3T Aeronova LTD Handlebar 3T Aeronova LTD Handlebar
3T's Aeronova LTD Handlebar is just about the tippy-top peak of cycling cockpit technology that you can put your hands around today. For some perspective, consider that 3T enjoyed some pretty high-profile exposure at this year's Tour courtesy of Dennis' stint in yellow and Teklehaimanot's longer turn in polka dots, but not even riders of their caliber default to the LTD level. Instead, their machines display the telltale red accents of 3T's Team kit. Given its rarity -- even amongst the most celebrated cyclists on the planet -- the Aeronova LTD Handlebar is the HC version of cycling kit: lighter, stiffer, and all-around better even than what much of the peloton rides. As with the Team version ridden by Teklehaimanot during his endless miles off the front in this year's Tour, the Aeronova LTD's flats feature a NACA airfoil shape, which does exactly what you'd expect: cut through air and manage laminar flow across its surface to reduce drag and increase efficiency. The flattened, tapered shape also presents a broad, slightly tapered surface to your palms, netting just a bit more comfort while you're recovering in wheels between turns at the front. The drops also benefit from the involved tinkering of 3T's engineers with an ergonomic shape that tightens up the reach to the aggressive spot at the front while also improving the platform for sprinting or covering attacks.

3T Aeronova LTD Stealth Handlebar 3T Aeronova LTD Stealth Handlebar
3T's Aeronova LTD Stealth Handlebar flies under the radar in all the important categories: drag, weight, and looks. While the first two are important in a save-every-watt kind of way, we aren't ashamed to admit that we're equally as excited about the LTD Stealth's muted aesthetics. The silver accents on the normal Aeronova LTD may not be as flashy as the red Team issue kit ridden by the BMC Racing Team, but the Stealth model takes the murdered-out matte look to extreme levels. Looks aside for now, the Aeronova LTD Stealth's low weight and aerodynamic considerations are also pretty damn extreme. The aerodynamic, NACA airfoil shape of the bar's tops are the same as those on the Team version ridden by BMC, but the LTD's higher modulus, unidirectional carbon fiber means it comes in even lighter, weighing a full 15 claimed grams less than the kit used by the likes of Gilbert and van Garderen. If you're looking to save even more grams by leaving the tops un-taped, channels for internal cable routing keep your cockpit tidy. The drops describe the "ergo" shape of 3T's Compact design. Compared to the drops of 3T's more traditional Round curve, the Compact shape features a tighter reach and drop. This shape allows for the hoods to be positioned low and fast in order to accommodate the tendency for today's cyclists to spend most of their time there rather than in the drops. The Compact bars mean aggressive hoods don't come at the cost of the drops being out of reach, so you can still comfortably tuck on descents or long solo moves.

3T Aeronova Team Carbon Handlebar 3T Aeronova Team Carbon Handlebar
When cyclists talk about carbon fiber (and we seem to talk about it a lot), most of the conversation has to do with weight and compliance. One of carbon fiber's most significant advantages, and one that receives less attention than it should, is its ability to be shaped into near-infinite forms. 3T's Aeronova Team Carbon handlebar takes full advantage of this feature with a shape that's not only comfortable, but as aerodynamic as UCI rules allow. The Aeronova's tops are a true aerofoil teardrop cross section, which fully complements the wind-cheating shapes of your frame's tubes. After all, all that aerodynamic technology in your frame, helmet, and even clothes is wasted if the part of your bike that leads into the wind behaves like a parachute. The 127 millimeters of drop are nice and shallow, but the generous 104 millimeters of reach give you a huge platform to grab whether you're out of the saddle for a sprint or lightly holding the very ends during a long day alone in the wind. They also flare 6 to comfortably accommodate your wrists for those long grinds. If you opt to save weight by omitting bar tape on the flats, the internal cable routing keeps your cockpit tidy.

3T Aeronova Team Stealth Handlebar 3T Aeronova Team Stealth Handlebar
We're more than happy to let 3T's Aeronova Team Stealth Handlebar lead us into the wind. The Aeronova features the same sturdy carbon construction and flattened top as the Ergonova, only 3T has pushed it to the limits of UCI compliance. To complement the aerodynamic shape of your frame's tubes, the Aeronova has a true aerofoil teardrop cross-section. The Aeronova has 104 millimeters of reach that gives you a huge platform to grab during sprints and the 127 millimeters of drop are nice and shallow. To accommodate your wrists during long grinds, the drops flare 6 degrees. Finally, the internal cable routing will keep your cockpit orderly if you choose to save weight and skip the bar tape.

3T Aerotundo LTD Handlebar 3T Aerotundo LTD Handlebar
All handlebars are not created equal, and when you're building up your svelte carbon racing machine, bars are a crucial piece for both fit and (let's admit it) aesthetics. Fortunately, 3T has always had its clean lines and subtle colors dialed, and the Aerotundo LTD Handlebar only confirms these trends; however, it's also built with the aerodynamic pedigree to race. Sitting at the top end of 3T's collection of drop bars, the Aerotundo LTD boasts a high-modulus, unidirectional carbon fiber construction that adds just 185g to your overall setup while helping minimize road vibrations during long rides. Its efficient design is set up for internal cable routing for compatibility with electronic drivetrains, as well as to keep the lines of your frame as smooth and uninterrupted as possible while eliminating drag. In terms of shaping, 3T gave the Aerotundo LTD a longer reach than its more traditional drop bars, orienting cyclists further forward in an aggressive, stretched-out position that lends itself to racing more than casual rides. As you grip the drops, you'll have a moderate, square bend to hang onto, similar to 3T's Rotundo bars, which gives you freedom to move around and find your ideal hand position over the course of a ride or race. Wide, flat airfoil tops provide a place of respite for your hands during long climbs, allowing you to release the tension in your shoulders and back while they maintain the overall aerodynamics of the bars. The Aerotundo LTD is also compatible with 3T clip-ons, just in case you find yourself with a sudden mid-season desire to jump into a tri or two.

3T Aerotundo Team Handlebar 3T Aerotundo Team Handlebar
The teens are shaping up to be the decade of aerodynamics in the peloton: wheels, frames, shoes, helmets, and even bibs and jerseys are pitching in with wind-dodging designs. Little wonder, then, that handlebars -- the bike's leading edge -- should be early adapters, and 3T has (of course) been one of the first to ride the wave of aerodynamic designs with kit like the Aerotundo Team Handlebar. The Aerotundo starts with the stiffness, low weight, and vibration damping of carbon fiber, standard for race kit today, and then dives unflinching into the realm of innovative shaping. The Aerotundo's flats feature a NACA airfoil shape, which does exactly what you'd expect: cut through air and manage laminar flow as it detaches into the bar's wake, reducing drag and increasing efficiency. The flattened, tapered cross section also provides an unlooked for cure to one of the common ailments of traditionally rounded bars. It not only provides a wider surface across which to distribute palm pressure while cruising on the flats, but the teardrop profile also means that the Aerotundo's flat surface slopes toward the back, lining it up with your hands' angle of approach. Compared to the flattened but parallel-to-the-ground cross section of 3T's Ergo series, some of us find the Aero shape to be even more comfortable. Though the tops benefit immensely from the protean mutability of carbon fiber, the Aerotundo's drops are the classic, rounded, deep profile that we've been in love with ever since we first saw grainy footage of LeMond and la Blaireau finishing together on l'Alpe in our childhood. LeMond may have later revolutionized handlebars with his famous Tour-winning time trial, but his traditional drops in '86 made a far more indelible impression on our inchoate psyches. For all the draw of innovation, many of us love cycling for the associations of its history and material culture, and the deep, sweeping profile of the Aerotundo's 139mm drops and 113mm reach -- 12 and 9mm more, ..

3T Aerotundo Team Stealth Handlebar 3T Aerotundo Team Stealth Handlebar
Many of us are keen to take advantage of the flashy shaping -- and its inherent aerodynamic advantage -- of 3T's Aerotundo Stealth Handlebar. But. We aren't all necessarily feeling the fire engine inspired, swooping graphical flair of 3T's standard Team line. The Aerotundo Team Stealth Handlebar provides an alternative, murdered-out aesthetic that's especially appreciated if, like many of us, you prefer to leave the flattened aerodynamic top section unwrapped. Aesthetic differences aside, the matte-finish Aerotundo Team Stealth bar features the same stiff, low weight, vibration damping carbon construction as its less muted counterpart, and it also presents the same NACA airfoil shape to the wind across its flats. While the non-round shape certainly catches the eye, 3T and common sense both suggest that it avoids catching the wind more effectively than traditional round bars. The flattened, tapered shape also provides an unlooked for benefit, providing a wide, flat surface that distributes pressure across more of a rider's palm. The teardrop profile also means that the Aerotundo's flats slope toward the back, lining up with a cyclist's hands' angle of approach. Though the peculiarly shaped tops benefit immensely from the virtually unlimited lay-up shapes available to carbon fiber, the Aerotundo's drops are the classic, rounded profile of yesteryear. Like a wool jersey to the latest five material speedsuits or lugged steel to monocoque carbon, the Aerotundo's deep, rounded drops speak the poetry of cycling's past to the tech-heavy science of 3T's Ergo drop bars. Ergo shaping may appeal to some cyclists, but just as many others find it awkward and convoluted when compared to the beautiful simplicity of the proportional curve across the Aerotundo's 139mm depth and 113mm reach -- 12 and 9mm more, respectively, than 3T's ergo models.

