100% Aircraft DH Helmet 100% Aircraft DH Helmet
100% knows a few things about eye protection on the dirt track, but it cares about your gray matter too. Go bold and barrel into the tough stuff on your next ride with the protection of the 100% Aircraft DH Helmet. A full-face construction gives you coverage appropriate for lift-accessed rowdiness, while Carbon and KEVLAR work together to create an extremely light shell that you'll have to work pretty hard to dent during a high-speed spill. Reliable protection doesn't have to mean sweating it out in a helmet that completely seals you off from the outdoor world, so 100% designed the Aircraft DH to accommodate the 25 vents in its Active Cooling System. Without impacting the structural integrity of the helmet, the vents prevent your dome from overheating on warm days, while a plush liner adds comfort to the inside of the helmet. Even though it fights odor, the liner's fully washable too, so you can rinse out the sweat to keep it soft. Buckle up and secure the helmet with a durable titanium buckle, and ride with the reassurance that 100% included a compartment compatible with inflatable emergency release systems, as well cheek pads designed for easy release in the event of an emergency. If the day looks like it's going to get even rowdier, add a neck brace of your choice to your setup; the Aircraft DH works with most on the market.

100% Aircraft MIPS Helmet 100% Aircraft MIPS Helmet
Send stomach-dropping lines that make you feel like your idols knowing your brain is protected with the 100% Aircraft MIPS Helmet. 100% took a leap into the helmet world with the original version of this helmet, and the goggle and accessory company shows it's committed to helmets for the long haul with this strong design, now featuring the added protection of MIPS. Drop in, and you'll barely feel the feathery Aircraft until you need it. Whether you're a fixture on the weekend race circuit around your local trails or are stepping up your DH game, the Aircraft's carbon and KEVLAR shell delivers time-saving lightness without a compromise in rigidity for the days when things don't go as planned. 100% wisely blends a material known for its unmatched weight loss with one renowned for toughness to create a shell that'll have you covered in a rock garden without dragging you down on everyday rides. Within that shell, 100% also carefully carved out a staggering 25 vents and air channels, which is no small feat in a full face helmet. This well-executed system establishes a consistent flow of air into and out of the shell so that you stay cool and dry on the stickiest mid-summer days without compromising the structural integrity of the helmet. Sitting inside those vents is another defining safety feature of the helmet. MIPS, or Multi Directional Impact Protection System, refers to a thin inner basket that rotates upon impact to absorb brain-damaging rotational energy created in certain crashes. The relatively new technology is just another way to help reduce your likelihood of serious head injuries, without affecting your day-to-day ride quality. Additionally, 100% took care to add features like breakaway cheek pads, an integrated compartment that eases compatibility with emergency release systems, and compatibility with neck braces, all features that put it on the same playing field as other high-end DH helmets. Of course, 100%'s emphasis on sleekness and low weight se...

6D Helmets ATB-1 Helmet 6D Helmets ATB-1 Helmet
Heading up the lifts for a day of race prep requires a little more protection than your average trail ride. You only get one brain, so if you're going to be a fixture on the DH or BMX circuit this year, 6D's ATB-1 Helmet makes a strong case for being the lid you trust to guard your grey matter. The full-face design comes packed full of safety features, along with ample consideration given to lightness and ventilation. The ATB-1 will protect you so well your mom will stop threatening to put you in a shred-hindering bubble. 6D achieves the ATB-1's blend of protection and practicality by using a 3K carbon fiber shell fused to its Omni-Directional Suspension liner, which consists of two separate EPS layers. Between these two layers sit 27 elastic dampers, which work to isolate the innermost layer of the helmet from forces traveling through the shell and outer layer. The layered suspension system anticipates low, medium, and high speed impacts, limiting energy transfer as much as possible. The inner liner moves along three dimensions upon impact, then resets on its own after a crash. Proprietary technology aside, the system addresses serious risks to riders, separating the ATB-1 from more recreational models. Towards the practicality end, 6D took as much careful consideration to ventilation and construction as it did to safety for the ATB-1. It carved out ten intake ports, 13 transfer ports, and four exhaust ports to create its aggressive airflow system, guaranteeing fresh air reaches your head while you ride without compromising structural integrity. An anti-odor liner adds comfort along the inside of the helmet, with padding and protection along the jaw, face, and cheeks, as well as a cutaway for freedom of movement along the collar bone. Plus, both the cheek pads and visor were built to be easily released in an emergency.

