HED Belgium Plus Rim HED Belgium Plus Rim
We've all been there, staring at the computer screen during a mid-afternoon lull. Pining over a set of HED factory builds but wanting to lace those rims to a silky set of stealthy hubs or a duo of beehive buzzing bling -- possibly the perfect "bombproof" wheelset. Ignore that little voice in your head that says you can't have it all and go custom with the HED Belgium Plus Rim. The Belgium Plus is the same 25mm-wide rim features on HED's Ardennes Plus wheels, which not only increases structural integrity, but also allows the tire to seat with straighter side walls and a larger contact patch with the ground. These properties contribute to a lower rolling resistance, more secure grip while cornering, a higher tire volume that requires less PSI and nets a more comfortable ride, and -- counterintuitively -- a smaller aerodynamic footprint by eliminating the light bulb rim-to-tire transition. And just in case you're looking for the fastest rolling setup around, the Belgium Plus is compatible with tubeless setups, in addition to traditional clincher tires with tubes.

HED Rim Tape HED Rim Tape
Behind every good road tire, there's either a good tube or a bit of goo -- but they can't carry the weight alone. HED's Rim Tape provides even more support from even further behind the tubes or sealant that are already behind the scenes.

Ibis 741 Carbon Rim Ibis 741 Carbon Rim
When it comes to hammering singletrack, manufacturers have come to realize that wider rims are better rims. Ibis is leading the wide-rim charge with its 741 Carbon Rim. The 741 adds width without adding a ton of weight, so you get more traction and stability without much more weight.Wider internal rim widths (note: not simply a wider rim body) means the tire beads can sit farther apart, which means greater tire volume, which means that lower tire pressures can be run for greater traction and handling, because the tire is more free to deform and deflect around obstacles without drastically altering the path of the wheel's momentum. Ibis says you can run 4-6 less PSI of pressure, on average, with the 741s. Wider rims also translate into a wider tire footprint, again boosting traction, and increasing stability at the same time. A wider footprint also means that your tire fattens up relative to its labeled size; for example, a 2. 2-inch tire can widen to the volume of a 2. 3- or 2. 4-inch tire, depending on the rims themselves, so you can run lighter tires without giving up capability or gnar-ability. Now, take a look at the emerging world of 27. 5-inch all-mountain-ready bicycle wheels, and you'll find internal rim widths from 21-26mm. Ibis takes that average and gives it an "F." Witness the 741: 35 millimeters. That is gigantic. That is tremendous traction and capability. That is stability for days. But they must weigh a mega-ton, right' False. The 741 wheelset's carbon rims keep weight down for these monsters, and coming from the company that raised legendary all-mountain machines like the Mojo and the Ripley, you know durability is a given. Need numbers' Ibis tested the gravy out of the best competitors' rims for comparison and found its new 741s to be anywhere from 50% to 300% stronger in various tests. Part of what made this possible was the hookless bead construction of the rims, which optimizes tubeless tire compatibility while strengthening the bead by re...

Ibis 742 Carbon Rim Ibis 742 Carbon Rim
In the tide towards plus-sized tires and the ability to rock ever increasing levels of gnar, Ibis brings its 742 Carbon Rim to the table as a lightweight platform with the strength to weather the biggest hits. It features a beefy rim width that sits shallower than that of its predecessor, the 741, for increased impact resistance and a lower rolling weight. The lower the rim, the better it weathers big hits, big drops, and surprise roll-overs without failing under you--basically, the 742 is designed to withstand even more enduro abuse. Given that Ibis' internal tests showed the outgoing 741 is between 50 and 300% stronger than competing models, we realize that pushing even further ahead in the durability game is an ambitious--and maybe even unnecessary--move. But that's just how Ibis rolls. Despite the change in depth, the 742 still has the same 35mm internal width, which further buttresses the rim against the deprecations of the trail while allowing plus-sized tires to sit nice and fat. This increases air volume to decrease PSI and for better traction across everything from root-latticed climbs to rain-slicked granite. The wide footprint is supplemented with a hookless bead that can be setup tubeless right at home with a regular floor pump and decreases the risk of burping when you're wantonly throwing the bike into switchbacks during flowy singletrack loops. Stan's NoTubes Tubeless Valve Stem - Pair Stan's NoTubes Tubeless Valve Stem - Pair
Although tubeless set-ups remove tubes entirely from the equation, you'll still need valve stems to seal the rim/tire interface from losing air, as well as provide a method for tire inflation and sealant injection. That's where Stan's NoTubes Tubeless Valve Stem Pair comes into play. These 44-millimeter valve stems feature a removable valve core for injecting sealant into your tubeless set-up without dealing with the hassle of breaking your tire's bead. You'll find they work equally well with UST, Road Tubeless, and standard tube-type rims, thanks to their universal shape and rubber cone along the end opposite of the valve.

Velox Fond De Jante Rimstrip Velox Fond De Jante Rimstrip
The French-to-English translation of Fond de Jante is "bottom of the rim". Which is exactly where the self adhesive Velox rim strips go. It's the only type of rim strip we sell because it's the only type you should put on your wheels. Sure, many wheels these days come complete with their own branded rim strips. Often these are stringy plastic things that offend in every way. Velox on the other hand is perfect in every way. It's inexpensive, it lasts forever, and it's highly effective at shielding your tube from the backside of rim eyelets.