3T Ergonova LTD Handlebar 3T Ergonova LTD Handlebar
A lot of cyclists still prefer shallow, non-anatomic bars. For many, however, the newer ergonomic bars provide a more comfortable cockpit. If you're a member of the new-school camp, then you should give the 3T Ergonova LTD Carbon Handlebar a good look. 3T has lavished the same loving attention to this bar as it has with the more traditionally shaped Rotundo. The LTD edition of the 3T product line represents the top of the heap. No expense is spared in their quest for the strongest, lightest and loveliest-looking handlebar. The lightest carbon composite materials are used, more sophisticated fabrication methods are employed, and the bolts are made from titanium instead of steel. This is a handlebar made to be lightweight, tough and stiff. Weighing just 180g, the Ergonova LTD Carbon Handlebar is one of the lightest carbon bars on the market. The top of the bars are egg or teardrop shaped which is intended to give your hands a flatter, more comfortable surface to hold onto. The designers have also seemed to anticipate some of our objections to "ergo" bars by keeping an eye on the needs of the smaller person. Not only do these bars come in an array of widths ranging from 38 to 44cm (c-c), but the reach is quite moderate at 77mm and the drop is a comfortable 123mm. Whereas a bar like the FSA Wing Pro has a 145mm drop making it very difficult for a rider with small hands to reach the brake levers while in the drops, the 123mm Ergonova drop is much closer to what one would find in a shallow, classic shape bar, giving greater ease of access to the levers and other controls. 3T uses a four-step production life cycle to make sure that its bars and stems are light, comfortable, aero, and durable with a capital D. Beginning with what it calls the CAE design visualization, the engineers can visualize and capture a virtual prototype. By using CATIA (Computer Aided Three-Dimensional Interactive Application) technology, they are able to be interactive with their design by crea...

3T Ergonova LTD Stealth Handlebar 3T Ergonova LTD Stealth Handlebar
As it does with its traditional drop bars, 3T bestowed careful attention to detail on its top-end Ergonova LTD Stealth Handlebar, shaping it in the increasingly popular ergonomic style and creating the option for a cockpit that works more naturally with your body's anatomy in the saddle. If you're looking to make a noticeable departure from shallow, race-focused bars, the Ergonova LTD Stealth is a versatile addition to any frame, accommodating a wide range of riders without adding unnecessary grams to your setup. 3T constructs the Ergonova LTD Stealth using high-modulus carbon fiber, and their top-of-the-line LTD distinction signifies that during production, the carbon fiber is laid up for the best possible balance of strength and weight. The result is an overall claimed weight of just 180g on a bar that feels far more substantial than its weight suggests. It's shaped with wide, flat tops for resting your wrists during long pulls on the front and a six-degree flare on the bar ends that extends the width by 16mm for a more relaxed shoulder position while slugging away in the drops. The bar's flared drops also allow the brake hoods to remain closer to one another, better accommodating riders with narrower shoulders. The actual drop and reach of the Ergonova stays with the versatile theme as well, at a moderate 77mm reach and 123mm drop to ensure smaller-framed riders are able to use the Ergonova comfortably and that won't leave you dreading spending long, winding descents in your drops. Please note that the Ergonova LTD Stealth can't be fitted with any type of clip-on aerobars.

3T Ergonova Pro Handlebar 3T Ergonova Pro Handlebar
Aluminum tubing has come a long way since the days when you could only get it in three shapes: round, round, or round. With the ability to shape aluminum tubing just about any way they want, bicycle component manufacturers can shape aluminum to do amazing things, like reducing fatigue after hours in the saddle. The 3T Ergonova Pro Alloy Handlebar does just that. By carefully shaping the tubing to fit the shape of your hand in its various positions on the handlebars, the Ergonova provides a more comfortable perch for your paws during every stage of your ride. The Pro level offers the ideal balance between top-flight performance and feet-on-ground price. And beyond the price issue, you get the supreme reliability of its AL7075 alloy construction, which keeps the weight reasonable at 265g (42mm width) while offering all the piece of mind that goes hand in hand with alloy bars. The Ergonova Pro shares the same shape and drop characteristics that you'll find in the Team and LTD versions. This means that the top of the bars are egg or tear-drop shaped, which is intended to give your hands a flatter, more comfortable surface to hold onto. Available in sizes 38cm-44cm (center-center) in 2cm increments. Compatible with 31. 8mm stems only.

3T Ergonova Team Handlebar 3T Ergonova Team Handlebar
The Ergonova Team Handlebar isn't the most luxury-priced piece of kit in 3T's line, but it may be the most common handlebar at the start line of most local races and criteriums. The reason for its widespread appeal is rooted in its carbon construction, which follows the same lines as the more expensive LTD model with a nominal claimed weight gain of just 18g. While those few grams are what separate the Ergonova from the LTD, the slightly flattened shape of its top section is what sets it apart from the industry's legion of carbon fiber bars. The flattened shape adds some aerodynamic oomph to your cockpit, but the real benefit is the larger surface area for resting your hands during climbs or while sitting in on long days in the peloton. Since the bar is relatively shallow for an "ergo" model, it accommodates an aggressively low stack while still letting you reach your levers from the drops, which are contoured to provide a secure platform for tucked, flat-out hammering.

3T Ergonova Team Stealth Handlebar 3T Ergonova Team Stealth Handlebar
Wanting to be comfortable when you're out on your annual Fourth of July loop with your ride crew doesn't have to come at the expense of being able to stay with the pack when the wind picks up. If classic or aero race bars are giving you numb hands or aching shoulders, plenty of other options exist. Top off your trusty pavement-seeker with 3T's Ergonova Team Stealth Handlebar and you'll notice the difference subtle changes in geometry can make over the long haul. The Ergonova's carbon fiber construction equips it to dampen fatiguing road vibrations for a more comfortable ride over time without adding unnecessary grams to your setup, in case you're counting. The tops' wide surface area and smooth transition into the hoods helps eliminate pressure points so you can rest comfortably before a hard effort, and the drops feature a six-degree flare to orient your shoulders in a more natural position. When you're standing to retain speed during the flat spot of a descent, the angled shape of the drops accommodates multiple hand positions, allowing you to move around to encourage circulation if you've been in the saddle for a while already.

3T Ergosum Pro Handlebar 3T Ergosum Pro Handlebar
3T's Ergosum Pro Handlebar returns with the same design tweaks that fit your body rather than forcing your body to adapt to it. Instead of a rounded curve, the drops describe two flattened lengths connected at rounded angles. These flat areas provide two definite platforms for you to anchor your efforts whether you're sprinting or taking pulls in the break. The cross section also contributes to a stable grip, with a slightly flattened shape that puts more surface area against the meat of your palms and better fills out your grip. If you're like many of us, then you may have mixed opinions about the cost-to-benefit ratio of carbon bars, and kit like the Ergosum Pro, with its low claimed weight of 245g (size 42cm) and a well-vetted history of durability under duress, definitely appeals to the cost-conscious racer. While we aren't worried about carbon bars breaking on the road, we do recognize their tendency to break the bank, and we also appreciate the ability to freely adjust our cockpit without a torque wrench.

3T Ergosum Team Stealth Handlebar 3T Ergosum Team Stealth Handlebar
The angled length of the 3T Ergosum Team Stealth Handlebar's drops may once have been a novelty, but they're no longer a rare sight in the peloton or the bike shop. The rise of the ergonomic drop began with the trend of ever more aggressive stack heights: as the bars got lower, the riders began spending more and more time on the hoods. It also created a huge gap between the rider and the forward, aggressive spot on the drops, so the ergonomic shape was developed to not only bring that sprinting platform back within reach, but to level it out for a more secure, definite grip in the chaos of the bunch finish. While ergonomic drops have become the new standard, many of us find that the latest trend of bloated, flattened-out tops on handlebars' just adds unnecessary weight and makes our cockpit accessory mounts incompatible. It also expands the flats -- formerly a place of comforting refuge for our hands on long climbs or after we've blown up -- to the point where they're just too damned big to be comfortable. The traditional, round shape of the Ergosum's tops leaves the power in your hands. You can run them with minimalist, barely there tape or pad them out with gel padding. Chances are good that your various peripherals are all built to clamp onto this shape, too, and the bars themselves are reinforced for use with clip-on aerobars. That reinforcement also means that, even for the biggest, strongest rider, the bars won't fail while you're torquing them in a sprint -- though we do recommend using a torque wrench while you're torquing on them in the shop.

Unfortunately, finding the right handlebars is largely a process of trial and error, but if you're a rider who likes to tackle a little bit of everything -- fast XC rides, all-mountain explorations, races, and some technical downhills -- the 3T Flat Team Handlebar might save you some time, money, and hassle. The Flat Team comes in two widths, 720mm and 740mm. As the name implies, both are flat for an aggressive, weight-forward pedaling position, but while the 720 has a slight three-degree backsweep, the 740 has a more dramatic nine-degree sweep that is more suited for riders who like to tackle technical descents as well as fast singletrack. Both bars can be cut down to taste -- to 660mm for the 720 and 680mm for the 740. They also afford 275mm and 285mm of respective width on either side of the stem bulge, so you'll have plenty of room to mount levers, knobs, gadgets, and doodads. Both carbon-fiber bars also weigh in at significantly less than 200g, too, so they're more than race ready.

3T Rotundo Pro Handlebar 3T Rotundo Pro Handlebar
Workhorse, bombproof -- few words feel as beaten to death across the industry when describing kit. The truth is that these words often translate to: not carbon. While applying the "not carbon" label to 3T's Rotundo Pro Handlebar is not technically fallacious, it is an act of gross underestimation. Given the similar stiffness and worry-free installation of the Rotundo Pro's 7075 alloy construction, the only real distinction between it and the more expensive (read: carbon) Team model is the weight. The Pro model still features the grip-it-anywhere comfort of a round cross section and smoothly transitioning drops, which describe one of the most classic silhouettes in cycling. In terms of dimensions, that silhouette manifests as a slightly shorter reach and significantly more pronounced drop than its ergonomic counterpart. The short reach allows the levers to be positioned a little closer for a more upright, comfortable posture while you're noodling on the hoods. Conversely, the longer drop means that when it's time to get serious in a finale or aerodynamic on a long solo move, you can hit a lower, more aggressive posture as the situation demands. But the weight. It's true. Compared to the Rotundo Pro, the Team does save around 50 claimed grams; however, we'd suggest that if you're that worried about saving weight, then you might just opt for the Pro and drop grams by cutting off the man bun, instead. That way, you'll not only save a couple hundred dollars and the aneurysm-inducing stress of precisely measuring Newton meters while building your cockpit, you'll also avoid future ridicule on par with what you currently get every time your group ride buddies see pics of you from grade school with a bowl cut or the fashion mullet and waxed mustache from that period in 2012 when you only wore paisley print skinsuits in the saddle.

