Salomon Snowclog
By Rhett Olson
If I were given the liberty to rename the Snowclog I would. Although it is a clog made specifically for winter use, I would go with something just a little different. "Casual Crampon" might be a little more fitting. I'm not kidding. I haven't found any shoe, casual or technical, that gives you better traction in the snow.
The Snowclog's use of the Salomon Contra Grip sole sets this shoe apart from all others. The aggressive sole has a linear tread pattern that not only grips to snowy surfaces, but also naturally clears snow out of the tread so there is no build up. I spent last winter in these shoes and was amazed at the traction these clogs provide.
The upper is made of a supple waterproof suede. Minimal stitching and fleece at the mouth of the shoe give a sleek, casual look. A ThinsulateĆ thermal lining helps keep your feet toasty in cold weather. After a long day of snowboarding, I always looked forward to putting on my warm, comfortable Snowclogs.
A pull tab at the heel and a neoprene panel at the tongue make the shoe easy to slip on and off. Although it's a slip-on, I never had any problem keeping the clog on my foot. And, because the clog has no low cuts, I never had any problems with getting snow in my shoes when walking through snow of reasonable depth.
The traction, warmth and comfort of the Snowclog is unsurpassed, making it the perfect winter after-sport shoe.
