Afton Keegan Shoe - Men's Afton Keegan Shoe - Men's
In a flat-shoe world dominated by one brand, the Afton Keegan Shoe is the new kid on the block. They are casually inspired, with skate shoe design roots, but elevate themselves to perform hard when rubber hits the pedal. The shoes feature durable synthetic leather uppers that protect from trail debris and the elements, and Afton's own Intact rubber sole to keep you locked on to the pedals on chunky downhills. The uppers wrap your foot up with durable synthetic leather that shields you from water and mud, and dries quickly. Venting in the toebox and lateral areas of the shoe keep cool air moving in, and sweat moving out, so your feet can stay comfortable on long rides. The toe box is reinforced with additional protection thanks to a coat of polyurethane that shields your toes from rock deflections, and trail debris. On the inside, a textile lining provides you with moisture wicking properties to pull away perspiration, and manage temperature. Enhancing comfort further is a foam insole with anti-odor properties that keep you feeling fresh, and molded support for your arch and heel that reduces force from impacts. While the uppers provide us with the coverage needed for charging all-mountain and gravity lines, we think the magic in the Keegan lies in its sole construction. Underneath the molded foam insole is a mono-directional interior shank. That's a fancy way of saying that the midsole provides flex in one direction, but not both --meaning when you put pressure on your pedals your shoe doesn't flex over the edge of the pedal, but when you hit the trail on foot it provides natural flex that your foot needs to dig in tread and climb. Outside, the sole is constructed with Afton's proprietary Intact rubber, that boasts a Shore A of 60, meaning its durable and long lasting to stand up to the rough bolts of flat pedals, but still provides some tacky grip to ensure you're not slipping around.

Afton Vectal Shoe - Men's Afton Vectal Shoe - Men's
Fresh off the press, the Afton Vectal Shoes are hungry for big hitting enduro riders and gravity junkies. These kicks are designed to be tough enough for the harshest trails, but with thorough comfort inside that doesn't leave your feet aching after chunky descents, thanks to tough synthetic leather uppers, plush internals, and top-notch sole design that locks you in to clipless pedals, but offers tacky traction when your shoes hit the trail. The Vectal is Afton's debut clipless shoe, and jam-packed with so much style and tech, we won't hesitate to assume that its research and development team took their time with these bad boys. The uppers resemble skate shoe style, with an over-all low profile cut, but they are reinforced to stand up to rock deflections and trail debris that we encounter on the bike. They use synthetic leather to wrap up your foot, and hit it with targeted venting to keep you from overheating, plus reinforcement where it's most needed, like the heel and toe boxes, to increase the shoe's longevity. The toe is hit with polyurethane to increase durability and shield you from impacts, and the heel is reinforced to cup you in for a superior fit, plus a large tongue strap allows you to cinch them down to the right spot, minimizing chances of heel slip. Inside, the shoe uses soft cushioning to protect your feet, and an molded foam insole to support your heel and arch, with anti-odor properties, so you don't only look fresh, but feel fresh too. Underneath the molded foam insole is our favorite part of the shoe --a tapered shank designed to transfer power to the pedal, but flex as needed for walking. This stiffness-flex balance is achieved by tapering the thickness of the shank from 4 to 12-millimeters, creating a stiff and supportive platform where desired, and allowing gentle flex where it's needed. Underneath the shank is an oversized clip box for your cleats to mount, with a 35-milliometer track to allows you to position your cleats wherever you pr...

Diadora Spinning Gym Shoes - Men's Diadora Spinning Gym Shoes - Men's
Make your favorite spin class even more effective with Diadora's Spinning Gym Shoes, which feature a fit reminiscent of your favorite outdoor shoes paired with a more forgiving sole that's compatible with the two-bolt pedals used on spin bikes. On the days you're late to class and get stuck on a bike far from a fan, the Suprell-Air Mesh uppers with mesh paneling will make sure your feet can breathe during your sweatiest workouts, and with a Boa closure and hook-and-loop strap, your feet won't move around as you shift in the saddle during punishing interval sets. The shoe's outsole is made of EVA, rubber, and a composite-reinforced insert that accommodates a two-bolt cleat in the gym or while you're commuting. You'll have an EVA foam insert and a shaped heel cup to add shape and support to the inside of the shoe, and although you'll still have cleats to contend with, the cushioned outsole makes walking or doing errands after a workout much easier than with a traditional pair of cycling shoes.

Diadora Spinning Herz Shoes - Men's Diadora Spinning Herz Shoes - Men's
If you've been spinning in an old, stretched-out pair of gym shoes, longingly watching your classmates clip-in with ease before a workout, we'd say it's time for an upgrade. Spinning is hard work, and it's even harder when your feet are shifting around between the pedal and the cage, wasting watts with every thumping beat coming out of the speakers. Diadora's Spinning Herz Shoes are a wallet-friendly way to make your spin workouts more efficient -- in class or on your own -- and they come compatible with the SPD 2-bolt cleats most spin bikes use. Diadora uses its Suprell-Buk synthetic uppers with ample mesh paneling on the Herz, which when paired with the lace-up closure, gives them a fit that won't feel radically different from those trainers you've been reluctant to give up. The shaped heel cup and EVA insert work to add shape to the inside of the shoes, while overall, it retains a more sneaker-like fit compared to a slimmer outdoor cycling shoe. By finally being able to clip into your spin bike's pedals, you'll be able to enjoy improved power transfer and comfort during class -- though we can't promise they'll make those punishing interval sets any easier.

Diadora X Trivex Plus II Shoe - Women's Diadora X Trivex Plus II Shoe - Women's
When you get ready to go on a trail ride, you aren't as concerned with having the fastest, most race-ready shoe available, you just want something that's comfortable and will be consistently functional so you can focus on ripping berms and dicing new lines rather than squished toes. Diadora's X Trivex Plus II Women's Shoe fits this description aptly. Sharing a name with its women's road shoe, Diadora's X Trivex Plus II Shoe also shares an affordable price tag with its road sibling, as well as the sleek redesign that much of Diadora's line underwent for 2016. The shoe's synthetic Suprell-Air Mesh upper is supplemented with airy mesh panels and comes complete with the secure, wrap-like fit of Diadora's Morpho Cage upper, ensuring your toes can breathe out on the trails without a sloppy fit. The X Trivex Plus II is built on Diadora's Woman Last, which is constructed to accommodate the generally more dramatic taper into the heel that women's feet often have when compared to men's. The fit is further dialed with Inside Ergonomic Heel Support to help prevent frustrating slippage when you're pushing towards the crux of a tough climb. Along the top of the shoe, two hook-and-loop straps work with a ratcheting buckle to allow you to achieve a secure fit that ensures reliable power transfer without subjecting your feet to pressure points or hot spots. Further contributing to power transfer, the composite-reinforced sole that covers the bottom of the shoe comes prepared to dutifully deliver your hard-earned watts to the pedals. The sole, covered with grippy rubber lugs for traction on treacherous stretches of trail, earns a mountain-appropriate stiffness rating of 6 out of 12 on Diadora's overall stiffness scale.

Diadora X-Phantom II Cycling Shoe - Women's Diadora X-Phantom II Cycling Shoe - Women's
After finally listening to your friends' advice and hitting the trail last year for the first time, you've admitted to them that they were right: mountain biking is a lot of fun. If you're looking for an introductory pair of shoes to accommodate two-bolt cleats, Diadora's X-Phantom II Women's Cycling Shoes make an affordable, versatile option. Diadora X-Phantom II Shoes - Men's Diadora X-Phantom II Shoes - Men's
Any multi-disciplinary cyclist knows that, with all the road/trail/training-specific kit available, expanding your cycling habits can be expensive. If you're looking for a shoe that you can take to spin class during the week then throw on for a road or trail ride on the weekends, Diadora's X-Phantom II Shoe is a worthy option. Inspired by Diadora's higher-end options but retaining a firmly entry-level price, the X-Phantom II's are reliable spin shoes that are durable enough to handle other rides or commutes easily. We like that Diadora chooses to construct this shoe on its Race Plus last -- this forgiving fit, with additional space in the toe box, dispels the reputation cycling shoes have for being tight and constricting. The X-Phantom II's will still feel secure, just without the second-skin contouring that better benefits racers. Synthetic Suprell-Buk Air Mesh wraps around the tops of your feet, providing ample ventilation and breathability for sweaty indoor workouts, and two hook-and-loop straps allow you to easily make fit adjustments from the saddle. Underfoot, Diadora includes its composite-reinforced nylon sole to make power transfer from your feet to the pedals efficient without being unforgiving, and the sole itself is compatible with 2-bolt cleats that pair with spin bikes' default setup or two-bolt outdoor pedals.

Diadora X-Phantom Jr Shoes Diadora X-Phantom Jr Shoes
Your little ripper has somehow managed to crush another pair of mountain bike shoes, and let's face it: having to buy them a new pair so soon is a small concession to make to their burgeoning love of the sport. Diadora's X-Phantom Jr Shoes will see them through miles of blasting over singletrack looking for harder lines and faster descents. The X-Phantom's breathable Suprell-Tech synthetic upper is durable enough to handle kid-caliber abuse, and Diadora punched out ample perforations along it to help keep air moving (and possibly help keep some of their most offensive foot odors at bay). Within the shoe, Diadora included its Morpho AM cage, the same that graces its adult line, to hold small feet in place and ensure all their watts reach the pedals -- a goal that's further helped by the solid composite-reinforced nylon sole. Two hook-and-loop straps along the top allow for quick adjustments pre-ride and from the saddle, and the rugged tread won't slow them down during the times they need to hop off the bike and walk through especially gnarly sections of trail.

Diadora X-Trivex Plus II Shoes - Men's Diadora X-Trivex Plus II Shoes - Men's
With a roomy fit and a palatable price, Diadora's X Trivex Plus II Shoes make a worthwhile addition to your mountain bike kit. Diadora constructs the shoes' uppers with rugged Suprell-Air Mesh, which is a mix of mesh paneling and perforated synthetic fabric that works to keep your feet cool on the trails while retaining its structure to withstand unplanned encounters with the ground. These shoes are also constructed on Diadora's Ride Plus last, with a more forgiving fit in the forefoot than some of its slim, pro-level options. When you're grunting over a rocky crux, the last thing you'd want to feel would be power-sapping slippage in your shoes. Diadora addresses this by including two hook-and-loop straps along with a top ratcheting buckle on the X-Trivex Plus II, enabling you to fine-tune the fit along the top of your foot and make sure it's secure enough for hard pedaling without cutting off circulation in your toes. Underfoot, Diadora's Sport MTB composite-reinforced nylon sole shoulders the responsibility for transferring valuable watts from your legs to the pedals to keep you moving. It won't have the uncompromising rigidity of carbon, but you won't find it bending with the slightest push either. The outsole is also lugged, so you'll be able to hop off your bike and navigate treacherous sections of trail quickly without worrying about sliding around.

Diadora X-vortex Comp II Shoe - Men's Diadora X-vortex Comp II Shoe - Men's
Diadora's X-Vortex Comp II Mountain Bike Shoes offers the privateer racer or anyone wanting a little Italian styling in a shoe, excellent value and performance. The carbon-reinforced Speed MTB KR sole measures 8 out of 12 on the stiffness index, which means they are great for accelerations and pedaling efficiency but have enough flex to keep feet happy over rougher terrain or for the on again, off again nature of cyclocross. The X-Vortex Comps feature the same race fit and Suprell-Tech Morpho AM Cage upper as Diadora's pro-level offerings and as such, the X-Vortex Comp II fits snugly across your foot with any unnecessary hot spots or pinching. The footbed is comprised of an EVA insert that is perforated for breathability and removable, so you can optimize your level of arch support or replace with your favorite insole. The ergonomic heel support keeps them from power robbing slipping and blisters. The closure system incorporates a Boa wire system which we are finding on all higher-end shoes these days along with a single hook-and-loop strap. The Boa wire lets you quickly fine-tune the fit at the top of your shoe, where it's most critical, and the hook-and-loop straps let you adjust the pressure on your mid-foot and metatarsal area. This hybrid approach is effective, efficient, and builds a very handsome set of kicks.

