, with the magnetic anchor giving you the freedom to flip the visor up quickly when you don't need it. Giro's Roc Loc Air fit system makes an appearance in the Aerohead as well, delivering simple, efficient adjustability to ensure the helmet stays in place throu...

Giro Air Attack Helmet Giro Air Attack Helmet
We all know that traditional aero helmets serve a very specific function -- even if, they're a bit cumbersome and a tad silly looking. With the new Air Attack Helmet, Giro's engineers have rethought the traditional aero helmet to provide a design that is more compact, better ventilated, and that can be worn for longer periods of time. Giro gave the frontal area of the Air Attack a nearly identical design as the Selector time trail helmet, but "chopped-off" the rear section to save weight. The Air Attack has slimmed down to a claimed weight of 264g. After extensive wind tunnel testing, Giro found that air still moves over the back of the helmet in much of same way even without the material of a long tail. In fact, the Air Attack has only 11% more minimal drag than the Selector. In addition to creating a lighter helmet, Giro's engineer's improved the ventilation of the Air Attack with the Super Fit system. Giro found that as air hits the rider, a very high pressure zone develops at the forehead. Super Fit suspends the rider's head off the EPS, allowing air to enter in the front portion of the helmet and flow over the top of the head and out the large, strategically arranged back channels. The result is an almost 28% increase in cooling power, providing you with around 97% cooling efficiency. This, mind you, is in addition to the 11% boost in aerodynamic efficiency. Losing a tail, sometimes, isn't all that bad.

Giro Air Attack Shield Helmet Giro Air Attack Shield Helmet
Giro's Air Attack Shield Helmet main objectives are to keep you safe and save you watts in your next TT or tri, but don't go skipping your tempo day in the hopes that the Air Attack will carry you to an effortless win. The helmet won't plan your breakaway for you, but its improved shield design will work with the aerodynamic shell to reduce drag and possibly save you time. While you race, your eyes will stay protected from the sun and wind with the redesigned Flash shield's Carl Zeiss lens, which you can flip up or take off completely after your race. Saving watts is important, but racing comfortably matters just as much, so Giro gave the Air Attack extras like removable padding and its Roc Loc Air fit system to give you the freedom to easily customize the fit of your lid easily before or during a ride. And to keep you from overheating under layers of EPS foam and polycarbonate, Giro carved six effective air vents and internal channeling into the helmet tasked with ushering in a cool breeze consistently as you pedal.

Giro Cartelle MIPS Helmet - Women's Giro Cartelle MIPS Helmet - Women's
You've finally been convinced, by benevolent friends, a persuasive significant other, or your own wise instincts, to give mountain biking a try. Well done. Whether you're coming from the road side of things or not, having a dirt-specific helmet is helpful, as it'll give you more protection along the back of your head where you're more likely to get whacked by a tree branch or rock. If function ranks highest on your list, check out the Giro Cartelle MIPS Helmet. It meets the same safety standards as higher priced helmets, sacrificing slightly on weight to meet a more friendly price point. In addition to a solid, lightweight In-Mold shell, the Cartelle also comes with the added protection of MIPS. MIPS, or Multi Directional Impact Protection System, refers to a thin basket added to the helmet's interior, which rotates slightly upon impact to absorb some of the dangerous rotational energy generated in certain crashes. It's not fail-safe, but it's a lot better than helmets of five years ago were. Understanding that trail riding includes a whole lot of climbing, Giro carved 14 vents into the Cartelle, making sure you'll have consistent airflow while you sweat. Giro Cinder MIPS Helmet Giro Cinder MIPS Helmet
You don't have a full race calendar or a spot on the local cycling team, so gear should be more about function than style. Open, empty roads and long sojourns on Sunday afternoons are where you find your joy in cycling, and gear that helps you stay out longer always ends up being what you reach for first. The Giro Cinder MIPS Helmet fits that description aptly, so if your old lid has seen better days, protect your grey matter and stick to your principles by upgrading. Inspired by the competition-minded Synthe, the Cinder shares more than just a similar sounding name with its pricier sibling. Giro anchors the Cinder with a streamlined, aerodynamic shell much like the Synthe's, and ensures it maintains ample airflow out on the roads by carving 26 vents into its shell. Its light, unfussy design succeeds just as well in weekend fondos as it does on weeknight group rides, while inside the helmet, a MIPS liner adds subtle, but important protection. MIPS, or Multi Directional Impact Protection System, refers to the Swedish technology that appears in the form of a thin inner basket, which rotates upon impact to absorb brain-damaging rotational energy generated in certain crashes. Giro Disciple MIPS Helmet Giro Disciple MIPS Helmet
You count yourself as a disciple of freeride and enduro racing and guys like Gwin and Semenuk, so don't cut corners on head protection when you're launching off features and sending lines inspired by them. Replace an old lid with the Giro Disciple MIPS Helmet to make sure your grey matter stays where you need it when a big day doesn't exactly goes as planned. Since you'll (hopefully) spend most of your ride time never needing the Disciple, Giro also made it light and breathable, so you'll stay comfortable and cool during the majority of the time when everything goes to plan. Rather than choosing the traditional In-Mold construction most helmets use, Giro opted for a fiberglass shell for the Disciple MIPS instead. Light and strong, the shell comes equipped to throw down with rocks, gravel, and the occasional tree, with an EPS foam liner for extra backup. Giro even beefed up the jaw area with extra Vinyl nitrile padding for handlebar and tree branch bashings, and it made sure to make the integrated P. O. V. camera mount able to break away in the event of a crash to prevent further damage to both the mount and your noggin. As if that weren't enough, Giro went the extra mile to protect your cognitive abilities by adding MIPS technology to the Disciple as well. Now nearly ubiquitous across the helmet world, MIPS appears in the Disciple in the form of a thin inner basket, constructed to rotate upon impact to reduce the brain-damaging energy generated by certain impacts. It's far from fail-safe, but it leaves you a hell of a lot more protected in some crashes than helmets of five years ago might've. Of course, Giro made room for some fun too. Built-in speakers keep your ride playlist cranking while you rally, and Fit Kit padding makes sure the helmet sits comfortably atop your dome for hours on-end.

Giro Foray MIPS Helmet Giro Foray MIPS Helmet
The rising popularity of helmets such as Giro's Air Attack and Synthe, shown to reduce drag by up to 14% in the right conditions, shines a spotlight on the shift in attention towards aerodynamics in every piece of cycling kit. For those of us who can't quite stomach the cost of those top-end lids, Giro brings us the Foray MIPS Helmet with trickle down aerodynamic technology and industry-leading Multi-directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) design at a much more palatable price point. The big news with MIPS technology is its ability to diffuse certain impact forces in the event of a crash. MIPS comprises a strategically anchored, thin liner on the inside of the helmet that looks exceptionally simple, but serves a big purpose. That little liner is designed to move independently of the helmet shell and reduce impact force compared to standard, non-MIPS helmets. While the Foray isn't quite as light, as breathable, or as slippery in the wind as the Synthe, it utilizes many of the same technologies in both materials and manufacturing as it's more expensive sibling. It's made with Giro's In-Mold construction, a technique that effectively unifies the helmet's EPS foam liner to a polycarbonate shell, as opposed to simply adhering the two together, creating a lighter, stronger structure. The helmet also follows Giro's Streamlined Design philosophy, allowing slick style to permeate the functional aerodynamic shape that dictates the helmet's efficiency. Finally, the Roc Loc 5 retention system dials in the proper fit to your head, comfortably and easily, while still being up to 40% lighter than competing systems.