Deity Components Dirty30 Handlebar Deity Components Dirty30 Handlebar
The day's been looming for a while now, and you can't avoid it. Dirty 30 is coming for you, ready or not. Instead of spending the day bemoaning the loss of your youth and good looks in a dim, damp bar you haven't actually enjoyed since you were 25, buy yourself a new treat for the one toy in your life that's keeping you young. Deity Components' Dirty30 Handlebar couldn't be more appropriate; like you, it used to only ride DH, but in its older age has proven itself a capable trail and all-mountain handlebar as well. Its treated aluminum construction and 25mm rise will keep you steering with lightweight precision as you learn to embrace the up as well as the down, and the 9-degree bend and 5-degree upsweep put your hands in a kind position for harsh bumps and landings that don't feel quite as smooth as they used to.

Easton EC90 SLX Handlebar Easton EC90 SLX Handlebar
Easton Cycling initially made its name by producing competition-grade alloys, and -- when carbon first became a viable option for performance enhancement -- the company demonstrated its innovative nous to become one of the leading pioneers in the synthetic field. The EC90 SLX Handlebar represents the culmination of a tradition of development innovative cycling products that, in reality, are just a hell of a lot of fun to ride. While Easton manufactures a few aerodynamic models, the EC90 SLX is myopically focused on reducing weight. And it does a smashing job of it. The EC90 SLX isn't the absolute lightest bar we've seen, but the bars that beat it on the scale typically sacrifice reach and drop. These dimensions have already taken a pretty significant hit from the ergo trend, and those of us on frames larger than 50cm will definitely appreciate the extra millimeters of real estate, even if it comes with a 15g penalty. Given its dimensions and weight, the EC90 SLX is one of the lightest models on the market, and the fact that it does so while dropping almost $100 off the typical price for bars in this class definitely helps make up the difference. Finally, the MCD shape and TaperWall technologies let Easton hit weight targets while still modelling recesses for cable routing.

Easton Haven 35 Riser Carbon Handlebar Easton Haven 35 Riser Carbon Handlebar
Handlebars aren't the sexiest part of your bike, but they're what keep you pointed in the right direction and make sure your weight stays in the right place, so it's important to give them some attention. Easton's Haven 35 Riser Carbon bars are made for just about anyone, with a versatile 750mm width and two rise options to suit more trail- or gravity-oriented riders. If you're more into the descents, check out the 40mm rise, which helps you keep your weight back on tricky descents. All-mountain riders should investigate the 20mm rise, which lets you stay slightly more forward, so you can put more power into the pedals. No matter the rise, the Haven uses Easton's TaperWall technology, which varies the thickness of the carbon fiber to maximize strength and minimize weight. The Haven is stress tested to obscene levels, too, so you can be sure they'll never fail on you, unless you weigh 2,000 pounds and ride like an absolute lunatic.

Easton Haven 35 Riser Handlebar Easton Haven 35 Riser Handlebar
Having solidified its reputation by making things especially, well, solid, Easton has happily embraced the 35mm handlebar standard that's making its move on the cycling world. Boasting greater strength and stiffness, the 35mm standard aligns perfectly with Easton's ethos, and where the two intersect, amazing products like Easton Haven 35 Riser Handlebar emerge. The formula for all of Easton's Haven products can be deduced by taking a look at its range of applications: light enough for cross-country, but strong enough for all-mountain, even making appearances on gravity machines here and there. These 35mm riser bars continue the tradition -- weighing a mere 270 grams for a 750mm-wide alloy bar, the 35 meets nearly any needs, while still being a relative bargain. Thank Easton's TaperWall technology for allowing the removal of excess material without sacrificing strength, and thank the company's product managers for releasing the Haven 35 Riser in some sweet colors. The Easton Haven 35 Riser Handlebar is made of Easton EA90 aluminum and comes with either a 20mm (Low) or 40mm (High) degree rise. The bar features a nine degree backsweep and five degree upsweep. It's 750mm wide and comes in Black, Blue, or Green anodized finishes.

ENVE Downhill Minnaar Bar v2 ENVE Downhill Minnaar Bar v2
ENVE created the original Downhill Minnr Bar in honor of Greg Minnr's third World Championships victory in 2013, which built on ENVE's DH bar with a wider 808mm stance and World Championship stripes. For v2, ENVE sought feedback from the bar's namesake and tweaked a few measurements for an even better ride feel. The rise bumps up 5mm to 28mm, reducing headset spacers and putting the bar axis closer to the frame. The back and up sweep have been adjusted from nine and five degrees in v1 to a slightly straighter 7. 5 and 4. 5 degrees for improvements in wrist positioning. Since it's based on ENVE's beloved DH bar, you already know that this is an incredibly strong handlebar. Just as important, the ride-feel has been finely tuned, meaning that it's sufficiently stiff, with just enough flex built in to effectively damp trail chatter, thereby reducing arm fatigue. It's light enough to earn a spot on your trail bike, yet durable enough to jump Pietermaritzburg's 60ft+ tabletops with complete confidence. It comes out of the box at 808mm wide, Greg's exact specs, but the cut lines at the end of the handlebar make it easy to trim it to a more modest size.

ENVE High Rise Downhill Mountain Handlebar ENVE High Rise Downhill Mountain Handlebar
DH bars are sitting higher and longer with no end in sight. Of course, with that extra width comes added leverage, so they have to be stronger than ever to make up for it. Fortunately, that doesn't mean you'll have to bolt an anchor to your stem to use one. The ENVE High Rise Downhill Mountain Handlebar's broad 810mm length is more than enough to satisfy the tallest DH pro, and it offers 46mm of rise to keep you upright and looking ahead on-course. Just because it could, ENVE whittled the bar's weight down to an XC-worthy claimed weight of just 264 grams using the carbon construction on which the Utah-based brand has built its reputation. If carbon's only redeeming quality were lightness, we could still understand why brands like ENVE chose to use it. As it is, carbon is also extremely efficient at absorbing hand-numbing trail vibrations, while being tough enough to allow you to take on big hits and stomach-turning drops with confidence that your hands will have something to hang onto when you come back to earth. The HDH's 810mm stance provides flexible comfort in the dirt, and the nine-degree rearward sweep positions your wrists in a relaxed, neutral position so that tired wrists never send you home early.

Warning: you may not actually want to wrap your ENVE Road Handlebar in any bar tape for a few days after you get it. Once you're ready, mount the Road Handlebar onto your bike and start enjoying it as it was meant to be used: as a hardworking, everyday addition to your cockpit. ENVE went the classic route when shaping the Road Handlebar, ensuring each size was designed to actually feel comfortable to hold for hours at a time on a range of training rides. Choose from short and shallow or traditional shapes based on what works for you, and know that the bars won't be out of style in a few years when a new, trendy shape emerges. The drops have a similar profile as ENVE's standard compact road bar, with the bar ends flaring out slightly wider than the top of the bar to offer a wide range of hand positions to get comfy and aero in the drops. Please note that the bars are measured center-to-center from the bar ends, which are wider than the tops. ENVE SES Aero TT Handlebar ENVE SES Aero TT Handlebar
Carbon fiber is an invariably versatile material. In fact, there are dozens of ways to design a similar laminate. But with carbon, the process is as critical as the outcome. The Enve engineers' design with the knowledge that a strong final product is the result of an innovative design process -- from the inception of the idea to the laying of the fibers, Enve's entire process is founded upon this principle. The Enve SES Aerobars follow suit and the resulting bar is not only beautiful to look at, it's fast. One of the more noticeable marks of Enve components is that they have no coating, paint, or finish. The bar you receive is essentially naked. If you've spent as much time staring at carbon components as we have, you'll notice tiny imperfections in carbon, and Enve chooses to not hide these. Carbon is, after all, a series of carbon atoms that have been bonded together in crystals to form very fine filaments. These filaments are about 5-10 microns in width. The fibers are aligned parallel to the long axis of the fiber and this gives it a very high strength to volume ratio. So essentially, your carbon aerobar is thousands of tiny threads wound together with a resin and molded into the final form. Its Smart Enve System (SES), is the brainchild of aero-engineering Simon Smart and Enve working together to create the lightest, strongest carbon components on the market.Enve's philosophy also means designing products that are available and usable by any rider, no matter what their preferred position while in aerobars. The SES Aero Bar, features flexibility to accommodate extremely low and aggressive positions and well as the higher, wider arm positions that seem to be favored by professional time trial specialists and as well as track pursuit specialists. It features virtually unlimited adjustability of elbow pads and aero extensions on a 40cm base bar. The bar includes 5, 10, and 20mm spacers, an adjustable pad with from 125mm to 200mm, and a stack height that ...

The FSA Energy Road New Ergo Handlebar is a rock-solid but lightweight choice for the road rider or cyclocross rider looking to upgrade to a more ergonomic bar. Its sharp style and comfortable shape will agree with almost any bike, and any athlete. The New Ergo Energy handlebar is made from double-butted, tapered, shot-peened, and anodized aluminum. The center clamping section is purposely wide, at 120mm, so that you'll be able to clamp on accessories, like aero bars. FSA championed the concept of the wing-style handlebar years ago, and it finds its way here. They provided riders with the first-ever alternative to the traditional round shape of bar tops. The flattened cross section nicely molded to the shape of loose fists -- exactly what many of us have when we climb with our hands on the tops. With a 150mm drop and 80mm reach with round drops, the New Ergo shape is a bit deeper than the Compact Energy Handlebar shape, allowing you to get lower and more aggressive, which is something racers will especially appreciate. FSA Gossamer Wing Compact FSA Gossamer Wing Compact
FSA's Gossamer Wing Compact handlebar may be the most versatile offering in the manufacturer's extensive catalog of drop bars, combining lightweight with efficiency and a relatively low price point. It's made of double-butted 6066 alloy that's been shot-peened, which is a process that shows up most often in the aerospace industry. Shot-peening involves firing ceramic pellets at the metal in order to increase corrosion and fatigue resistance by up to 1,000 times. This means that it's strong enough to safeguard your life on a transatlantic flight or your aspirations on a course as punishing as the stones of Roubaix, where the alloy Gossamer line has enjoyed the top step of the podium. The moderate 125 millimeter drop and 80 millimeter reach put these handlebars in the realm of short and shallow. The drops are also angled by four degrees in order to mimic the natural position of your wrists when you're in them. It's a subtle difference from parallel drops, but one that becomes apparent the longer that your ride goes on. The clamping point balloons up to 31. 8 millimeters to maximize stiffness at the point of power transfer while keeping the overall weight down.