Diadora X-Vortex Comp Shoes - Men's Diadora X-Vortex Comp Shoes - Men's
Refining the connection between your feet and pedals is the best way to get faster without spending a jillion dollars or almost as many hours, so Diadora's X-Vortex Comp Men's Mountain Bike Shoes are a relatively minor investment that'll help take your riding to the next level. The secret's in the Speed MTB KR sole, a carbon-reinforced plate that rates 8. 5 on Diadora's stiffness scale, so it won't let watts go to waste. It won't transfer road vibrations into your feet, either, so you won't feel like you've been riding on a rumble strip after a day of pedaling. Inside, a perforated Hi-Vent EVA insole helps your feet stay cool and supported, and its removable design lets you pop it out to dry or swap it for your own custom insoles.A stiff sole isn't the end-all be-all, though. A shoe has to fit like a glove, and the X-Vortex's Suprell-Tech upper and Morpho AM TPU cage work together to keep your foot locked in place with the perfect combination of stiffness and flexibility. The cage prevents the shoe from deforming under pressure, and an additional Duratech heel support makes sure your heel doesn't slip, which improves fit and reduces the likelihood of blisters. All this tech seals up around your foot via a Boa dial closure and two hook-and-loop straps, so you can fine-tune the fit without having to worry about pinching or pressure points.

Diadora X-Vortex Pro II Shoe - Men's Diadora X-Vortex Pro II Shoe - Men's
Diadora built the Men's X-Vortex Pro II Shoe with one purpose in mind--to tear up trails with ruthless speed and efficiency. Based on the first X-Vortex Pro shoe, this updated version features a sleeker, more stylish upper and upgraded Boa dials for an improved fit. Other than that, it's essentially the same ultra-stiff, race-ready shoe you'd expect from the original. Registering a 10/12 on the stiffness index, its ultra-stiff carbon fiber sole is only out-performed by the Pro Vortex road shoe. That much power transfer means that a lot of the trail would normally come through the pedals and into your feet, but the carbon fiber helps to dissipate vibrations while focusing power into the pedals. The X-Vortex Pro II is for cyclists who put down a lot of power very quickly. The shoe features Diadora's Suprell-Tech Morpho AM Cage technology, which are the same uppers found on the company's top-end road shoe models. They stay tight against your feet without restricting circulation. Inside the upper, the EVA insert is perforated to promote breathability, and it is removable so you can optimize your level of arch support to your own foot shape. In the Pro model, the molded, abrasion-resistant Duratech heel cup is upgraded with a gripping texture to keep your foot from slipping, but it's also removable if your feet demand it. The closure system omits yesterday's hook-and-loop straps in favor of two Boa wires, which are almost mandatory for quality cycling shoes today. The Boa wires let you tune the fit across the top of your foot, where the most pressure is applied to the upper, and over your metatarsal area for different amounts of pressure in each spot. Anyone who's experienced crippling hot spots in the toe box will appreciate this variable approach, as it lets you customize the shoe's fit for firm support and spacious comfort at the same time.

Five Ten District Clipless Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's Five Ten District Clipless Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's
Five Ten knows how life goes for the avid mountain biker stuck working the daily grind. Sometimes (okay, often) we have to hit the trail at the crack of dawn to make sure we get some miles dialed in before work. When you're tired of hearing your boss complain about the trail of mud you're dragging into the office every morning, the Five Ten District Clipless cycling shoes may be the solution you need. Fashion forward style that can pass at work is backed up with a shoe that's durable enough to ride in and super easy to clean up, so you don't have to worry about getting written-up for the mud-trail to your desk. Again. Polyurethane coated leather and synthetic uppers are durable, and hug your foot in for a snug and supportive fit. The polyurethane coating means they shed mud and dirt, and are super easy to clean up should you need to give them a quick wipe off before walking in to work. Non-marking Marathon rubber on the outsole keeps that super tacky rubber we love from marking up the tacky (in a different way) office floor, and 2-bolt cleat mounts mean you can clip in and stay secure on the trail. Designed with pre- and post-work rides in mind, the shoes have a reflective patch on the back to help keep you visible for early morning rides before the sun is out or after work adventures at dusk.

Five Ten Freerider Contact Shoe - Men's Five Ten Freerider Contact Shoe - Men's
If the Freerider Contact Shoes look and feel like an old friend, that's because Five Ten based its design on an updated version of the VXi chassis. The big change from VXi to Contact is the addition of toe protection in the latter the equivalent of ensconcing your little piggies in a brick house instead of just the synthetic leather of the VXi. With this additional armor, the Contact's capabilities encompass a bit more of the DH spectrum while also improving the outcomes of mishandled landings. The sole's flat metatarsal section of Stealth Rubber carries over from the VXi to the Contact, giving you secure grip on flat pedals that still allows you to freely reposition your feet similar to road pedals with a high degree of float. The durable, synthetic uppers and mesh ventilation also return, making for shoes that rock the park, cruise the DH circuit, and clean lines across all manner of all-mountain riding.

Five Ten Freerider ELC Shoe - Men's Five Ten Freerider ELC Shoe - Men's
Five Ten loved what it had going with its original Freerider shoe so much that it decided more riders could benefit from the shoe if it made a few tweaks and changes to the design. More than a few tweaks and changes later, the Freerider line has grown considerably, and the Freerider ELC Men's Shoe was born out of a desire to make a version capable of handling the demands of destructive all-mountain and enduro terrain. To do this, the designers at Five Ten started with the midsole, stiffening it more than the original Freerider into a rigid platform ready to transfer power without wasting hard-earned watts, giving you license to blast through tight and twisty lines and take big hits while maintaining a strong connection to the pedals. On the outside of the shoe, an upper made from a mix of synthetic and leather panels comes complete with a polyurethane coating, giving the Freerider ELC plenty of reinforcement for the times you dump your bike flying around a gravelly switchback. To give the shoe a slim, contoured fit around your foot, Five Ten gave the Freerider a lace-up closure but protected it from mud and debris with a wide hook-and-loop strap that closes over the top. Of course, Five Ten finishes the shoe with its popular non-marking Stealth Phantom rubber outsole and Dotty tread, making sure you'll have some traction during tight sections necessitating quick thinking and walking only.

Five Ten Freerider Elements Shoe - Men's Five Ten Freerider Elements Shoe - Men's
Five Ten's notoriously sticky Stealth 1 rubber is just one component that makes the Freeride Element a top choice for flat-pedal riders. The BMX-inspired Action leather upper, supportive heel cup, and cushy impact protection add to its popularity in lift lines and jump parks. This isn't a glorified skate shoe, it's intended for the abrasion and harsh conditions the gravity crowd demands. The Action leather is double-stitched for durability and placed where pedals, cranks, and trail-side obstacles would send other shoes into early retirement. This construction also gives the Freeride structure, with mesh filling voids to prevent overheating in the summer. The midsoles are semi-stiff to support the foot and prevent hot spots without dulling feedback from your bike. Underneath the midsoles are Five Ten's legendary high-friction Stealth S1 rubber compound and a grippy tread pattern. Stealth S1 isn't just there for the grip, it also adds excellent cushioning and shock absorption.

When everyone else packs up for the season, cleaning their bikes then storing them away in the garage citing cold and wet weather, you grab your Five Ten Freerider EPS Shoes and head out to enjoy crowd-free trails for the first time all year. You know that if you grab some beefy plus-sized tires and stay low and out of the mountains, riding through the colder months doesn't have to be all that difficult--if you have the right gear. Five Ten makes sure your extremities don't miss out on staying warm by sneaking ultralight PrimaLoft insulation along the length of the Freerider EPS' instep and tongue, which creates a lofted layer of insulation next to your feet as they grind it out on the trails. Its Stealth S1 rubber outsole makes another triumphant appearance on the outside of the shoe, giving you its signature sticky grip on slick rocks and rugged hike-a-bike sections of trail. Using just one piece of leather to construct each shoe's upper, Five Ten avoids seaming and limits the amount of water that could soak through the shoe as you're rallying through mud puddles and rain storms. A fully gusseted tongue furthers the cause, and a heat-reflective footbed paired with a cushy, insulated foam liner finish off this capable dirty secret of winter riding.

Five Ten Freerider High Shoe - Men's Five Ten Freerider High Shoe - Men's
When you're staring down a line worthy of your dirt-devouring heroes, you want every part of your kit to be rooting for you. While your kicks may not make as big of a difference towards your overall success through the chunky stuff as say, your fork, they're still pretty important. Before attempting your gnarliest rides this season, swap out your stretched, worn out treads for the Five Ten Freerider High Shoe instead. Inspired by the high-tops popular on the BMX circuit, the Freerider comes with more ankle support than most DH/enduro shoes do, which gives you an extra dose of support and ankle protection when you're rallying over big hits into rock gardens that don't leave room for indecision. Of course, Five Ten also slaps its Stealth S1 rubber outsole onto the Freerider along with its famed Dotty tread, because extra ankle support won't do you any good if your shoe doesn't cling to the pedals when you want it to.

Five Ten Freerider Shoe - Women's Five Ten Freerider Shoe - Women's
The Five Ten Women's Freerider Shoes add subtle styling to technological features made to shred the gnarliest of trails. In a world of neon trimmings and flashy personalities, these shoes are a contrast of muted colors that let your riding skills take center stage. Five Ten's non-marking Stealth Phantom rubber was developed for rock climbing shoes. As such, it has excellent grip, which makes it super easy to keep your feet on the pedals. Just think, no shinburger for dinner... again. It's also super durable, which isn't a surprise since the climbing shoes it was first developed for had to suffer the wear and tear of hard granite cliffs for hours on end. The Freerider Shoes may just have a tougher job. They have to endure the prodding from the metal spikes on your pedals all day, but the Stealth Rubber can take it. Five Ten Stealth Rubber soles will outlast the gum rubber sole on a conventional skate shoe every time and stick better to your pedals. The Women's Freerider Shoes have all the style that you want and the bomber sole that you need to land big tricks without blowing your feet. The uppers are made of brushed leather and mesh panels, and the toe box is reinforced to provide added protection if you lose it in mid-air.

Five Ten Hellcat Shoe - Men's Five Ten Hellcat Shoe - Men's
The Five Ten Hellcat has been the shoe of choice for everyone from world-class enduro racers to weekend warriors for years now, and thankfully, the classic shoe isn't going anywhere. Updated this year with a lighter, more streamlined design, the Hellcat still caters to indecisive riders who might clip in for a mellow day on smooth flow trails, but leave the flats on for burlier days in the desert. It also makes for an ideal first mountain shoe if you have the goal of going clipless someday. When you're staring down a boulder-laced rock garden with white knuckles, the Hellcat's Stealth C4 Dotty sole will stick to your flat pedals cleanly as you sit back and let your suspension get to work, without making you regret leaving your two-bolt pedals at home. The dual-density TPU shaft that runs through three quarters of the sole lends stiffness and stability as you're standing through a descent and delivers reliable power transfer when you reach the bottom of a roller and start digging your way up and over the other side.

Five Ten Hellcat Shoe - Women's Five Ten Hellcat Shoe - Women's
If the thought of having to choose clipless over flats forever leaves you waffling with indecision, don't force yourself to pick one or the other. Grab the Five Ten Hellcat Shoe and start the season with your tried-and-true flat pedals, and its sticky Stealth C4 Dotty rubber will hold on dependably from tacky brown pow to rough and brake-rutted terrain. A beloved Five Ten favorite for years, the Hellcat will also clip in (and out) of clipless pedals with ease as you embrace a mid-summer burst of confidence and swap your beloved flats for two-bolt clipless pedals for a spell. Along the length of the shoe, a dual-density TPU shaft provides healthy doses of both stiffness and flex while you're riding, delivering power to the pedals on a climb, supporting you on a descent, but also yielding enough to let you nimbly step your way through hike-a-bike sections next to stomach-dropping cliffs or car-sized boulders with ease.

Five Ten Impact shoes are designed from to bottom to top to protect and serve freeriders and DH aficionados. The impact is based around Five Ten's legendary Stealth rubber. Stealth is soft and pliable to grip pedals and keep guys on flats on their flats. The tread pattern, a classic dimple pattern, was specifically designed to help with this job. The Impact also employs a stiff midsole shank for pedal power and protection. Five Ten Impact VXi Shoe - Men's Five Ten Impact VXi Shoe - Men's
Five Ten's Impact VXi Shoes set the stage for what a downhill or park shoe should be, and they just keep getting better. From grippy soles to a new upper, the Impacts should be first on your wish list. To up the ante, Five Ten uses Stealth Mi6 rubber for the outsoles -- the same rubber used in climbing shoes. And if it holds onto granite, it's sure to keep your feet firmly adhered to your platform pedals while simultaneously resisting damage from your traction pins. Mi6 Rubber also provides more shock absorption and dampening than other seemingly similar rubbers. Aesthetically, the Impact VXi shoe seems like it's lost a bit of weight, and it has. Nearly 25-percent of its weight has been reduced due to a new upper constructed from a quick-dry hydrophobic fabric. Not only will your feet stay dry from the outside in, the fabric also allows moisture to escape to keep perspiration from soaking the liner.

