Garmin Vector 2 Power Meter Pedals Garmin Vector 2 Power Meter Pedals
They say good things come to those who wait, and in the case of the Garmin Vector 2 Power Meter Pedals, it's true. If you're looking to get more out of your training than just seeing where you stack up against competitors on apps, it's probably time to make the jump to a power meter, and after a few new upgrades for this year, now's a great time to choose the Vector pedals. One of the major highlights of the Vector 2 as a system is its ability to measure power coming through each leg independently. Some systems take one leg and double it to reach an overall power output, but most people have a dominant leg, and the Vector 2 will force you to confront a weaker side that could be slowing you down. Garmin's over-achieving design won't let you get away with much during a ride: it knows exactly how much time you spend in and out of the saddle, where you drive power through to the pedals, as well as which part of your pedal stroke is the most powerful, and it will tell you all of that using its interactive Garmin Connect platform, which stores all of your ride data and helps you make sense of the numbers. As the Vector 2 is a pedal-mounted system, you don't have to dread swapping it from your road bike to your mountain rig on a regular basis. In fact, sharing it amongst your quiver of bikes is encouraged. The whole system takes just a few minutes to install, so you can make a quick change before a ride without condemning yourself to an afternoon in the garage. Use the Vector 2 with either Look Keo or Garmin Vector 3-bolt cleats, and know quickly when the device has synced and is ready to go using the new LED indicator light.

Garmin Vector 2S Power Meter Pedals Garmin Vector 2S Power Meter Pedals
The Garmin Vector 2S Power Meter Pedals bring some new features to the table and provide powerful data tracking in an affordable, easy to install, and bike interchangeable format. With the Vector 2S, Garmin throws away the old washers found on the Vector S pedal pods and opted for a new, more user-friendly design that clamps over the pedal spindle. The Vector 2S pods also feature a new flashing LED system to provide information on pairing status and let you know when the battery is getting low. The Vector 2S still measures watts with a pod attached to the left pedal spindle, capturing power information as it transfers from the pedal into the crank arm. The sensor monitors tiny changes in the pedal spindle curve as force is applied to the pedal, and the data is transferred wirelessly via ANT+ technology to the head unit. You can see your power during rides and also download the data for analysis once you get home. The Vector 2S also has the option to upgrade and convert to a dual-sensing system with the Garmin Vector 2S Upgrade Pedal for additional data features such as left/right balance and pedal efficiency dynamics. The pedal itself has a lightweight composite body with a stainless steel wear plate to increase durability and provide a wide platform, reducing the chances of pressure points distracting from your ride. The adjustable tension binding also lets you customize the force required to twist the cleat out of the pedal and is compatible with Garmin Vector and Look Keo three-bolt cleats. The whole system runs on a standard 2032 coin cell battery located in the pedal pod for a claimed 175 hours of ride time per battery. When time's up, the batteries are easily replaceable with a quick trip to the grocery store and a twist of the battery cap. The Garmin Vector 2S Power Meter Pedals are available with standard pedal pods to fit crank arms 12mm to 15mm thick and up to 44mm wide or large pedal pods to fit crank arms 15mm to 18mm thick and up to 44mm wide. Garmin Vector 2S Upgrade Pedal Garmin Vector 2S Upgrade Pedal
Upgrade your Garmin Vector 2S Pedals with the Vector 2S Upgrade Pedal and get rolling with even more data tracking. This pedal replaces the right pedal of the standard Vector 2S system, adding a right-side tracking pod to turn your bike into a dual-sensing data gathering machine. With readings from both pedals, the upgraded Vector 2S system is able to provide data on left/right power balance as well as dynamics that include assessment of where you generate power in each pedal stroke, where you apply force on the pedal, and how much time you spend sitting and standing while riding. This lets you analyze and fine tune your pedal stroke to address any imbalances for a potentially smoother, more powerful ride. As with the sensor-less pedal it replaces, the 2S Upgrade Pedal has a lightweight composite body with a stainless steel wear plate to increase durability and provide a wide platform for the cleat, reducing the chances of uncomfortable pressure points. The adjustable tension binding lets you customize the force required to twist the cleat out of the pedal, and the engagement system is compatible with the included Garmin Vector cleats and the ubiquitous Look Keo three-bolt cleats. The system is powered by a standard 2032 coin cell battery located in the pedal pod, netting a claimed 175 hours of ride time per battery. When you run through it, the battery is easily replaceable with a quick trip to the convenience store and a twist of the battery cap. The Garmin Vector 2S Upgrade Pedal is available with a standard pedal pod to fit crank arms 12mm to 15mm thick and up to 44mm wide or a large pedal pod to fit crank arms 15mm to 18mm thick and up to 44mm wide. HT Components X1 Clipless Pedals HT Components X1 Clipless Pedals
HT Components wanted to design a secure, high-tension pedal for the downhill crowd, so the company decided to get some feedback on its early designs by sending pro Mr. Gwin down a few wild descents on the World Cup circuit on an early version of the pedal they hoped to create. It must have gone well, because an updated version of the pedals he rode, the X1 Clipless Pedals, are now available for the masses, offering an option for riders who need something that's solid enough to withstand the rigors of downhill racing. A precise, CNC-machined aluminum body gives the X1 pedals strength while keeping them light, with replaceable pins around the perimeter of the pedal added to strengthen the platform. HT Components lists the float at around 4. 5 degrees, but it may feel much more minimal than that to riders used to pedals that allow for more movement. Before a race or ride, take advantage of the pedals' high spring tension to ensure that no amount of turbulent sections of trail cause you to eject unless you want to. All together, the pedals will add a claimed 470g to your frame -- they'll be heavier than some other offerings, but more solid too.