FSA SL-K Road Compact Handlebar FSA SL-K Road Compact Handlebar
In the rush to get the best technology to the most likely race-bike buyers, some manufacturers have a tendency to forget that people, like bicycles, come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Fortunately, the folks at FSA haven't forgotten. The FSA SL-K Road Compact handlebar combines race-ready unidirectional carbon fiber construction, a forgiving, shallow design, and four different sizes (including extra-narrow) to bring pro-level performance to all of us.FSA's SL-K Compact Handlebar is made from a blend of unidirectional carbon fiber and Kevlar. Formed in a continuous, one-piece construction, the reinforced carbon design provides a heightened rigidity for explosive sprints and predictable handling. Additionally, the carbon weave dampens road vibration while the Kevlar offers durable strength that reduces material fatigue. The engineered result is simple -- the S-LK Carbon handlebar will remain stiffer, longer. These attributes have been further accentuated by the implementation of a double-width single cable groove along the bar. The SL-K's thicker construction also greatly increases its resistance to fatigue. The S-LK Compact Carbon features reinforced and textured clamping areas for the attachment of the levers and stem. This treatment prevents slippage, and helps to maintain the life of the bars. FSA has also widened the center section to 120mm in order to allow the addition of clip-on aero extensions or any combination of accessories. To achieve an agreeable shape, fit for long days in the drops or on the hoods, FSA has designed the S-LK Compact with a moderate 125mm drop, 80mm reach, and 2 degree outward bend. And to ensure a consistent fit and ride quality for every rider, these dimensions vary in scale by each of the three widths available.

Profile Design 1/ThirtyFive Road Handlebar Profile Design 1/ThirtyFive Road Handlebar
Ideally, the drops of a handlebar should be parallel with the ground. According to Profile Design, the reason why many of us break that sacred covenant is that, as frame geometries and handlebar shapes have evolved, those of us who prefer a level transition from the flats to the hoods have found ourselves victim to ever rising bars -- often at the expense of ideal positioning in the drops. Profile Design's 1/ThirtyFive Road Handlebar aims to address this, bringing the hoods in line with the tops and the drops in line with the ground. The 1/ThirtyFives come out level at tops and drops because of Profile Design's Drop Reach Variant (Drive) Metric. Drive involves triangulating the drop angle by using the flats and reach, establishing a shape that manages to hit the mark at both ends without sacrificing the ideal angle to ride forward in the drops. The shape maintains comfortable stability whether you're hanging lazily onto the ends during a long day in the wind, sitting up on the hoods while navigating through the bunch, or torqueing on that sweet spot in the drops to maximize power and control while hammering. The bar's name, 1/ThirtyFive, designates its Drive of 135mm. This size combines an 80mm reach with a 148mm drop, dimensions that we're used to seeing either on heavily shaped ergo bars (the shallow reach) or huge, sweeping rounded bars (the generous drop). The 1/ThirtyFive's Drive Metric is Profile's largest, meant for riders with wider palms to ensure that the forward stretch of the drops is long enough to provide a firm, secure platform for intense efforts when control is of the utmost importance.

Rotating the bars up can level the slope from flats to hoods, but it does often come at the expense of steep drops that aren't as stable as they would be if the bars were rotated forward. The short reach and generous drop of the 1/Twenty Road Handlebar address this by using Profile Design's Drop Reach Variable (Drive) Metric in order to keep the hood slope level, the bar ends parallel to the ground, and the sweet spot in the drops accessible, stable, and -- most importantly -- powerful. The 1/Twenty of the bar's title designates its Drive Variable of 120mm. This size entails a 75mm reach with a 137mm drop, dimensions that we're used to seeing either on heavily shaped ergo bars (the shallow reach) or huge, sweeping rounded bars (the generous drop). The 1/Twenty's Drive Metric is Profile's medium option, meant for riders with Goldilocks palms (not too big; not too small) to ensure that the forward position of the drops provides a secure platform during sprints that's ideally sized for the majority of cyclists.

Profile Design 1/ZeroFive Road Handlebar Profile Design 1/ZeroFive Road Handlebar
The reach and drop of Profile Design's 1/ZeroFive Road Handlebar describe a study in contrasts. The 70mm reach is reminiscent of shallow, compact ergo bars, while the 122mm drop reminds us of a more standardly proportioned ergo model. The combination of the two, when combined with Profile's Drop Reach Variable (Drive) Metric shaping, effectively nets the best of both worlds: a flat transition from flats to hoods that doesn't require you to tilt your bars up to the point where the drops are unusable. While the two bars in Profile's line with large Drive Metrics (120 and 135mm) have more pronounced variations in drop and reach, the 1/ZeroFive's relatively modest Drop Metric of 105mm still results in a profile that outdoes the usual ergonomically shaped compact bars with comfortable stability whether you're hanging lazily onto the ends during a long day in the wind, sitting up on the hoods while navigating through the bunch, or torquing on that sweet spot in the drops to maximize power and control while hammering.

Profile Design Aeria T2 AL Aerobar Profile Design Aeria T2 AL Aerobar
Profile Design introduced an aluminum version of its Aeria aerobars with the Aeria T2 Alloy, and they look and perform much like their lighter counterparts, with a notably lower price. While you won't get any of the road-dampening, weight-saving benefits of carbon, you'll get almost all of the other features of the Aeria T2 carbon with the aluminum version. Time-trialists now have another UCI-approved, 3:1 ratio option to choose from that offers effective aerodynamic positioning with plenty of maneuverability. The Aeria Alloy's basebar, extensions, and brackets are all made with 6061-T6 hydroformed aluminum, with zero drop throughout. The extensions are narrower than other similar offerings from Profile Design, yet have a shorter reach to keep them easy to control. Profile Design uses a patent-pending integrated bracket to secure the extensions while joining the brackets and wing together for a sleek design that hopes to create more longevity for bolts that aren't left exposed to the elements. Like the carbon version, the Aeria T2 aerobars are fully compatible with Di2 integration so you'll have fewer distractions while you're racing and less drag in the wind. The performance-oriented design of the T2 keeps these aerobars aggressive, but Profile Design includes aluminum S-Bend extensions with an adjustment range of 200-300mm so that you still have options for low hand placement. If you end up wanting to adapt the shape of the bars later, the extensions can be swapped out for any of Profile Design's other carbon or aluminum options. As with most of Profile Design's aerobar options, customization is encouraged throughout the Aeria, with included risers that can give you the highest stack of any Profile Design model, taking the bars from 55mm to 153mm to add comfort when you need it. The cushioned armrests offer 30mm of adjustment as well, and altogether, these aerobars will add about 850g to your frame.

Profile Design Aluminum Aerobar Extension Profile Design Aluminum Aerobar Extension
Profile Design set out to make a collection of clip-on Aluminum Aerobar Extensions that would give every time trial rider or triathlete the option to be comfortable in the aerobars. Choose the one that most closely matches what you want, then clip on and go. These aerobars are designed to be easily attached to a road bike, bringing you closer to triathlon or time trial bike geometry, but your bike will probably require some fit adjustments before you're ready to go.The biggest difference between each model comes down to shape. If you're worried about aerobars that make your hands and wrists go numb, the T1+ was created to be a more neutral option. Their shape gives you room to move your hands around to get the right fit, and while still aerodynamic, they aren't as aggressive as flatter styles. If you're concerned with how you might feel at the end of your race, the T3+ offers the most neutral wrist position of the series and gives you a little more room to adjust your hands throughout your ride.By contrast, if you care less about comfort over the long haul and more about getting in an aerodynamic position, consider the T2+ or the T5+. Your hands will sit low in the T2+, but they were designed with a 30mm rise so that you're not completely stretched out. This year, Profile Design added the T5+ to its lineup to blend the aerodynamic benefits of straight aerobars with a slight ski-bend angle. Expect bars that are the most aerodynamic in the series with just a slight 15mm rise. A shorter extension length sets the T4+ apart from its counterparts, which could be beneficial if you're hoping to not have to make major fit adjustments to your road bike for race day. The extension shape falls in between the flatter T2+ and the more neutral T1+ and T3+ models, so you end up with something in the middle. Each of Profile Design's extension bars fit on handlebars with a diameter of either 26. 0mm or 31. 8mm.

Profile Design Ozero TT Aluminum Basebar Profile Design Ozero TT Aluminum Basebar
While the double negative implied by its name may be a bit of an overstatement, the Profile Design Ozero TT Aluminum Basebar's hydroformed silhouette gives it an understated aerodynamic footprint compared to previous iterations while still maintaining UCI legality. The signature, tapered tops round off at the center for clip-on bars and the brake extensions for confident, secure grip while navigating corners or sweeping onto the final approach to the line. Internal cable routing keeps housing tidy for the triathlete/time trial specialist who wants to save weight and drag by omitting tape from the Ozero's flats. The basebar is also Di2 compatible, which -- given the benefits for aerobar setups that Shimano's electronic group provides -- is pretty much a requirement for basebars.

Profile Design Prosvet Carbon Basebar Profile Design Prosvet Carbon Basebar
Plenty of innovation happens inside and outside of UCI regulations, so deciding which side is best to be on comes down to what type of racing you'll be doing. With Profile Design's Prosvet Carbon Basebar, you won't be UCI-legal, but for plenty of triathlons, that's not a requirement. These bars strive to provide riders with an option that's aggressively aerodynamic while still controllable. The Prosvet looks similar to Profile Design's Svet Zero basebars, but in exceeding the 3:1 ratio, it has a few key differences. Made from multi-directional carbon fiber to absorb road vibration and provide a stiff racing platform, the Prosvet has a more aggressive -20mm drop compared to the Svet Zero, orienting you farther forward, with brake extensions that include upturned rather than straight ends to allow for a wider variety of hand positions. The slim wings on the tops of the Prosvet are deeper than the similarly-shaped Svet Zero's, which helps create less drag but also provides stability and comfort while you're climbing a hill or riding back into transition -- a nice practical extra that shows Profile Design didn't focus on speed at the expense of maneuverability with this model. The Prosvet is compatible with a wide variety of extensions, and fits on 31. 8mm diameter handlebars. To keep your racing bike looking clean, the bars come pre-slotted for use with Di2 components, and will only add about 200-220g to your frame depending on which width you choose.

