BKOOL Electronic Training System Premium Trainer BKOOL Electronic Training System Premium Trainer
There's no point in denying it: training inside is a bummer. It's boring, lonely, boring, and boring, which means making it through the winter in cold climes can really take a toll on your fitness or sanity (or both). Happily, though, BKOOL's Electronic Training System Premium Trainer can translate real rides into virtual ones, let you interact with competitors and teammates, and generally make your indoor ride feel like a real-life outdoor one, so you stay motivated and engaged during the frigid times of year. We should say up front that most of these features, which are in our opinion what set the trainer apart, are a part of the optional 3D World subscription. With 3D World, you can compete against up to 100 other cyclists at once in a peloton, league, or challenge, choose from over 500,000 routes, upload a video of your favorite ride for some real-life scenery, or translate GPS files into custom routes. Perhaps the coolest feature, though, is that when you're riding one of the pre-loaded routes, you can actually "encounter" other real-life riders who are in the middle of the same ride, and even use the voice-chat feature to have a conversation with any rider within 50m of your virtual position, like you would on the real tarmac. Don't worry, though, the trainer itself hasn't been forgotten. It can serve up 1200 watts of resistance, which is the equivalent of a 20+ degree grade, and it moves smoothly through resistance changes so you don't findyourself going from flat to Alpe d'Huez in no time flat. It also comes with an ANT+ USB that can record your data to the cloud, a quick-release rear skewer, and a quiet design that only generates 64 decibels of sounds, so you won't drive family members, coworkers, or neighbors crazy when you go for a spin.

Blackburn Fluid Advanced Level Trainer Blackburn Fluid Advanced Level Trainer
When you're sitting on the couch in your favorite fleece pajama pants trying to talk yourself into kitting up and knocking out those indoor intervals your coach prescribed, having an easy-to-set-up trainer can make all the difference in the world. The Blackburn Fluid Advanced Level Trainer steps in as one of the most easily adjustable trainers out there. With no setup required, it's ready to rock right out of the box with a relatively quiet fluid resistance curve to power all those mid-winter workouts. Blackburn's Advanced Level frame design is a revolutionary piece of engineering. The frame hinges at the front with arms reaching up to clamp against the skewers to securely hold your bike. By incorporating these hinges and eliminating the traditional rear bars, this design allows the arms to rotate for quick and easy installation of a wide variety of wheel sizes without any resistance unit adjustments. The resistance unit stays in place while rider weight provides tension against the roller. Rather than a lever throw to tighten the trainer against the rear skewer, Blackburn uses its FastCrank system. Both sides use threaded rods that run through the trainer frame, allowing you to center the rear wheel easily. However, the right side uses a short crankarm to facilitate a quick setup when you place the bike on the trainer. Once your left side is set, the bike can be held in place and the FastCrank snugs the skewer in place. Its advantage is that it lets you tighten the rear wheel into the trainer with a better feel for the compression against the hub without overtightening it. As an added bonus, the resistance unit features a strong seal to eliminate oil leaks and keep your living room floor clean through even the most intense intervals. You're on your own to wipe up all the sweat though. The Fluid Advanced Level Trainer is compatible with 26in, 650c, 700c, and 29in wheels to accommodate a wide range of bicycles and let you choose the bike that best fits your w...

Blackburn Mag 5 Trainer Kit Blackburn Mag 5 Trainer Kit
Setting up your basement or living room to double as a training studio in the winter months can be as difficult as you want to make it. If a simple, solid setup is what you're after, we'd recommend a TV, some spring classics DVDs, and the Blackburn Mag 5 Trainer Kit. In addition to the Mag 5 trainer itself, the kit comes with its own mat and block for your front wheel, so you'll get everything you need at once. We know a trainer isn't the most exciting way to log miles, but if having early-season fitness when the snow melts is what you're after, the Mag 5 makes a worthwhile investment. Once you receive the Mag 5, it's pretty much ready for riding. The design requires no tools for assembly, and it won't take up an obnoxious amount of space wherever you choose to set it up. While the Mag 5 wouldn't be the easiest trainer to transport to a race, it doesn't require an external power source to run, so you could bring it along for pre-race warm ups if you don't mind sacrificing some space. When you're building winter base miles, you'll have the option to choose from nine different resistance settings, and the system comes with its own quick-release skewer to avoid damaging yours. As long as you're using a bike with wheels ranging from 26in to 29in and a tire no larger than 2. 3in wide, the Mag 5 will get along with any frame.

Blackburn Mag 9 Trainer Blackburn Mag 9 Trainer
Few cycling artifacts are as universally reviled as the indoor trainer. Boring, static, boring, loud, boring--these are just a few of the adjectives that spring to mind to describe our experiences watching late '80s Tour replays on max volume in the garage while tapping out a single, droning tempo for an hour that feels like three or four. Blackburn's Mag 9 Trainer takes a big step toward alleviating that boredom. Nine big steps, actually. The Mag 9 is a magnetic trainer that includes a handlebar mounted switch so you can toggle through nine resistance settings from the saddle. It may not be the equivalent of chasing Fignon up the Alpes, but you can at least approximate resistance appropriate to the terrain you're seeing onscreen. The adjustable resistance allows you to set up interval workouts, virtual hill repeats, and whatever other self-punishments your off-season training plan has in store--all at a fraction of the cost of a smart trainer with a full suite of screens, accessories, and peripherals.