HT Components X2 Clipless Pedals HT Components X2 Clipless Pedals
To create its new X2 Clipless Pedals, HT Components logically started with the effective design of its X1 downhill pedals. They worked closely with World Cup fixture Mr. Gwin to gain feedback early versions of the downhill pedals, which led them to alter the X1's platform to make the X2's easier to get in and out of with a wider variety of shoes. While the X1 requires more of an all-or-nothing decisiveness to clip out of, the X2 uses a thinner, 14mm platform than the X1's to allow them to be more responsive, and it uses a slimmer cage design on the CNC-machined body to shed a claimed 10g compared to the X1, bringing the overall weight of a pair of X2's down to a claimed 460g. HT Components also changed up its bearing system to the more minimal EVO+ on the X2's, which uses a single DU bushing per side, but the pedals are still compatible with X1 cleats. The other features closely resemble the X1's, with the same replaceable five pins around the perimeter of the platform included to strengthen the pedal, and the same high spring tension that makes both sets of pedals well-suited to the demands of downhill racing. With the high spring tension paired with the minimal float, you'll be able to attack technical sections of trail at high speeds without worrying about an ill-timed accidental ejection.

iSSi Carbon Road Pedal iSSi Carbon Road Pedal
Pedal industry underdog iSSi has been attracting far more attention for its designs off the trails, but here at Competitive, we're equally excited about road options like the Carbon Road Pedal. While the ability to match the color with our frame is awfully enticing, iSSi's fresh approach and solid designs are what's truly responsible for winning us over. Minnesota-based iSSi crafts the entire body of the pedal out of carbon fiber, giving it lightness and rigidity befitting a pedal that will grace its fair share of weight-conscious frames. Anticipating the wear that pedals see through varied road conditions, iSSi coated the chromoly spindle with an ED treatment to boost its longevity and keep corrosion at bay, and it reinforced the cleat-pedal interface with a stainless steel plate. iSSi's innovative split-cleat design gives you the ability to choose between three different float options: 0, 4. 5, and 7 degrees. Since the pedals are easy to remove, this design allows you to swap them between bikes then adjust float based on your preference for a given discipline. As with its mountain pedals, the cartridge bearings are all brushed and completely sealed on the Carbon Road, and the pedal accommodates for spring tension adjustability to make sure standing out of the saddle to attack doesn't result in an accidental ejection.

iSSi II Triple Pedal iSSi II Triple Pedal
We're excited to see Minnesota-based newcomer iSSi offering subtle tweaks and improvements to improve its line of mountain pedals this year. Already earning attention for entering an industry long dominated by a few giants, iSSi's functional, bright designs are looking better than ever. As the weight-conscious member of the line, the II Triple Pedal received the same modifications as the Triple Trail to help it interact better with both SPD and iSSi branded cleats, while retaining its ultralight body. If you're looking for a pedal with substantial support underfoot, we'd recommend the Triple Trail, but if saving grams ranks among your most important goals, the II Triple offers responsive engagement, now better than ever with a redesigned retention claw. iSSi squared-off the sides of the claw to help the mechanism better interact with the tension spring, and the improved relationship provides a more satisfying pop when you twist your shoe out of the pedal. Whether you use the II Triple for 'cross racing in the fall, commuting by day, or keep it dedicated to your featherweight XC frame, the 14. 6 degree release angle inspires confidence that the pedals will react the way you need them to, without overreacting. We also appreciate iSSi's approach to the pedal's internals. In forgoing the traditional bearing/bushing combo in favor of three fully sealed cartridge bearings, iSSi eliminates the need for routine maintenance, with an easy replacement process once the bearings reach the end of their lifespan.