MIPS consists of a strategically anchored, thin liner on the inside of the helmet that looks exceptionally simple, but serves a big purpose. That little liner is designed to move independently of the helmet shell and diffuse certain types of impact force better than standard, non-MIPS helmets. If you decide to slack out your frame and head for the lifts, the helmet's P. O. V. Plus visor easily integrates with goggles, and the breakaway camera mount gives you a chance to take footage of your biggest sends. Before you ride, you'll be able to get just the right fit quickly with Giro's Roc Loc Air fit system, which works with the Montaro's 16 vents and plush padding to keep air moving and sweat away from your eyes.

Giro Quarter Helmet Giro Quarter Helmet
On the outside, the new Giro Quarter Helmet may look relatively similar to other low-profile, skate-style helmets out there, but it's actually a cutting-edge lid that makes a fine home for your dome. The Quarter is Giro's entry-level helmet into the gravity-chasing, dirt-jumping, pavement-pounding arena of riding, aimed at riders who aren't riding at high cardio thresholds or for lengthy stretches of time. Rather, it's meant for big impacts. This tradeoff means it's not as heavily ventilated or as light as some cycling helmets, but the tradeoff is superb protection that's as thorough as you can get without putting on a full-face. Again, it's not as light as a road helmet, for example, but the Quarter is actually the lightest helmet Giro's ever made with an ABS (high impact) shell. The exterior is comprised of a polyurethane bumper that encases the EPS foam liner, altogether forming a triple shield of protection. Giro's Super Fit shape and Fit Kit replaceable pad system ensure that you can dial in the perfect feel f your Quarter.

Giro Quarter MIPS Helmet Giro Quarter MIPS Helmet
Giro's lowest profile helmet is now available with more protection than ever for your most thrilling rides. Take the Quarter MIPS Helmet to the trails for affordable protection, without added bulk. The helmet includes an outer shell made of impact-absorbing ABS plastic, and it has the distinction of being the lightest Giro helmet made using ABS. The shell surrounds an inner EPS foam liner with riveted webbing anchors to reinforce its strength, and now includes MIPS for added safety. MIPS, or Multi Directional Impact Protection System, refers to the Swedish technology that can be added to helmets in the form of a thin inner layer that rotates slightly upon impact to absorb the brain-damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes. Less rotation, less likelihood of a head injury. As an extra, Giro made the decision to add a polyurethane coating around the outside of the EPS liner to give the foam some protection in the areas where it's most likely to be damaged during bumps and scrapes. The included Fit Kit foam pads are removable so you can get a customized fit, and they can even be washed, if you're so inclined. Eight vents keep the Quarter breathable, and rather than use their universal shell size, Giro makes the Quarter in three Super Fit sizes to make sure you're getting the right fit.

Like the more expensive Giro helmets, the Revel is designed using the In-Mold Construction method. This means that the exterior polycarbonate shell is fused with the foam liner so that the two work as one in the event of a crash. The EPS liner is also identical to Giro's other helmets because Giro doesn't think that your head is worth any less than that of a pro rider. And you get 22 vents incorporated into the shell to move air across your head so that you keep cool. Giro also added a removable visor for those sunny days. To secure it to your head, Giro uses the Acu-Dial retention system.

Helmets are perhaps the kings of diminishing returns -- after all, every bicycle helmet sold in the US is subject to the same testing, and requires the same certification. Giro Savant MIPS Helmet Giro Savant MIPS Helmet
There is no guarantee you'll never crash. But wearing a helmet designed with the utmost attention to detail is a way to fight back against impacts. And speaking of fighting, the Giro Savant was developed using head impact studies from boxing to inform its design. A collaboration between Giro and MIPS, the Savant is designed to work with your body's natural defense system. The protective layers of your head are able to move laterally to absorb and diffuse impact. In a similar manner, the shell of the Savant doesn't just absorb impact energy, it is able to slide and redirect the force across a larger area. It works much like the sliding action of tectonic plates. The Savant uses Giro's In-mold construction, which fuses a layer of polycarbonate to the EPS foam body, keeping the helmet light on your head. Twenty-five vents and internal air channels allow airflow throughout the helmet to keep your head cool. Giro Section Helmet Giro Section Helmet
If you're going to ride in town, doing your daily commute, why not abandon the roadie influenced helmet and get one that is more subdued and less threatening to the natives in your area. The Giro Section helmet could be an integral part of your high-performance civilian styled bike wear. Though the Section looks like a muted version of a standard skate helmet, it is a bit different. It has an expanded polystyrene liner like their other road and mountain helmets and uses an in-molded polycarbonate shell to add toughness and abrasion resistance without adding significant weight. The limited number of vents, it has eight, lends strength so it is a great helmet even if your urban riding is geared more towards seeking out the best wallrides and stair gaps on your way to the dirt jumps just outside of town. For all-mountain riders, the Section works great for all-day adventures, because it's lighter than a standard ABS-shelled helmet of this style. It's designed to be used with Giro's line of goggles so you'll know that they'll always fit great in dusty conditions. The Giro Section helmet comes in small, medium, and large and is available in three colors -- Matte Black, Matte Gold Transparent, and White/Gold. Giro Section Helmet Giro Section Helmet
Today's skate-inspired helmets look good, but often suffer from 'all-show-and-no-go' syndrome. That's because the manufacturer is more worried about the style than the features. This is not the case with Giro, who puts solid technical features into every helmet they make. Case in point: the Section helmet. The Giro Section has all the skate-inspired styling that you can cram into a helmet, but it has something else--In-Mold construction. The EPS foam body is bonded to the polycarbonate shell for increased strength. The result a helmet that doesn't just look good, it protects like a pro-level high-tech helmet. The Section also has the fewest number of vents of any Giro helmet except the Air Attack. That means it can be built lighter than most helmets, because it has fewer weak spots built in.

Giro Selector Helmet Giro Selector Helmet
When Giro looked to up its aero game, it didn't just paste new stickers onto its Advantage helmet. It looked at the data and redesigned it to create the Giro Selector. This helmet is now a standard in the professional peloton and should be a part of your aero kit as well. Giro used wind tunnel testing to sculpt a shape that works with your position on the bike to lessen the drag coefficient. On the front end, you'll notice the eye shield. Not only does this minimize tear-inducing wind in your eyes, it also smooths the leading surface so that the air moves over it faster. An added benefit is that the shield also acts to block out excess wind noise. Two vents help direct the air through the helmet and out the back vents to cool your head. For those who prefer sunglasses, however, the shield is removable. On the other end, the tail of the Selector helmet is closed on the underside and comes in two lengths, 10mm and 45mm. Each is designed to work with your body position and the choice depends on how low your shoulders and arms are. The helmet should sit low and close to your back when you are in an aero position. To secure the Selector, Giro uses the Roc Loc TT system. Different from the older Roc Loc 5 system, the TT uses a spring leaf system to apply even tension to the front and back of your head in order to secure the helmet. The body of the helmet is an EPS-injected molded liner with the Giro SL Roll Cage system and a polycarbonate shell.