Blackburn Sweat Net Blackburn Sweat Net
You wouldn't expect that an apprenticeship at a local bike shop would reveal lessons in chemistry, but nature becomes apparent the first time someone walks their bike through the door for a spring tune-up after a hard winter of indoor training. Generally, this is when the wily shop veterans shove the newbies out onto the floor to intercept the customer they know all too well. Caustic sweat is a fact of life for some folks. That's why the Blackburn Sweat Net is a good idea if you're planning to spend a few hours or more on the trainer this winter. It will protect your bike frame from the shower of sweat that drips off your face when you hammer down. Hell, it's a good idea even if your sweat doesn't seem to produce a corrosive effect on the alloy and steel component parts of your bike. Keeping your bike clean will be that much easier, and a clean bike is a well-running bike. The Blackburn Sweat Net is made with web straps that cinch on the handlebars and seatpost. It stretches along the length of your top tube to protect your bike frame and components. When it gets yucky, simply throw it in the wash with your kit.

Blackburn Tech Mag 1 Trainer Blackburn Tech Mag 1 Trainer
All cyclists, even the hardest of the hard, must eventually make concessions to circumstances beyond their control. Boonen had to abandon on the way to Roubaix in 2011, Cancellara had to climb off prematurely in Flanders in 2012, and many of us here at Competitive retire annually from the road for the northern Utah winter. We're sure that Boonen and Cancellara enjoyed the support of a network of friends, family, and professionals during their downtime, but many other cyclists of less mythical standing, when forced off the road by winter conditions, find solace in the Blackburn Tech Mag 1 Trainer. Blackburn understands that trainers serve a strictly utilitarian purpose, so the Tech Mag 1 was designed for simplicity and ease of use. It comes pre-assembled and has one, optimized setting of magnetic resistance. This final part is ultimately what defines the Tech Mag 1 as a utilitarian machine. It's designed to maintain your base through the winter, not to accommodate complicated training regimes and interval schedules. This means you don't have to constantly babysit resistance. Instead, you can zone out, re-watch for the millionth time that 1989 Tour footage on your garage TV, and dream of the coming spring classics. If you're riding indoors, the Tech Mag 1's rubber feet protect your floor surface and its folding, lightweight design allows for discreet storage in any closet or under the bed. A steel skewer is provided to protect your own quick release mechanism. Its tapered cones fit most dropouts.

Blackburn Trainer Block Blackburn Trainer Block

Stay a bit more under the radar and stabilize your front wheel with the easily transportable, blissfully equation-free Blackburn Trainer Block. This block raises your wheel about 2. 75in and is compatible with almost any wheel size. It also features a spot to hold a skewer underneath and out of the way, which gives you a few extra minutes to make sure your number's pinned straight instead of frantically searching the car for a loose and rolling race skewer. CycleOps Fluid 2 Power Training Kit CycleOps Fluid 2 Power Training Kit
Riding your bike indoors is less than fun. Sure, you put in a few movies, or blast the music, but nothing reminds you more that you aren't outside and that you probably aren't maximizing those indoor miles. CycleOps knows how hard it is to focus indoors. Its Fluid 2 Power Training Kit is an affordable, yet highly effective indoor training system that also features power numbers. Now, instead of staring at re-runs or worse yet, the wall, you'll focus on your riding First, this training kit includes the CycleOps Fluid 2 Trainer. What makes a fluid trainer different from a magnetic trainer' Well, the resistance unit, rather than being a giant magnet, is encased in hydraulic fluid. Unlike a magnetic unit, where the resistance is external and variable, a fluid trainer relies on pedal speed to increase resistance. Therefore, the harder you pedal the more resistance you experience. Additionally, CycleOps uses Power Band technology that makes the level of resistance also a function of gearing and cadence. This gives you a range from 20watts to 725watts, with a single trainer. The Fluid 2 has a cooling mechanism so that no matter how many watts you produce, you won't see billows of smoke. The Fluid 2's 2. 75in roller means you'll have a smoother ride with less tire wear. It features a wide, stable base so that you'll feel secure on any surface and asymmetrical leveling feet ensure you'll always be balanced. The rear wheel mounts easily and a simple cam-lever tightens the resistance unit around the skewer. You won't have to readjust your bike every time you put it on the trainer. Sprint, jump, and timetrial without the worry that you'll pull the rear wheel out of the trainer. The coolest feature of the Fluid 2 Power Training Kit is the addition of power. The included PowerCal Power Meter and a Joule Cycling computer are the world's first ever power-based meter calculated from heart rate. The algorithms in PowerCal translate heart rate data into the vernacular of ...