Five Ten Kestrel Clipless Shoes - Men's Five Ten Kestrel Clipless Shoes - Men's
If the torpedo-faced profile of Five Ten's Kestrel Clipless Shoes reminds you of a shark's nose, then you're being pointed in the right direction. With a combination of a durable upper and what Five Ten claims is its stiffest sole, the Kestrel certainly hits rock bench-laden climbs and root lattices with all the voracity of an all-mountain land shark. The enduro heart of the Kestrel is actually a spine: a carbon-infused shank spanning the midfoot in the shoe's sole that serves as a conductor to direct power more efficiently into the pedals. More efficiency equals more speed equals more time to either line-up another run or get the first choice of beverages from the cooler at the trailhead. The stiff spine is housed in an outsole comprising two different compounds. The first, Stealth C4, is hard enough for rock climbing. In fact, it was developed for rock climbing, but Five Ten imports it to the cycling world by ringing the Kestrel's cleat mount with the stuff. The same material that, according to Five Ten, rendered the "world's hardest rock climbs" climbable by dint of its unyielding strength shows up on the Kestrel to make sure there's no watt-wasting outsole squish where rubber meets pedal. The other compound, Stealth Mi6, is a softer, tackier compound that dissipates impacts while navigating the lumpy ups and downs of enduro cycling and provides grip while scrambling across un-rideable talus slopes and rock walls. The Kestrels are finished with a synthetic toe box mated to a mesh upper, with the former providing structure and protection while the latter keeps the heat down when the trail and temperature both go up. Gusseted stop gaps also bridge the distance between tongue and upper, so enterprising gravel and goat heads will find it that much harder to get in and get irritating. The whole thing is strapped down with a Boa IP1 wire buckle, something we're used to seeing on high-end road shoes and more than happy to welcome to our off-road wardrobe.

Live out your enduro dreams and power down the course in the Five Ten Men's Kestrel Lace-Up Shoes. The Lace-Ups trade out the carbon-infused shank of their top-end sibling for a nylon shank that provides a bit more give for ease of walkability while still providing efficient power transfer. The shank is housed in an outsole comprising two different compounds. The first, Stealth C4, is hard enough for rock climbing. In fact, it was developed for rock climbing, but Five Ten imports it to the cycling world to make sure there's no watt-wasting outsole squish where rubber meets pedal. The other compound is softer and tackier. It dissipates impact while navigating the lumpy ups and downs of enduro and provides grip while scrambling across un-rideable talus slopes and rock walls. Five Ten Kestrel Lace-Up Shoe - Women's Five Ten Kestrel Lace-Up Shoe - Women's
Like your favorite easy-going, life-loving sister and her equally laid back hubby, the dirt-loving designers over at Five Ten decided their original Kestrel shoe was so much fun that they couldn't stop at just one. As a result, you now have nine nieces and nephews, and plenty of options to choose from when you're upgrading your biking shoes for the season. Just like your sister said she'd do better the second or third time around, Kestrel made a few changes and tweaks along the way that led to the creation of the Kestrel Lace-Up Women's Shoe. Designed for hard-charging all-mountain/enduro gals, the Kestrel Lace-Up aims to provide a more supportive, contoured fit around your foot than its older sibling with its lace-up closure, hook-and-loop strap, and non-slip heel cup. Kestrel also chose a nylon-reinforced EVA midsole to achieve more flex along the bottom of the shoe, and it designed the Stealth C4 rubber outsole with a wide cleat interface to make it easy to snap in and out of the pedals quickly on technical terrain. The Kestrel Lace-Up's uppers are PU-coated synthetic, so they won't crack or rip at the first spill you take on a loose, scree-filled section of trail.

When you and your go-anywhere trail bike head out for a day of quality one-on-one time, you don't place any limits on where the day might take you. Enter Five Ten's versatile Maltese Falcon Shoe. If you and your machine happen to discover miles of tacky singletrack begging to be torn up, you'll want a shoe you can slam into the pedals and not think about again as you sweep through corners and rally over rollers. Then again, if the day's adventures find you pedaling over rocky cruxes then hopping off your bike to escort it along the side of a serious cliff, the lightest, most speed-focused shoe on the market won't help you much. Five Ten strikes an admirable balance with the Maltese, whose name suggests that--like the plot of a certain classic novel--there's more going on than meets the eye. Regardless, the shoe's sleek leather uppers and simple, effective design make it a trustworthy companion on fast rides and technical days alike. Five Ten designed the lug pattern on the rubber sole to make clipping in and out quick and easy and give you grip on treacherous sections of trail. It's got a soft EVA midsole for cushioning as well as a combination lace-up and hook-and-loop closure to allow you to customize the fit of the shoe, ensuring security without undue restriction. Giro Code Techlace Shoe - Men's Giro Code Techlace Shoe - Men's
Giro footwear is famous for fit and comfort, and the Code Techlace Shoe is no exception. Giro crafts a race-bred shoe for riders who want efficient power transfer without sacrificing durability on rugged trails and harsh conditions. First launched on its road shoes, the revolutionary Techlace system comes to dirt, combining the comfort of laces with the convenience of a strap for dialing in a near-custom fit with easy adjustments on-the-fly. By replacing D-rings and other hardware with laces, the Techlace system provides a better fit across the forefoot and as a bonus, the laces can be easily replaced if damaged. Improving upon the adjustability of the two-strap system, Giro partnered with Boa offering precise adjustments and a secure feeling at the top of the instep using its L6 dial, providing adjustment in 1mm increments when tightening. The upper features its proprietary one-piece Evofiber microfiber for a superb fit that conforms to your foot and doesn't stretch over time. Perforations provide adequate ventilation when the mercury rises. An adjustable SuperNatural Fit Kit allows custom-tuning of the insole with 3 different arch support inserts. The Easton EC70 carbon composite sole offers pro-level stiffness that remains comfortable on hike-a-bike sections and running between the barriers. A low, 6. 5mm stack height reduces the amount of material between foot and pedal for efficient power transfer and quick clip ins. The sole is finished with a tough and grippy Vibram rubber outsole that provides protection and traction anytime you're not clipped in. Each shoe also includes fittings for two toe spikes for extra traction when you really need to dig in.

On your next XC or trail ride, the Code's pressure-reducing middle strap will allow you to fine-tune the shoe's security, ensuring you don't end up with tingling toes halfway through a series of switchbacks. Plus, the Evofiber fabric that Giro constructs the shoe with is breathable and malleable, so it'll conform to the lumps and bumps of your feet while allowing for airflow on sunny, exposed singletrack. Giro Code VR70 Shoes Giro Code VR70 Shoes
If you're anything like us, your "mountain" shoes quickly take over as your 'cross shoes, then your "gravel" shoes, and then, finally, your road shoes. Sure, there are benefits to a road-specific shoe, but as more and more of us use our road bikes on less and less well-maintained roads, a shoe with a little bit of tread on the bottom is nice to have. The Giro Code VR70s are ideal for this slow takeover of two-hole cleats. At their base is an EC70 sole with Vibram (yes, that Vibram) tread over it. You get the best of both worlds: a shoe that's stiff and transfers power very well, and a shoe that allows you to walk around a bit without destroying your cleats, or slipping on rocks. They close with a classic buckle/hook-and-loop strap combo, and are quite easy to adjust on the fly. Giro's also included the SuperNatural Fit Kit, an insole system designed to help you get the best fit possible from your shoes.

Giro Empire VR90 Limited Edition Camo Cycling Shoe - Men's Giro Empire VR90 Limited Edition Camo Cycling Shoe - Men's
Giro's Empire VR90 Limited Edition Cycling Shoes have us tripping. Not because of the pro-level carbon soles, the signature lace-up closure, or even the special edition colorway, which Giro credits to the influence of a dorm room lava lamp. The really trippy part of these shoes is that, in low-light situations, the black field of the camo transforms into a brightly reflective surface, adding an additional eye-catching element to the already loud orange. Though the shoes are more about getting down on gravel and XC races, the added element of safety is always appreciated when traversing B roads at dusk. Despite the reimagined aesthetics, the functional aspects of the Limited Edition remain unchanged from the standard VR90. Underfoot--and most importantly--Giro incorporates the same Easton EC90 carbon fiber sole featured on the Empire's road race version. It's got a low, 6. 5mm stack height that reduces the amount of intervening material between engine and pedal for fast, efficient power transfer regardless of terrain. Hardcore 'cross traditionalists may balk at that stiffness as it historically made running a difficult endeavor, but rest assured that Giro is on it. The Vibram Mont rubber lugged outsole is rockered to facilitate easy walkability and a natural running feel, so the sole won't make you literally trip. This lets you harness the watts of that super stiff sole while punching off the line and out of corners without sacrificing speed or comfort when you're shouldering the bike. In our book, that makes the VR90 a little bit of a unicorn. In addition to its rockering, the lugged sole provides grippy purchase for hard-packed dismounts, quad-searing run-ups, and rocky trail scrambles. If you do happen to miss a clip-in, Giro's added a Mid-Foot Scuff Guard with a grippy, rubber surface to rest against your pedal so you can keep moving forward and stay with your group. Giro Empire VR90 Shoe Giro Empire VR90 Shoe
One look at the Giro Empire VR90 and you know something's different. Giro's use of laces on a top-end XC shoe sets them apart from the rest of the laces-wearing mountain bike clan by at least a couple inches of suspension travel. At the base of the Empires is an Easton carbon fiber EC90 sole -- the stiffest and lightest in Easton's impressive lineup of carbon fiber. Vibram's sturdy and grippy Mont outsole is then layered over the carbon, both to give you a bit more walkability in the shoes, but also to protect the carbon. Bonded to the Vibram/Easton combo at the sole is a one piece microfiber upper that's incredibly breathable and comfortable, but won't stretch out over time, ensuring you get the same fit throughout the life of the shoe. Giro's lauded SuperNatural Fit Kit insoles are also included. These insoles include three different inserts for low, medium, and high arches, and they're among the best we've ridden without going full-custom.

Giro Empire VR90 Shoe - Women's Giro Empire VR90 Shoe - Women's
You may spend the majority of your ride time on singletrack, but unlike a lot of your fellow dirt hounds, you're riding for time on both the up and the down. Whether the speed and technique required on the 'cross circuit keeps you training every night after work, or you prefer the speed of XC, trust the Giro Women's Empire W VR90 Shoe to deliver power to the pedals times and time again. The Empire's elegant silhouette has been beyond reproach, in our minds, since Giro first introduced it, and the VR90 continues the legacy of clean lines and impeccable fit, adapted to the rigors of trail life. Giro crafts each VR90 with an entirely one-piece Teijin microfiber upper, eliminating stitching, seaming, and overlays to leave you with lightweight support around the rolling contours of your feet. More breathable and weather-resistant than leather, synthetic Teijin microfiber molds around your feet much like its natural cousin. Use the lace-up design to make infinite adjustments in width and tightness along the length of your toes and instep to achieve a secure fit without the burden of hot spots distracting you from flyovers and technical rock gardens. When you're throwing all of your energy into the pedals to keep speed heading into a grueling climb, count on the Easton EC90 carbon fiber outsole to consistently deliver your watts to the pedals each time you turn them. The soles accommodate spikes for added traction on slick, muddy race days, and Giro subtly adds Vibram rubber lugs to the bottoms to make sure you can run your bike through sand pits as confidently as you ride it. Underneath your arch, Giro's Super Natural Fit kit gives you the option to swap out arch support until you find what's right for you, ensuring your foot's mechanics don't hinder your ride from inside your shoe.

Giro Grinduro Code Techlace Limited Edition Shoes Giro Grinduro Code Techlace Limited Edition Shoes
The two-day Grinduro held in Europe on the Isle of Arran in Scotland and the US version in Quincy, CA is a cracking good time. If you are every able to attend, do so, you won't be disappointed! Relive the ride every time you put your shoes on, or put a little step in your training getting you ready for next year's event with the Grinduro Code Techlace Limited Edition Shoes. These kicks are built to stand up to rugged trail conditions while offering great power transfer in the process. This durable shoe doesn't sacrifice comfort and offers an excellent feel across the forefoot thanks to Giro's Techlace fit system. Rather than hard D-rings and broad hook-and-loop straps that lay across your forefoot, laces are used offering a near custom fit and lightweight performance. If you happen to wear out the laces or if they're damaged in a crash, they can be easily replaced. The closure on the upper consists of a Boa L6 dialing in the fit. The Boa offers fast, 1mm adjustments on the fly by simply turning the dial forward and a macro release by pulling up on the dial. Giro constructs the upper from its proprietary Evofiber material which is supple, conforming to your foot while it resists stretching and holds up to abrasion and anything else you or the trails can dish out. Getting the power to the pedals is the ultra-lightweight and stiff Easton EC70 carbon composite sole. At a thin 6. 5mm, it puts your foot right over the pedal for efficiency. It's topped with a Vibram rubber outsole helping to provide grip and traction while your scrambling up a water bar ridden uphill or dismounting for a limestone run up. If conditions get really muddy, the shoes include toe spikes for really digging in. Finishing up these shoes are Giro's SuperNatural Fit Kit insoles that provide three adjustable arch supports for fine-tuning the fit for different types of feet. The Giro Grinduro Code Techlace Shoes weigh in at lightweight 345 grams, in a size 42. 5, and are offered in sizes 39-48. T...