Giro Silo Helmet Giro Silo Helmet
If you've ever given much thought to what happens to a helmet after you throw it away -- worriedly wondering if it's destined for a recycling plant or a landfill after its straps become too inundated with sweat to be saved or a crash forces it into early retirement -- you'll be able to sleep a little easier wearing Giro's Silo Helmet. Made with a biodegradable liner in the style of a sleek urban commuter helmet, it will protect your head as well as a traditionally-constructed helmet while delivering a reassuring dose of environmental responsibility. Starting with an ABS shell to form the Silo's outer layer, Giro replaces the traditional EPS foam body with Expanded Polylactic Acid (E-PLA), a compound exclusive to Giro that's composed of plant biomass. It absorbs impact in the same way as EPS, so you won't be sacrificing safety for sustainability. Giro also uses eco-conscious coconut fiber to construct the webbing and includes adjustable Fit Kit padding and eight vents in the Silo's shell to ensure it stays comfortable and breathable during morning commutes and afternoon jaunts around town. Best of all, when the Silo reaches the end of its lifespan, you don't ever have to say goodbye -- the liner and straps can be safely added to your backyard compost pile to create nutrient-rich soil for next summer's flowers while the rest of the helmet heads to the recycling bin.

Giro Sonnet Helmet - Women's Giro Sonnet Helmet - Women's
Giro focused on comfort, ventilation, and value when it designed the Sonnet Women's helmet. The low-profile design keeps the weight down and reduces the spaceman appearance that large, bulky helmets can give you. More importantly, however, Giro built the Sonnet with 25 large vents and its Roc Loc 5 fit system for all-day comfort. For the construction of the Sonnet, Giro starts with in-mold technology. This makes it possible to give the Sonnet a low profile with plenty of ventilation. Giro opted for its Roc Loc 5 ratcheting, micro-adjustable retention system. The system allows the wearer to adjust both the helmet's tightness and vertical position with one hand, so you can fine tune the fit in the saddle.

Giro Sonnet MIPS Helmet - Women's Giro Sonnet MIPS Helmet - Women's
You've probably seen the MIPS name everywhere -it's certainly taken bike helmets by storm, but what is it' MIPS is a technology that does its best to protect your brain by mimicking what the brain does to protect itself. Namely, MIPS aims to mimic the cerebrospinal fluid that allows the skull and the brain to move independently. This synthetic buffer, as applied in the Giro Sonnet Helmet seen here, allows the shell and the EPS foam to move independently in the event of a tangential force. It essentially redirects the impact in such a manner that it should do a better job in preventing catastrophic brain injuries. Outside of the MIPS tech, the Sonnet is everything you'd expect from Giro -light, breathable, well-fitting, and incredibly comfortable.

Giro Switchblade MIPS Helmet Giro Switchblade MIPS Helmet
If you've got a weekend in the desert and some Semenuk-inspired tricks you're itching to try, don't cut corners on your lid. Giro's brand new Switchblade MIPS Helmet encourages you and your DH monster to get rowdy and send it when you're out on slickrock, but it also backs you up with full face coverage, a removable chin guard, and the added protection of MIPS to help you stay safe when you crash hard. Not every weekend involves staring down do-or-die lines, which is why Giro made the Switchblade's chinbar removable. Snap it off quickly before you head out on a mellower trail ride and enjoy added ventilation from Giro's Wind Tunnel design, included specifically to provide as much airflow as possible on hot, sunny climbs. Giro's tried-and-true Roc Loc Air fit system makes an appearance on the Switchblade as well, but it comes tweaked to DH standards with a bumper protecting the dial from being unintentionally moved when it comes into contact with your pack or body armor. It's hard to believe that MIPS was a little-known technology just a few years ago, as the thin inner basket has become a ubiquitous option in the world of helmets. Giro doesn't mess around with the Switchblade, including the rotating inner liner to absorb the brain-damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes without compromising the helmet's lightness. Whether you've got the chinbar on or not, the Switchblade exceeds safety standards from all major governing bodies. If you're taking a break from POV coverage on a training ride, swap the visor with the integrated mount for the other visor without it; Giro ships the Switchblade with two separate visors to cut down on the risk of unused mounts adding weight and causing injury in crashes.

Giro Synthe Helmet Giro Synthe Helmet
An aerodynamic road helmet, designed for all-day wear, that doesn't have any ventilation doesn't seem like much of an all-day option to us. Sure, cooking your brains for an hour or so in a 40k TT, or a middle-distance triathlon seems acceptable, but when your races stretch out to multiple hours, you'd give just about anything to feel the slightest gust of wind in your hair. But, the drag reduction (read: free speed) that you get from an aero helmet almost outweighs the suffering. Until now. Giro's new Synthe was designed to take what was great about its Air Attack and make it a more comfortable option for long, hot races. The quite-well-ventilated Synthe produces a single drag value from any one of 72 different wind angles, meaning that whether you're facing a headwind, crosswind, or anything in between, your helmet won't make any extra drag (think about what classic, long-tailed aero helmets do in crosswinds), thanks to the use of Aero Mesh Panels, which mimic a flat surface while still allowing heat to escape.

Giro Synthe MIPS Helmet Giro Synthe MIPS Helmet
A classic choice for the riders in the pro peloton and self-sponsored cyclists alike, the Giro Synthe MIPS Helmet blends lightness, ventilation, and now MIPS protection to only further solidify its beloved status amongst the Lycra set. One of the major characteristics setting the Synthe MIPS apart from other similar models is the safety of MIPS; MIPS, or Multi Directional Impact Protection System, refers to the Swedish technology added to the helmet in the form of a thin inner layer that rotates slightly upon impact to absorb the brain-damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes. With less rotation comes less likelihood of a brain injury when you take a spill. Impact protection is usually a feature of helmets you'd rather not put to the test, however, and it's far from the only one that's important. When you're out on a ride, the Synthe's iconic aerodynamic shaping helps reduce drag in the wind, while 19 airy vents work with Aero Mesh Panels to strategically usher air across your head to let heat continuously escape. Giro's Roc Loc Air adjustment system makes fine-tuning the fit of the helmet before a ride quick and easy, so you can make adjustments in the driveway without taking up valuable ride time. When you finish your ride and head to the coffee shop, use the eyewear docking ports to safely perch your pricey sunnies and avoid having them fly off your helmet when you turn your head -- it's just another thoughtful touch of many that have helped earned the MIPS its respected reputation.