CycleOps Fluid 2 Trainer CycleOps Fluid 2 Trainer
For cyclists in Florida or southern California, "winter" is a seriously vague notion, but to the rest of us, the realities of cold, snow, slush, rain, and wind are all too obvious. Even hardcore riders can get shut down, so having a killer trainer like the CycleOps Fluid 2 is the best way to stay fit and strong during the cold winter months. Riding inside can be tough on the psyche, so CycleOps designed the Fluid 2 to be as easy, pleasant, and enjoyable as possible. It's silky smooth, whisper-quiet, and easy to set up, so you have fewer excuses to not ride, and sports a durable alloy construction that's lightweight, strong, and easy to store. Instead of magnetic or mechanical resistance, which is used in most trainers, the Fluid 2 uses hydraulic fluid, which increases resistance as you increase pedal speed. It also employs Power Band technology, which increases resistance as a function of gearing and cadence, so you have a real-road feel when you're stationed in the living room. No matter how hard you go, though, the built-in cooling mechanism won't let the unit catch on fire.

CycleOps Fluid 2 Winter Training Kit CycleOps Fluid 2 Winter Training Kit
For most of us who don't live in a tropical climate, spring racing means a winter spent slugging out miles in the living room. The CycleOps Fluid 2 Winter Training Kit can't melt the snow, but it does minimize the sting of staying indoors and provides everything you'll need to get the most out of those hours. The bulk of this kit is the Fluid 2 trainer, which gives more resistance as the pedals spin faster for a resistance range from 20 watts up to 725 watts. This means that this one little trainer has a resistance range that accommodates everything from a recovery spin to short, hard interval efforts. With a wide, two-inch roller, the Fluid 2 also gives a smoother ride with less tire wear than trainers with a smaller roller. It features a wide base for stability and a simple yet secure locking system to hold your bike firmly in place even when you jump out of the saddle to sprint. The CycleOps Fluid 2 Winter Training Kit comes complete with the Fluid 2 trainer, two climbing blocks (no more propping up your front wheel with old textbooks), a trainer mat to protect your floor, and a sweat guard to protect your bike. It will accommodate tires from 26in to 29in with rear spacing of 120mm, 130mm, and 135mm.

CycleOps Hammer Direct Drive Trainer CycleOps Hammer Direct Drive Trainer
While your friends painstakingly negotiate with neighbors and significant others for limited hours of ear-assaulting wheel-mounted indoor trainer time or risk frost bite to round out the required ride time, you'll be dialed in and crushing out watts on your CycleOps Hammer Direct Drive Trainer. The direct drive design saves wheel and tire wear for the road and carries claims of being "quiet enough to ride in a library," which means you can get your intervals in and keep important relationships intact. The secret to the Hammer is a massive, 20-pound flywheel that utilizes electromagnetic resistance to deliver a smooth, realistic riding experience. While no indoor trainer can ever exactly mirror outdoor ride feel, the Hammer is about as close as you can get. It's able to simulate riding grades of up to 20% and is built to handle up to 2,000 watts, which means even the best pro riders won't be able to max the Hammer out. For the rest of us, it means that this trainer has the range of capability to knock out any workout intensity our coach adds to the schedule. Using PowerTap technology, the Hammer is PowerTuned to provide power readings with a +/-3% accuracy while internal cooling mechanisms ensure readings aren't impacted by heat so your data stays consistent across the duration of each ride. It transmits speed and power data to head units and devices via ANT+ FE-C and Bluetooth 4. 0 protocols, allowing you to read data real time and connect with third-party software and virtual training applications for an interactive training experience. The CycleOps Hammer Direct Drive Trainer includes a Shimano-splined freehub compatible with 8-11 speed cassettes. It's also convertible for compatibility with SRAM XD cassettes with a separately sold XD driver body. As an added touch, an integrated front wheel tray nestles neatly in the trainer for quick storage and easy access to the appropriate front wheel height when in use.

CycleOps Mag+ Trainer w/Adjuster CycleOps Mag+ Trainer w/Adjuster
If you're like most of us, there are days when you need to ride, but the weather just isn't cooperating. So if you're in need of an effective way to train indoors, the CycleOps Mag+ Trainer with Adjuster gives you five different resistance settings, which you can adjust on the fly with a handlebar mounted remote. The smooth magnetic action offers linear resistance, so whether you're trying to replicate a mellow cruise, or a brutal mountain pass, you're set. It won't make spring come any sooner, but at least it'll make the wait a little bit less painful. The classic series Mag frame supports the magnetic flywheel from which the Mag+ derives its name. It provides linear resistance, or in other words, unlike a fluid trainer, the resistance doesn't increase as your wheel travels faster. The Mag+ gives you the option of five levels of resistance, which means that you can go between low-impact base miles and high intensity training without an issue. Best of all, since there's a handlebar mounted remote, you won't have to dismount your bike to make the switch, which is particularly important if you're doing interval training. The CycleOps Mag+ Trainer with Adjuster is available in one size, and in one color.