Giro Privateer R Shoe - Men's Giro Privateer R Shoe - Men's
The Giro Privateer R Men's Shoe fulfills the duty of hardworking trail blazer within Giro's line, offering the rugged durability, micro-adjustable fit, and grippy traction desired by singletrack connoisseurs. Functional updates improve the shoe's traction when you're forced to dismount and hike over unruly stretches of trail. Most notably, the previous sole featured harder lugs that felt slippery across slick rocks, roots, and steep inclines. Completely overhauled, the redesigned sole uses high-traction rubber lugs that are much softer, so you'll have no trouble gripping onto a variety of terrain features in the forest, desert, and mountains. The remainder of the shoe stay's true to the original Privateer, and that's a good thing if you're seeking a well-rounded performer that eagerly accompanies you on singletrack adventures and weekend races. Plenty stiff without being unrelenting like a race-specific shoe, the co-molded nylon sole efficiently harnesses your power into forward locomotion. And for racers dismounting on mucky courses, the sole accepts toe spikes that prevent slipping on mud and wet ground. Along the shoe's upper, supple microfiber wraps your feet in cloud-nine comfort, with perforations throughout for ventilation. Two hook-and-loop straps secure tightly, with the mid-foot strap offset to relieve pressure points. The upper strap sports a micro-adjustable buckle that prevents heel lift for greater pedaling efficiency. As a fresh-wearing bonus, the shoe's interior benefits from Aegis antimicrobial, which keeps funky odors from taking residence.

Giro Riela RII Shoe - Women's Giro Riela RII Shoe - Women's
Hit the trails for a day of rolling singletrack or push it even further to full-blown backcountry adventure in the Giro Riela RII Shoes for women. Built with tough uppers, rugged outsoles, and footbeds that keep you comfortable from first to last mile, the Riela RII's are hungry for the trail, and with Giro's sleek styling, you don't have to stress hitting the brewery for a post ride pale ale with the ladies. The Riela RII uses the same over all construction as her predecessor, the Riela R, with three hook-and-loop straps securing your foot in, and microfiber uppers, but those of us who get a wicked case of hot-foot on most rides get a big win with the addition of large mesh panels along the toe box and lateral portions of the shoes. The microfiber still uses perforations, just as it used to, to help with venting, but the added mesh aids in moisture transfer, helping your feet stay cool and comfortable all day long. A comfortable EVA footbed gives you the support you need inside of the shoe to stay comfortable, and underneath, a nylon injected outsole stiffens things up, so you don't waste your energy on a shoe flexing under your pedal stroke, and instead transfer that power directly to the bike. The outsole is also topped off with hearty portions of rubber lugs that add traction to the shoe, so when you have to make your way through river beds or up steep, rocky faces, you'll have the grip you need to do it safely. To cap it off, there is a large recessed cleat pad underneath your foot, so you have plenty of room to lock in any 2-bolt mountain cleat, so you can clip into your favorite pedals and ride off into the sunset.

Giro Terradura Mountain Shoes - Women's Giro Terradura Mountain Shoes - Women's
The Giro Terradura Women's Mountain Shoes strike the perfect balance between super stiff-soled shoes that transfer all the power but aren't great for walking and soft-soled shoes that walk well but feel squishy on the pedals. Giro uses a strong and durable nylon shank that's stiff enough to get down the trail fast and just flexible enough to keep your heels in your shoes when hiking your bike up a steep incline. A Vibram lugged outsole also grips rocks and other obstacles that you come across on the trails better than shoes that come outfitted with plastic lugs. Even with all that attention to the outsole, Giro didn't ignore fit. The Terradura's upper is designed to fit a narrower foot, with a ratcheting buckle and two hook-and-look closures for a comfy and secure fit. Perforations in the microfiber upper let feet breathe, and toe box reinforcement provides durable impact protection.

Giro Terraduro HV Shoes - Men's Giro Terraduro HV Shoes - Men's
Your MTB shoes could have the best cushioning, incredible traction, and a lightweight design, but if they don't fit your feet, you're going to hate them, at best. At worst, an ill-fitting set of kicks will ruin a weekend of riding in Moab or Bend, leaving you standing forlornly at the trailhead while your friends pedal away. Instead of risking that, house your wider-than-average feet in the Giro Men's Terraduro HV Shoes and enjoy a responsive shoe that fits your foot as well as it transfers power. HV, in this case, refers to High Volume. Revel in the extra space your instep will enjoy on each ride with the Terraduro HV, and pedal without tingling or numbness interrupting your rhythm on the up or the down. As you sweat it out on a long, winding climb, perforated uppers maintain airflow, while rugged Vibram outsoles keep you moving as you step over fallen trees. When speed's your goal, the rigid sole delivers your hard-won watts towards the pedals in a way befitting a true XC shoe.

Giro Terraduro Mid Shoe - Men's Giro Terraduro Mid Shoe - Men's
Giro treated its Terraduro shoe to a serious upgrade this year, unveiling the all-new Terraduro Mid Shoe as its first ever lace option for the off-road set. With a nearly custom fit delivered by the lace-up closure, the Terraduro is rugged enough for rowdy all-mountain and enduro days, without an ounce of extra bulk. From the beginning of the season to the last weeks, the Terraduro will help you squeeze all the ride days out of the summer and fall that you can. When constructing the Terraduro's uppers, Giro trusted its Evofiber microfiber to establish a flexible fit that would adapt to a variety of foot shapes. Ample perforations ensure heat doesn't get trapped when you're working hard on a misty, humid day, and a water-resistant lace cover protects your laces from tree branches and rocks while sealing out rain. Giro went all-in with water-resistance on the Terraduro; it added a shield to the cleat area to stop water from soaking through the bottom of the shoe, and a water-resistant Ariaprene ankle cover to block out loose gravel, scree, and rain. The lugged Vibram sole comes prepared to charge through tough hike-only sections of trail, while the XC-inspired nylon sole maintains reliable power transfer through uphill grinds and well-deserved descents.

Ion Rascal Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's Ion Rascal Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's
The Ion Rascal Mountain Bike Shoe is for those ready to charge over the whole mountain, who want the support and pedaling efficiency of a clipless shoe, with the look and tread of a flat. Built with SupTraction, the Rascal offers more than power transmission onto your pedal, it's designed to combine stiffness, lateral flex, and torsional control to prevent your foot from tilting on the pedal. The tread is constructed with specific zones for pedaling and hiking, ensuring the most control on the bike, and grip when you have to climb a bit. The Rascal is constructed with a synthetic leather upper, and like its sibling, the Raid, it uses a lace up closure, however the Rascal is also reinforced with the SerpenTie hook and loop strap that helps you cinch down the upper with the perfect amount of support across your foot. The sides of the upper feature JetStream laser cut ventillation, to keep you from getting hot-foot, and mesh across the toe box. The toes are reinforced twice for ultimate protection and durability; they first see a burly strap of rubber across the front, for protection from impacts against big rocks and roots, and a secondary reinforcement strap with no-sew construction to protect from abrasion. Speaking of reinforcements, the ankle also features a hit of padding on the inside, so you're protected from unwieldy crank arms or your frame, in the event of a crash.

Lake MXZ303 Winter Boots - Wide - Men's Lake MXZ303 Winter Boots - Wide - Men's
To our knowledge, no one has yet ridden a bike across the poles, but the first person to do it will probably be wearing the Lake MXZ303 Wide Men's Winter Boots. The boots' most important feature might also be the simplest: they're built on an exceptionally wide last, which both accommodates wide feet and provides the possibility of serious layering, all the better to survive those perilous Twin Cities winter commutes and winter bikepacking epics. The MXZ303 doesn't rely solely on layering to provide warmth, though. The heel and tongue are lined with Outlast heat-reflective technology, which reflects heat back at the foot instead of letting it escape through the tough Pittards leather upper. There's also 3M Thinsulate insulation in the toe box and Thermosol in the insole, so your feet are protected from the frigid outdoors from all angles. The boots are finished with a neoprene cuff that cinches down and wind- and waterproof flaps at the ankle and forefoot to keep Mother Nature's most punishing incursions at bay. Underneath it all, the rugged Vibram sole provides grip when the drifts get too deep to pedal and protects your cleats from unnecessary damage.

Lake MXZ400 Winter Cycling Boot - Men's Lake MXZ400 Winter Cycling Boot - Men's
The MXZ400 Men's Winter Cycling Boot is far and away the most wintery boot Lake produces. It's built-up to stand-up to the elements, and its moto-appropriate size hints at its 400g of 3M Thinsulate and generously capacious last, which allows for more insulation in the form of thick sock layering. The last is built to accommodate walking and pedaling, and its wrapped in a layer of Pittards WR100 for water-resistant breathability. That list alone is impressive enough to warrant the MXZ400's status as the greatest Lake of the winter cycling world, but the real magic is the inclusion of Outlast SmartFabric Technology. Outlast incorporates capsules of a phase-change material that shifts between a solid and a liquid state depending on conditions. This act of alchemy has the effect of either absorbing heat or releasing it, so Outlast serves as a smart solution to varying conditions on the bike by actively keeping warming or cooling your feet. The boots are finished with some hardcore winter details, including some armor in the form of Helcor paneling in order to protection the Pittards from the scuffs of bikepacking life. The extended cuff is also an obvious winter superstar, and it fastens with its own dedicated Boa dial so you can batten down the hatches against winter aggression. The rubber outsole sits wide to generate additional traction in slick conditions, and it's equipped with ice grip inserts in order to ensure that it does the job.

Louis Garneau Granite Louis Garneau Granite
While all of us would prefer to spend all day on the trails, that's not an option most of the time. For the rare, glorious weekend days when you have nowhere else to be but on your mountain bike, the last thing you want sending you home early is cranky feet. Louis Garneau designed its Granite shoes for the long days -- whether you're hammering through rock gardens and over cruxes or keeping it relaxed along ribbons of singletrack, the Granite was created with comfort in mind. The Granite's seamless, thermos-bonded uppers go a long way towards keeping your feet comfortable. With the absence of stitching and seaming, the shoes have a more open fit, giving your feet more room to breathe on hot days and lessening the chance of pressure points. Garneau also adds ample ventilation in the form of mesh panels along the synthetic leather uppers, so you'll get plenty of moisture-wicking airflow as you ride, and the included Hot Stuff insoles are also heavily ventilated for as much airflow as possible. While the shoes' uppers feel open and forgiving, the Boa dial and hook-and-loop strap work with a heel retention system to ensure the Granite fits securely around your foot, reducing power lost to slippage during your pedal stroke. Underfoot, Garneau's Ergo Grip 2 outsole will dutifully transfer power from your legs to the pedals as you tackle long climbs, and the aggressive lugs won't leave you sliding around on technical spots when you need to hop off your bike. While you won't be able to get away with never clearing them of mud, Garneau did design the outsoles with mud clearing in mind, and they're compatible with removable studs for the days when you need extra traction.

Louis Garneau Graphite Cycling Shoe - Men's Louis Garneau Graphite Cycling Shoe - Men's
Whether you're finalizing dates for your full 'cross race calendar or prefer to spend your rides roosting berms and charging through white-knuckle descents, Louis Garneau's Graphite Men's Cycling Shoe is equipped to let you get the most out of the power you're driving through your feet while keeping you comfortable throughout an aggressive riding and racing schedule. The Graphite occupies the upper tier of Garneau's mountain offerings, sitting just below its top-of-the-line T-Flex 2LS. It features the same carbon sole and many of the same fit details, but trades wire dials for three lightweight hook-and-loop straps. Along the upper of the Graphite, Garneau forgoes all traditional seaming, choosing to thermobond the necessary seams for a more flexible, breathable upper that's less likely to chafe. Perforations throughout the upper promote air flow and ventilation, while the HRS-100 nylon heel piece maintains rigidity along the Achilles tendon to prevent heel slippage and lost power on climbs. Within the shoe, a Coolmax Hot Stuff insole comes with three separate arch pieces that allow you to customize the amount of support the shoes provide along the arch, depending on the shape of your foot. The somewhat-contradictory Carbon T-FLEX moniker Garneau gives to the outsole of the Graphite refers to the toe piece's ability to flex under pressure, while the rest of the sole remains completely rigid. Garneau does this with its high-end models to make navigating tough sections of trail on foot easier and to prevent excessive heel pressure, so you get responsive power transfer, adapted to the demands of the trails.