Bell Full-9 Helmet Bell Full-9 Helmet
Bell's Full-9 helmet packages all its engineers' expertise from motosports into a bike-specific helmet. They also gathered a year's worth of feedback from professional downhill riders to make this their flagship bike helmet. Ready to take on anything you'll find on your mountain or BMX bike, the Full-9 is one of the best full-face helmets money can buy. Bell's engineers built the shell of the Full-9 with unidirectional carbon, Kevlar, and a fiberglass blend. This makes for a highly durable and incredibly lightweight helmet that doesn't weigh you down like other full-face helmets. The Overbrow Ventilation system uses 10 vents to actively channel air over your head from the front to back to keep you cool as you ride. Bell packed the Full-9 with features to keep you safe and to enhance your overall riding experience. The helmet's removable camera mount seamlessly connects your favorite GoPro or Contour camera to the best spot on the helmet. It's a removable, 360-degree breakaway mount that allows your camera to pop off when you fall in any direction--protecting your neck, camera, and the helmet itself. If you are injured, you can use Bell's Eject System, which allows safe removal of the helmet due to a recess in the EPS that allows the cheek pads to quickly slide out. To make your ride more enjoyable, Bell added Soundtrax--built-in speaker pockets and cable routing out the back of the helmet so you can pump tunes without getting tangled up.The helmet weighs around 1050 grams and is certified to CPSC; ASTM BMX, Downhill, and CE standards. Finishing touches include a padded chin strap with a D-ring closure, a fully-adjustable Flying Bridge visor, and integrated roost guard.

Bell Sanction Helmet Bell Sanction Helmet
Bell's Sanction Full-Face Helmet was originally designed as a lightweight domepiece for the groms, but it proved so popular that Bell sized it up to suit dirt-jumping, BMX-riding adults. It's lighter and sleeker than full-faces meant for gravity riding but has a hard-laminated fiberglass shell and EVA foam padding to absorb impacts. A moto-inspired mouth guard extends the shell and channeled ventilation helps keep your noggin cool when you're ripping pump tracks or dialing in your tail whips.

Bell Transfer-9 Helmet Bell Transfer-9 Helmet
Little brother to the Full-9, Bell's Transfer 9 is not small on features or protection. Using its unrivaled moto experience, Bell designed a helmet that protects your noggin at about half the price. You'd expect that for half the price, the Transfer-9 would have half the features. But, this is far from the truth. Instead this CE, CPSC, and ASTM certified helmet was designed using slightly heavier materials than the Full-9. Whereas the shell of the Full-9 is carbon, the Transfer uses a composite material -- it adds about 150 grams to the weight of the helmet. In the grand scheme, however, 1200 grams is still very light for a full coverage helmet. It won't make you feel like a bobble-head or tire out your neck muscles. The biggest plus is that it drops the price. The profile of the two helmets is nearly identical with extra padding and coverage in the back. Added to the Transfer-9 is a breakaway camera mount that doesn't compromise the integrity of the helmet. The visor also features breakaway screws. To ensure that the helmet fits your head, the 3D-formed quick-snap cheekpads and interior padding are adjustable. Additionally, the Transfer-9 includes the Eject helmet removal system which allows emergency crews to remove your helmet without riskof further injury, should your day go awry. The padding is removable and washable. The design of a full-face helmet inherently means that there are fewer vents than a standard helmet. Bell combats this using the Overbrow ventilation, which places three large vents at the forehead to move air back through the helmet. Finally, so that you can hear your favorite tunes while on the trails, the Transfer-9 uses Soundtrax speaker pockets. These integrated pockets hold your earbuds so that you don't need to modify the structure of the helmet. The Bell Transfer-9 Helmet comes in sizes X-Small through XX-Large. It is available in 3 colors: Yellow/purple hydra, Glow Green 54, and Black/white/red element.