CycleOps Magneto Trainer CycleOps Magneto Trainer
When all you want is to ride your bike and not deal with cleaning road grime off your bike, or worse, succumbing to the elements of winter, the CycleOps Magneto Trainer is the perfect solution. With its simple design and adequate resistance, you'll be ready to take on the spring training rides with a vengeance. The Magneto is designed to fit most common road and mountain bike tires from 26in to 700c, including those with 120mm, 130mm, and 135mm rear wheel spacing. The quick-load cam locks the bike into place. You won't need to guess to set the same resistance from ride to ride. The simple design allows you to easily mount your rear wheel in the clamp and then adjust the two-inch resistance roller against the tire. The sturdy alloy frame includes asymmetrical rear leveling feet to ensure you're balanced on any surface. A locking ring on the non-drive side keeps your bike in place so you're ready to sprint, spin, and climb without wobbles. And, if you travel with your trainer, the Magneto folds for transport. The Magneto features progressive resistance. Essentially, the flywheel is designed so that as you increase pedal speed, the resistance increases. In this manner, your effort and speed follow each other on a linear curve. There is no adjustment knob, you simply shift gears as you would on the road. The magnetic resistance unit is self-cooling so that you can ride for hours without sending smoke signals. The CycleOps Magneto Trainer is comes in one size. As stated, it accommodates wheels from 26in to 700c. With an adapter, which is sold separately, you may use a 20 or 24-inch wheel.

CycleOps Magnus Trainer CycleOps Magnus Trainer
The industry has recently seen a glut of all-inclusive indoor training set-ups that combine specific trainers, sensors, and training apps in a proprietary tech salad that completely eliminates the user's ability to choose. The CycleOps Magnus Trainer bucks this trend toward proprietary myopia by providing a smart trainer platform that you can link to whatever bike, device, and training app you prefer, empowering your own agency for the best possible indoor training experience. CycleOps turned to the specialists at PowerTap when developing the Magnus. At +/-5%, it doesn't quite have the accuracy of a PowerTap hub, but it was developed with input from PowerTap and the end result was tested against the brand's hubs. It communicates those power numbers using ANT+ FEC and Bluetooth protocols, so it's likely already compatible with whatever head unit or training app-equipped device you prefer. Of course, CycleOps does have its own app in the form of VirtualTraining, but if you're already committed to a program like Zwift, TrainerRoad, or others, then ANT+ and Bluetooth compatibility means the Magnus has you covered there, too. Regardless of your choice, the Magnus' ability to translate power and speed numbers into a virtual experience will let you map your workout with a digital avatar's progress. It's not quite riding outside, but it's the best alternative. Though the Magnus' electromagnetic resistance unit is similar to other CycleOps models, it does ramp-up more quickly than the one used in--for example--the PowerBeam. That means interval work will be more rewarding because the increased responsiveness helps eliminate the dead time while the unit catches up to your power inputs. It maxes out at 1,500 watts, so unless you're Cipo himself or a gold medalist on the track, you're probably not going to be hitting that ceiling too often. The frame itself is based on CycleOps' Classic trainer frame, which the brand accurately--if rather cheekily--describes as "oh-so-sturdy...

CycleOps Phantom 3 Indoor Cycle CycleOps Phantom 3 Indoor Cycle
Bad news, road cyclists: winter's here. Eventually, most of us decide that the possible gains from staying out on the road in unforgiving winter conditions are outweighed by the discomfort of cycling in said conditions, so we move indoors for the long trainer hibernation. If you're fortunate enough to have a CycleOps Phantom 3 Indoor Cycle in the basement, this doesn't mean sacrificing your rear wheel's skewer by locking your road bike into a stationary trainer, losing use of a PowerTap rear hub by getting on a normal indoor bike, or occasionally throwing yourself into the wall during an inattentive moment on rollers. If the Phantom 3's heart is the PowerTap rear hub, then its brain is the Joule GPS+ head unit and its, um, liver is the included heart rate monitor. This network of data-handling presents and manages all the workout metrics that you never knew you needed, and the Joule GPS+ and heart rate monitor also take that show on the road. While the Phantom 3 itself is obviously the star here, the impressive GPS+ head unit definitely warrants some additional attention. Whereas your typical computer will give you speed, average speed, cadence, distance, and even some elevation or topo information, the Joule GPS+ gives you the information you'd normally only have when you're off the bike and in front of your computer. This includes a glut of different power metrics that you can upload to the cloud, transfer to a training app, and parse to identify in-the-saddle weaknesses to later target in training. It's also speaks Bluetooth and ANT+, so you're virtually guaranteed a connection to your preferred smart device. The range of data collection means that the Joule GPS+/Phantom combo's precise metric gathering (an industry-leading +/- 1. 5%--thanks, PowerTap!) makes it an ideal platform for a regimen that lets you manage all of the external variables for training or testing your form, regardless of the conditions outside. The beauty of riding in your living room is...