Louis Garneau Klondike Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's Louis Garneau Klondike Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's
If you're into the kind of winter bikepacking and dark-side-of-the-moon-cold commuting that warrants the protection of Louis Garneau's Klondike Mountain Bike Shoe for Men, then you probably already understand that cycling in these temperatures is only possible when myriad details align. Fair weather cycling is easy, because you may be a little under- or overdressed, but the temperate conditions mean the worst you'll experience is some slight discomfort. But when the temperature falls, the stakes rise dramatically. The Klondike rises with them, though, as its primary material is a water- and wind-resistant 1680-denier Cordura nylon. While it's not waterproof, it is equal to almost anything shy of riding your bike into a lake, and if you do that in winter, you've got bigger problems to worry about. The neoprene cuff, of course, is waterproof, and it's accompanied by silicone elastic. Battening down the hatches with the zip fly and hook-and-loop closure all but guarantees the elements won't be able to find any weak spots in your winter armor. While Cordura and neoprene keep the outside out, 400g of 3M's Thinsulate insulation helps keep the inside in. This specifically relates to warmth, though, as the insulation's breathable qualities let moisture vapor escape as your microclimate warms up, and even if the Thinsulate does somehow get damp, it shares wool's ability to maintain warmth in the presence of moisture. The theme of insulation continues to the insole, which is reinforced with three layers of body warmth preservation to block the chill emanating from the frozen road or trail. Despite the obvious focus on warmth and weather-protection, the Klondike is still a cycling shoe and Louis Garneau is still one of the biggest names in cycling gear. Given those two facts, it's hardly a surprise that the Klondike's Vibram outsole balances winter functionality with pedal compatibility. The BOA IP1 dial is also a saddle-friendly addition that any winter cyclist will rec...

Louis Garneau Mica Shoes - Women's Louis Garneau Mica Shoes - Women's
Louis Garneau created the women's Mica Mountain Bike Shoes as a dependable option for riders who don't want to sacrifice solid pedaling for affordability. They occupy a middle position between Garneau's pricier pro-level models and its entry-level shoes, with the comfort and support you'll want for long days of roosting berms and dizzying descents. One of our favorite features of the Mica is its entirely seamless upper, a trickle-down feature from higher end models that eliminates bulky stitched seaming in favor of smooth, bonded seams that are far less prone to causing irritation. The synthetic leather is paired with mesh paneling to keep air moving through the shoes, resulting in a breathable fit that won't weigh you down on the trails. When you're putting your shoes on before a ride, two hook-and-loop straps and a ratcheting buckle allow for quick, easy fit adjustments. The straps are also arranged asymmetrically to provide a more wrapped fit around your foot -- specifically at the slippage-prone heel area, which also receives some targeted contouring to add security from the inside out. Garneau includes its nylon Ergo Grip 2 outsole to transfer power from your legs to the pedals, and a host of lugs help to ensure you can reliably navigate especially technical sections of trail off the bike.

Louis Garneau Onyx Shoe - Men's Louis Garneau Onyx Shoe - Men's
Comprised of timed downhill stages across hyper-technical terrain, yet still requiring riders to pedal or hike between timed stages, enduro racing is its own distinctive beast, especially compared to its downhill and cross-country brethren. Catering to these distinctive needs, the Men's Onyx Shoe represents Louis Garneau's foray into the world of enduro racing and all-mountain riding. Immediately noticeable, the Onyx's rugged Vibram sole efficiently transfers rider energy into forward momentum, all while allowing riders to tread across hike-a-bike sections with sure-footed confidence. The hybrid lacing system combines a traditional forefoot strap with Boa's IP1-S dial, which provides two-way micro-adjustments along the upper. LG employs their HRS-90 heel retention with a non-slip membrane, preventing heel slip from sapping power output. This heightened level of adjustment and non-slip fit is crucial for competitive enduro racers and all-mountain riders seeking the best of support and pedaling power. It's crafted from a synthetic leather upper for durability when you're thrashing them throughout the racing and riding season. Inside the shoe, LG's Power Zone ensures optimal arch support, so you can pedal hard without cramping or painful hot spots. It's a bit roomier than race-specific shoes in Louis Garneau's line, meaning you'll experience greater comfort than what you'd find with a cross-country shoe. This is essential for multi-hour affairs where you'll be doing a mix of riding and hiking, especially across steep, mountainous terrain.

Louis Garneau Sapphire Mountain Shoes - Women's Louis Garneau Sapphire Mountain Shoes - Women's
While we wouldn't recommend them for competitive endurance racers, the Louis Garneau women's Sapphire Shoes are more than capable of shuttling recreational mountain bikers and roadies looking to dip their toes into the trail or CX scene for some off-season cross training. The synthetic upper, mesh ventilation, and hook-and-loop straps are general across LG's road and mountain lines, but the lugged, Ergo Grip II outsole with removable studs is native only to the latter. The shoes are finished with an HRS-80 heel cup design, which keeps the foot anchored while cleaning rocky pitches.

As the final piece of your cold-weather kit, they'll help you stay warm and dry, even if you're riding through the gnarliest, coldest conditions. A water-resistant zippered cover adds an extra layer of protection, while a fully waterproof Gore-Tex membrane keeps your foot completely dry without allowing sweat to accumulate. Since you can lock-out your dual-suspension trail bike and keep up with the Lycra crowd on XC courses, you want your shoes to be able to switch between disciplines effortlessly too, and we don't blame you. Mavic agrees, and its versatile Crossride SL Elite Men's Wide Shoes are the brand's bestselling for good reason. Plus, they're available in a wide width too, so you can wear a shoe that's sized correctly for your foot shape. Mavic trusts a traditional seamed upper construction complete with airy mesh paneling throughout to provide a mix of durability and breathability when you're on the trails. The upper is secured by an Ergo Ratchet backed up by two hook-and-loop straps to ensure you're able to achieve a secure, slim fit across the top of your foot. Securing the foot goes beyond comfort, though, as reducing slopping slippage also increases power transfer efficiency. Addressing power transfer more directly, Mavic adds an Energy Grip Terra outsole for a firm, responsive platform on which to deliver watts to the pedals. For moments when pedaling isn't an option, the sole is finished with a Contagrip surface to provide you with grip on the days you hop off your bike to walk through a treacherous section of trail. Mavic Crossride SL Elite Cycling Shoes - Women's Mavic Crossride SL Elite Cycling Shoes - Women's
Cross-country shoes have a tough niche to fill. They echo the sentiments of the discipline as a whole by placing higher value on speed than stability and grip, but if speed were all that mattered, XC riders would just race in road shoes. Mavic's Crossride SL Elite Women's Cycling Shoes blend the lightness of a road shoe with the grip of a trail-specific shoe to provide you with the snappy power transfer you need to keep spinning the pedals quickly--all without being flimsy when the singletrack takes a turn from buttery towards rough. Mavic trusts a traditional upper design for the Crossride SL Elites, equipping them to be durable enough to withstand brushes with trail furniture while adding airy mesh paneling to ensure they remain breathable. Two hook-and-loop straps work with an Ergo Ratchet buckle to allow you to achieve a secure fit that ensures reliable power transfer without creating pressure points along the top of your foot, while an Ergo Fit 3D Ortholite insole provides cushioning along the bottom of your foot to keep you comfortable on longer rides. When you're pedaling, the fiberglass-reinforced nylon Energy Grip Terra Outsole delivers your valuable watts efficiently to the pedals, while its Contagrip rubber lugs give you the confidence to venture off the XC race course and onto the trails, providing traction during sticky situations or impromptu detours to take in hard-won views.

Mavic Deemax Pro Shoe - Men's Mavic Deemax Pro Shoe - Men's
The Deemax Pro Men's Shoe occupies the top of Mavic's all-mountain hill, incorporating all of the technologies introduced sporadically throughout the rest of the brand's enduro line. There are certainly lighter, flashier shoes in the French giant's arsenal, but for all-day comfort and--perhaps more importantly--protection through rock gardens, root lattices, and the occasional over-cooked berm, the Deemax Pro carries the standard. On the outside, the Deemax Pro is all about unyielding resistance. From the reinforced fore and aft portions to the extended inner ankle, the shoes are built to absorb abuse from trail furniture. The sole is equally as unyielding, with Mavic's new Energy Grip AM Outsole providing grip on slick granite and stiffness on flat pedals. The sole ranks a 60 on Mavic's power transfer scale, placing it just below the decidedly less burly Crossmax Pro model. Inside, all of that bluster and burl turns to comfort, with Mavic incorporating padding throughout to help disperse impacts. Finally, a note on fit: In a rare move for a manufacturer, Mavic willingly calls out that the Deemax Pro fits smaller than usual, so the brand recommends that "you choose a size above your usual size."

Designers at Mavic built the XA Pro H2O GTX shoes to fit wide, with room to accommodate a thick winter sock, so you don't have to size up when the mercury drops and thicker layers are necessary. Pearl Izumi X-Alp Launch II Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's Pearl Izumi X-Alp Launch II Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's
Having a shoe that works with you as you transition over from riding with flat pedals to clipless can make life a lot easier. Rather than having to abandon your favorite broken-in flat shoes and get used to a stiff pair of clipless-compatible ones while you also try to navigate being attached to your pedals, we'd recommend starting with the Pearl Izumi Men's X-Alp Launch II Mountain Bike Shoe. Functioning clipless or with flats, the mid-range X-Alp Launch II comes with a price that's palatable to beginners or veteran weekend warriors alike, as well as a construction that will adapt with you as you improve your skills. The shoe's bonded, seamless uppers establish a flexible fit, able to adapt to a wide range of foot shapes without compromising the durability of traditional seaming. We're a fan of Pearl's decision to combine a single BOA dial with a hook-and-loop strap; it gives you the opportunity to customize the fit of the shoe around your instep and toes separately, so you're less likely to develop pressure points and hot spots when you're busy muscling through a tough climb. Underneath your foot, a light, cushioned EVA midsole helps your feet stay comfortable all day when you're hopping on and off your bike to grab lunch or snap a picture of the scenery. Within the midsole, a carbon-reinforced composite shank maintains snappy power transfer when you need it, and carbon rubber lugs along the outsole provide traction for those few times (ahem) when you need to jump off your bike and walk an impossibly steep hill or gnarly rock garden.

Pearl Izumi X-Project Elite Mountain Bike Shoe - Women's Pearl Izumi X-Project Elite Mountain Bike Shoe - Women's
Mountain bike shoes often have to sacrifice on something. To be comfortable for all-day wear, they lose snappiness, but to be responsive on the XC course, they often give up traction on more technical hike-a-bike sections. If you've been getting around this by keeping multiple pairs of shoes in your garage, let us offer an alternative. The Pearl Izumi Women's X-Project Elite Mountain Bike Shoe comes with the lightness of an XC race shoe, and the attitude of a trail shoe that wants to go out adventuring on after your race is over. A carbon fiber sole, Boa dial closure, and barely there synthetic uppers give it its race-ready XC pedigree, but underneath, beefy carbon-tipped TPU rubber lugs are begging to be taken into chunkier, muddier terrain. An EVA foam heel delivers extra cush when you hopping off and on the bike during all-day soujourns, and the breathable three-layer uppers come free of overlays for a fit that won't start to feel restricting when a few wrong turns extend your ride.

Scott Elite BOA Shoe - Men's Scott Elite BOA Shoe - Men's
The thought of a crisp post-race (or just post-ride) lager can help you get through the last half hour of a long day on virgin singletrack, but if you blow all your bills on shoes you'll just have to deal with water, which is no fun. Scott's Elite BOA Men's Shoes strike a balance between power and price, though, so you can ride hard and still have a few bucks left over for a drink and a snack. The savings come primarily from the nylon and fiberglass soles, which replace carbon to save a few bucks without much change in stiffness, but the rest of the shoe is as sleek and comfortable as Scott's highest-end boots. An upper made from 3D nylon and microfiber supports your foot and stays super breathable, and the removable Adjustable ErgoLogic insole can be tweaked to fit every arch. To prevent foot slippage, Scott combined a BOA closure with a hook-and-loop toe strap, and finished it off with a Sticki rubber sole for killer grip on steep hike-a-bikes.