Giro Synthe MIPS Limited Edition Helmet Giro Synthe MIPS Limited Edition Helmet
Few helmet profiles are as closely associated with certain teams and organizations as Giro's Synthe. The Synthe MIPS Limited Edition Helmet is a celebration of those associations, and it spans the cycling world from fixie to 11-speed electronic, depending on the colorway. Regardless of what's on the outside, though, it's what's inside that counts. Specifically, the Multi-Directional Impact Protection System (MIPS) basket, which adds some 21st century tech to a sport whose passion often derives from the romance of its 18th century beginnings. The big draw with MIPS is its ability to diffuse oblique impact force in the event of certain crashes. MIPS consists primarily of a strategically anchored, thin liner on the inside of the helmet that looks exceptionally simple but serves a rather complex purpose. That little liner is designed to move independently of the helmet shell to essentially redirect impacts that standard, non-MIPS helmets have to address head-on. On the outside, the Synthe retains all the awesome features that made its non-MIPS predecessor so well-loved in the peloton and the local circuit. Wind tunnel testing shows that it's more aerodynamic than the ultralight Aeon, while giant vents and Aero Mesh Panels funnel air across your dome for a massive cooling effect--a rare combination of fast and comfy. Giro uses Featherweight Webbing straps with a Slimline buckle to hold the Synthe MIPS firmly in place without any of the pesky irritation or distractions that can plague thicker strapped helmets with bulky closure systems. The Roc Loc Air fit system features two-way fit tuning that's easily adjustable on the fly and is ponytail-compatible, making this helmet extra convenient for those of us with long hair. Giro even integrates eyewear docking ports into the Aero Mesh Panels for safe storage of your favorite sunglasses when the clouds come out to play.

Kask Bambino Pro Helmet Kask Bambino Pro Helmet
Amongst the expansive club of sculptural TT/tri lids, you might be tempted to think that all helmets are created equally or that the differences they make in a race are minimal. Rather than fall down that trap, try upgrading your race setup with the Kask Bambino Pro Helmet before you make any snap judgements. The Bambino Pro relies on the same construction materials and safety considerations as most other helmets, but its standard similarities stop there. Instead of being hit in the shoulder blades with a long tail edge every time you move your head during a race, you'll be able to move your head freely in a race with the Bambino Pro's purposely rounded, watts-saving shape. Plus, without the drag of a trailing helmet tail, you'll be less susceptible to getting pulled around by crosswinds or unexpected gusts. Though improving aerodynamics is the Bambino Pro's main objective, Kask's well aware that you won't want to be stuck racing in a lid that's hot and uncomfortable. It shaped the Bambino Pro to include ten small vents for airflow and included its Octo-Fit retention system for easy on-the-fly fit adjustments. Rather than finishing the Bambino Pro with the standard nylon strap, Kask eschewed the standard material and went straight for a supple eco-leather chin strap, guaranteeing you a dose of luxury on every ride and some approving nods for style as well.

Kask Infinity Helmet Kask Infinity Helmet
Though you might not think about it, chances are your cycling helmet is causing extra drag when you're chasing your friends down lonely stretches of highway and sprinting all-out at regional race events. The Kask Infinity Helmet offers an aerodynamic solution to your high-drag helmet woes with its streamlined shape and switchable front vents for adjustable aerodynamics with the flick of a switch. This aerodynamic helmet is the same that's used by Team Sky, Drapac, and other professional outfits. And for good reason too. In fact, overall drag on a bike can be reduced by an astonishing 14% with an aero-optimized helmet. When every bit of energy matters in racing scenarios, the Infinity Helmet is your best bet for reducing drag and gaining a competitive edge. Not content with merely being a one-trick pony, the Infinity is a functional helmet with adjustable venting. The front vents quickly open with a switch located at the top of the helmet. This allows you to adjust the venting with one hand when you're cranking at a high cadence. Keep them fully open when you're climbing and riding under the sweltering summer sun and close them when you're sprinting, chasing, and descending. Keeping you protected from nasty spills, the helmet's polycarbonate outer layer is bonded directly to a polystyrene core for enhanced shock absorption. Softening secondary impacts, Kask's Frame technology consists of a lattice of Kevlar-like material that prevents the helmet from fragmenting upon impact. Plus, you'll find Kask's signature touches for extra comfort, such as its Eco-Leather straps and antimicrobial CoolMax padding that's removable and washable for easy care. Moreover, Kask's Micro Dial retention system keeps the helmet nice and secure with minimal fuss.

Kask Mojito Helmet Kask Mojito Helmet
True to its namesake, the Kask Mojito Helmet is a fresh new take on a head protector. While so many companies are moving toward more subtle rounded designs, Kask draws from the pro issue Vertigo to construct a helmet that turns heads with its 100% Italian style. The Mojito is fabricated with an In-mold construction using expanded polystyrene to reduce pressure on the head upon impact. The fit system is Kask's Up-N-Down ratchet adjustment that allows the helmet to sit below the occipital bone for optimal fit and comfort. The liner features a non-slip gel to ensure your helmet doesn't slide as you move your head around. Twenty six air vents allow air to move freely and help pull perspiration away from your head to keep you cool.

Kask Rex Helmet Kask Rex Helmet
Like a T-Rex crashing its way through the forest after an elusive snack of prey, bomber enduro runs often mean tarrying on the ragged edge and within millimeters of any number of obstacles that may or may not yield when you hit them. The new Kask Rex Helmet is there to protect your dome through it all so you come out of it with a clear mind, a bit of adrenaline, and a few scratches for future battle scar comparisons -- dinosaur bites notwithstanding. The Rex features Kask's MIT technology, which is found in all its helmet offerings and includes a polycarbonate layer covering the shell at the top of the helmet, along the base ring, and across the back for claims of improved safety and protection compared to helmets without this layer. Kask uses an in-mold process to fuse the inner, extruded polystyrene layer to the polycarbonate shell for excellent structural integrity and shock absorption. Inside the helmet, the plush Coolmax padding sitting comfortably against your noggin is removable and washable for long-term, stink-free use. Borrowing from Kask's road line of helmets, the Rex's chinstrap is fashioned from easy to clean eco-leather for a unique pop of functional style. An adjustable visor protects your forehead from branches and debris, and doubles as a convenient shelf for goggles during shady stretches and long climbs. The Rex features a strap retainer on the back of the helmet for additional goggle security, and an integrated action camera mount makes documenting the adventure a breeze.

Kask Vertigo 2.0 Helmet Kask Vertigo 2.0 Helmet
Kask's Vertigo 2. 0 helmet is a looker -- we'll get that out of the way first, because, everything else being equal, we want the helmet that looks great. But there's a lot more to the Vertigo 2. 0 than its pretty face. Buried within the EPS foam that makes up the bulk of the helmet's protective properties is an internal skeleton that not only gives the helmet a structure, but also keeps it from shattering into pieces on impact. This means that you'll remain at least somewhat protected through each stage of a crash. To go along with the finish and technology buried within the helmet are some genuinely nice rider-oriented features. The first is Kask's Up & Down adjustment, which comfortably secures the helmet at the base of the cranium, rather than sitting atop it. Attached to that is an Eco-Leather strap, which is hypoallergenic and non-abrasive, and inside the helmet are removable and washable Coolmax pads.