Pre-assembled for maximum convenience straight from the box, this trainer gets you up and riding within minutes of unpacking from the box. All you need to do is unfold the legs of the PowerBeam Pro ANT+, adjust the Unique Leg Adjustment (in case your floor isn't exactly level), and attach the one-sided skewer clamp dial adjustment, with the included steel quick release skewer bolted through your rear axle. Additionally, a nifty clutch knob perfectly adjusts the roller tension to the tire of your training bike without worrying about it being too loose or overly tight. Since this trainer uses ANT+, it displays performance data on ANT+ cycling computers for real-time analysis as you ride. Its integrated PowerTap power meter provides you with metrics, such as power in watts, power zones, peak power, caloric expenditure in kilojoules, cadence, heart rate, and much more. Plus, the included Mini ANT+ USB stick allows you to control resistance from your computer for customizable training sessions. You can also use this trainer with PowerTap's PowerAgent software for post-training analysis, as well as CycleOps' Virtual Training app for auto-syncing sessions with virtual training routes. Check with CycleOps' requirements for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. Note that the included quick-release skewer accommodates most road and mountain bike frames, and the two-inch resistance unit works with 650b, 700c, 26-inch, 27-inch, and even 29-inch wheel sizes, with tires up to 2. 25-inches wide. Right' The CycleOps PowerBeam Pro Bluetooth Smart trainer makes a mockery of traditional indoor workouts. It was designed for the most demanding riders on earth who want to make the most of every second spent indoors. Starting with the most rudimentary functionality, the PowerBeam Pro Trainer is both foldable and portable. Basically, all that you need to do is to position your rear axle to the mechanism and then turn a dial. Now we know that noise, especially if you are an apartment dweller, is an issue. You'll be pleased to know that the PowerBeam Pro is ranked as one of the quietest trainers in the CycleOps lineup. However, we recommend using the Climbing Riser Block if you intend on getting out of the saddle for any duration of time. And if your floors aren't particularly level, say when you've been relegated to the basement, the trainer features a single-leg leveling adjustment in order to compensate for uneven surfaces. For the actual rolling function, CycleOps included its PowerTuned flywheel. This heavy wheel mimics the feel of rolling by optimizing inertial effect. What does this mean' Inertia is the tendency of an object to resist a change in motion. So, when force is typically applied to a common flywheel, resistance is felt, but dead weight creates dead spots in the wheel's motion. This means that the trainer feels more like you're pushing against a resistant cylinder than riding a bike. However, by precisely tuning the design of the flywheel, CycleOps has eliminated this feeling, and accordingly, it'...

Elite Arion Mag Parabolic Folding Rollers Elite Arion Mag Parabolic Folding Rollers
Rollers are the next best thing to riding your bike on the road or trails, so when Mother Nature or your busy schedule decide that an outdoor ride isn't possible, don't despair. Instead, set your bike up on Elite's Arion Mag Parabolic Folding Rollers and get a realistic, challenging ride in anyway. Your body will thank you for not heading out in the middle of a snowstorm, and when you are able to get outside again, you'll find your legs haven't missed a beat. Elite uses neodymium magnets integrated into smooth, anti-static plastic rollers to provide three levels of resistance during your ride. You'll be able to warm up at an easy pace and then use a slider on the rollers to easily up the pain level for a tempo ride or hard intervals. Rollers are notorious for requiring more of a learning curve than a traditional trainer -- the tradeoff for how realistic they feel -- but Elite sought to make adapting to the Arion Mag as easy as possible by using a parabolic drum design to help you keep your balance as you ride. The design continuously guides the wheel towards the middle of the roller while the platform construction simplifies mounting and dismounting. The plastic rollers are quiet enough to play music or watch cycling highlights on TV while you ride, and the entire setup is foldable, so you can travel with the Arion Mag or store it with ease.

Whether it's for warming up in a shady corner of a parking lot before an event or trying to maintain form through the cold months, rollers are occasionally a necessary evil. Elite's Arion Rollers don't beat around the bush: they're all business with no silly frills to disguise the fact that what you're doing may not be fun, but you're doing it, and that's what counts. The one nod to creative engineering Elite makes is with the parabolic rollers themselves, which help keep you from wandering off onto the carpet and into the wall during moments of inattentiveness when you're daydreaming of spring.