iSSi Triple Trail Pedal iSSi Triple Trail Pedal
Playing the part of the underdog in an industry dominated by giants, Minneapolis-based iSSi launched just a few years ago with the goal of making better pedals than what was currently available. We love to believe in an underdog as much as anyone else, but iSSi earned our admiration all by itself with its small line of meticulously crafted pedals. Clearly named, the Triple Trail Pedal was created with trail and all-mountain riding in mind. It features a wider platform for better contact and stability between your shoe and the pedal. A more stable platform represents a welcome, but not revolutionary design, so iSSi looked to set the Triple Trail apart from proven favorites by changing up the bearing design and spring tension as well. The Triple Trail's three bearings come fully sealed and with no option for adjustment, so the only time you'll have the opportunity to adjust them will be when noisiness tells you they're ready to be replaced. This leaves far less room for error, and we appreciate that the simple replacement process doesn't require a mechanic's certification--just a hex wrench and a socket. As we mentioned above, iSSi does provide ample room for adjusting tension, so bigger riders or anyone more accustomed to the freedom of riding flats has the freedom to lock their cleats down as much as needed to prevent accidental ejections. It also updated its release angle and clip design, changing the angle from 20 degrees to 14. 6 while rounding out the profile of the clip to achieve more predictable releases only when you want them.

Look Cycle Keo 2 Max Carbon Road Pedals Look Cycle Keo 2 Max Carbon Road Pedals
There's a good reason why Look's Keo 2 Max Carbon Road Pedals are a favorite among today's pros. As one of the widest clipless pedals out there, the Keo 2 Max offers a stiff platform and maximum power transfer from your feet to the drivetrain. For the new Keo 2 Max, Look increased the platform width to 57mm, without sacrificing the pedal's cornering ability. With a narrower bottom than the original Keo design, the Keo 2 Max offers superb cornering clearance. And to create a more durable pedal than the original version, Look placed a stainless steel wear plate at the center of the carbon pedal. Look also redesigned the axles for the Keo 2 Max, increasing the diameter to 12mm on the crank side for added stiffness, and it kept the stack height low at 15. 7mm. Finally, with two roller bearings on the crank side, and a needle bearing on the outside of the spindle, the Keo 2 Max guarantees to run smooth year in and year out.

Look Cycle Keo 2 Max Road Pedals Look Cycle Keo 2 Max Road Pedals
For riders who finance their own cycling aspirations, equipment choices can involve some pretty intense cost/benefit analysis to get the most out of every dollar. Thanks to a polyamide composite pedal body, the Look Cycle Keo 2 Max Road Pedals go toe-to-toe with their Keo 2 Max Carbon counterparts, without the carbon price tag. The Keo 2 utilizes the same stainless steel wear plate found in the Keo 2 Carbon to give riders a wide, stable platform to transfer power and distribute pressure. This gives the pedal a solid feel when clipped in and reduces the potential for uncomfortable pressure points disrupting a ride. By widening only the top of the pedal, Look achieved this increase in stability compared to older versions of the Keo 2, without impacting cornering clearance. The Keo 2 Max Road Pedals have an adjustable cleat release tension ranging from 9-15Nm and are compatible with Look cleats that come in three float options to customize the pedal system to your specific ride preferences.