Fox Racing Rampage Comp Helmet Fox Racing Rampage Comp Helmet
If you salivated at the thought of getting the Fox Head Rampage Pro Carbon Helmet, but couldn't quite see your way clear to paying the Pro Carbon price, take heart that Fox has released the Rampage Comp Helmet, making available many of the same fit innovations as the Pro Carbon, but at a much more palatable price. Though the Rampage Pro was used as inspiration, the Rampage Comp is its own helmet. Made from a race-ready fiberglass shell, the weight remains low while the durability and level of protection is high. The shell comes in two sizes, and the EPS liner comes in three dimensions, so you will be able to find the perfect fit for your noggin. Keep in mind, though, that since the shell shape for the Rampage Comp is different from the Rampage Pro, you'll want to make sure that you're getting fitted to the right size, and not just go on what works for you with the Pro Carbon version. Certainly the fact that Fox has made the Comp in six possible sizes compared to the Pro's five will give you a wider range of fit options. The result is a pro level helmet that will come with practically a custom fit. The EPS liner has a channeled airflow system that will work with the eleven vents to improve airflow through the helmet, keeping you cool. The Shell Specific poured Polyurethane chinbar provides added protection while maintaining an extremely light weight.

Giro Disciple MIPS Helmet Giro Disciple MIPS Helmet
You count yourself as a disciple of freeride and enduro racing and guys like Gwin and Semenuk, so don't cut corners on head protection when you're launching off features and sending lines inspired by them. Replace an old lid with the Giro Disciple MIPS Helmet to make sure your grey matter stays where you need it when a big day doesn't exactly goes as planned. Since you'll (hopefully) spend most of your ride time never needing the Disciple, Giro also made it light and breathable, so you'll stay comfortable and cool during the majority of the time when everything goes to plan. Rather than choosing the traditional In-Mold construction most helmets use, Giro opted for a fiberglass shell for the Disciple MIPS instead. Light and strong, the shell comes equipped to throw down with rocks, gravel, and the occasional tree, with an EPS foam liner for extra backup. Giro even beefed up the jaw area with extra Vinyl nitrile padding for handlebar and tree branch bashings, and it made sure to make the integrated P. O. V. camera mount able to break away in the event of a crash to prevent further damage to both the mount and your noggin. As if that weren't enough, Giro went the extra mile to protect your cognitive abilities by adding MIPS technology to the Disciple as well. Now nearly ubiquitous across the helmet world, MIPS appears in the Disciple in the form of a thin inner basket, constructed to rotate upon impact to reduce the brain-damaging energy generated by certain impacts. It's far from fail-safe, but it leaves you a hell of a lot more protected in some crashes than helmets of five years ago might've. Of course, Giro made room for some fun too. Built-in speakers keep your ride playlist cranking while you rally, and Fit Kit padding makes sure the helmet sits comfortably atop your dome for hours on-end.

Kali Protectives Shiva 2.0 Full-Face Helmet Kali Protectives Shiva 2.0 Full-Face Helmet
Designed for riders who demand exceptional performance and uncompromising comfort, the Kali Protectives Shiva 2. 0 Helmet uses game-changing technology to set the standard in full face helmet protection. Starting with Kali's proprietary NanoFusion tech, the Shiva 2. 0 features in-molded multi-density EPS with acrylic self-healing foam and carbon nanotubes that work to dissipate the force of impact more efficiently in a smaller volume. Then, the LDL (Low-Density Layer) consists of specially designed sections of Armourgel padding placed throughout the interior of the helmet to reduce low-g impact forces by 12% and rotational forces by 25%. Meanwhile, the adjustable visor rotates easily to meet the angles of the sun, while also boasting a break-away design that comes off in a crash to help reduce rotational forces to your dome. A multitude of vents throughout this helmet keep cool air continuously flowing through for comfort on hotter, summer rides, while the anti-microbial pads inside prevent the build-up of odors and bacteria from stinking up your car on the drive home. And if those pads don't do a good enough job fighting the funk, the liner is removable and washable to give you fresh fit every time you hit the trails.

Leatt 5.0 Composite Full-Face Helmet Leatt 5.0 Composite Full-Face Helmet
With the needs of downhill riders and mountain bikers at the forefront of its design, the Leatt 5. 0 Composite Full-Face Helmet delivers high levels of both safety and comfort along for the ride. The 5. 0 helmet is lined with ten turbines made of 3D-molded Armourgel--an energy-absorbing material that hardens upon impact--to ensure your brain's protected in a way that actually works better the faster or harder you fall. This innovative technology reduces the head impact at concussion level by up to 30% and the rotation acceleration to the head and brain by up to 40%, thus delivering a well-protected melon and some peace of mind when you're roosting berms or sending drops at high speeds. Then, the 3D in-molded V-foam and a 10% smaller shell size further your safety by transferring up to 20% less rotational forces to your neck, head, and brain. Refusing to sacrifice comfort at the cost of protection, this full-face helmet is extremely lightweight and highly ventilated for continuous cooling air flow that circulates even at low speeds. Comfort is further enhanced by a moisture-wicking, breathable, anti-odor and washable DriLex liner that prevents overheating and keeps offensive stenches at bay. Meanwhile, its built-in visor breaks away easily for rotational reduction when you crash, while the low-friction cheek pads make for an easy removal in case of an emergency situation. Leatt also designed this helmet's features and shape to work flawlessly with their Leatt neck brace (sold separately). Plus, its Fidlock magnetic buckle provides you with custom fitting with a quick and convenient twist of a dial.