Profile Design Svet R Carbon Basebar Profile Design Svet R Carbon Basebar
Given their solitary, no-draft nature, we wouldn't disagree if someone claimed that properly dialed bike fit is more important for triathlons and time trials than any other cycling discipline. With the exception of the occasional (prolonged) pass, a triathlete or TT specialist is in the wind 100% of the time, so the customizable fit of kit like Profile Design's Svet R Carbon Basebar is the only respite from the dragging grip of the wind. The Svet R's Two-Way Fit design is, like most features with such involved names, actually a simple mechanic to help bring stack height into the sweet spot for any cyclist's ideal aerodynamic position. The bar can be installed with the wings angle down, slamming the stack with a 20mm drop to the brake extensions that maintains a tucked position while navigating tricky corners on the brake levers. Alternatively, the Svet R can be flipped to provide 20mm of stack for more upright stability when you're not stretched out on the aerobars. Either way, the aerobars themselves clip in at the same spot, level with your stem clamp. The brake extensions themselves are flat, and the lack of an additional rise helps to maintain an aggressive posture even while you're not on the aerobars. Cable routing is internal, eliminating telltale ridges under bar tape that can throw off your grip while catching wind. The basebar's carbon fiber construction orients the fibers to accommodate the load bearing requirements for different areas, keeping material to a minimum while maintaining a structural integrity that, with proper torque on the stem mounting hardware, will stand up to virtually any in-saddle abuse you can pour onto it -- all while weighing around a claimed 90g less than the top competing alloy models.

Profile Design Svet Zero Carbon Basebar Profile Design Svet Zero Carbon Basebar
Developing a set of base bars that offer the least possible amount of wind resistance while maintaining a UCI-legal 3:1 ratio is a goal that requires a good deal of fine-tuning. Profile Design took its time a few years ago with the Svet Zero Carbon Basebar, and has since not felt compelled to change its sleek, customizable design that's well suited for use in UCI-sanctioned races and triathlons. Multi-directional carbon fiber construction keeps the weight of these base bars low, at between 200g and 210g, depending on which size you end up with. It also serves to help absorb road vibrations while providing plenty of stiffness for racing. By designing the Svet Zero with a true zero drop, Profile Design ensures you'll stay in a low, aerodynamic position even while riding out of the saddle, an objective that's helped further by the overall forward orientation of the bars. The flat, wing-shaped tops of the bars were included to slice through wind, but also provide a comfortable place to rest your palms when you're recovering or climbing. Profile Design paid attention to comfort when creating the straight brake extensions as well, delivering another relatively natural position to ride in -- a nice option when you're looking at investing in aggressive aerobars. If you're worried about what cables would do to a clean-looking set of base bars like these, set your mind at ease with the knowledge that they come pre-slotted and ready to be used with Di2 components. The Svet Zero is compatible with 31. 8mm handlebars, and it works with a variety of extension options.

Profile Design T1+ Clip-On TT Bars Profile Design T1+ Clip-On TT Bars
When you need no-nonsense extensions that simply work, the Profile Design T1+ Clip-On Time Trial Bars are the answer. This is a lighter, simpler, easier-to-adjust version of Profile's old Stryke clip-on setup, which itself was lighter, simpler, and more adjustable than its predecessors. Their predecessors were also the leaders of their respective zeitgeists, which is understandable considering that Profile got in on the ground floor of clip-on aero bars in the late 1980s. In fact, it was the first company that had adjustable-length extensions. Now, for the T1+, the bars are 6061 aluminum tubes that are bent like a ski into a graduated 'L-shape' that's easy on your wrists. And since the extensions are round in shape, they 're able to be rotated in the clamp, as well as fore and aft, making it easy to find a spot that's both fast and comfortable. Depending on how you angle the ski bend and your overall body position, you're able to almost hide behind your hands -- something that LeMond did to great effect when he brought aerobars to the world by winning the 1989 Tour on the final stage. The handlebar clamps, made from forged 6061 aluminum, tighten to the bars separately from the extensions. These clamps are separate from the armrests, so you're able to first determine the width that you're comfortable riding with. Afterwards, you set the length of the extensions, and then adjust the armrests to your desired position. And since the armrest clamp is round and clamps onto a round tube, you're able to adjust the cant of the armrests. Essentially, this provides some height adjustment, while also allowing you the opportunity to have the armrests tilted either inward or outward. For those who prefer a narrow position, having the armrests tilted upward toward the stem provides a secure feeling. And for those who like a wider position, we recommend lowering the armrests and tilting them outward. This way, it's easier to move in and out of the armrests. The armrest clamps,...

Profile Design T2 Wing Base Bar Profile Design T2 Wing Base Bar
With the option of buying your base bar and extensions as a kit-of-parts, riders of all levels and budgets are now able to fully customize their triathlon or time trial bike. The Profile Designs T2 Wing Base Bar gives you the same wind-cheating shape as a carbon bar, only in a more economical aluminum version. This 6061 aluminum wing profile was designed to mimic the wing shape of the carbon Viper Wing base bar. It's a flat bar, meaning that there's zero drop from the top to the bullhorns. In addition, the bar between the center clamp area and the bullhorns has been flattened (in line with the UCI 3:1 ratio) minimizing the profile of the bar in the wind. In terms of comfort, the T2 features a shape that's easy to rest your hands on between efforts. Additionally, the reach to the bullhorns is 157mm. This allows you to position your hands on the bullhorns, much as you would on brake hoods, for either climbing or out-of-the-saddle riding. The ends of the horns were designed for plug-style bar-end brake levers. There are also cut-outs in the side, so you're able to thread cables through the bar and then out the back. Likewise, there are also cut-outs for older clamp-style brake levers where you have to run the cable externally. The Profile Design T2 Wing Base Bar is compatible with a 31. 8mm stem. It's available in a 40, 42, and 44cm width (measured center-to-center) and in the color Black. Please note that this bar weighs in around 250 to 265 grams depending your selected width.

Profile Design T2+ Cobra Carbon Clip-On TT Bar Profile Design T2+ Cobra Carbon Clip-On TT Bar
Profile Design is a veritable one-stop shop for customizing your time trial or triathlon position. In addition to several base bars, they also have over a half dozen extensions to choose from. The T2+ Carbon Clip-On TT Bars are one of the more popular extension shapes for anyone who needs to maximum hand positions and comfort. Rather than a gradual upward ski-bend curve, the T2+ extensions jog downward, running almost parallel to the ground. This allows your wrists to align with your forearms, while also permitting your hands to comfortably wrap around the underside of the bars. This bend has been popularized by professional cyclists and triathletes, as it's more aggressive than the traditional ski-bend design -- the position creates a low frontal profile. The drop in the bars allows your hands to wrap around them for extra stability during hard intervals. The T2+ extensions were constructed from a multi-directional, multi-layered carbon fiber that places an emphasis on strength and durability rather than stiffness and low-weight. Additionally, the bars feature internal drilling if you choose to run bar-end shifters. Profile Design mated the T2+ extension with its J4 bracket. With this bracket, the armrests are set back 20mm from the center of the base bar, and they're reversible for a more forward armrest position. It's also compatible with aftermarket risers in order to elevate the armrest while maintaining a desired wrist angle. Even better, it's not difficult to adjust. In fact, it's all done with a single bolt. The T2+ bars are finished with Profile's F-35, EVA molded armrests. These are adjustable for width and reach ,which allows you to position them exactly where you need them. The Profile Design T2+ Carbon Clip-On TT Bars fit both 31. 8mm and 26. 0mm base bars (with the included shim). Additionally, they're available in one size and in the color Black.

If you're a draft-legal triathlete who's confident enough in your swim skills that you foresee the need for aerobars during long spells off the front alone, then Profile Design's T2+ DL Aluminum Clip-on Aerobars are your ticket to ITU-approved aerodynamics. Since the extension is adjustable independently of the basebar bracket, you can dial the length to keep the bar ends from extending beyond your brake levers and maintain draft legality. That adjustability also makes the T2+ DL bars a graceful solution for any roadie dabbling in the triathlon scene or looking for an aerodynamic edge in the time trial of a weekend stage race. Race Face Aeffect 35 10mm Rise Handlebar Race Face Aeffect 35 10mm Rise Handlebar
Oversized handlebars may not be the sleekest, lightest option for XC racing, but their durability and overall ruggedness delivers a peace of mind during trail rides that their sleeker, finer carbon counterparts can't. Race Face's Aeffect 35 10mm Rise Handlebar makes a capable addition to your hardtail or your five-inch trail bike, and best of all, its affordable price tag means you won't be forced to empty your entire upgrade budget for the season to get a dependable handlebar.Race Face chose to use cold-drawn, seamless 2014 aluminum to construct the Aeffect 35, further reinforcing the already robust bar with a round of shot peening for extra durability. Additionally, its titular 35mm clamp section essentially eliminates the risk of bar failure due to over-clamping or over-torquing, giving you one less thing to worry about when making adjustments. Unlike its featherweight carbon counterparts, the Aeffect 35 receives triple butting in high stress areas to provide further reinforcement, with Race Face balancing the additional material by thinning the tube walls wherever possible to keep the claimed weight at a reasonable 335g.

Oh, it's coming. The 35mm bar clamp diameter. Just as 31. 8mm overtook the 25. 4mm standard not too many years ago, the engineers got all engineer-y again and brought out something better. It means stronger, lighter bars. The Race Face Atlas 35 10mm riser bar isn't just a fat-clamp alloy bar made by the Canadian company that laughs at gravity. It's a harbinger of the next wave in cockpit evolution. So how does a bigger bar clamp diameter make a bar both stiffer and lighter' The increased diameter of the bar at the clamp makes it inherently stronger and more resistant to deformation (twisting and bending). The strength gained by increasing the bar's diameter is disproportionately generous to the small amount of additional material used to do so, however, so now the engineers can go back and shave bar material to save more weight without compromising durability -- which, in the case of the geniuses at Race Face, is vastly more durability than most riders will ever need. The result is a super wide bar that manages outrageous strength, yet weighs hardly more, if more at all, than a comparable 31. 8mm bar. The Race Face Atlas 35 10mm riser bar comes in Black and is 800mm wide with a 35mm bar clamp area, so it is only compatible with 35mm-clamp bicycle stems. The bar features an 8-degree backsweep, and a 5-degree upsweep.