Look Cycle Keo Dual Mode Essential Power Meter Pedals Look Cycle Keo Dual Mode Essential Power Meter Pedals
From stem-gazing professionals to weekend warriors, power data has become a must for virtually any cyclist who takes their training seriously. Installing and maintaining a power meter can also be a huge pain in the ass. Look Cycles takes care of that with its Keo Dual Mode Essential Power Meter Pedals, a pedal-based power system that any cyclist can install and that recharges so you don't have to mail it in to the manufacturer to have the battery changed. And since installation is as easy as swapping pedals, the Keo Power Meter Pedals are a one-meter solution that follows you from crit sled to climbing bike to TT machine. Compared to the Regular Power Meter Pedals, the Essential model featured here takes power info from a single side. This makes it both lighter and less expensive, though it does mean that the data gathered may be less accurate than if it were reading power from both pedals simultaneously. The power meter-equipped pedal's spindle incorporates a transmitter pod, which broadcasts data collected by eight strain gauges tucked inside the pedal's axle. This design measures power output at a claimed accuracy of +/-2%, putting it in the same percentage range as most other power meters. In addition to gathering power data, the Keo Power Meter Pedals also read cadence and determine pedaling efficiency by looking for dead spots and pedal rotation consistency, helping the aspirational racer address the hobgoblins of pedal stroke mechanics. In a world where marginal gains matter, being able to analyze your pedal stroke and correct inefficiencies is an easy way to gain a few precious watts, which could in turn be the difference between an inconspicuous mid-pack finish and raising your arms in the podium photo. Aesthetically, the Keo Power Meter Pedal mimics the standard Keo very closely, with an injected carbon pedal body, a wide platform for a confident connection, and a protective stainless steel plate. The pedal does take on a slightly beefier side profil...

Look Cycle S-Track Race Pedals Look Cycle S-Track Race Pedals
Look Cycle has been designing clipless pedals as long as just about anyone, and the S-Track Race Pedals leverage those decades of expertise into a new pedal design that's user-friendly and highly-customizable. However, it's the new cleat design that makes these one of the best mud-shedding pedals on the planet. So, when you need predictable engagement, regardless of the conditions, consider these as your ticket to ride. Arguably, the most important chore that your pedals are tasked with is efficiently transferring your power from your legs into your crank arms. To this end, Look designed the S-Track pedals with 460 square millimeters of contact between the cleat and the pedal. If that sounds like a ton of contact, well, it is. In fact, that's the most contact available from any pedal on the market. And if you want to carry that increased surface area over to the shoes, as well as the cleat, these are compatible with Look's aftermarket S-Track Cage. Essentially, this is an easily removable cage that yields a standing platform that's similar to a standard platform pedal. But, this direct connection is worthless if you're not comfortable. For this reason, the included cleats have three degrees of float and a generous 15 degree release angle. This means that your feet will stay put, with just enough wiggle room to protect your knees. These pedals run on a strong steel spindle, which spins on two sets of ball bearings, and one set of needle bearings, all of which are sealed. This translates into smooth rolling and excellent stiffness when you're putting down the power -- even in wet weather. Speaking of which, the all new cleat design is optimized for mud-shedding, which makes these the ideal option for all manner of mountain biking, as well as cyclocross. The Look S-Track Race Pedals are available in one size and in the color Black.

PowerTap P1 Power Meter Pedals PowerTap P1 Power Meter Pedals
Freedom to measure power data from any bike you've got stashed in the garage is a valuable thing, and until now, it wasn't an option available from PowerTap. The P1 Power Meter Pedals represent a huge step forward for the brand's versatility, measuring power entirely from one mechanism contained in the pedals. If you're looking for data on your output on the roads but decide to step up your XC training midway through the season for a fall race, just swap out the P1 pedals to whichever machine you choose in the same way you'd switch any other pair of pedals. Another benefit of having power measured directly from the pedals is the ability to collect data from each leg. Everyone has a dominant side, and knowing which half of your body works harder during a ride can be extremely beneficial. Once you have the P1 pedals set up, they'll pair easily with your existing head unit, as PowerTap wisely made them compatible with ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart, and to move them between bikes, you won't need any special tools beyond what you'd use to change out a normal set of pedals. PowerTap does deliver the setup with its own cleats and hardware, which you should stick to using exclusively with the pedals to make sure the interface works the way it should, and you can plan on the battery keeping the system running for about 60 hours of pedal-mashing, berm-rallying ride time.

PowerTap P1 Road Cleats PowerTap P1 Road Cleats
We've recently seen some misinformation circulating around the Internet about cleat compatibility for PowerTap's P1 pedals. A few reviews from popular sites noting that certain cleats from other manufacturers sorta kinda work with the pedals has led to people trying to mash cleats into pedals that weren't designed for them. This is obviously dangerous and, we think, a bit foolhardy. PowerTap's P1 Road Cleats are the only cleats designed to work with the P1 Pedals. Don't take a chance on your own safety; if your PowerTap cleats are worn, replace them with the P1 Road Cleats.