Whether you race on smooth singletrack or run your kicks up stairs and through sand pits, you'll enjoy fast power transfer and a secure, adaptable fit with the Scott MTB RC Lace Shoe. This lightweight shoe adapts equally well to the rigors of XC rides or 'cross races, using laser-cut microfiber uppers cut in an asymmetrical pattern to provide a contoured, wrap-like fit around your foot that stays glued in place during a race. Inside the shoe, Scott's adjustable ErgoLogic footbed makes an appearance as well, allowing you to fine-tune the arch support the shoe gives you, or remove it entirely if you prefer. Tasked with delivering your hard-won watts to the pedals, the HMX carbon fiber outsole provides uncompromising stiffness and rigidity when you can't afford to waste energy. Shimano SH-AM5 Cycling Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-AM5 Cycling Shoe - Men's
We've seen the videos of the XC riders with clipless pedals getting scorpioned over the bars in rock gardens, too, but we're gonna go ahead and call that user error. Done right, riding clipless can be way better, especially with kicks as light and comfy as Shimano's SH-AM500 Men's Cycling Shoes. The power that you get from going clipless makes a huge difference when you like to pedal for your descents, and you won't have to worry about bashing your shins against the sharp edges of your flats, either. The AM500 synthetic leather upper is also rugged, so it'll protect your dogs on rocky hike-a-bikes and brush-bashing descents, and the hook-and-loop strap keeps your laces from untying themselves or getting whipped into your drivetrain, which has been known to cause a hell of a crash.

Shimano SH-AM7 Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's Shimano SH-AM7 Mountain Bike Shoes - Men's
The Shimano SH-AM7 Mountain Bike Shoes graced many flat-loving feet last year, but left many of us clipless loving riders sitting on the sidelines, jealous of the stile and versatility the shoes provided. Not to worry, this year the new SH-AM7 shoes come in with sleek updates, and cleat compatibility for increased pedaling power up punchy climbs and maneuvering through tight tree lines. The uppers on the SH-AM7 got a refreshing step up this year, while still using Shimano's durable synthetic leather, but opening up mesh panels for breathability, and omitting the lace-guard that trapped heat in on toasty days, leaving our feet feeling all too warm inside. Now we find a comfortable breeze gracing our toes to fight hot-foot and keep us hammering up and down trails all day. Another change occurred at the ankle, adding the same stretch mesh that you'll find on the SH-ME7's adding a cuff that keeps rocks and trail debris from making its way into your shoe mid ride. Inside, you'll find largely the same construction, with the same fit and supportive insole to keep your arch and heel feeling good all day. The sole uses the same Vibram rubber as last year's flat version, but with the additional recessed cleat mount that sits out of the way for when hiking a bike is a must, allowing you to enjoy the same tacky traction as before, when the rubber hits the trail.

Shimano SH-AM9 Bike Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-AM9 Bike Shoe - Men's
Gearing up for gravity days usually includes a full face helmet and big body armor to protect you from major hits, but don't forget about properly equipping your feet as well. Don the Shimano Sh-AM9 Bike Shoes for a little extra toe protection, in a build that's lightweight and breathable, so you don't feel weighted down or end up with a wicked case of hot-foot mid lap. The SH-AM9 is built to be tough and stand up to stray branches, grabby roots, and chunky rocks, with a tacky sole for when hiking a bike is a must, and a recessed clipless platform that stays out of the way when walking, but allows you to snap in for maximum power when its pedal time. Made from synthetic leather uppers, the SH-AM9 is durable and repels the elements. It naturally keeps water rolling off so you can stay dry, but features laser cut perforations to boost breathability. It uses a quick lace system that's easy to slide on and off, and features a large, hook and loop lace cover to keep your instep and laces protected from trail debris. At the ankle you'll find another hook and loop strap that adds just a bit more support, so you don't have to worry about heel slip on the ride, plus asymmetrical padding to protect you from hits on the inside from crank arms or frames. Your toes also stay well protected in the AM9's, first with a molded toe cap that provides armor against rocks and roots, and second with a lighter weird shield that moves from the toe to sides of your foot, providing protection to the widest points that might be more likely to catch a branch. On the bottom, the shoes use Shimano's AM sole for aggressive downhill riding. This uses a 3-layer construction, with a stiff midsole for support that keeps from over-flexing on the pedal, and tacky rubber on the outsole to keep you locked in when walking is a must. The outsole features direction specific tread patterns, with tread to propel you forward at the toe box, and opposite direction lugs at the heel to help with braking when...

Shimano SH-CT71 Cycling Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-CT71 Cycling Shoe - Men's
Pulling on a pair of $400, 170g carbon-soled slippers for a commute or spin class is excessive, so Shimano designed the SH-CT71 Men's Cycling Shoes to offer a more practical alternative for errands and utilitarian use. The shoes rate a three out of 12 on Shimano's stiffness scale, so they're not exactly suited to winding up in the final meters of a crit, but they do facilitate a pedestrian life when your day on the bike is punctuating by social stops and errands that don't necessarily benefit from the Euro minimalism of top-end race shoes. The shoes are built with a synthetic upper with a speed lace enclosure. The combination secures your foot to the sole without the fuss of a typical racing shoe and blends into the crowd when you're off the bike. They're also built for abuse, so you can spare the added mileage on your race shoes without drawing sidelong looks because you have to skate across the bank's tile floor. The soles are compatible with the simplified interface of Shimano's Click'r pedal system, which combines the sneaker-like functionality of the SH-CT71 with an easier, more intuitive clipless design. At the center of the soles, a shank with engineered flex allows for easy walking but reinforces the forefoot for efficient pedaling. It's housed in an EVA midsole which is then covered by a grippy rubber outsole. The latter two layers expose a recessed cleat mount plate with a standard two-bolt attachment.

Shimano SH-GR7 Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-GR7 Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's
Bikes continue to evolve and specialize and Shimano's commitment of crafting the finest shoes for every discipline continues with the SH-GR7. Designed especially for gravity junkies using platform pedals, these shoes feature an outsole designed to maximize the interface of sole-to-pedal contact. Shimano didn't just stop there. They employed the French wizards at Michelin to formulate a rubber compound that enhances grip on the pedals as well as the top steps of a champagne drenched podium.Protection comes in the form of a molded toe cap to defend the piggies before they're safe on the podium, while a stretch mesh ankle collar prevents trail debris from entering the shoe. One area where the GR7 differs from the GR9 is its lack of the speed lacing system, armored lace shield, and asymmetrically raised ankle collar. While these features do have their merits, we feel their absence leads to a shoe with superior aesthetics. A traditional lacing system further contributes to the clean look while allowing for a lightweight and highly adjustable fit. The laces also mean that if you're racing in Nowheresville and you happen to break your "buckle," new laces should be easy to source. Quick drying uppers will have you spinning perfect circles again after numerous creek crossings without feeling like you have cement boots on your feet.

Shimano SH-GR7W Mountain Bike Shoe - Women's Shimano SH-GR7W Mountain Bike Shoe - Women's
Is riding with platform pedals is where you find your heart is content' Do you want a ladies specific shoe that can dominate every part of the mountain' Are you tired of the world of Shrink-it-and-Pink-it' If you said yes to any of those questions, take a gander at Shimano's SH-GR7W women's specific flat pedal kicks. From the reinforced sidewalls and EVA midsole, to perforated synthetic leather uppers and stretch mesh ankle collar, there's an acute attention to detail and precision that we've learned comes along with the Shimano name. Finally you've found a pair of shoes that can give you the power and support you need, with the fit you've been looking for. Built on a narrower last than their men's shoes, Shimano aims to hook us up with the perfect fit for narrower ankles and the more slender forefoot we ladies often possess. Despite the difference in profile, burly materials are thrown into the shoe, making sure that you have a tough shoe that has no problem keeping up with you as you barrel past the guys on the downhill.Downhill and Enduro riding often kick up excesses of rocks and debris, so you've got a stretch mesh ankle collar holding tight against your sock, reducing the need to stop to get that rock out from under your foot. Durable perforated synthetic leather uppers repel water and help to aid in heat dissipation, reducing the dreaded hot-foot that many other burly shoes bestow upon us. A heavy duty molded toe cap protects your little piggies even the gnarliest downhill trails. Speaking of downhill, Shimano uses their AM footwear technology, originally designed for Downhill and Gravity riders, to ensure that you've got the technology needed for a solid sole. A pro rider-calibrated shank plate delivers rigidity, EVA midsole reduces weight and increases comfort, reinforced sidewalls provide your feet with the armor they need, and the cherry on top (or in this case, bottom) is the rubber outsole. Michelin proudly makes some of the tackier rubber we can ...

Shimano SH-GR9 Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-GR9 Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's
Charge into rough and chundery trails feet-first with the Shimano SH-GR9 Mountain Bike Shoes, ready to shred the bike park day in and day out. The SH-GR9 shoes excel on big terrain, thanks to its burly construction that's designed for riders who like to push the limits. Tough uppers, protection where it's needed, and breathability to keep hot-foot at bay are just some of the features that make Shimano's new gravity-specific flat shoe a fan favorite. This year's clipless shift of Shimano's well-loved SH-AM7 had us worried that flat-peddlers had been thrown to the wayside, but fortunately we received an extra-pleasant surprise of a category of our own. The new debut of the GR line gives us flat offerings to satiate us for years to come. The SH-GR9 does just that, starting with a snug hug that holds our feet in tight with synthetic leather uppers, built to repel water and mud, and dry quickly. Laser cut perforations hit the uppers both laterally along the side of your foot, and on the toe box to keep the shoe breathable. A speed lace system allows for fast and secure adjustments, and armored lace shield adds extra protection from low branches and trail debris. On the inner ankle the cut is asymmetrical, adding extra padding to protect you from the odd stray crank, or frame in the event of a crash. Shimano pairs up with Michelin on the outsole, to give you the promise of reliable rubber that won't shred or slip. Michelin's compound is admittedly a little bit less tacky than some of the others out there, but still provides enough grip to feel locked and planted on the pedals. The rubber is remarkably durable, so you don't have to worry about shredding it in the course of one season, and provides solid traction for when you need to hike in the woods to get the perfect shot of your buddies barreling down the trail, or --you know, take a call with nature.

Shimano SH-M065 Cycling Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-M065 Cycling Shoe - Men's
Whereas Shimano's XC line of shoes is aiming for the podium, Shimano also understands that not everyone's aspirations are competitive, and not everyone wants to waddle around off the bike in those soccer-cleat-like mountain shoes that are all too common. The company's solution comes in the form of shoes like the Shimano SH-M065, designed for competent pedaling performance and comfort on the bike, without compromising more practical benefits as simple as off-the-bike traction and "walkability." Like all M-series shoes, the M065's upper is made of a durable blend of synthetic leather and breathable polyester mesh. Your feet are secured inside by two hook-and-loop closure straps, spaced widely and backed by a panel that spans both straps to ensure protection and comfortable distribution of the straps' fit, so as to reduce pressure and hot spots while pedaling. The M065's are a bit heavier that the more expensive M163s, and they lack the M163's supportive Cross-X brace for a snug fit, but they still promise the same comfort. The relatively high-volume last isn't as snug-fitting as Shimano's competition-oriented XC shoe line, meaning the M065s are more comfortable for longer days and for hiking off the bike. The shoe's sole is made of a polyamide/fiberglass composite to keep it light and stiff without the higher costs associated with using carbon. The broad-area rubber outsole, as mentioned, is designed for ample off-the-bike traction and "walkability," even on smooth surfaces, which affords the added benefit of traction on the pedals even if you come unclipped or can't engage the cleat in time. Overall, they're great shoes for someone wanting a mountain bike shoe without the awkward walking or tight fit associated with most of them.

Shimano SH-M089 Cycling Shoe - Wide - Men's Shimano SH-M089 Cycling Shoe - Wide - Men's
Unless you're a Lycra-clad XC pro or touring the enduro circuit, chances are a day in the saddle spans all manner of terrain and conditions. Shimano's SH-M089 Wide Men's Cycling Shoe may seem out of place to the first two types of riders, but it's right at home as the hooves for the everyday/every trail mountain goat. Since not all goats are created equal, the Shimano offers these versatile hoof sheaths in a wide version, adding a bit more internal real estate for saddle-borne mega fauna. Except for the larger last, these M089 shoes are the same as their narrower stablemates. The synthetic leather and mesh upper is tough, flexible, and breathable, but it resists permanent deformation so you don't wake up one morning to find that your shoes don't fit anymore. By combining a ratcheting top strap with two smaller hook-and-loop straps, Shimano endows the SH-M089 with a highly adjustable fit, relieving the pinch that can be caused by strong push-offs or while mashing out of the saddle. The toe box has a little extra room than typical wide sizes, and the extra-cushioned midsole helps take the sting out of hard technical riding and rugged descents. Not content to settle for comfort alone, Shimano designed the SH-M089 with its TORBAL torsional midsole, which allows for a more natural side-to-side "flowing" motion, particularly during descents. This makes for smoother, more predictable cornering without sacrificing power during climbs. The sole, a composite of nylon and fiberglass, puts plenty of power down into the pedals. A wide range of cleat adjustability adds to the M089's versatility, as does the outsole's high-traction rubber, which makes for easier hike-a-bikes and parking-lot traversals.