Elite Drivo Interactive Power Meter Muin Trainer Elite Drivo Interactive Power Meter Muin Trainer
You've filled your drawers with cold-weather kit, wrapped your rims in burlier tires, and dusted off the booties and knee warmers, so you're prepared to ride until the snow buries the shoulders of your favorite roads. but once that happens, you won't be able to avoid trainer season any longer. Fortunately, you're not alone. Most of us need to give in and train inside for some portion of the year, and indoor trainers continue to get smarter. Just released this year, the Elite Drivo Interactive Power Meter Muin Trainer is a quieter, more streamlined model compared to Elite's previous trainers. It offers a road-like feel, easy direct-drive setup, and electronic adjustment to make sure your basement suffer sessions pay off come spring. The Drivo was constructed to be used almost exclusively in an at-home gym. It requires an external power source to run, and doesn't completely fold up for transportation, so travel and pre-race warm-ups aren't as convenient as with other trainers. That being said, after its quick, simple setup, you'll enjoy a quiet ride and realistic feel. A 6kg internal flywheel provides the feeling of being on the road, while the entire system syncs with any ANT+ or Bluetooth Smart app or head unit and electronically adapts resistance to match with training plans. While that happens, your head unit will display power measurements taken by the Drivo along 24 points to a +/-1% accuracy as you ride, allowing you to track training and power for the winter season from one source. You'll need to mount your own cassette on the Drivo, as it doesn't come with its own, but what you spend in a second cassette, you'll save in ruined tires compared to rear mounted designs. Plus, Elite focused on making the Drivo as quiet as possible, which means you'll actually be able to train to your favorite tunes without maxing out the volume on your speakers. Finally, it's worth noting that the trainer includes a lifetime subscription to Elite's MyEtraining App and a mont...

Elite Kura Power Meter Accurate Smart Trainer Elite Kura Power Meter Accurate Smart Trainer
There's no arguing that direct drive trainers are the way of the future, saving countless tires and wheels from unneeded wear across the world and ushering in an era of power tracking and interactive software compatibility that seems guaranteed to make riding indoors immensely more tolerable. Elite's new Kura Power Meter Accurate Smart Trainer brings everything to the table with wireless connectivity and precise power assessment, with easy storage so you don't have to be constantly reminded of the next workout by an unwieldy trainer camped out in the middle of your living room. The key to the Kura power meter's accuracy lies in an Elite ergometer nestled within the unit, which measures the torque applied to the transmission shaft and calculates power with a +/-1% accuracy. This is more accurate than many of the commonly used on-bike power meters available, and is in line with the gold standard of power measurement set at just under +/-1%. In other words, the Kura is highly accurate and will provide reliable data to drive your training.By combining fluid resistance with the direct drive design, Elite ensures that the only sounds you'll be hearing are your drivetrain. The low-noise fluid resistance system means indoor interval sessions are as stealthy as the current trend of black on black carbon framesets, which will be much appreciated by your housemates and nearby neighbors as they try to go about their day in peace while you hammer out threshold intervals. The direct-mount design also eliminates the tire and skewer wear associated with traditional trainers, and the resistance is dialed to ramp up while your efforts do, letting you control intensity intuitively with your legs. The stable base keeps you planted whether you're cooling down or hammering out of the saddle, and large flywheel facilitates smooth spinning. No trainer can quite mirror the feel of the road but this design does eliminate the lag and choppiness of other trainers for a closer approximatio...

Elite Turbo Muin Smart B+ Trainer Plus Sensor Accessories Elite Turbo Muin Smart B+ Trainer Plus Sensor Accessories
Nothing beats riding on the road, but a strong spring campaign typically involves paying our winter dues on the trainer. It's no secret that we don't particularly care for the trainer (see our assertion that "nothing beats riding on the road"), but Elite's Turbo Muin Smart B+ Trainer Plus Sensor Accessories makes those stationary, indoor hours that much more bearable. The included Misuro sensor monitors (simulated) speed, cadence, and power output, and the trainer comes with access to the My E-Training App to keep track of your training numbers. Which is all very nice, but the real reason why you'll actually want to put in time on the Turbo Muin is because it's virtually silent. By combining fluid and magnetic resistance with the direct drive design, Elite ensures that the only sounds you'll be hearing are your drivetrain. The low-noise fluid resistance system means indoor interval sessions are as stealthy as the current trend of black on black carbon framesets. Can't sleep' Tossing and turning while fretting over whether or not Sagan will break the curse of the rainbow jersey' Put that anxiety to use with some late night intervals or a pre-work, 5:00 a. m. session without disturbing your significant other or prompting your neighbor to call in a noise disturbance. The direct-mount design also eliminates the tire and skewer wear associated with traditional trainers, and the resistance is dialed to ramp-up while your efforts do, letting you control intensity intuitively with your legs. The stable base keeps you planted whether you're warming down or hammering out of the saddle, and the 5. 9kg flywheel contributes to smooth spinning that doesn't quite mirror the feel of the road but does eliminate the lag and choppiness of other trainers.

Feedback Sports Omnium Portable Trainer Feedback Sports Omnium Portable Trainer
Finding a trainer that's portable enough to take to and from races but solid enough that you'd also want to leave set-up in your basement for indoor winter training can be a lot to ask. Additionally, if you're using it to warm up pre-race, you can't risk damaging a race tire with a rear-locking design. Feedback Sports fills this gap in the trainer market with the Omnium Portable Trainer. Weighing less than 14lbs, the trainer is completely foldable and comes with a heavy-duty, padded tote bag that's the right size to be easily stowed in an airplane's overhead compartment when races require you travel further afield. Despite this portability, once it's set up, the Omnium is rock-solid enough to handle your most punishing indoor workouts. The Omnium unfolds in three parts, so setup is tool-free and quick, and Feedback's engineers created it to accommodate a wide range of bike sizes. Whether you're riding an XXL 29er or a minimalistic crit machine, the Omnium's length and height can be adjusted to adapt to a wide range of wheelbases and frame sizes. The trainer's fork-mount enjoys similar versatility; it's compatible with standard quick-release forks and thru-axles ranging up to and including the new Boost standard. Once you're ready to ride, the Omnium's intelligent design makes a pre-race spin or an indoor interval set quiet and effective, with completely sealed aluminum drums adding resistance using Feedback's magnetic Internal Progressive Resistance (IPR) for a smooth, realistic ride.