Lazer Genesis Helmet Lazer Genesis Helmet
Lazer's award-winning Genesis Helmet's design enjoys remarkable favor among the two-wheel set, which is why Lazer hasn't seen much of a need to make any big, crazy changes to it for a few years. If you've been a fan in the past, this year's sleek, no-nonsense design should be plenty familiar to you. Lazer starts with a dependable, six-piece, In-Mold polycarbonate shell to protect against initial impacts. In-Mold construction reinforces the helmet enough to include 19 generous vents, ensuring your head stays cool during hot climbs and sunny rides. For added comfort, X-Static pads line the interior of the Genesis, and they receive an antimicrobial treatment to ward off less-than-desirable odors after you start logging serious miles. The helmet is finished with Lazer's Rollsys retention system, which allows you to fine-tune the fit by using the smooth thumb wheel at the top of the helmet to tighten or loosen the Adjustable Head Basket.

Lazer O2 Helmet Lazer O2 Helmet
Lazer makes its lightweight O2 Helmet for sleek, uncomplicated protection that won't slow you down on your daily rides and weekend races. Like us, Lazer understands that while you probably shouldn't ride without it, a helmet can sometimes feel bulky or suffocating enough that you'd like to -- especially during hot summer rides. For the minimalists at heart, the O2 offers 24 ventilating channels, ensuring you get airflow to every part of your head even on the stickiest, slowest climbs. Protection comes courtesy of the helmet's four-piece, In-Mold, polycarbonate shell, and you can adjust the fit using Lazer's efficient Rollsys retention system. Just move a dial along the top of the helmet to ensure it stays securely in place without feeling uncomfortably tight. Lazer Oasiz MIPS Helmet Lazer Oasiz MIPS Helmet
Lazer's Oasiz MIPS Helmet updates the helmet's three-piece, In-Mold Rigidity Brace System (RBS) and extended side and rear coverage with an inner MIPS lining, which allows the helmet's outer shell to slide across a cyclist's head and reduce the impact of lateral or oblique collisions. MIPS adds an extra element of protection to the RBS system, which works like a reinforcing skeleton to increase protection from direct impacts. Despite the addition to its protective arsenal, the Oasiz MIPS is unchanged in virtually every other aspect. The magnetic Magic Buckle clasp system returns for easy, one-handed operation -- even with trial gloves -- and a complement of 21 vents usher air through the shell, pushing heat out to keep your head cool and dry. It's also got the same Rollsys retention system general throughout Lazer's road line of helmets, which is a fully integrated mechanism that surrounds the head completely and tightens from all sides for a pressure point-free fit. The Oasiz is finished with antimicrobial X-static pads that stretch from the forehead back to above the ears.

Lazer Wasp AIR Helmet with Inclination Sensor Lazer Wasp AIR Helmet with Inclination Sensor
The recent trends in aerodynamic headwear may be marking an end to the highly elongated and stabby time trial helmets of past years that acted like wind sails the second the tail separated from the spine curve. As such, the Lazer Wasp AIR Helmet with Inclination Sensor replaces the traditionally-shaped Wasp with a shorter, more blunt-tailed profile with a wider range of aerodynamic positioning than the old, neck-slammed helmet options. Adding in Lazer's new Inclination Sensor technology means this helmet isn't just aerodynamic, it helps you maintain position even when riding on the rivet and just trying to make it through the home stretch. In addition to all the wind-cheating design, Lazer's Inclination Sensor is what really sets this helmet apart from the swarm of other TT head covers on the market. This little device integrates seamlessly into the back of the helmet, safely out of the way of the airstream, to provide sound and/or vibration feedback when your head moves away from your ideal positioning as a gentle reminder to get back into proper form. You (and your coach) determine the desired position and program the Inclination Sensor specific to that position, with additional programmability around specific angle of diversion to trigger feedback. The sensor's battery will last through six to eight hours of continuous feedback, and is easily rechargeable via USB. The Wasp Air features a streamlined design and an integrated eye shield to create smooth airflow and reduce drag. While riders will see the most advantages when looking forward, the Wasp Air's shaping allows for a similar reduction in drag when looking down. You'll still go fastest focusing on the course ahead, but the helmet won't turn into a parachute when you peek down to check in on your watts, speed, and mileage left to the finish line. The Wasp Air's customizable fit comes complements of Lazer's ATS Advanced Turnfit System and its Adjustable Head Basket, which combine to provide nearly count...

Lazer Z1 Helmet Lazer Z1 Helmet
Known for their bikes, the Belgians are not to be left out of the accessories market. The Lazer Z1 Helmet is a step above its Helium and Genesis designs with more protection in a lighter design. The shape of the Z1 moves the shell of the helmet down across the temple zone at the sides of your head for added impact protection. This T-Pro design uses Lazer's RBS design (rigidity brace system) to hold the shell together in the event of impact to further increase protection to your noggin. At the same time, the front sweeps back up to allow for a full range of vision. More protection has no benefit with a poor fit, which is why Lazer uses its Advanced Rollsys Adjustment System to ensure that the helmet wraps your head with equal tension from all sides and culminates in a vertically adjustable cradle at the back of your head. The chin strap is adjustable to provide a secure fit as well as comfort.

Lazer Z1 Lifebeam DIY Kit Lazer Z1 Lifebeam DIY Kit
Heart rate straps have historically been a somewhat aggravating way to gather heart rate data, what with their constricting tightness, uncomfortable sensors, and uncanny ability to migrate position in the least opportune moments of a ride. While recent developments in wrist-based optical sensors give a bit of relief, watches aren't the easiest to view when you're in the saddle and present an additional tan line in the already comical array of glove, jersey, sock, and short lines we deal with on the daily. Now, Lazer teams up with Lifebeam to bring you strap-free, tan-line free heart rate tracking tucked neatly into your Z1 helmet with the Lazer Z1 Lifebeam DIY Kit.Originating from its work in the aerospace realm, Lifebeam's optical sensor comes with claims of all-weather durability and exceptional resistance to motion for accurate data tracking through even the most extreme conditions. The small sensor comes tucked neatly into a pad that replaces the front pad on your current Z1 helmet, and utilizes ANT+ and Bluetooth 4. 0 protocols to transmit heart rate information to your compatible head unit or tracking app. The one catch is that the sensor needs direct skin contact to measure your heart rate, so you'll have to leave traditional cycling caps and full-coverage beanies at home. The sensor is wired to a transmitter that sits at the back of the helmet, held in place by a mount that Lazer refers to as the "mudcap". The transmitter can be powered on and off with a quick click of a button and features LED lights to indicate statues. It contains a battery with a claimed 17 hours of active run time, which is rechargeable via an included USB charging cable.