Shimano SH-M200 Shoes Shimano SH-M200 Shoes
The Shimano Men's SH-M200 Mountain Bike Shoes combine the low weight and efficiency of XC shoes with the sturdy construction of AM shoes to protect your feet while you charge whatever trail you please. Focused on the needs of all-mountain riders, the M200s use a blend of tough synthetic leather and multi-layered, breathable polyester mesh for a durable and breathable outer skin. Speed-lacing closures cover up with hook-and-loop panels for extra shielding on the top of your feet, helping to keep the dirt out. Each shoe's collar has an ankle guard that protects from accidental crank arm contact and collisions from unseen obstacles. The Torbal carbon-reinforced midsoles allow for natural foot motion on the downhill and still provide enough sole stiffness (eight on Shimano's 1-10 scale) for XC pedaling efficiency. Relatively high-volume toe boxes provide forefoot comfort, and variable-density rubber outsoles are lugged for aggressive traction.

Shimano SH-ME3 Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-ME3 Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's
Shimano's SH-ME3 packs enough features for a mid-level enduro shoe to make it appreciated half-way through a Big Mountain Enduro race or while sneaking in some choice singletrack before the sun sets. We all want shoes that coverts pedaling effort in forward momentum effectively while still comfortable clipped in to the pedals or on terra firma. The TORBAL (Torsional Balance) midsole, reinforced with glass fiber, might not be quite as stiff as its carbon brethren; however, its inclusion in a shoe of this discipline is warranted the ability to scramble off the bike is almost as valuable as pedaling efficiency. The pedal contact and toe and heel areas feature durable materials designed to withstand whatever you, your bike, or the trail can throw at it. Another nice feature is the expanded 2-hole cleat adjustment range. Shimano has expanded the fore-aft cleat adjustment window by 5-9mm, depending on size, ensuring that you can dial in the cleat position for your riding style and proper fit.The uppers feature synthetic leather which is both lighter and stronger than natural leathers. If this shoe is anything like Shimano shoes we have used in the past, we're confident that they will last until the cockroaches rule the planet. Hook-and-loop straps and low-profile buckles are easy to use and perfect for snugging up your kicks right before it's your time to shine on a timed segment.

Shimano SH-ME3 Mountain Bike Shoe - Women's Shimano SH-ME3 Mountain Bike Shoe - Women's
A good day of mountain biking starts when you hear the click of your cleat into pedal, and you start spinning your legs towards the trailhead. Give your feet something to be happy about when you start laying down the power with the Shimano SH-ME3 women's mountain bike shoe. With the perfect balance of comfort and performance, they feature a middle level of flex, allowing for the stiffness necessary for laying down power, but enough flex that you'll feel good all day, and won't curse yourself when you need to hike-a-bike, The sole starts out with lightweight rubber, and an all-around tread, so you have traction in all conditions when you're not on the bike, and a TORBAL midsole allows for your natural flow motion while in the saddle. A fiberglass reinforcement on the midsole gives you the stiffness you need for mashing up punchy climbs without adding much weight, and still allowing for comfortable flex. Up top, supple synthetic leather uppers wrap your foot securely, and feature a mesh patch near the toes to keep you from getting hot-foot, and perforation up top for perspiration and heat to escape. Holding your foot in place are two hook-and-loop straps over your forefoot and instep, and a reverse-buckle up top offers precise tightening that ratchets down, hiding the excess strap so it doesn't get hung up on trail debris. The shoe is built on a women's specific last, so it's narrower than Shimano's men's line, providing a fit tuned more towards our narrower feet. This is especially prevalent in the ankle, where it's slim and hugs your heel into place preventing slip when you're really pushing it.

Shimano SH-ME5 Cycling Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-ME5 Cycling Shoe - Men's
The ME5 Men's Cycling Shoe is the most robust member of Shimano's beat-'em-up trail and enduro shoes, recommending it for everything up to--and often including--gravity shuttle laps. Its key technology may well be the Torbal sole, which is engineered to flex in specific ways in order to translate body English to the bike while you're flowing through loops on your local trail system. The sole itself forgoes the more expensive carbon of the ME7 model in favor of the standard nylon/synthetic cocktail that we've been happily abusing for years. The ME5 also has a less elaborate lug design on the rubber outsole, which adds more negative space for clearing mud and debris while hiking through impassable terrain or scuttling down a hillside in pursuit of your lost machine. While you're actually on the bike, the mid-range stiffness (six out of 12) and a reinforced cleat zone mean you won't be uselessly sacrificing watts to a void of sloppy flex during long climbs. The synthetic uppers are reinforced throughout with rubberized armor, giving the common strike points much more survivability. The enclosure system does its part to stay out of the way, maintaining a low profile in order to avoid grasping trail furniture. The system consists of the standard ratcheting buckle with two supporting hook-and-loop straps in order to keep your foot glued to the pedals so the Torbal's engineered flex isn't wasted on a noodly body/shoe interface.

Shimano SH-XC31 Cycling Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-XC31 Cycling Shoe - Men's
When looking for mountain biking shoes, comfort and efficiency are the two most important criteria to consider. With their solid uppers, fiberglass-reinforced soles, and inimitable Dynalast design, the Shimano SH-XC31 Mountain Bike Shoes meet them both. The XC31s' knack for smoothing the trail is appreciated, but the shoes' real star is their inclusion of Shimano's Dynalast technology at such a forgiving price point. Dynalast increases your pedal efficiency by a claimed . 56%. While that doesn't seem like much at first blush, any cyclist who's ridden for longer than two hours understands the importance of marginal gains like this. They can be the difference between finishing a group ride or race at the front or struggling to hang on. Dynalast involves lowering the toe-spring and heel section of the last while keeping the arch and metatarsal areas at the same height. This creates an optimal pedaling angle for leading into and exiting the up-swing of your pedal stroke, so the dead spot is shortened and your efficiency is increased with each turn of the crank. The polyamide outsole is reinforced with fiberglass threads to strike a balance between stiffness and the amount of vibration that it transfers to your feet. After all, energy transference is a two-way street, so while the XC31s aren't ideal for a one-hour hammerfest race, they will keep you comfortable in the saddle for half-day adventures. It's mated to a synthetic leather upper that beats its natural counterpart in every aspect where it counts. The synthetic is less-stretchy, more durable, and lighter, so the XC31s' ability to resist deformation and shrug off grasping twigs and the occasional chance encounter with a rock or trunk doesn't come at the expense of weight.

Shimano SH-XC5 Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-XC5 Mountain Bike Shoe - Men's
If Shimano's SH-XC5 mountain bike shoes were an animal, they would most likely be a tiger. Why' Because, like tigers, they are tough, resilient, and adaptable, they excel in many different regions of the world and can seamlessly transition from one environment to the other. Like tigers, they also come in shades of black, orange, and grey. Coincidence' We're not entirely sure, but they definitely move from XC single track, to gravel road, and CX courses in a way not unlike a tiger transitioning seamlessly from the snow covered mountains of Siberia to the dense jungles of India. To achieve this versatility, Shimano's designers used top materials, like synthetic leather uppers that give your foot a snug hug, featuring perforated venting to keep you from overheating, and lightweight carbon fiber reinforced insoles to stiffen your shoe without excessive weight. The lace-up closure is always reliable, and essentially future-proof, with no finicky boas to break mid ride from a blow against a rock, and it is reinforced with a mini power-strap to securely hold the lacing in place and offer additional support. Underneath it all, exclusive Michelin high-traction, mud-shedding rubber makes up the outsole, ready to dominate in many conditions, whether you're 30 miles deep on a road to nowhere, lapping your local single track, or throwing your steed over shoulder to hurdle over rivers and logs at a cyclocross race. With an anti-slip arch outsole pattern, you'll feel secure and you'll receive extra support underfoot, and control laying down power on the pedals. Reinforced spike mounts are there for you when you need to ride in more extreme conditions.

Shimano always delivers a consistent cycling shoe. We are always amazed with the features it packs into a shoe at every price point. We also enjoy the fact that they wear at a glacial pace. Shimano performance and reliability meets lace up convenience and comfort with the Women's SH-XC5 Mountain Bike Shoe.Shimano bills the XC5 as a shoe for cross-country, cyclocross, and gravel riding. The synthetic perforated leather upper is lighter and more durable than natural leathers so you get an easy to care for shoe that always fits consistently and dries quickly. On the front of the shoe, the sole has a reinforced threaded area for mounting spikes making it perfect for slimy, muddy CX run-ups or scrambling up loose terrain on hike-a-bike sections. Shimano rates the shoes as a 7 out of 12 on the sole stiffness scale and the lightweight and rigid carbon fiber reinforced sole offers plenty of efficiency when pedaling in earnest. This comes without being overly stiff for off-the-bike running between the planks or into a country store to fuel up for the last push home. Shimano SH-XC7 Cycling Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-XC7 Cycling Shoe - Men's
If the SH-XC9 is Shimano's shoe equivalent to its superlative XTR drivetrain, then the SH-XC7 is analog to XT, borrowing a heap of inspiration from its top-tier sibling to bring industry leading function to those of us on a bit more of a budget. Given that the XC7 is a race-ready shoe, the carbon-reinforced midsole is the most important of these layers as it places the XC7 near the top of Shimano's stiffness hierarchy. It clocks in at nine out of 12 on Shimano's stiffness scale, and the only Shimano XC shoe that's stiffer is the XC9 S-Phyre at 11 out of 12. This places the XC7 firmly into race-ready territory, with highly efficient power transfer and just a hint of forgiveness for increased utility when running over barriers or climbing steep embankments.Though it's not as stiff as the S-Phyre, the XC7 does feature a more robust complement of lugs, so it's better suited for navigating sloppy run-ups or trails on foot. The rubberized outsole also includes toe spike mounts for days when not even the lugs are enough, and the compound comes from the experts at Michelin. Michelin uses two different durometers throughout the soles, targeting different qualities of grip and durable depending on how the lugs will contact the ground--just like with the brand's tires.Shimano builds the last with its proprietary Dynalast construction, a design that increases pedal efficiency by a claimed . 56% on each stroke. In this regard, it's similar to the XT M8000 groupset, sacrificing a few grams of weight and some high-end features to XTR M9000 but so far ahead of the next closest competitor that everyone from seasoned racers to aspiring recreationalists find that it's just the right fit. By making the SH-XC7 available in a wide last, Shimano also ensures that the versatile shoe's appeal is more all-encompassing than ever. Wide last aside, the XC7 Wide is the same as the standard XC7. That means it rides atop a sole comprising multiple strata of different materials. Given that the XC7 is a race-ready shoe, the carbon-reinforced midsole is the most important of these layers as it places the XC7 near the top of Shimano's stiffness hierarchy. It clocks in at nine out of 12 on Shimano's stiffness scale, and the only Shimano XC shoe that's stiffer is the S-Phyre (11/12). This is made all the more impressive when you realize that only three of Shimano's road-specific shoes are stiffer and the next stiffest XC shoe ranks a lowly five. Though it's not as stiff as the S-Phyre, the XC7 does feature a more robust complement of lugs, so it's better suited for navigating sloppy run-ups or trails on foot. The rubberized outsole also features toe spike mounts for days when not even the lugs are enough, and the compound comes from the experts at Michelin. Michelin uses two different durometers throughout the soles, targeting different qualities of grip and durable depending on how the lugs will contact the ground--just like with the brand's tires. As with its standard model, Shimano builds the wide last with its proprietary Dynalast construction, a design that increases pedal efficiency by a claimed . 56% on each stroke. While that doesn't seem like much at first blush, any cyclist who's ridden for longer than two hours underst...

Shimano SH-XM7 Cycling Shoe - Men's Shimano SH-XM7 Cycling Shoe - Men's
When you're planning an epic bikepacking adventure, you don't want to rely on just any old pair of off-road shoes to get you through it. You need shoes that will protect your feet from unexpected weather conditions, walk well, and survive the rigors of adventure. The Shimano Men's SH-XM7 Bike Shoes have all of those boxes covered with a Gore-Tex liner, durable upper, and a grippy Vibram sole. With an outsole stiffness rating of three, which falls solidly on the comfort side of the comfort vs. competition spectrum, these shoes are built for functionality for long hours in the saddle and while setting up camp on foot, and they promise durability to last over the miles. Shimano fashions the SH-XM7's upper from nubuck leather with rubber reinforcement around the toe box for stability and protection. A waterproof and breathable Gore-Tex liner protects your feet from sudden rain squalls and other inclement weather to keep your toes toasty and dry. Laces span the top of the shoe for easy adjustment and a customized fit, and a hook-and-loop strap across the top of the foot holds the laces in place and provides an extra dose of support. Underfoot, a Vibram outsole provides grippy traction over rocks, roots, and other obstacles, while a half-length shank plate provides excellent walkability. To cap things off, shock-absorbing EVA foam increases comfort on and off the bike.