Race Face Next 1/4in Rise Wide Handlebar Race Face Next 1/4in Rise Wide Handlebar
With a claimed weight of just 175g and the long, low-rise profile favored in enduro circles, the Race Face Next 1/4in Rise Wide Handlebar is ideally suited for rocking hard whether you're cleaning steep grades or shredding lines through rock gardens and across trail furniture. In fact, Race Face is so confident in its own unidirectional carbon fiber expertise that it claims these featherweight bars are leaden enough to be suitable for DH runs. Given the amount of reinforcement poured onto the stem-clamp area -- which is where most bars yield to stress and square hits -- we're not prepared to second-guess that assertion. Failure never even crosses our minds on the trail, though, as the bar's length and stiffness help keep us glued to lines and focused purely on the trail.

Race Face Next 3/4in Riser Handlebar Race Face Next 3/4in Riser Handlebar
Weighing in at sub-180 grams, the Next 3/4in Riser uses a unidirectional carbon fiber weave. By placing the fibers parallel to each other and using resin epoxy to bond them together, they become stronger than woven carbon fiber. In addition, Race Face's bonding process removes any excess resin and air bubbles by compacting the carbon fibers under extreme pressure. This ensures that the bars have no spots that will fatigue. To further improve your confidence, the clamp zones have been additionally reinforced. So, go out and white knuckle your next downhill with full confidence and none of the weight of alloy.

Race Face Next Riser 35mm Handlebar Race Face Next Riser 35mm Handlebar
Race Face's Next Riser 35mm Handlebar is designed with big mountains in mind. Its 760mm width hits that sweet spot between too narrow and awkwardly wide, making it the bar of choice for anyone threading aspens and chasing the next ridgeline. Race Face opted for a 35mm clamp diameter on the Next, which allowed them to make the walls a bit thinner, which means less material, which means less weight. It all adds up to a featherweight 180 grams, and it's available in either a 10 or 20mm rise.

Race Face SIXC 35 10mm Rise Handlebar Race Face SIXC 35 10mm Rise Handlebar
With a relatively small amount of rise, Race Face's SIXC 10mm Rise Handlebar is made to help you conquer hills in less time than it takes you to descend them. At 35mm, it's also fully embracing the wider-is-stronger trend, so you can ride it as hard as you can without worrying about stress, bending, or breaking. By making it wider, Race Face was actually able to decrease the thickness of the carbon fiber used, so the bar is proportionally stronger and lighter than narrower bars made of the same material. The 10mm rise is all about XC riding, but it's plenty capable of handling descents and all-mountain rides, so go ahead and set it up on any non-DH bike in your quiver.

Race Face SIXC 35 20mm Rise Bar Race Face SIXC 35 20mm Rise Bar
35mm handlebars are a bona fide thing these days, and they're not just for the durability-oriented market anymore. Race Face's SIXC 35 2mm Rise Handlebar is made for ripping, with a full unidirectional carbon-fiber construction that's light, stiff, and seriously durable, thanks to the increased diameter. By boosting it to 35mm, Race Face increased the stiffness of the SIXC, which means its engineers can go back and reduce the amount of material used, which actually makes the bars proportionally lighter and stronger than traditional 31. 8mm options. With 20mm of rise, the SIXC is perfectly situated for XC, AM, and even light DH riding, and will work with whatever 35mm stem clamp you're rocking.

Race Face is relentlessly focused on quality, and the SIXC 35 35mm Rise Handlebar has the highest rise available for aggressive downhill riders. Using unidirectional carbon fiber, Race Face was able to meet its high standards for durability without weighing you down. A larger bar and stem clamp area diameter made the handlebar as strong as it is wide. This allowed engineers to shave off even more weight without weakening the SIXC, making it lighter and stronger than the 31. 8mm version.

Race Face SIXC DH Handlebar Race Face SIXC DH Handlebar
The Race Face SIXC DH Handlebar, with its unmatched durability and crazy low weight, defies riding categories. Race Face starts with its "leading edge" carbon composite material and shapes it into a 785mm-wide bar with 8 degrees of backsweep and 4 of upsweep. The result is bombproof construction and a comfortable configuration. Race Face reinforced the grip areas of the bar to withstand the clamping force of lock-on grips--a no-no with most carbon bars. And while it may not be as light as the company's vaporous Next series of components, this 785mm bar tips the scales at a mere 220g. The Race Face SIXC DH handlebar has a 31. 8mm clamping area and 19mm rise. The bars can be safely trimmed down to 710mm wide.

Syncros AM1.0 Carbon 10 Rise 35mm Handlebar Syncros AM1.0 Carbon 10 Rise 35mm Handlebar
The Syncros AM1. 0 Carbon 10 Rise 35mm Handlebar packs a big punch of strength and control out on the trail with a beefy clamp diameter and wide stance built with all-mountain riders in mind. This bar lets riders attack a wide range of terrain with confident handling. The AM1. 0 Carbon is constructed out of high-modulus carbon fiber for an exceptionally light, stiff, and responsive feel that translates to more control across terrain. Syncros utilizes a strategic carbon lay-up to absorb energy-sucking vibrations and smooth out the bumps on the trail. Additionally, the large 35mm clamping area prevents over-stressed hot spots, increases stiffness, and reduces weight compared to smaller diameter bars for race-worthy durability that will steer you through the miles. Syncros RR1.0 Carbon Aero Bar/Stem 400 Syncros RR1.0 Carbon Aero Bar/Stem 400
Syncros shows an appreciation for clean lines and sleek shapes within its enviable RR1. 0 line. Molded with high-modulus carbon fiber, the RR1. 0 Carbon Aero Bar/Stem 400 comes with a vibration-dampening disposition and stiff, responsive steering and handling. Though it's meant for racing, the bar's flat tops also make for a larger platform for resting palms while sitting up on training rides. This incurs a slight weight gain compared to the RR1. 0's more traditionally shaped sibling, but we think the added comfort on long climbs is worth it. The RR1. 0 line's drops adopt a largely traditional round shape, but Syncros does add a slight ergo bend to combat fatigue and allow for a solid grip on the bars when tucking into an aerodynamic position, without taking away from the RR1. 0's clean aesthetic. The 80mm reach and 130mm drop push this bar to the shorter, shallower end of the traditional spectrum without taking away from its versatility.

Syncros RR1.0 Carbon SL Handlebar Syncros RR1.0 Carbon SL Handlebar
If you're looking to replace your stock bars with lighter, stiffer carbon drop bars for race season, don't overthink your decision. It's hard to beat smooth lines and clean black matte carbon at the helm of your race machine, and Syncros wisely doesn't try to with the RR1. 0 Carbon SL Handlebar. The lighter version of Syncros' classic RR1. 0, the RR1. 0 SL comes molded from a higher modulus carbon fiber, which allows Syncros create a lighter, thinner bar without a sacrifice in strength and rigidity on the roads. While the RR1. 0 SL's lower weight suits it well to being used as a race bar, Syncros' carefully engineered layup absorbs road vibrations to take away the stiff, harsh feel that plagues some carbon bars. Use it for your everyday training rides without worrying you'll end your ride with numb hands and sore shoulders after feeling every bump and divet in the road. Syncros further addresses comfort by using a drop shape we'd almost go so far as to call a hybrid of ergo and traditional, with a reach of 80mm and a drop of 130mm. These measurements situate the bar towards the shorter, shallower side of traditional. The shape wards off fatigue during longer races or training rides, blending comfort with clean, minimal aesthetics equally at home in a road race or weekend group ride.

Syntace Vector Carbon High20 Syntace Vector Carbon High20
Wider is better seems to be a mantra for the mountain world as of late. And while we wouldn't recommend running 780mm bars through a tight aspen forest, for downhill runs and wide open trails, you'll reap the benefits of better leverage and more control. Syntace has constructed a super-wide carbon bar that rivals the lightest bars in the industry and defies them in terms of strength and durability. Syntace has been producing high-end carbon handlebars in its German production facilities for years. True to the German-American architect Mies van der Rohe, Syntace, too, believes that form follows function. To this end, the carbon fibers used and the method in which the weave is laid follow the stress points and critical cross sections of the bars. The Vector Carbon High20 is designed for the riders who are looking for a wide, low-rise bar in order to get more control out of their steeds -- without sacrificing strength. Additionally, an in-molded titanium lattice at the stem clamp area protects the handlebar from crushing and slips of the bar. The bar is so strong it has been VR-3 approved. This is the world's toughest test for handlebars and stems. Known as the "Red Monster," this machine is able to test bars up to 800mm wide with no rider weight or usage restrictions. This allows Syntace to test the bars to total failure. Therefore, there is no weight restriction placed on the bars. You'll notice more control, especially on downhills, with the Vector bars. The Vector 20s feature, as the names implies, a 20mm rise that places it squarely between the Vector 35 and the shallower Vector 10. The Syntace Vector Carbon High20 Bars are 780mm wide. They weigh either 244 grams for the 8-degree or 251 grams for the 12-degree sweep options.

Thomson Carbon Road Handlebar Thomson Carbon Road Handlebar
As one of the first Thomson products to diverge from their aerospace-grade aluminum mainstay, the Thomson Carbon Road Handlebar represents the company's foray into masterful carbon road bars. Retaining the renowned quality that makes Thomson famous, these carbon bars are manufactured by Toray, which is the same company that produces carbon fiber for aerospace giants such as Boeing and Airbus. To be sure these bars stand up to Thomson's stringent quality-control standards, they're certified to rigorous EN and tested to DIN+ standards. Created from a Nano Epoxy Resin for the utmost in impact-resistance, these bars feature a one piece lay-up. In comparison, the competition often uses three pieces co-molded and glued together to cut costs. Adding extra strength, 1. 5K woven impact ends prevent structural damage to the uni-directional carbon fibers in the event of a heavy impact. The bars themselves feature a mild wing shape along the topside, with a clamping area that's suitable for aero bars, yet small enough as to not restrict hand movement when you're riding along the bar's topside. Furthermore, this subtle wing shape allows for bar angle adjustment without "locking out" your wrists. Additionally, the shaping along the bottom side of the wing facilitates the housing to be taped out of the way, without resorting to the use of narrow housing channels or internal routing, both of which shorten bar life over time. The drop is proportional to the widths, being 137-millimeters for the 40-centimeter width, 140-millimeters for the 42 and 44-centimeter widths, and 143-millimeters for the 46-centimeter width bar. Reach is 78. 5-millimeters. Thomson recommends a torque of 5nm, and they come with friction paste for installation.