Lazer Z1 Lifebeam Helmet Lazer Z1 Lifebeam Helmet
The Lazer Z1 Lifebeam Helmet has two very large plusses going for it. First, the Z1 is probably the most "Euro" helmet in our catalog. Second, we're shipping it as a package that includes the Z1 and an integrated Lifebeam heart rate monitor. We can't really support claims for the helmet's Euro-ness with any empirical evidence (it just feels Euro), but the included sensor system is backed by partner-company Lifebeam's pedigree in keeping tabs on vital signs. Since this pedigree involves monitoring jet pilots and astronauts experiencing stress levels that are often literally out of this world, the company is more than capable of handling the relatively modest hardships of a bike race. Lifebeam builds its optical heart rate sensor into a Z1 forehead pad, so it integrates cleanly with Lazer's peloton-proven, top-tier racing helmet. The sensor does require skin contact, so any headwear that comes between your brow and the helmet's padding array would also interfere with monitoring. A transmitter out back communicates the sensor's findings from head to head unit via Bluetooth 4. 0 and ANT+--the ubiquity of which means it's likely compatible with your current cockpit brain. As mentioned above, the helmet itself is Lazer's peloton-grade model, and it's seen plenty of stage wins atop the heads of Lotto Soudal's climbers and sprinters alike, proving that it's an all-purpose model in the increasingly specialized field of cycling helmets. The generous vents and classic ABS/polycarbonate shell construction strike the standard notes of low weight and high ventilation that we expect from a helmet. Lazer's Rigidity Brace System (RBS), Advance Rollsys System (ARS), and T-Pro design ensure that those qualities don't come with a tax on the helmet's protective abilities. RBS is the helmet equivalent of a roll cage, and the T-Pro design extends that protection to your temples without obstructing your field of vision while you're tucked in on long descents. You know, the descents we...

Designed to suit the needs of downhill riders and mountain bikers alike, the Leatt 5. 0 Composite Helmet brings high levels of both safety and comfort along for the ride. The 5. 0 helmet is lined with ten turbines made of 3D-molded Armourgel--an energy-absorbing material that hardens upon impact--to give your brain protection that actually works better the faster or harder you fall. This innovative technology reduces the head impact at concussion level by up to 30% and the rotation acceleration to the head and brain by up to 40%, thus ensuring a well-protected melon and some peace of mind when you're rallying berms or sending jumps at high speeds. Then, the 3D in-molded V-foam and a 10% smaller shell size further your safety by transferring up to 20% less rotational forces to your neck, head, and brain. Bringing you comfort to match its degree of safety, this full-face helmet is extremely lightweight and highly ventilated for continuous cooling air flow that circulates even at low speeds. Comfort is further bolstered by a moisture-wicking, breathable, anti-odor and washable liner to prevent overheating and offensive stenches. Meanwhile, its built-in visor breaks away easily for rotational reduction when you crash, while the low-friction cheek pads make for an easy removal in an emergency situation. Leatt also designed this helmet's features and shape to pair seamlessly with their Leatt neck brace (sold separately). Plus, its Fidlock magnetic buckle provides you with custom fitting with a quick and convenient twist of a dial.

Louis Garneau Heros MIPS RTR Helmet Louis Garneau Heros MIPS RTR Helmet
A lightweight, versatile design and easy adjustment meet the protection of MIPS in Louis Garneau's versatile Heros MIPS RTR Helmet, which is equally at home training on the roads or protecting you throughout the tense miles of a race. Garneau relies on tried-and-true In-Mold construction to shape the Heros MIPS, fusing together a layer of EPS foam to a hard composite shell for protection without bulk. Within this shell sits an additional inner liner that Garneau names Super MSB, which is essentially another frame serving to reinforce the helmet in the event of a crash. These inner liners work with the 22 vents that Garneau carved into the Heros MIPS' shell to facilitate airflow without sacrificing structural integrity. We're happy to see Garneau adopting MIPS technology, including it as the innermost layer of the Heros. MIPS, or Multi Directional Impact Protection System, refers to Swedish technology added to the helmet in the form of a thin inner liner that rotates slightly upon impact to absorb the brain-damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes. To make sure you're able to take advantage of the helmet's safety features, Garneau includes its Spiderlock 4D adjustment system, allowing you to adjust the width and height of the helmet for your head to achieve as secure of a fit as possible. Plush X-Static removable antimicrobial padding and adjustable straps round out the Heros MIPS RTR's adaptable, aerodynamic design.

Louis Garneau Heros RTR Helmet Louis Garneau Heros RTR Helmet
Blending a light, streamlined shape with road-ready protection, Louis Garneau's Heros RTR Helmet makes an enviable upgrade to your road kit for the coming season. Starting with In-Mold construction, Garneau fuses an outer shell to an EPS foam inner layer, creating a one-piece barrier with greater structural integrity. In-Mold construction is nothing new in helmet design, but Garneau sets the Heros RTR apart from similar offerings by adding proprietary technology to it. This includes its Super MSB, an additional, reinforcing ring that strengthens the helmet's perimeter and makes it less vulnerable when experiencing impact. Super MSB pairs with a secondary inner nerve with the same goal, establishing a sound structure on the inside and outside of the helmet in the event of a crash. Since you'll be spending the duration of every ride in this helmet, save for a few races when you switch to an aero helmet perhaps, we'd argue that comfort is almost as important as safety. Thankfully, Garneau agrees with us, and it carved out space for 22 vents in the Heros RTR to keep cooling air moving through the helmet as you ride. A helmet won't be protect to the best of its ability if it doesn't properly fit your head, and on the Heros RTR, Garneau's Spiderlock 4D fit system uses a durable round dial and flexible plastic cage to allow you to make as many micro-adjustments as you need to get a secure fit without feeling restricted. Adjustable straps and removable X-Static anti-odor padding round out the comfort features of the Herso RTR, and as one last thought towards safety, Garneau prints the entire bottom half of the helmet with reflective ink to keep you visible on the road at all hours.

Louis Garneau P-06 Helmet Louis Garneau P-06 Helmet
Triathlons and TTs can be pricey, since the equipment is exclusive to these events and not as widely distributed. Louis Garneau hears your pain. The Louis Garneau P-06 TT Helmet is packing the same features as many of the top-shelf offerings from other manufacturers at a fraction of the cost. One look at the P-06 and it's immediately apparent that this is a high-quality, high-performance piece of equipment. The first thing you'll notice about the P-06 is the dimpled texture on the top of the helmet. These dimples create turbulence, which makes you more slippery. It's the same principle that golf ball manufacturers rely on to make golf balls fly farther and straighter. The pointed tail on the helmet also makes it more aero by allowing air to flow smoothly over your back. The two large vents at the front of the helmet allow cooling air in, and moisture evacuation channels in the helmet use this airflow to pull moisture away from your skin. The patented Spiderlock Pro II is a helmet stabilizing system with lightly ventilated polymer neck support. It can be easily tightened on the head using only one hand, and its inclination can be adjusted to several positions. Because your helmet is worn next to your skin, Garneau incorporated sealed Airdry padding. This durable padding molds to your head for comfort and is fully washable.

Louis Garneau P-09 Helmet Louis Garneau P-09 Helmet
The Louis Garneau P-09 time trial helmet takes aerodynamics very, very seriously. The front part of the helmet is designed to have as little surface area as possible, and the dimpled surface disturbs the air just enough to increase the flow over the helmet. The tail, which is supported internally, moves air efficiently over your shoulders. Louis Garneau also built a port into the P-09 that allows air to enter at the front, into a channel that exits just behind the ears to release any forward pressure. The vent also works with evacuation channels to improve airflow and provide cooling ventilation. The lens system flips up and out of the way to ease entry and exit. It can be removed with just one hand. Garneau's Spiderlock Pro II keeps the helmet in place and includes a polymer neck support the can be adjusted on the fly with the retention dial. Finally, the length and position of the straps can be adjusted with the Steplock divider, which utilizes a locking cam design.