Kinetic Cyclone 2.0 Wind Trainer Kinetic Cyclone 2.0 Wind Trainer
Wind trainers are fairly simplistic in function. Basically, it's a fan and roller system that creates resistance so that your indoor training sessions don't have you just spinning your wheels. Before the advent of the wind trainer, you had only a few choices. Ride on rollers, ride an ergometer that didn't replicate your road riding position, or, gasp, train outside. Even when wind resistance units were invented, they featured myriad weaknesses. Kinetic by Kurt addressed the fallbacks of traditional wind resistance units with its classic Cyclone 2. 0 Wind Trainer, one that rides well, travels well, and comes in at a great price. Early wind resistance units were simply 'squirrel cage' fans -- small diameter, louvered cylinders running off tiny rollers that spun quickly and were painfully noisy when going all out. The units were so light, there was almost no momentum in the unit while riding and the moment you let off the gas, speed would drop to nothing. Another problem was their durability; it was too easy to knock the fan out of true or damage the louvers when you traveled with them in your trunk along with other race gear. Working with the idea that they needed to produce wind resistance and have some sense of momentum, Kinetic by Kurt made their roller 2. 5 inches in diameter for easier rolling, less tire wear, and quieter operation. They also decided to work with two fans on either side of the tire roller. Each fan is 6in in diameter and weighs 2. 2 pounds. In other words, they both act to produce resistance and provide momentum. And because of their design and heft, the fan wheels are plenty durable. The noise of the spinning fan blades doesn't become noticeable until 25mph, and at that point you'll be cranking out approximately 349 watts (according to Kinetic's wattage chart) At the very least, it may instill fear in your competition as you warm up for your next time trial. The frame, green as always, is the same as used with the Road Machine. The base i...

Kinetic Fluid Trainer Rock 'N Roll Smart with InRide Sensor Kinetic Fluid Trainer Rock 'N Roll Smart with InRide Sensor
The inevitable is happening. The temperature drops just a bit more each day, leaves begin falling from the trees, and you start having to add extra layers to your kit when you head out to ride. Your bike will soon take up its place in your basement instead of out on the roads, and you'll begin queuing up sitcoms, old race footage, and your most motivating music to prepare for a few months spent on your dusty trainer. You're stuck inside no matter what, so you might as well be riding something that will make you stronger come spring, like the Kurt Kinetic Fluid Trainer Rock 'N Roll Smart with In Ride Sensor. Kurt Kinetic's a big name in bike trainers, and the brand aimed to provide the most realistic road feel possible when creating the Fluid Trainer. A resistance unit helps simulate climbing, while the bike's frame moves just enough to give you a sense of being out on the roads. Supported by springs, the frame moves vertically and laterally, just as your bike would outside, without requiring you to constantly stay balanced the way rollers do. If you want an even more realistic feel, grab the separately sold Turntable Riser Ring and turn or wiggle your front wheel as you ride. As you spin the pedals to 80's pop, a beefy steel roller with a larger-than-average diameter helps minimize wear to your tire, while a similarly burly flywheel helps the resistance unit and frame springs in establishing the feeling that you're out on the road. Kurt Kinetic designed the system so that it can't overheat or stop functioning after too long, with silicone fluid acting as a coolant. The fluid actually requires increasing watts from you for the system to hit higher speeds, rather than just allowing momentum to increase speed over time. It's another small detail that helps the Fluid Trainer behave so realistically, giving new meaning to what an indoor workout can do. This version also comes with inRide sensor technology, which syncs the inRide app to provide you with ample ride da...

Kinetic Magnetic 3.0 Trainer Kinetic Magnetic 3.0 Trainer
The Kinetic Magnetic series of trainers are among the most popular models for a few simple reasons: they're durable, simple to use, and reasonably priced. The latest generation, the Kinetic Magnetic 3. 0 Trainer, makes a few incremental improvements to continue its reign. New this year is the trainer's nine-position thumb lever which allows you to adjust the trainer's resistance. The Mag trainer's progressive resistance is linear and reaches up to 850 watts at (a simulated) 40 mph. Overall, the resistant increments are calibrated to offer greater resistance in the middle of the range (from 1-32 virtual mph), compared to most fluid trainers, making the Mag 3. 0 great for lower-geared machines like mountain bikes, 'cross, or gravel rigs. The resistance mechanism is also highly efficient at dissipating heat, making it more consistent than many competitors, and it's also extremely quiet, so it's easy for you to live with. It also makes your obsessive training easier to live with for anyone who shares your domestic space. Despite those changes, many things are still the same, and we think that's just fine. The stable aluminum chassis still feels like it would survive being thrown off a building--though we should note that this may not fall within Kinetic's unconditional lifetime warranty. As always, the trainer comes out of the box fully assembled, and it folds flat for easy storage. The trainer includes a handlebar-mounted, cable-actuating remote for the resistance mechanism. It accommodates 22 - 29-inch (700c) wheels, and the box includes the necessary cone cups and Kinetic skewer for mounting your bike in the chassis.