Thomson Downhill Handlebar Thomson Downhill Handlebar
When Ronnie set out to improve on his daughter's road bike, that component -- a CNC-machined alloy stem -- gained immediate respect for its thorough design and use of quality materials. This launched a long-time aerospace engineer into the niche, high-end cycling industry. Fifteen years later, and Thomson continues to expand its engineering and design prowess into components like this Downhill Handlebar. Around the time of Thomson's introduction to the world of cycling, mountain bikes were progressing into a new realm of riding -- downhill riding was transitioning from fire-road time trials to jump and drop laden courses, and narrow handlebars became shop cheater bars as they were swapped in favor of moto-esque risers. While this was happening, Thomson quickly built a reputation among the off-road segment for its strong and appealingly designs. The Thomson Downhill Handlebar keeps that tradition alive by using 7050 aluminum, CNC bending, and multiple tapers to provide a wide handlebar that can handle season after season of punishment. For example, the taper at the straight and long (65mm) clamp zone is designed to mate with wide, direct-mount stems. This offers class-leading torsional stiffness when paired to Thomson's triple-clamp stem, and also reduces stress to the bar for incredible resistance to material fatigue. The tapering expands beyond the butting at the stem clamping junction, too. It's also used at the ends, where . 2mm of thickness is added to resist damage from laying down the bike. A unique CNC bending process further adds to the strength. Instead of manually bending and grinding stock, Thomson uses a state-of-the-art, computer controlled process to ensure the bends are consistent and within exacting tolerance of the bars multiple tapers. This results in excellent strength and flex resistance for steering precision and reassurance during high-speed descents. The Thomson Downhill Handlebar is 780mm wide and has 12mm of rise. Thomson Titanium Mountain Handlebar Thomson Titanium Mountain Handlebar
While the Elite Dropper seatpost may be the most anticipated product from Thompson, its quiet entry into the handlebar market, with products like this Titanium Mountain Handlebar, could be just as significant. Natural growth of Thomson's product line led them to another cockpit component, which not only shows commitment to providing performance parts, but is also a proud display of Thomson's mountain biking heritage. Ti handlebars were a preferred setup before full-sus, tuned carbon frames. Right before the transition to flexing, creaking, and cracking, Thomson -- an unheard of aerospace manufacturer -- rocked the singletrack boat with a one-piece, fully CNC'd aluminum stem. At this time, carbon bars were still too new to be trusted, and titanium was the ultimate balance of strength to weight -- with an uncanny ability to take an edge off those rigid rides. Thomson's stem was a fresh concept with applied aerospace design concepts that provided unmatched performance. When one of those machined stems arrived to a shop, it was quickly matched to a Ti bar for someone's dream build. Ti, however, fell in desirability -- just like hardtail and rigid mountain bikes -- as carbon fiber and suspension technology improved, and slowly chipped away market share. Thomson stems, however, thrived during the rise of full suspension and carbon due to their increadable quality, stiffness, and low weight. Fast forward to today and there's a thriving hardtail market, rejuvenated by new wheel sizes that maximize the efficiency and simplicity of the double-diamond design. And lo and behold, titanium handlebars' unique ride quality -- not to mention its excellent strength to weight ratio -- complement this segment just as that early drool-worthy Thomson/Ti combination. Thomson's Titanium Handlebar marks a change in company direction too, as it is among an assortment of products that no longer rely on the aluminum machining expertise. Instead Thomson continues to use its US facilities...

TruVativ Descendant Carbon Riser Handlebar TruVativ Descendant Carbon Riser Handlebar
A riser bar is to an enduro sled like peanut butter is to chocolate: it's not for everybody, but if it's your thing, then it fulfills a craving that no other combination can. For that particular group, TruVativ's Descendant Carbon Riser Handlebar stands up tall with 20mm of rise across its 750mm expanse in order to give you the all-mountain equivalent of a peanut butter cup's mix of salty sweetness and pleasantly soft, savory bitterness. The bar's rise adds more stability by shifting your center of gravity back slightly, but the length makes cornering easier and steering more responsive by accounting for the slack head tubes that typically define enduro sleds. The combination nets a cockpit that's comfortable rolling roughshod over terrain instead of dicing through it. It retains the big-hit hunger of your 66-degree monster, but it also tidies up the occasionally sloppy steering that we associate with those brutish bikes.

The tops of the bars have been flattened, which not only provides a comfortable surface area to rest your hands, but they also are more resistant to road vibration than traditional round bars. And for the subtle advantage, the flattened bars are also more aerodynamic. The hooks are ovalized, which provides a wider grip for your hands. The overall shape of the bars is Zipp's short and shallow bend. This configuration means that the distance between the hood and the drops has been reduced to make the transition easier -- the drops become more usable than on a more traditional lower drop bar.

Zipp Service Course Handlebar Zipp Service Course Handlebar
Using the same tapered diameter as its carbon counterparts, the Zipp Service Course Handlebar goes from 31. 8mm at its central clamp down to 24. 2mm at the top bend. This tapered diameter lends an intuitive shape for high levels of comfort. Its durable 6061 aluminum construction retains brawny strength at the expense of a few grams over carbon bars. If counting every gram isn't your foremost priority, you'll find these bars to excel in performance without emptying your wallet. The Ergo version features a 70mm reach and 128mm drop, with a 10-degree ramp angle and 4-degree outsweep. The net effect is a bar that places your shift/brake levers in a high, easily reachable position, without compromising your hand position in the drops. Its dual-radius curve gives you a longer, flatter hand surface that's similar to an anatomic bend, but with a more subtle, less curvy shape. Plus, its ergonomic shaping facilitates comfortable hand placement along the top side. The traditional version comes with an 80mm reach and 125mm drop, with a 7-degree ramp angle and 4-degree outsweep. This creates a bar with a modest drop with a bit more curve in the transition leading up to the hoods.

Zipp Service Course SL-70 Ergo Handlebar Zipp Service Course SL-70 Ergo Handlebar
Regardless of its renowned homage to carbon, Zipp realizes that aluminum is far from an outdated material. Whether you prefer it for peace of mind in the heat of the sprint or find the slight weight difference an easy way to keep your ultra-light bike above legal weight limits for your Cat 1 debut, the Zipp Service Course SL Ergo Handlebar showcases the best of aluminum's qualities -- strength, low weight, and relatively low cost. The Zipp SL Ergo handlebars are the replacement for the Zipp CSL bars. They were designed with Zipp's SSR (Super Short Reach) dimensions -- a 70mm reach means that it is easier for riders with shorter arms and smaller hands to reach the shifters while in the drops. These dimensions are the same as the SL-70 -- the primary difference is that the tops of the SL Ergo bars have been sculpted flat to provide a substantial platform for your hands during long climbs. The cables tuck nicely underneath. The drop angle of the bars is only 20 degrees. This allows you to position your levers in the 'high-and-Belgian' style or in the flat-top neo-pro style without having to rotate your bars skyward. The drops have a 2 degree outward bend for more wrist comfort, which also minimizes bruised forearms while sprinting. The Zipp Service Course SL Ergo Handlebars are available in 2cm increments from 38cm-44cm measured center to center, and each pair of bars fits a 31. 8mm stem. They come in two colors: Polished Black, a high gloss finish with white logos, or Beyond Black, a matte black with etched logos for a stealthy look.

Zipp Service Course SL-70 Handlebar Zipp Service Course SL-70 Handlebar
Aluminum is far from extinct as a high-end bike material. For example, many pros still rely on aluminum handlebars, whether it be for peace of mind or because having a more substantial bar is an intelligent way to meet the UCI minimum weight requirement without sacrificing ride quality. Regardless, the Zipp Service Course SL Handlebar makes the most of aluminum's beneficial properties -- it features a low weight, high strength, and a relatively low cost. All the while, the SL provides the same exquisite design detail that's found in Zipp's carbon fiber bars. The Service Course SL uses the same shaping for the Short-and-Shallow version as used in the SL Carbon Fiber Handlebar. It's built with round tops that taper downward in a smooth and constant manner from the 31. 8mm clamp area to a 24. 2mm diameter at the top bend. The drop angle is only 20 degrees. What's the net effect' You're able to position your levers in the high-and-Belgian style, and you'll get a smooth transition from the bar onto the drops. In addition to this, the Short-and-Shallow bar has a dual radius curve in the drops. So, you'll benefit from the longer, flatter hand surface. We're tempted to call it an anatomic bend, but be aware that the bend shape is, thankfully, subtle and not overly curvy like many anatomic bars of the past. The 84. 5mm reach, plus the short radius behind the clamp area, make it easy to get the crook of your hand 'locked' into position for a solid feel in the drops. This also provides a simplified reach to the brake levers. For the drop, the 128mm plunge makes the lower portion of the handlebars more accessible. Zipp also produces the Service Course SL in a Traditional Bend with an 87. 5mm reach and a 130mm drop. If you detest anatomic bars of any sort, but you're looking for a bar with a modest drop, then this is the bar that's best suited to your tastes. With a slightly steeper drop angle than the Short-and-Shallow version, this Traditional Bend will give you a bit ...

Zipp Service Course SL-80 Handle Bar Zipp Service Course SL-80 Handle Bar
You could pay top dollar for carbon bars and hope they don't break when you crank into a sprint or take a tumble, or you could trust your first-place finish and cockpit durability to the 7050 aluminum of Zipp's Service Course SL-80 Handlebar. They weigh only 60g more than Zipp's comparable carbon bars, and have a relatively short 80mm reach that makes the drops more accessible without needing a shorter stem, which can make the bike twitchy. The drop is also a moderate 125mm, so you don't have to be a circus performer to use them comfortably, and the rounded top of the bars provides a comfortable platform for your hands without torqueing your wrists.