Louis Garneau Shine MIPS Cycling Helmet Louis Garneau Shine MIPS Cycling Helmet
True to its luminous name, the Louis Garneau Shine MIPS Cycling Helmet is a standout piece thanks to a reflective treatment that's key for riding safely during dawn and dusk hours. As part of LG's Reclaim the Road collection, its reflective ink shines brilliantly on the road. This makes you easy to spot, so traffic can safely navigate around you in low-light and dark hours. Hopefully this reflective treatment means you'll never have to put the helmet's crash-absorbing ability to the test caused by a vehicle running you off the road. Speaking of its ability to disperse impact, the Shine MIPS features In-Mold construction, which pairs a tough polycarbonate shell with impact-dispersing EPS foam. This makes it both lightweight and comfortable, yet reliably tough in the event of a catastrophic crash. It's upgraded with the protection of MIPS, which reduces rotational forces when you hit the pavement at an oblique angle. This technology employs an elastomeric liner that creates a subtle slip plane, helping to disperse damaging rotational forces. Not only is the Shine MIPS brilliantly reflective and reliably protective, but it's also sculpted with 22 large vents that reduce the likelihood of overheating in sweltering heat. Complementing this enhanced breathability, the X-Static liner wicks sweat and prevents funky build-up with an anti-odor treatment. To ensure security, the Spiderlock 4D-adjustment system fine-tunes the helmet both laterally and vertically for a customized fit and feel.

At the back of the shell, the helmet converges towards an inner ring that Garneau refers to as Ringlock, a sleek design we're seeing more and more of from helmet manufacturers that works to preserve the helmet's structure in the event of a crash. Garneau also adds reinforcement to the lightweight shell with a supportive inner frame which works with Super MSB technology to prepare the base of the helmet to protect vulnerable areas while withstanding impacts. Of course, the best way to prevent a head injury is to prevent a collision in the first place, and the Shine is strategically embellished with reflective ink in order to attract the attention of other road users and--hopefully--keep your ride free of any unfortunate events. The reflective details are part of LG's #ReclaimTheRoad (RTR) initiative, which is dedicated to cyclists' safety during low-light hours. Gratuitous use of social media forms aside, this is an idea that we can definitely get behind. Or under, as is the case with the Shine RTR Helmet. Mavic's Aksium wheels have always impressed us. For the money, we're hard-pressed to find any other wheels equal to the abuse that we actually throw at training wheels, year after year, spring after spring. Given that it bears the same name, we know we shouldn't be surprised by the Aksium Elite Helmet's versatility and low weight, but what we still are. The helmet incorporates several of the features that set apart Mavic's more expensive helmets. The exhaustive cranial mapping, the Elite Fit Pad, The Ergo Hold Retention System -- all are present here. The Aksium Elite does have one big omission when compared to the Ksyrium Elite, though: 25g of claimed weight. In a rare coup for the Aksium name, the helmet manages to outpace its Ksyrium counterpart on the scale. We suspect the weight difference owes to the Ksyrium model's more aggressive aerodynamic shaping, but anyone strapping the Aksium Elite on at the bottom of an alpine climb will appreciate those missing grams.

Either way, crashing is a part of riding, so when you buckle your helmet and head out for a rowdy day on singletrack, you want to be wearing a helmet that won't let you down if you lean hard into a corner and unexpectedly find yourself in a cloud of dust looking up the sky. Mavic took safety seriously when designing its Crossmax Pro Helmet, bearing in mind the specific demands of enduro riding and including features you can directly benefit from while you seek out the tackiest lines with your ride crew. Mavic started by shaping Crossmax Pro to provide coverage on the vulnerable areas of the back of the head while ensuring the helmet remained lightweight and breathable, a goal that was facilitated by ample ventilation throughout. Within the helmet, Mavic helps create a more comfortable fit next to your skin by using its Live Fit technology, which involves a band of plush, adaptable XRD memory foam spanning the front of the helmet. This foam customizes the fit to your head shape, ensuring a secure fit and absorbing trail vibrations and impacts on white-knuckle lines and unavoidable crashes. Anticipating you'll be grabbing a pair of goggles or at least sunglasses for most rides, Mavic also shaped the helmet and its adjustable visor with eyewear in mind, aiming to achieve a versatile fit with most goggles that will discourage fogging on days when the trails are especially steamy.

Mavic Crossride Helmet Mavic Crossride Helmet
While it's not the lightest helmet in Mavic's newly established line of head protectives, the Crossride Helmet is the only model that strikes our ideal for the blend of high protection and low weight. With off-road necessities like a removable visor and extended coverage, it meets the demands of aggressive trail riding, but it still manages to shave 10g off of the weight of the more enduro-minded Crossmax Pro model. Low weight doesn't compromise safety, though, as the Crossride is both CE and CPSC certified. Comfort doesn't take a hit, either. Mavic conducted cranial mapping tests to ensure that the helmet closely matches typical head shapes. Mavic also identified the not-so-obvious pressure points and contours, so the Crossride Helmet flows across your skull while you're flowing through your local loops. Like many of its road counterparts, the Crossride is finished with Mavic's Ergo Hold SL Retention System, which dials fit across 6cm of one-handed, on-the-fly size adjustment. The progressive padding of the Crossride Fit pad lining ensures a snug fit without excessive pressure.

Mavic Crossride SL Elite Helmet Mavic Crossride SL Elite Helmet
Sometimes it's tough to tell when you're ready for a new helmet as the miles slip by in your old, comfortable standby. But, after more than a few unexpected crashes courtesy of roots, rocks, disguised branches, and maybe some wandering wildlife, your helmet has more than done its job protecting your head, and it's earned its retirement. Upgrading to a featherweight XC helmet like Mavic's Crossride SL Elite Helmet will remind you of just how old and clunky your old helmet was feeling, with a light, aerodynamic design made with XC races and trail rides in mind. Mavic takes its history in road cycling to XC with the Crossride SL, constructing it to provide extended coverage to the back of the head with an assortment of cooling vents and a sleek shape that won't slow you down on singletrack. Inside the helmet, plush foam padding allows you to make minor fit adjustments, and Mavic thoughtfully included mesh behind the vents with the goal of keeping bugs, bees, and painful small rocks from making their way to your scalp and costing you valuable time while you race. When making fit adjustments, the dial on Mavic's Ergo Hold SL Retention System makes customization easy, so you can be sure the Crossride SL Elite will stay firmly in place once you pedal away from the start line.

POC Cerebel Raceday Helmet POC Cerebel Raceday Helmet
We'll be the first to admit that, over the course of long time trials or triathlon rides, we don't maintain an ideal TT position. This isn't just the rider's fault though, as our yaw angle also changes based on wind conditions, turns in the course, changes in gradients--in short, the dynamic conditions that we experience on every ride outside of a wind tunnel. That's why POC--in collaboration with its in-house WATTS lab and the engineers at Volvo--developed the Cerebel Raceday Helmet. The Cerebel isn't designed as a straight-on aerodynamic lid like the Tempor that debuted years ago on riders like Emilia Fahlin; rather, it's a take-all-comers approach to dodging the wind. POC and Volvo combined their wind-tunnel expertise in order to put the Cerebel through the paces at angles simulating everything from pure, tucked speed to the dynamic body positions and the much more varied yaw angles of time trials that aren't performed on pan-flat courses with a perfectly stationary rider. The result has done more than just impress the professionals at Cannondale-Garmin; it also netted a Eurobike Award for its innovative approach to all-purpose aerodynamics. Of course, for all the focus on going faster, POC is primarily in the business of making helmets that keep you safe during a head-to-anything collision. Toward this end, the Cerebel features an EPS liner with varying densities in order to absorb and dissipate impact forces. The Zeiss visor helps to avoid any impact at all with a tint that highlights any changes or irregularities in the road surface by increasing contrast. The visor itself relies on magnetic attachment points for its own security.