PowerTap P1S Power Meter Pedal PowerTap P1S Power Meter Pedal
Given the ever evolving options in frameset aerodynamics, tire clearance, gram reduction, brake standards, and our own dogged adherence to the n+1 rule, we often find ourselves with a variety of different options in the stable. Climbing bikes, crit sleds, TT rockets, gravel adventurers--every bike serves its own unique purpose. This creates two big issues: equipping them all with power meters and explaining each acquisition to dubious significant others. The easily transferable PowerTap P1S Power Meter Pedals address the first issue. You're on your own with the second. The P1S is similar to the more expensive P1 Pedals, but it measures power in the left pedal, only, making it one of the most economical options for power measurement. This obviously appeals to the self-sponsored racer, and that appeal is only heightened when you consider that swapping them out to another bike is exactly as easy as swapping out a regular set of pedals--all you need is a pedal wrench and a little bit of grease. In contrast to pedal-based power meters that gather data with pods dangling from the crank arms, the P1S pedals contain the entire mechanism for gathering information within the pedal body itself. Power data is determined with the use of 40 individual measurements of angular velocity per pedal rotation for precise measurements of both round and oval/non-round chainring setups. These pedals feature ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart connectivity to seamlessly pair with your head unit or other compatible device for data viewing and file tracking. The pedals come with a pair of PowerTap's proprietary cleats. They look similar to several popular competitor's cleats, but they aren't. When it comes to the cleat/pedal interface, we don't like to risk the obvious safety hazards of unpredictable or sloppy engagement, so we don't recommend trying to force cleats into pedals that they aren't built for. In all cases, we strongly suggest sticking with the manufacturer's recommendation.

Race Face Chester Pedal Race Face Chester Pedal
Having a place to put your feet is a pretty non-negotiable part of cycling, but, you don't want to spend your post-ride refreshment budget (and part of next month's rent) on flashy pedals, either. Race Face's Chester Pedals don't have the shiny aluminum construction of some of their pricier counterparts, but they also won't empty your wallet, and Race Face carefully constructs their nylon composite body to make it just as grippy and responsive as aluminum versions. Using eight replaceable steel hex traction pins on each side of the pedals, Race Face gives the rubber soles of your shoes a place to hang on when you're blasting through destructive territory. It also fully seals the bearing and bushing system while a durable Cro-Mo steel axle keeps the pedal working smoothly for as long as possible. If it eventually does need some work, Race Face makes the system completely serviceable too, so you won't be forced to replace a perfectly good pedal because of a bushing or bearing problem.

Shimano 105 PD-5800 Pedal Shimano 105 PD-5800 Pedal
Pedals are one of the unsexiest parts of your bike, so you'd be forgiven for forgetting about them, but you'll remember in a hurry if they break when you're 20 miles from home. That said, you don't want a pedal to weigh six pounds, either. The everything wizards at Shimano solved that dilemma with the 105 PD-5800 pedal, a strong and durable pedal that brings the weight savings of carbon to the party, all at a price you can actually live with. Shimano didn't use pure carbon fiber for the PD-5800, but instead thought up a carbon composite that's almost as light and more resistant to damage. Where the cleat and pedal meet, a stainless steel plate increases strength and provides a wide platform that helps increase power and stability. The cleat itself is Shimano's classic SPD-SL, perfect for all-around use, and the included "Yellow" version has three degrees of float for easy dismounts (if you want more latitude, you can swap it out for versions that offer more or less float). Shimano also thoughtfully designed the cleat for easy walking, so you don't take a digger onto your face when you walk into the cafe trying to look all cool for the barista.

Shimano A530 SPD Pedals Shimano A530 SPD Pedals
Changing pedals is a task even the most diehard mechanic dislikes. Clockwise, counterclockwise, right thread, left thread -- do any of us ever get it right the first time' For this reason the Shimano A530 SPD Pedals may just become your pedal of choice. While most pedals feature either a one-sided design (road) or a two-sided (mountain) interface, the A530 takes the SPD and mates it to a platform for an all-in-one package. Now you're able to ride the trails to work and then put on your boots for a night on the town when the clock is punched. With steel spindles and sealed-cartridge bearings, they are built to last. The platform is an ovalized, oversized aluminum plate that works with any shoe. The cleat side is Shimano's tried-and-true SPD, and a set of cleats is included to get you rolling right out of the box.

Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 Cleats Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 Cleats
If you've upgraded your pedals to the Dura-Ace 9000 series, no doubt you're putting in the miles. When your cleats wear out, as they will, you'll need the Dura-Ace 9000 Cleats to keep you locked in. These are the 9000-series Blue cleats, which give you one degree of float, a new option for Shimano that previously only offered six-degree or zero-degree float. This gives you the efficiency and power transfer of a fixed cleat with just a little room for comfort. It's something the pros have enjoyed for a few seasons now. The one degree of float originates from the center of the cleat, which also works better with your foot's natural movements while riding.

Shimano PD-M530 MTB SPD Pedals Shimano PD-M530 MTB SPD Pedals
Shimano's SPD pedals have been around forever and, aside from a few additions here and there, have remained pretty much unchanged. The reason is simple: Shimano got it right the first time. The M530 still uses Shimano's tried-and-true SPD retention system, but it incorporates a larger platform to add a bit of support in gnarly sections of trail where you're tossed around. The M530 SPD MTB pedal incorporates the same smart features that SPDs have incorporated for years. The dual-sided pedals make clipping in a snap. Sealed cartridge bearings make them pretty-much maintenance-free, although if you need to take them apart to clean and grease the internals, it can still be done without any SPD-specific tools. Finally, there's the tension adjustment, which is why many believers have been riding SPDs for years. With a 3mm Allen wrench, you can adjust the release tension of your pedals, so you can customize the feel to your exact comfort level.

Shimano XTR PD-M9020 Trail Pedals Shimano XTR PD-M9020 Trail Pedals
Shimano's SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) pedal system has been a favorite among commuters, recreational roadies, and XC chargers for nearly a quarter-century. With the XTR-PD M9020 Trail Pedal, Shimano has managed shave weight from this vetted design without sacrificing performance. The M9020 features a large contact plate around the outside of the pedal that dramatically increases the size of your pedaling platform. In fact, this platform is the only difference separating the XTR M9020 from the top-of-the-line "race" classified XTR M9000. While the platform adds a bit of weight, it's worth it in our minds considering the provided stability and the added convenience of occasionally wearing shoes without cleats. Besides, the M9020 is still lighter than most pedals in Shimano's mountain range.

TIME ATAC XC 2 Pedals TIME ATAC XC 2 Pedals
Coming in at under 100 grams and featuring many of the same proprietary innovations as you'll find on higher end TIME pedals, the ATAC XC2 MTB Pedals are entry-level TIME pedals the way a 458 is an entry-level Ferrari. Time's ATAC (Auto Tension Adjust Concept) line of pedals follows the design principles of their road line. Simple design, easy engagement, plenty of float. The ATAC pedals were always seen as an alternative to Shimano mainly because you didn't need to fuss with figuring cant on the cleats, because the pedals were much harder to jam with mud, and because the spring tension never needs to be adjusted. The one adjustment the user can make is whether the release angle is 13 or 17 degrees. And this is done by running the cleats one way or in reverse. While the Time ATAC may look similar to the younger Crank Brother's pedals, the spring design is inherently different, offering consistent cleat retention regardless of what happens to the bottom of the pedal. Another advantage over pedals of similar float in the mountain bike world is the tension of the ATAC system: offering a more consistent release, and a more stable feeling underfoot.

TIME ATAC XC 4 Pedals TIME ATAC XC 4 Pedals
Time's ATAC XC 4 Pedals slot into the French manufacturer's cross-country hierarchy between the XC 2 and the XC 6, enjoying all of the features of the former with the hollow steel axle of the latter. The resulting construction is both durable and lightweight, only sacrificing a claimed 23 grams of weight to the line-topping XC 12 pedals, so the XC 4 may constitute the best value-to-function ratio in the ATAC line. The XC 4s included Time's ATAC (Auto Tension Adjust Concept) design, which operates along the same principles of their road line by stressing an effective, simple design, easy engagement, and plenty of float. Time ATAC XC pedals are the ready-to-fly cross-country kit of choice because, unlike other brands, you don't need to fuss with figuring cant on the cleats and the spring tension never needs to be adjusted. The arches and hardware are also surrounded by adequate space for clearing mud and other debris you might pick up while dismounted on an impassable section. While the Time ATAC may look similar to the younger Crank Brother's pedals, the spring design is inherently different, offering consistent cleat retention regardless of what happens to the bottom of the pedal.