If you're lucky enough to be stocking up on gear for your next bikepacking trip or tour, Shimano's SH-MX9 Bike Shoes make a strong case as the shoes you should take along with you on your adventures. Shimano constructs the SH-MX9 with a durable nubuck leather upper, backed by a reinforced rubber toe box and padded ankle cuff reminiscent of your most rugged pair of hiking shoes to withstand all of the rocks and trail debris you're likely to encounter. Inside, Gore-Tex's breathable Performance Comfort lining means your feet stay completely dry while you're wearing the shoes in rainy or muddy trail conditions. Shimano adds EVA foam to the midsole to provide some shock-absorption as you're hiking or breaking down camp, while a half-length plate with a stiffness of three out of 12 on Shimano's stiffness scale accommodates two-bolt mountain cleats, lending the shoes their distinction as part hiking boot, part mountain bike shoe. Finally, the lugged Vibram outsole works to give you ample traction and stability as you walk with your bike along on aggressive trails.

Sidi Buvel Shoe - Women's Sidi Buvel Shoe - Women's
If you're of the opinion that the point of a trail shoe is to get the hell kicked out of it, then the Sidi women's Buvel Shoes may have your number. Instead of the carbon bedazzling and gee-golly doodads of shoes designed for coffee shop preening, the women's Buvel Shoes distill Sidi's myriad off-road technologies down to their purist, most effectively simple form. The women's Buvel incorporates three key features to produce a functional, durable ride: the Competition Sole, a reinforced heel cup, and the classic Sidi ratcheting buckle. The sole is made from nylon, which dampens trail chatter while ensuring efficient power transfer. The forefoot also provides some targeted flex for more comfortable walking and run-ups. There are also two optional toe spike attachment points to provide additional traction when sloppy turns sloppier. The heel cup and ratcheting buckle make for a secure fit system, and the hook-and-loop straps and stretch-resistant synthetic uppers keep the fit dialed where you want it.

Sidi Dominator Fit Mega Shoes - Men's Sidi Dominator Fit Mega Shoes - Men's
Stuffing your oversized feet into regular cycling shoes is akin to wearing a shirt that's two sizes too small, being extremely awkward at best and painfully tight at worst. Alleviating the discomfort of wearing overly tight cycling shoes, the Sidi Men's Dominator Fit Mega Shoe offers cloud-nine comfort and optimal efficiency for riders with plus-sized feet. The shoe's wider design accommodates the higher insteps and wider metatarsals of bigger feet, so you're never pedaling in pain or cramping up your feet on the trail. Wrapping your feet in supple Microfibra Microtech fabric, the Dominator Fit Mega remains highly durable in the face of rock strikes and trail impediments. It's also resistant to outside moisture in the form of shallow stream crossings and soggy trails. The Soft Instep 2 prevents heel lift with its wide, anatomically curved strap evenly distributing pressure across the upper foot and ankle. Offering a micro-adjustable fit, the Caliper buckle system retains security through fast pedaling movements and off-bike scrambles over rocky trails. Harness power into forward locomotion, the Competition sole uses nylon in place of carbon for efficient pedaling, but without the unrelenting stiffness of a dedicated race shoe. Rugged treads grip tenaciously over rough ground and technical trails when you're forced to dismount. Optional toe spike attachments give racers and trail enthusiasts aggressive traction over slick, mud-caked trails and steep uphill sections.

Sidi Dominator Fit Narrow Shoes - Men's Sidi Dominator Fit Narrow Shoes - Men's
Sidi's Dominator was first designed as a mountain shoe, gaining a devout mass of fans amongst the dirt and mud-loving set. Later, it was tailored to work for 'cross as well, and riders reluctant to pigeonhole themselves into one discipline received it with glowing praise. Adept at carrying you through mud, grass, sand, and even tarmac, the Dominator Fit Narrow Shoes have been further adapted to accommodate cyclists with narrow feet. Offering a contoured, streamlined fit for cyclists who are accustomed to cinching straps and yanking down laces to get a shoe that doesn't slip, we think this version of the Dominator is bound to amass even more passionate fans. The material partially responsible for providing the previously-mentioned tailored fit is Sidi's Microfiber Microtech, an environmentally conscious synthetic material Sidi constructs using water-based materials that leave a smaller eco-footprint during production. Sidi still ensures that the material will function in much the same way as its other synthetic uppers. Expect water-repellency, low weight, durability, and added breathability from perforations as you ride. While the uppers are built on a narrow last, the two hook-and-loop straps and ratcheting buckle further allow you to dial the fit across your metatarsals and instep, avoiding pressure points while ensuring the shoe aids in efficient power transfer as much as possible. To help you avoid tightening the shoe to foot-numbing degree, Sidi also adds its Soft Instep 2 across the top buckle, an EVA foam cushion that helps to better distribute pressure across the top of your instep. As you push towards the top of long climbs and over cruxes, the nylon composite Competition MTB outsole creates a stable, solid pedaling platform, consistently transferring valuable watts from your feet to the pedals. Sidi's molded, reinforced heel cup contributes to efficiency by locking your heel in place to eliminate power-sapping heel slippage. For the days when the ter...

Sidi Dominator Fit Shoes - Men's Sidi Dominator Fit Shoes - Men's
The Sidi Dominators have, well, dominated the high-end mountain bike shoe market for an awfully long time, and it's not just because they look great. The original Dominators were comfortable, fit a lot of people really well (average to narrow-feet, mostly), and didn't mind being ridden hard and put away wet. One thing they weren't great at, though, was offering any kind of grip when walking or hiking. A couple years ago, Sidi revamped the original Dominators, naming the revision the Dominator Fit. Sidi's focus in this revision was cyclocross, a discipline that demands an awful lot of shoes. A good 'cross shoe has to withstand power pedaling, run-ups, mud, sand, and everything in between. The biggest change in the transition to the Fit nomenclature is the sole -- the rubber's a softer durometer now, so when you try to walk over boulders, it won't look like a colt's first tentative steps.

Sidi Dragon 4 Mega Shoe - Men's Sidi Dragon 4 Mega Shoe - Men's
A mountain-bike shoe with a road pedigree, the Sidi Dragon 4 Mega Men's Shoe is a widebody option for XC and CX riders who aren't happy anywhere but at the top of the podium. It takes a rare shoe to reach that rarefied air, and the Dragon 4's legendary Heel Security System (HSS) and Tecno 3 fit design are unparalleled in the off-road shoe game. HSS incorporates a rigid adjustable band that squeezes the shoe around the back of your foot, anchoring your heel in place when you're putting 105% into the pedals, and the added security means you can loosen the forefoot straps and stop your feet from falling asleep. On the front half of your foot, it's all about the Tecno 3 fit system. It starts with an extra-wide wire-adjustable Soft Arch Compression Strap, letting you fine-tune the pressure across the top of your foot, and continues to yet another wire dial strap at the midfoot. Across the lower part of the shoe, a classic hook-and-loop strap makes it easy to pull the Microfibre TechPro upper close to your foot without pinching. An MTB SRS Carbon Composite sole provides long-lasting power and stiffness, and in classic Sidi style, virtually every part is replaceable, so your shoes will last longer than you do.

Sidi Dragon 4 Shoe - Men's Sidi Dragon 4 Shoe - Men's
Ignite your riding with the foot-conforming fit and seamless power transfer of the Sidi Men's Dragon 4 Shoe. As its name suggests, the Dragon 4 breathes life into your off-road riding and racing pursuits with its head-turning aesthetics and superb fitment. Sidi's Microfiber Tech Pro wraps your feet in a supremely supple microfiber that's highly resistant to abrasion and outside moisture. Dialing in a micro-adjustable fit, the Soft Instep 3 strap conforms to your foot with its soft, anatomically curved strap of thermo-formed EVA for pressure-free comfort. Sidi's Tecno 3 buckles cinch a non-binding wire tightly to eliminate excess movement from sapping energy to the pedals. The Dragon 4 transfers pedaling into forward locomotion with its SRS Carbon Sole, which uses carbon-reinforced nylon for maximum efficiency. This aggressively lugged sole retains sure-footed grip when you're forced to dismount over hike-a-bike sections. And like all of Sidi's SRS soles, grippy traction lugs are replaceable after you've worn them out. Rounding out this excellent shoe, the reinforced toe takes a substantial beating without succumbing to premature wear.

Sidi Drako Push Limited Edition Shoe - Men's Sidi Drako Push Limited Edition Shoe - Men's
We can't all ride with the flair of Absalon, himself a long-time Sidi fan, but the special fluo green colorway of the Drako Push Limited Edition Men's Shoes do mean we can light the trail up in another way. As with the standard model, this limited edition features Sidi's newly improved Tecno 3 Push fastener. Like its predecessor, the Tecno-3 Push system involves two ratcheting dials, Sidi's proprietary, non-stretch wire, and a customizable fit at the instep and forefoot. The Push in the shoes' title refers to the incorporation of a red button on the buckles' faces that releases the ratchet's lever for quick adjustment, saving you the onerous task of flipping the lever up yourself. At ride's end, pinching two release buttons on either side of the dial loosens the wire. As with all of Sidi's fastening hardware, you can easily fiddle with the Tecno 3 Push buckles in the saddle. The Drako's SRS Carbon Ground Sole and replaceable cleat wear plate return unchanged. This sole shaves 100 grams off its predecessor's weight without sacrificing comfort, efficiency, or durability. The sole comprises a medium-modulus carbon body supplemented with SRS tread blocks and a cleat wear plate, the latter two of which are replaceable. Using a medium-modulus carbon as the base provides a slight flex along the length of the foot with no compromise to the overall rigidity of the sole, a delicate but necessary balance for top-level off-road shoes. Sidi's Heel Security System (HSS) also makes an encore appearance, using an adjustable, rigid composite band that closes the shoe more securely over your heel to anchor it in place around your Achilles. No matter how much power you're pouring into the pedals, your heel will stay in place inside the shoe, even if you leave a bit of slack in the Tecno-3 lines in order to alleviate pressure across your metatarsals. The shoes are finished with Sidi's synthetic Lorica uppers inset with ballistic mesh panels and capped with a rubberized toe shield.

Sidi Drako SRS LTD Euro Edition Men's Shoes Sidi Drako SRS LTD Euro Edition Men's Shoes
Replacing the Dragon 3, the new Drako (Latin for dragon) SRS LTD Euro Edition Shoes make use of the new Tecno 3 buckle system, a sleek, breathable design, and the new Drako SRS Carbon Soles. Altogether, Sidi has slashed 100 grams from the Dragon 3, while making the comfort and efficiency of the Drako design well ahead of any other mountain shoe on the market. While the Dragon 3 utilizes three different closure systems, the Drako is based around a single system -- the new Tecno 3 buckle, yet another great innovation from Sidi. Most notably, adjustments of each of the shoe's instep and forefoot buckles are significantly more intuitive and easier to do while in-the-saddle. Loosening each buckle is a simple affair -- you can pinch both buttons on either side of the buckle to unwind the line closure, or you can alternatively toggle each button for extremely precise incremental adjustment. Tightening the shoe should also be familiar: just open the buckle's switch and wind the buckle. Sidi uses a supple, but low-friction, line material to keep the buckle action smooth. For a difference that you'll feel on the first pedal stroke, Sidi gave the Drako the all new Drako Carbon SRS Sole. This sole not only shaves 100 grams from the Dragon, but it also achieves equilibrium between comfort, efficiency, and durability. To do so, Sidi designed the sole around a durable nylon frame. The carbon fiber, as well as the SRS tread, are actually bolted down, replaceable inserts that attach to the frame. This provides a slight flex along the length of the foot without compromising the overall rigidity of the sole. Through this distinct design, the sole allows a fierce power transfer without risking the loss of circulation in the feet from being too rigid. Also returning from previous top-shelf offerings is Sidi's improved Heel Security System (or HSS) to keep your foot positively planted in the shoe. By means of a small allen key, it's an adjustable, rigid composite band that closes t...

As a member of the upper echelon of Sidi shoes, the Drako exemplifies Sidi in all of its technical glory. The Tecno3 Push fastener has been a Sidi mountain and road mainstay for years; use it to micro-adjust the fit of the Drako along your instep to a minute degree whether you're in the saddle already or going through your pre-ride ritual. When you're done riding, the whole system releases with a quick push of a button. Power transfer remains as sacred a phrase on singletrack as it is on the roads, and Sidi takes it seriously with the Drako. Before you ride, adjust the heel cup to fit exactly the way you want it around your heel to experience a slip-free ride, even when you're pushing on a climb. It's one of the most beloved Sidi features, consistently delivering your watts to the pedals. The Drako's carbon fiber sole does its own share of work to promote efficient power transfer as well; the medium modulus carbon allows for an appropriate amount of flex for off-road riding, while remaining stiff and responsive. Sidi finishes the Drako with an outsole complete with replaceable SRS tread blocks for hike-ready traction.