POC Octal Aero Helmet POC Octal Aero Helmet
POC's Octal Aero Helmet doesn't have the egg-shaped alien look of some aerodynamic lids, but its refined design mean you get the same speedy benefits without the weird look and with added features like vents, size adjustment, and a seriously high-vis finish. Designed with input from pro teams, in-house afficionaos, and POC's short-but-illustrious helmet history, the Octal Aero offers extended rear coverage for extra protection--a helmet's first job, after all--and is made primarily from EPS foam, a light but strong material that spreads forces around the helmet instead of concentrating them in one spot. The Unibody shell wraps the foam in a single piece of material for increased durability and aerodynamics, and the vents are strategically placed to optimize smooth airflow as well as killer cooling. The details make the difference though, and POC packed the Octal Aero full of 'em. The click-wheel size adjustment system cinches the helmet down around your head for a snug and comfortable fit, and the molded-in straps give a clean look and help you slide through the air like a greased seal through the water. POC also finished this lid off with its signature AVIP (Attention Visibility Interaction Protection) design, which combines tons of high-visibility elements to make you stand out on the road.

POC Tectal Helmet POC Tectal Helmet
If you're still rocking the helmet you got when... well, you can't remember, it's time to toss it and upgrade already. Like an of-the-moment boy band, helmets don't stay young and innocent forever, so replace it with something with adult worthy staying power, like the POC Tectal Helmet. Sure, it won't last forever either, but it's built with host of the most up-to-date technology by the safety-conscious squad over at POC to keep your gray matter safe when you decide to go big. POC took design elements from two of its most popular helmets to create the Tectal, creating a hybrid with the best features from each. Extensive coverage along the temples and rear of the helmet increases protection to vulnerable areas, while the helmet's unibody design lessens the amount of potential stress points along seams. POC gives considers comfort almost as much as it does safety, and it carved out a range of vents along the Tectal to ensure air stays moving throughout the helmet. Strap your goggles on knowing they'll stay in-place with the included retention strap, while an adjustable visor keeps your field of vision clear from obstructive debris. Before you head out, a simple one-handed turn of the dial at the back of the helmet allows you to adjust for just the right fit.

POC Trabec Race Helmet POC Trabec Race Helmet
POC makes the Trabec in a few versions, including the Race version you see above. This version gets more Aramid netting buried within the EPS foam, which means it's even less likely to break apart upon initial impact than the regular Trabec. What else makes the Trabec different' It starts with the shape -- if there's nothing there, how can it protect you' The Trabec extends much further down the neck and the sides of your head than other helmets, which means better protection even at the most basic level. POC's aramid structure inside the foam, which holds the foam together in the event of an impact like rebar in concrete, and the super-tough polycarbonate shell that disperses impact force across the EPS foam to reduce the amount of impact your dome has to handle, are the helmet equivalent of a seven-inch bike you can pedal anywhere.

Scott Watu Helmet Scott Watu Helmet
Investing in a helmet that will protect you out on the trails doesn't have to mean parting with most of your rent money for the month. Scott's Watu Helmet offers all of the safety features of its pricier siblings, with a price that's far friendlier to your bank account than many alternatives. It uses the same In-Mold polycarbonate and EPS foam construction as Scott's higher-end helmets, so it has the same lightweight layer to protect against initial impacts, just without the extensive venting and shaping that the pricier options include. And while most of the time you have to sacrifice lightness for affordability in helmets, Scott trimmed weight on the Watu to actually make it lighter than comparable options. If you've ever tried to steer your bike with one hand while frantically digging a bee out of your helmet with the other, you'll appreciate the thin webbing Scott adds to the front of the Watu to ward off bugs, bees, and other winged creatures that could interrupt your day on the trails. The Watu's visor can be removed to trim more weight if you're a minimalist, and the included RAS dial fit adjustment and easily adjustable Cam dividers make sure you'll stay comfortable wearing the Watu on the days you're lucky enough to stay out all day.

Six Six One Evo AM Helmet with MIPS Six Six One Evo AM Helmet with MIPS
Crashing a bike isn't exactly rocket science, but handling the impact during those crashes may well be if the new Evo AM Helmet is any indication. Six Six One has sent helmet tech into orbit with the combination of Contego EPS foam--which eats up a claimed extraterrestrial 30% more impact than earthbound EPS--and the MIPS system. MIPS involves a free-moving layer that allows for some tectonic-type give, effectively diffusing the oblique impacts that most crashes typically involve. The MIPS and Contego EPS foam are contained by a well-ventilated shell that extends the coverage down the back of the head. A magnetic Fidlock strap buckle and Boa adjustment system keep all the Evo AM's protective elements firmly in place.

Six Six One Evo AM Tres with MIPS Helmet Six Six One Evo AM Tres with MIPS Helmet
Six Six One knows the standard ingredients for cycling helmets, but it also knows the risks taken by serious all-mountain and enduro rippers, so the Evo AM Tres with MIPS Helmet features some tech that goes above and beyond the typical roadie rig. Like with the non-MIPS version, this helmet is built with Contego foam, which absorbs a claimed 30% more impact energy than EPS foam, the industry standard. It's also got an adjustable visor, dialing retention system, and magnetically secured strap. It's key protective feature is the inclusion of a Multi-Directional Impact System (MIPS). MIPS addresses the specific pressures of an oblique, or non-direct impact, by separating the outer shell from the inner, MIPS layer. In the event of an angled impact, the outer layer slides across the MIPS layer, dissipating rotational force to reduce brain deformation. Since the impact of cycling crashes tends to happen at angles other than 90 degrees, this added element of protection will likely come into play if you take an unfortunate tumble.

Six Six One Recon Helmet Six Six One Recon Helmet
The Recon Helmet is Six Six One's mid-tier mountain lid whose only limitations are the kind of shuttle runs that require full-face coverage and moto armor. If your bike doesn't have a dual-crown fork and eight inches of rear travel, the Recon's in-mold polycarbonate shell is more than equal to any of the terrain you'll encounter. The standard Recon's inclusion of a Boa 270 fit system is an upgrade compared to the similar Recon Scout helmet, and it means that the shell's reinforced body will always be held securely in the right place when you need it -- namely, between you and a hard place. The Recon's body is built to accommodate goggles and glasses, so eye protection can be tailored to the sun, dust, muck, or overcast deluge of any given day. The interior is finished with a complement of antimicrobial pad liners that absorb sweat and fight off odors, and the body is shot through with ventilating channels to help keep static moisture to a minimum.