Zipp Service Course SL-88 Handlebar Zipp Service Course SL-88 Handlebar
Drop handlebars used to have one shape. Period. Now, there are countless styles to choose from -- anatomic, short reach, double-bend, just to name a few.The Zipp Service Course SL-88 is a traditional bend drop bar. A replacement for the Service Course SL-TB, it is a strong, lightweight aluminum bar. Regardless of the popularity of carbon for both weight and 'bling' factor, aluminum has not lost its appeal. It provides strong sprinters with security as they grip the bars and drive the bike forward with thousands of watts. It also adds a few extra ounces to an ultralight bike that may not otherwise meet UCI weight requirements. Because aluminum remains popular among all levels of riders, Zipp designs its Service Course with fit and durability that compete with similar carbon bars. The SL-88 was designed with a round section tubing featuring an 88mm reach and a 130mm drop with a round bend. The round bend allows ample room to position hands while in the drops. Additionally, the round bend has only a slight 20 degree angle -- levers may be positioned in several positions to accommodate different styles of riding. There is no need to rotate your bars toward the heavens to get that perfect fit. The Zipp Service Course SL-88 Handlebars are available in 3 widths from 40cm-44cm measured center to center, and each pair fits a 31. 8mm stem. They come in two colors: Polished Black, a high gloss finish with white logos, or Beyond Black, a matte black with etched logos for a stealthy look.

Zipp Vuka Alumina Base Bar Zipp Vuka Alumina Base Bar
Knowing that the base bar is the foundation of your cockpit, Zipp engineered its new Vuka Alumina Base Bar to provide the most stable, efficient, and versatile platform available from an aluminum construction. Its sleek and aerodynamic profile lets you dial-in the perfect position by using a variety of clips and extensions. And, in addition to this, its design yields an incredibly durable base that provides an affordable alternative to the full-carbon options. Zipp modeled the Alumina after its VukaBull, using the proven 6066-series aluminum instead of carbon fiber. Compared to the VukaBull, the Alumina weighs in around 40g heavier (250g), and it doesn't feature the same airfoil shape or drop option. However, at roughly one-third of the price, and with only a minimal weight penalty, it provides you with a value-oriented base bar that's still exceptionally versatile. Zipp's engineers made the Alumina as sleek as possible, incorporating internal cable routing and smooth, natural bends that form the five-degree upswept hand grips. Borrowed from the VukaBull, this design promotes a natural wrist position for climbing and sprinting. The bar's wide mounting area provides an array of extension positions, allowing you to find the most optimal fit for your riding style. Zipp also designed the Alumina to be compatible with all current drivetrain systems and plug-in style brake levers. It's optimized for use with the Vuka Alumina Clip, but it's also compatible with the VukaClip and most other clips on the market. The Zipp Vuka Alumina Base Bar is available in a high-polish Black finish. It measures 42cm (outside-to-outside) and has a 31. 8mm clamp diameter.

Zipp Vuka Alumina Clips & Evo Extensions Zipp Vuka Alumina Clips & Evo Extensions
Update your aerobar and improve your time trial position with the Zipp Vuka Alumina Clips & Evo Extensions. Built to provide an effortless balance of control, comfort, and aerodynamics, this clip and extension combo is an integral piece of the puzzle as you race to take seconds off the clock. The Zipp Vuka Alumina Clips & Evo Extensions provide highly adjustable and versatile positioning options with a 22. 2mm extension clip diameter and a 31. 8mm bar clamp diameter. These dimensions are compatible with nearly every reputable base bar and extension, leaving ample room to experiment with positioning to lock in the perfect combination of aerodynamics and comfort. Zipp constructs the Vuka Alumina Clip from a shot-peened aluminum that's both stiff and resistant to fatigue, and its adjust mechanism allows for both angular and rotational tweaks to dial in the fit. The EVA foam pads are pre-shaped to perfectly holster your arms with position adjustment up to 12. 5mm behind the base bar. The Vuka design hinges on Zipp's compression sleeve for attachment. Accordingly, the clips don't involve external mounts or hardware, and the frontal profile of the Vuka has been minimized as to not contribute to drag. Even further along these lines, each Vuka Clip features internal cable routing. The Zipp Vuka Alumina Evo Extensions are the perfect pairing with the Alumina Clips, a collaboration between Zipp and a stable of expert bike fitters to best meet the needs of time trialists and triathletes. Designed with a multi-radius bend and a 20mm inward roll, these extensions provide exceptional comfort and place your hands closer together and slightly higher for optimal aerodynamic and long-distance comfort. Plug-style shifter attachments at the ends of the extensions keep the shifters close at hand for quick gear changes without needing to break your aero tuck position and, like the Vuka Clips, the Vuka Extensions feature internal cable routing for clean lines.

Zipp Vuka Bull Carbon Basebar Zipp Vuka Bull Carbon Basebar
Zipp's Vuka Bull Carbon Basebar has an illustrious history, even at its relatively young age. Earning both a gold medal in an Olympic time trial as well as a Kona victory, the bar has shown its versatility in two different races on two large stages. The good news is that it's available for the rest of us, too, whether we're self-sponsored amateurs or looking towards a spot in the peloton. Zipp knows that building a TT cockpit starts with a base bar, and it engineered the Vuka Bull to offer an efficient platform with the vibration dampening effects and weight-saving advantages of carbon construction that it's known for. Zipp recently revisited the Vuka Bull design, making slight alterations to its airfoil shape while keeping it fully compliant with all UCI regulations. In terms of shape, the Vuka Bull now features a slightly updated airfoil design, a concave nose, and forward-sweeping arms. An added 10mm of room for lateral adjustment in the wide clamp area allows for an array of extension positions and more freedom when making fit adjustments, ensuring you're able to find the most optimal fit for your riding style. The increased angle of the grips puts the wrists in a natural position for more stability during climbs and sprints, and at a claimed 200g, this basebar won't add excess weight to your ultralight tri or TT setup. The Vuka Bull basebar is compatible with Zipp's Vuka Alumina Clips and Vuka carbon or aluminum extensions.

Zipp Vuka Extensions Zipp Vuka Extensions
Zipp's Vuka Extensions are an integral part of the Zipp aerodynamic bar system, as they were designed to give you the perfect balance of comfort, control, and efficient aerodynamics during your race against the clock. Zipp engineered four styles of the Vuka Extensions, giving you an array of options to completely dial in a custom, aerodynamic fit. The Straight extension puts you in a low, flat-out aerodynamic position, while the Ski-Tip places you in a position built for both speed and long-distance comfort. The new Vuka Race shape was designed after compiling data and feedback from thousands of fit sessions with professional cyclists and triathletes around the world. This 'Race Bend' places the wrists at a natural angle in order to help you comfortably remain in your tucked position. The last option is called the Race Vuka Shift, which features both the innovative race bend and places the shifter directly onto the extension. This shape keeps the shifters close to your hands, meaning that you stay down in your aerodynamic tuck, even when making those crucial shifts. This option is only compatible with SRAM 900 TT, 500 TT, R2C Aero Shifter, and Zipp R2C shifters. Zipp's carbon Vuka Extensions come with an industry-standard 22. 2 mm diameter and are compatible with the new Vuka Alumina Clip, but not the VukaClip or Vukero. All extension styles have a length of 360 mm and utilize internal cable routing. The carbon Race, Straight, and Ski-Tip bends are compatible with all shifting systems. Please note: For guidelines on cutting the Vuka Extensions, please refer to Zipp's instructions provided through its official website. The Zipp Vuka Extensions are constructed from carbon fiber and are available in the following options: Ski, Straight, Vuka Race, and Race Vuka Shift Zipp/SRAM R2C.

Zipp Vuka Integrated Aerobar Zipp Vuka Integrated Aerobar
In triathlons and time trials, aerodynamics are everything and even the smallest reductions in drag can pay off in big dividends of increased speed. Get streamlined with the Zipp Vuka Integrated Aerobar. Made with Zipp's legendary attention to detail and impeccable carbon design, this bar is built to match with a standard road stem and turn your cockpit into an air slicing TT missile. Zipp starts by borrowing the Exogram technology found in the super-light and strong SRAM Red cranksets to minimize weight while maximizing stiffness and strength. This capitalizes on two qualities we look for in our cockpit kit: reliability and efficient power transfer. The clamp hardware and riser kit make for secure mounting and a customizability that doesn't privilege aerodynamics over comfort. The big news that sets this bar apart from other super aerodynamic setups is its compatibility with everyday road stems. By incorporating a removable center cap that sits neatly in place to reduce drag and reinforce the bar stiffness, Zipp fashions this bar to pair with almost any stem while still pushing the limits of aerodynamics. Specific to the shape, that center cap provides a seamless transition between the bar and stem that closely mirrors single-piece bar and stem combinations. For aerodynamics, Zipp utilizes a truncated airfoil shape, somewhat akin to a shortened teardrop, that still adheres to the UCI's 3:1 ratio requirement. The bar's Rapid Routing internal cable system further reduces drag by moving cables under the surface with strategically places exit ports for ease of installation. The Vuka Integrated Aerobar comes packaged with a base bar, extension clamps, armrest clamps, risers (two each of 5mm, 10mm, 25mm, and 50mm), Vuka armrest pads, Vuka armrest and steel hardware. Please note that extensions and stem are not included with the Vuka Integrated Aerobar.

Zipp Vuka Stealth Aerobar Zipp Vuka Stealth Aerobar
The Vuka Stealth Aerobar features an integrated stem, base bar, and hardware, all wrapped in a simple, one-piece design. The cables are routed internally for additional aerodynamics. And, if you're concerned about the bars being UCI 3:1 legal, you'll be pleased to know that the airfoil design engineered by Zipp fits all current regulations. The bars themselves were laid from unidirectional carbon. The process by which the fibers are laid is complex due to engineering load path and force, but by orienting the fibers in one direction, the bars are stiff, light, and provide more vibration dampening than the more popular woven fiber.