Kinetic Road Machine 2.0 Fluid Trainer Kinetic Road Machine 2.0 Fluid Trainer
It seems like every trainer on the market purports to provide a 'more road like feel,' but living in Utah, we ride more than our fair share of trainers, and we've found this to be less than true. The Kinetic Road Machine 2. 0 Fluid Trainer is the exception to this experience, though. Its heavy flywheel, silicone fluid, and massive array of cooling fins add up to a trainer that provides an incredibly consistent power curve. In fact, it's so consistent that Kinetic includes a chart that shows exactly how many watts you'll have to generate to attain a specific (though still stationary) speed. The thing that really sets the Road Machine apart, though, is its lack of a driveshaft -a notorious point of failure in most trainers. Instead, Kinetic uses six pairs of rare earth magnets on the flywheel and impeller. The magnetic strength of these paired magnets mean that the flywheel and impeller are spinning at the same speed at all times, without any mechanical connection.

Kinetic Road Machine Smart Control Trainer Kinetic Road Machine Smart Control Trainer
Infuse some extra motivation into your winter training regimen with Kinetic's Road Machine Smart Control Trainer. Taking the form of a traditional wheel-on trainer and stealthily outfitted with Bluetooth Smart capability, the Road Machine lets you connect to a variety of third party apps, including Zwift and Trainerroad for a more interactive indoor ride experience. As an added touch, it comes packaged with its own quick-release trainer skewer so you ride assured that your race skewers will remain unscratched.Kinetic's Road Resistance Unit boasts a stainless steel roller with a beefy 2. 5in (6. 35cm) diameter, which is a good bit larger than much of the competition. The larger roller means less wear on your tire and it reduces the temperature of the spinning elements. The right side has a 6. 25-pound (2. 84kg) flywheel, one of the heaviest around, that gives the satisfying feeling of momentum when you're spinning up to speed, holding speed, and slowing down. On the left side is a unique two-part fluid resistance unit, which is the heart of their system. As with all trainers, this system builds heat as your ride -- your energy has to go somewhere (in this case friction). To counteract this, Kinetic adds an internal fan and 80 cooling fins on the outside that act like radiator fins. It's impossible to overheat the chamber or reach a point where performance is diminished. The silicone fluid retains its physical properties, even up to the normal operating temperature of 325 degrees F when riding 25mph, resulting in a consistent road-like power curve that increases as your speed increases.

SportCrafters OverDrive Pro Rollers SportCrafters OverDrive Pro Rollers
The SportCrafters OverDrive Pro Rollers solve one of the biggest problems associated with rollers -- usually, they provide only so much resistance. But by combining the benefits of roller training with the resistance of a fluid trainer, the OverDrive Pro provides progressive resistance. This means that as the rollers spin faster, resistance increases in a non-linear fashion, giving you all the benefits of balance and core strength development from traditional rollers with the added resistance found in stationary trainers. The OverDrive Pro Rollers were machined from aluminum. They feature 3. 25in drums with . 125in-thick walls and are 15. 5in wide. The rollers were lathed on the axle for precision runout and balance. Also, they will not distort in the heat or sunlight because they are dynamically spin-balanced. All SportCrafters rollers come with bearings that are greased and sealed, so there's no need to worry about maintenance. The OverDrive also features a steel frame that is zinc-plated and powder coated to last and last. The Rollers are designed to fit wheel sizes 600 to 700c and 26 to 29in. It will accommodate wheelbases from 37. 5 to 44in, as drilled. There is no rider weight limit. The rollers' unfolded dimensions are 60 x 20 x 4. 25in, and folded it is 31. 5 x 20 x 5. 25in.

Trigger Point Nano X Foot Foam Roller Trigger Point Nano X Foot Foam Roller
While it's easy to assume that our feet aren't doing much as we ride, safely encased in sleek shoes and clipped into our pedals, the reality is that all of our muscles are, in fact, connected. So burning calves and tense hamstrings propelling you up a series of climbs can directly impact how your feet feel post-ride. Trigger Point's unforgivingly firm Nano X Foot Foam Roller is designed to stimulate blood flow and promote muscle repair to the often-forgotten muscles and tendons of the foot. Many of the smaller tendons throughout the foot receive less bloodflow than the rest of the body, resulting in slower healing time and frequent re-injury. Spend some time using the Nano X after tough workouts to increase flexibility and prevent future aches and pains from getting in the way of your ride.