Leatt 6.0 DBX Carbon Helmet Leatt 6.0 DBX Carbon Helmet
Leatt certainly wasn't addressing a budget-conscious crowd when it developed its 6. 0 Carbon Helmet, but then again, it's hard to place a value on preserving your cognitive abilities. If you're in the habit of going big on the DH/freeride course or BMX circuit, we'd suggest taking a look at the design. It's one of Leatt's first forays into the helmet realm and it's also certainly one that's attracted attention from its competitors. Using a mix of new proprietary technology and a sleek, featherweight carbon construction, Leatt created a helmet that was smaller and lighter than most on the market but that preserves the ability to protect against multiple low-speed impacts and rotational forces while remaining functional and light. The helmet's shell comes first in defending you upon impact with the ground, and Leatt addressed not only the material the shell is constructed with, but also the shape of the shell itself. In the case of the 6. 0 Carbon, that interaction consists of a carbon in-mold shell fused to an impact-absorbing inner layer of EPS foam. Leatt specifically shaped the outer shell to eliminate any unnecessary material and provide a contoured fit around the head and neck, minimizing forces transferred to the neck as well as rotational forces to the head and brain in a spill. 360 Turbine refers to an assortment of buttons (bear with us) made out of a relatively new material known as Armourgel. Renowned for its ability to become rigid upon impact, Armourgel is extremely efficient at effectively blocking impact forces, specifically from low-speed impacts, which are notorious for causing concussions. With small buttons of Armourgel strategically placed between the helmet's shell and its EPS liner on the 6. 0, Leatt aims to stop as much force as possible from traveling through the rest of the helmet. The small buttons also allow the outer shell to rotate slightly upon impact to protect against oblique impacts, and since most of the force of low-speed impac...

POC Cortex Flow Helmet POC Cortex Flow Helmet
The POC Cortex Flow helmet is a bit different than its Cortex DH big brother. First of all, it's a single-shell helmet. The exterior is made of fiberglass, and the single layer design necessitates a thicker shell. So it's a more durable shell than the carbon fiber on the Cortex DH, but it's also a heavier shell. While it takes external design cues from the Cortex DH, the single shell means the vents channel air directly into the helmet, through holes in the shell that are aligned with a like pattern in the EPP liner. In reality, it ventilates better than the DH version because of this direct flow path for fresh air. The chinguard is positioned just right to provide coverage but ensure you can still breathe easily on hot days as you sprint from one berm to the next. The Cortex Flow helmet meets all the European and US safety standards. As mentioned, it vents better than its DH big brother. But the DH is a much more robust helmet with its double layer construction and MIPS technology. If you're prone to bailing but live for high-speed excitement, do yourself a favor and go for the DH version of the Cortex Helmet.

Troy Lee Designs D3 Carbon MIPS Helmet Troy Lee Designs D3 Carbon MIPS Helmet
Going big occasionally means crashing big, so instead of tucking a lucky rabbit's foot into your pocket before dropping in, don the Troy Lee Designs D3 Carbon MIPS Helmet. It's at the top of the heap when it comes to fit, comfort, and resisting impact, with a super-adjustable incremental sizing system that makes it possible to dial in fit that's far more comfortable than you can get with a traditional dial adjustment. In addition to the lightweight carbon-composite shell, the MIPS system takes the sting out of rotational impacts for those inevitable times that see you bounce down a tranny onto your noggin. The shape of the D3 isn't radically different than the D2, but it does pack a little bit more foam into key areas and tweaks the cheek and jaw pads to provide a snugger, more comfortable fit. Dual-density shock pads around the shell absorb smaller impacts, but the sweetest feature might be the removable washable liner, made with washable Coolmax and Dri-Max materials that keep your dome cool, dry, and smelling like a daisy. 20 vents take the cooling up a notch or four, and the adjustable visor can be swapped out with the included second option for a different look.
